The NBA has a San Antonio Spurs problem and every contender should be TERRIFIED right now!
Welcome to NBA Hoops, where legends are made, rivalries ignite, and every buzzer beater writes history. Step into the heart of the game. This is more than basketball. This is NBA hoops. Victor Wmanyama made his preseason debut tonight. And with a new sheriff in town, the point guard is in San Antonio after all. And remember, no active player has thrown more alleyoops. He’s never quite had a lob threat, at least in packaging like this. So, let’s see exactly how this one went down. We’re going to pick this one up with the play that made everyone need to get their bleet buttons ready on TV. This is what we have been waiting to see. Brian Winhorse. Oh, how are you going to defend it? What are you going to do? Uh, the Magic would say you can’t. But the question is, how do you defend passes like this, which has only been done four times in league history. So, clearly oddsmakers think that Victor is going to take another step, another leap, another bound. He bobbled a little bit early on in this first preseason game, but clearly we’re we’re seeing the highlights here. Brian, you were around him in Paris and you were listening to the way that his peers were talking about him. Yeah. I mean, his opportunity in Paris was amazing. It was sort of a once in a lifetime opportunity. And by the way, they had some adversity that took place on that French team. A lot of it was in French, so you may not have seen it on your social media feeds, but some stuff went down within that team. He rose up, overcame it. LeBron said the gold medal game felt like a game seven. Victor Wmanyama was the best player in that game seven for the majority of that game. Steph took it from him at the end. That was a great thing to see and the Spurs were really encouraged by the way he played in it. He he he’s he’s he’s generational already. I mean, just watch those highlights. I mean, for people that have been watching basketball their whole life, you you almost say, “What was that? What was it that doesn’t it the size, the agility, but what impressed me as much as that is who he is.” And you don’t hear LeBron and Draymond and Joic, they don’t just compliment guys that easily. And you heard what they said at the start of the segment. They believe in this guy, not only as a player, but as a person. And you keep hearing one word. You want what’s the word you keep hearing about women? Scary. Yeah. Scary. And I think he is, like you said, you said jump. Do you What do you do with that guy? How do you defend a guy? There’s nothing you can’t do. There’s nothing that you can’t do. And and like the great Lil Wayne say, no ceiling when it comes to expectations for Vic to win beyond, right? But it’s expectations. What are the expectations for the San Antonio Spurs, right? That’s the next step for him. How many wins can they get? What do we see them in the Western Conference with a stack Western Conference? I think that they actually could get in the playin uh tournament and I think that’s a huge goal for I think that’s a a realistic goal. Ladies and gentlemen, the NBA is on the brink of collapse and the epicenter of this earthquake is San Antonio. Victor Webbyama, the 7 foot4 French phenom, isn’t just a player, he’s a revolution. In his second season, cut short by a blood clot, he still managed 46 games, averaging 24, three points, 11 rebounds, three seven assists, and a league shattering three whit blocks per game. That’s 176 blocks, 28 more than anyone else despite missing half the season. This isn’t just dominance, it’s annihilation. LeBron James called him scary. Draymond Green said he’s unguardable. Nicola Yokic, he’s speechless. And here’s the kicker. Webyama’s only 21, and he’s already a top 10 player in the league. The Spurs went 34 to 48 last season, but with Wem back and healthy, they’re not just aiming for the play, they’re gunning for the top. The rest of the NBA is trembling, and they should be. This isn’t a comeback, it’s a takeover. The question isn’t if Webanyama will dominate, it’s whether anyone can survive him. But one man, even an alien like Wemi, can’t do it alone. How did the Spurs build a team to amplify his greatness? Let’s uncover their master plan. The San Antonio Spurs don’t rebuild, they reload with surgical precision. This is the franchise that turned a tanking season into Tim Duncan and five championships. found Tony Parker at pick 28, Manu Ginobily at 57, and transformed Kawhai Leonard from a 15th pick into a finals MVP. They don’t just draft, they sculpt dynasties. After a miserable 22 wins in 2022 to 23, the Spurs didn’t panic, they planned. Now in 2025, they’ve assembled a core that’s the envy of the league. Webanyama the 2024 Rookie of the Year. Stefan Castle the 2025 Rookie of the Year. Dylan Harper the No. Five Rookie of the Year 2 of the year. Weama the 2025 two pick in 2025 and Carter Bryant a steal at no shi all under 21. All elite all perfectly designed to complement each other. This isn’t a team it’s a weapon. The Spurs 34 to48 record last season was just a glimpse of what’s coming. With Webyama cleared for a full season, oddsmakers have set their win total at 42, 5 for 2025 to 26. But let’s be real, that’s too low. This young core in the Western Conference’s meat grinder isn’t just aiming for the playin, they’re ready to shock the world. The Spurs aren’t normal. They never have been. This core is terrifying, but it’s the newest pieces that make it unstoppable. Let’s talk about Dylan Harper and why the critics are eating their words. When the Spurs picked Dylan Harper second overall in 2025, the pundits lost their minds. He needs the ball too much, they screamed. He doesn’t fit with Wemi. Oh, how foolish they look now. Harper, a 6’6 left-handed point guard, is championship royalty son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, who won titles with Jordan, Pippen, Kobe, and Shaq. At Ruters, Harper averaged 19, four points, four, six rebounds, and four assists. Running the show with a pace so deceptive it’s unfair. Former Minnesota coach Ben Johnson called his change of speed unteachable. Pair that with Webanyama, a 7 foot4 lob magnet who can catch passes from outer space, and you’ve got a pick and roll that’s pure chaos. Harper’s not just a scorer, he’s a conductor, orchestrating offenses with vision that makes defenders dizzy. His left-handed handles, a nightmare. At 19, he’s already NBA ready with creative footwork, ambidextrous finishes, and a floater that’s money. Critics said the Spurs needed shooters, not playmakers. Wrong. Harper’s catch and shoot game is elite, and with Wembley’s gravity, his assist numbers will skyrocket. The doubters aren’t just wrong, they’re irrelevant. Harper’s the key to unlocking Webyama’s full potential. And the NBA is about to learn that the hard way. Harper’s the engine. But every dynasty needs a spark plug. Let’s meet Carter Bryant, the Steel, who’s about to make the league regret sleeping on him. At pick 14in 2025, the Spurs struck gold again with Carter Bryant, a 6’8 wing who’s equal parts menace and masterpiece. This isn’t just a three and D prospect. He’s a future alldefensive monster, shooting 37 1% from three and blocking shots like a center. Bryant’s instincts are otherworldly. Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd called him elite talent, elite character. Think OG Anobi, but with more polish at just 19. In San Antonio’s system, with Webanyama drawing double teams, Bryant’s open looks will make him a 40% sniper. On defense, he’s a one-man wrecking crew, sending shots into the third row with timing that defies logic. The Spurs don’t just draft well, they see what others miss. While other teams chased flashy names, San Antonio saw a championship piece. Bryant’s the glue guy every dynasty needs. Selfless, relentless, and ready to do the dirty work. The rest of the league overlooked him, and that mistake will haunt them for years. San Antonio’s culture thrives on players like Bryant, and he’s about to prove why with Harper and Bryant, the Spurs’ young core is lethal. But what happens when you add a veteran star to the mix? Let’s talk De’aran Fox. The Spurs didn’t just bet on youth, they doubled down with experience. De’aran Fox, the former all-star point guard acquired at the 2024 to 25 trade deadline, is the spark this team needed. In just five games alongside Webanyama last season, the Spurs outscored opponents by five two points per 100 possessions, better than the 50 wins. Fox, another lefty, brings blistering speed and playmaking with no active player throwing more alley oops in NBA history. His lobs to Webby are already iconic, turning defenses into highlight reels. But here’s where it gets spicy. Some so-called experts claim Fox’s shaky jumper doesn’t fit the modern NBA. That’s nonsense. With Webanyama’s gravity and Harper’s vision, Fox doesn’t need to shoot threes. He needs to attack, and no one does it better. At 27, he’s the perfect bridge between the Spurs young core and their championship aspirations. the playin. That’s the floor for 2025 to 26. Fox is ready to lead this team to the playoffs and anyone who doubts him is about to get burned. Fox, Harper, Bryant, Castle, and Webyama. This is a nightmare lineup. But why is this core the NBA’s biggest problem? Let’s wrap it up. The NBA has a San Antonio Spurs problem, and it’s only getting worse. Weama, 21, is already a top 10 player. Harper, 19, is a future all-star. Castle, 20, is a defensive bulldog. Bryant, 19, is a two-way gem. Fox, 27, is the veteran fire. By 2030, when this core hits its prime, they’ll have 5 years of chemistry in the best player development system in NBA history. The Spurs turned Kawhi Leonard into a superstar, Tony Parker into a Hall of Famer, and Manu Jinili into a legend. Now with cap space, draft picks, and a 425 win, overunder for 2025 to 26, they’re building something unstoppable. The Thunder showed this blueprint works young core, defensive identity, patient rebuild, but the Spurs, they’re rewriting the script. This isn’t just talent, it’s chemistry, culture, and a relentless drive to dominate. The Western Conference is a bloodbath, but the Spurs are the predators. In 3 years, when Harper’s running point like a maestro, Bryant’s locking down stars, Castle’s hitting clutch shots, and Webyama’s the best player alive, the NBA will be begging for mercy. This isn’t a rebuild, it’s a reckoning. Drop your predictions below. Can anyone stop this Spurs dynasty? Hit like, subscribe, and let’s talk basketball. I'm a huge Spurs fan and probably as high on Wembanyama and the team the Spurs are building as anyone, but there are a lot of new players who haven't played together yet (and remember, Wembanyama and Fox played fewer than a half-dozen games together), plus they have a new head coach (although he was the acting head coach last year), so I think it's premature to call them a "problem" for the NBA just yet. I believe they have tremendous potential and look great on paper, but they're in a tough conference and have to prove it on the floor, not just inside the heads of pundits or fans like me. ☺️
What I will say is that I expect them to be a very fun team for Spurs fans to watch going forward, on both ends of the floor.
Go Spurs Go!
