Well, it’s it’s very good, Pat. It’s very good. I just had to say that. But Tom would have there’d be a time. Okay. Maybe it’s been Maybe it’s been packed this whole time. Go check out uh their country in the park part two, which is coming up. And what’s coming up on the show today, man. Oh, man. Literally. And I’m not kidding with y’all here. And we’re going to talk about the Giants. We have some happy trails. Kyle, be sure to get the boys to men. It’s so hard to say goodbye. Ready for when we say happy trails to some A’s players and some Giants players. But I’m telling y’all right now, we sit there. Kyle and I finish the show and we say, “Okay, cool. Well, let’s see what happens tomorrow. We’re heading into Friday. This Kaminga stuff is starting to cool off. We’ll see what pops up, but probably going to uh be able to talk about some other things going on, maybe deep dive into what Dacoin Plouden brings to this team. I I was grinding film on Daycoin Plowen in the middle of the night last night just to wake up and see a true true banger from Sam A where we have a lot of information that we are going to discuss. So, you just never know what’s going to happen. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. Hell, I was ready to talk about Trey Lance and how Trey Lance is still extremely extremely polarizing and some Niner fans just can’t let him enjoy life. Some Niner fans, they know what they’re doing and they like to tick off other Niner fans and this is why we should have given him a shot. There’s just no middle ground with Trey Lance to this day. To this day, there is no middle ground with Tre Lance. That’s what I was ready to talk about. Then we wake up this morning and I’m not even I gotta double check when it actually when it actually dropped if Sam A saw it on NBA Central this morning, but Sam Aik drops a heater and all of a sudden we are now a aware of the most recent offer and this was it was two hours ago. the most recent offer to the Warriors for the Sacramento Kings. And as Malik Monk has been dangled in trade talks essentially as soon as the last buzzer, this was what happened. They f they fired Marty McNair and Wes and Wes Wilcox had left beforehand, right? You had Scott Perry get into the building. the season is officially over or or excuse me the rest of the season is over as the Thunder win the finals and it felt like the very I don’t know if the confetti had stopped falling on the court yet before we heard that Malik Monk was available in trade talks. I don’t I’m not sure what happened there but as soon the they were just now figuring out Thunder players were just figuring out how to open the champagne bottle. They had just finished YouTubing how to open the champagne bottle. And as soon as you heard the pop, Malik Monk was available for trade. Now, we listened to Scott Perry. And look, this is what GMs do. The I don’t I don’t want to get into a conversation where, well, is he being truthful? He did all this. He He did all these uh media spots in Vegas. Is he being truthful? He said he can’t wait to work with Malik Monk. This is what people do. This is what GMs do. He said he can’t wait to work with Malik Monk. He didn’t say work with them on the same team. He did not say that. And we have hypothesized time and time again. How have the conversations gone? Is there just a feeling that it doesn’t fit anymore? Is it just an odd man out situation and they’re just thinking he’s the only one we can move Deon? They tried to move Devin. The two the two guards as they bring in Dennis Shruder cuz they needed a point guard. The two guards that seem to be the most expendable. Who’s more expendable that anybody would listen on? So, I don’t know if it’s an indictment on Malik Monk. They’re just looking around. They decided to draft Nick Clifford who can play the three but is is going to be a bigger two for the most part. Maybe he’ll sneak in a smidge of four here or there. But 2, three, four, you’re going to see him between two and three. Malik Monk at the end of the season said, “I’m a two, right? I He is not to be considered the same way as a one. I think he’s still a combo guard, but we talked about how that affected his value.” And now you’re looking around. If you’re Scott Perry, I’m trying to improve this team. I’m trying to put my fingerprint, my imprint on this team. Devin Carter’s been made available and Malik Monk’s been made available. Out of all the names that we’ve said, we’ve been over it time and time again. And and here’s the here’s the thing though. When when Sam Aik was on the morning show yesterday, I have the the quote here just to make sure this is not fully about Malik Monk. I have the quote here and Sam yesterday and it was funny because you knew something was on the way because he said, “I talked I’m talking to you guys right now. I wish we had had this conversation tomorrow or whatever the case is because I have some conversations I’m about to have.” So Sam was basically telling us, “Yeah, I’m about to drop something once I get more. I’m going to get more information and a banger is coming out.” That’s essentially what he was alluding to. But yesterday he says, “Zack, here’s the quote, Zack, they have not found much out there for him.” That’s important to me because that tells me that this is not a Malik Monk thing, right? It comes off as if Scott Perry did due diligence on essentially everybody. And just because Keegan Murray was made Keegan Murray and Keon was made untouchable in Kaminga conversations, that doesn’t mean that they weren’t in any conversations. I think like we’ve discussed Sean Cunningham said not untouchables, but you’d prefer not to, right? The we would prefer not to in Keon Ellis and Keegan Murray. separate them. It’s not about Malik Monk proper, okay? It’s about the roster construction and trying to give this team better direction. So, when he says Zack, they have not found much out there for him. He also said Demar still has some market value. So, this isn’t a pick on Malik Monk thing. This is this roster doesn’t make sense. I’ve essentially made everyone available besides Keegan Murray to a certain degree, Keon Ellis to a certain degree, and I’m just going to put Damonte Sabonis in there. So, they’ve made essentially all of the all of the rotation pieces available, but if nobody is calling back for Zack Lavine and nobody is calling back for anything that makes sense for Demard Rosen, and the same thing goes for Devin Carter, who obviously Deon Carter’s in the same position as adult connect, you’re looking around thinking, okay, well, if people are willing to listen on Malik Monk, that’s just what it is. So that is after hearing Sam yesterday and obviously this article that breaks down the Warriors would have to take a pretty pretty lowlevel first round pick the worst between the Kings and the Spurs if I’m not mistaken. So they would have to they would take that pick. It is a firstrounder in 2031. They take on Malik Monk and his contract. And here’s the kicker that is the biggest note for me. Because of the restrictions right now, that would not be here in December or January. Uh with Jonathan Kaminga and the Warriors only able to take back half, they would have to move off. And we’ve been saying this for months, by the way. We’ve been saying this for months. They would have to take back either or excuse me, they would have to send out either Moses Moody or Buddy Heel or Ge Santos. I have not seen Ge Santos. I’ve only seen I’ve only seen I’m only going off the article, Kyle. I’ve only seen Moses Moody and Buddy. If it was Ge Santos, I think it would be done, but they just need to to clear the money. Anyways, continue. Anyway, so you’re losing this according to Sam A. I don’t know it. Is Geese Santos mentioned in the article? No. Okay. You’re losing Jonathan Kaminga and either Moses Moody or Buddy Healed, right? You’re getting back and you could also add in what they’re going to what they’re also going to acquire. So, you’re getting back Malik Monk, a protected pick, and then on top of that, finally adding Al Horford and DeAnthony Melton. So, it comes down to whether or not the Warriors think that that addition is worth finally moving off of Jonathan Kaminga and just being done with it. And then you would lose Moses Moody and and or Buddy Healed. Now, I think there are two reasons the Warriors are kind of they’re tripping in a couple different ways, but the reason they’re tripping off not wanting to make the move is because yeah, you are losing a rotation piece. There are two pieces here. You either move off of Buddy Heield, who has played pretty well. Let’s not forget what was it that game the game one when Steph went out against the Timberwolves and they and they bought and he bowled out. I think he played well in game seven against the Rockets as well. He bought out in both those games. Jimmy Butler loves him. Jimmy Butler love they have their weird friendmy jokiness. They they they love I don’t know. He either loves him or he really really hates and and and either way they’re playing it off or Moses Moody. And if you lose Moses Moody in a Kaminga deal, James Wiseman is somewhere I think on the Pacers trying to get back to Miss Achilles. That would be the final nail in the coffin of the absolute botch job that has been the Warriors draft decisions and asset management for the last five years. Wiseman cooked. Kaminga cooked. Moses Moody cooked. And I don’t know if they have too much pride and they don’t want to handle it because I keep going back and forth. Chris Watkins, I’ll let him speak for himself. He’s going to be on at 12:00 here because Chris, his initial thought as we’re texting back and forth is, man, the Warriors should take that. Initially, I saw it and I thought, I don’t know, man. That’s Malik. That’s you’re getting Malik. Sure. and you’re moving off of Kaminga, but and you’re getting a protected pick, but you’re lo you’re losing Kaminga, which I guess is just a depressed asset at this point, but you’re losing Kaminga and you’re losing a rotation piece. Now, you do get to add some more rotation pieces as well, but I could see why the Warriors are just ah, we’ll do it. If we have to lose another rotation player, then you should remove or give us a different pick, right, that doesn’t have those protections. So, I’m really really torn on this as we as we read through everything and try to figure it out. So, we are going to do that for you throughout the better portion of this show. We also have curtain current values on Kings players. Of course, that’s what Sam A essentially had to talk about yesterday on the show. Like I said, Chris Watkins joins us for an hour and Brett Seagull. This is the second Friday in a row here. Brett Seagull joins us at 11 o’clock to give his outlook on the updates and everything that has kind of came out the last couple really this week in general, but specifically the last couple hours. So 11:00, you do not want to miss Brett. I’m sure he’s got a little bit more insight in addition to what we’ve already learned from Sam A and of course Anthony Slater. And sure, I’ll throw Shams in there too. So, it is a a culmination of everything that we have kind of heard this week when I’m telling y’all. I’m telling y’all. I thought today was the day. We literally talked about it with Whitey Gle with Whitey Gleon. Hey, it’s about to chill out now. Okay, let’s talk Trey Lance. Let’s talk MLB trade deadline. Wake up this morning. Sam Am says, “You know what? Here go two more for y’all. Here go two more for y’all.” Just like LeBron James said. So that is what we have for you throughout the the large portion of this show. Also not to be forgotten yesterday again. Yesterday while grinding Dcoin plowed in film, okay, while grinding film, I had a thought process of a wild I don’t even know how wild it is, but I would say it’s ambitious. a very and we haven’t done this in a while so you’re going to have to guess the team here and I’ll I’ll give you a hint. It’s a Eastern Conference team. Okay, it’s a Eastern Conference team looking to make a jump and that jump would be Damont Sabonis. They have young assets. You’d have to make the money work. And to be completely honest with y’all, I didn’t I I got a success yesterday in fans, but it was way way too much. So, we’ll figure it out somehow. But this Eastern Conference team might be a perfect fit in my opinion. Might be some spacing questions, but a perfect fit for a team that has already I don’t want to give too much away. This team has already made a pretty big move this off season and they would add Deonte Sabonis with plenty of young assets to send back to Sacramento and this would be a version of their all-in move. That’s all. Can you guess the team? Eastern Conference already made a big move this off season. got some young assets that have no no room to run. As we watched Trey Lance yesterday, who by the way, I don’t know if it’s because he broke his his foot or his leg those years ago, that brother is not a running quarterback. Let’s just Let’s just put it out there. Age has caught up to him, even though he’s he’s 24, 25, younger than Bo Knicks. That brother is not a running quarterback. He might run a 49. He might He’s not a five. He might be a 4849 guy. Seriously, that’s too bad. I And I don’t know. But here’s the thing. I don’t He was never a four or five guy. So, well, he was just big. He was just big. When you watch his tape, what was it? North Dakota. It’s not a lot of him out. He’s running over people. Okay, here’s a good guess. Who do you think has a faster 40 time? Again, I don’t know what Trey Lance is now, but who do you think had a faster 40 time at the combine? him or Josh Allen? It’s got to be Josh Allen. And maybe you’re asking me this as a as a trick. Yeah, it was Trey Lance at the time. You’re say Josh Allen was a 475 at the time. I don’t know what Tre Lance is now. No way. I mean, and that’s why the 40s and stuff, there is a there is such thing as game speed because I mean, to be fair, I’ve seen Josh Allen run a lot more than Tre Lance, but I’ve seen Josh Allen outun people as well as run over. I had not seen Tre Lance outrun anyone. Well, he tried it one time and he tried yesterday. Well, yes, that’s true. And then yesterday, just get down, brother. Just you’re having a good game. Just get down, brother. So that’s what we were prepared. We were and we’re still going to get to some of it because I want to get to some of it. But Sam A decided here go two more for y’all. Here here go some more options for you to play with and we are going to do so. Here go two more for y’all for the next four hours. Like I said, here go two more for y’all. Brett Seagull joins us at 11:00 and you have Chris Watkins joining us at 12:00 as well. Let’s get to the final. Kyle, do you have the music ready? Thank you so much, Kyle. Look, it’s a lot of fun on this Friday, but we do need to say goodbye to some players that were a part of the battle of a of battle of 80, battle of I80, formerly known as the battle of the bank. First and foremost, this guy was redot just hit two home runs earlier this week. Miguel and Doohar, this one’s for you, brother. Finally got traded. to the Reds for a 22year-old single A pitcher. So, shout out to you, Miguel and Duhar. Shout out to one of the best closers in the game, even if he’s not having an outstanding season this season. Mason Miller, we will miss your 103, 105, 110 mph fast balls. Fastest in the league. We’re going to miss Sacramento when they would flash those lights as you entered the building. And even though it didn’t happen very often because the A’s aren’t in a ton of safe situations whenever we were blessed enough to see your presence, we enjoyed it. Do we think he still does Tesla in San Diego? We will miss you, Mason Miller. Now to the Giants. And at least Mason Miller, thank you for your 8,000 draft picks that we got in return. And shout out JP Sers as well. And thank you for your season and a half. Yes, probably the fastest any team has ever traded a quality player. Oh, and by the way, the Padre and I don’t know who is going to close for they they have a ridiculous bullpen. Who whoever it is, assuming it’s Mason Miller, that intro, whatever they decide to do is going to be box office. It’s going to be box office. They might just have a They might just have a beach just just get input into the actual baseball diamond and he surfs up on to the field and there’s music playing. Remember this is the city of Hell’s Bells and Trevor Hoffman. They know how to do it right. It’s going to be insane. I I I’m happy for Mason Miller and I know A’s fans are are taking it tough. I get you. But hopefully you find something and at least you got a hall, which is more than I can say. for a guy that we watched grow up right in front of our face in Camo Dval. He goes to the Yankees for four lower level prospects. The Yankees with their hall yesterday and throughout the trade season, they did not give up any of their what was it? Top 100 prospects, top 50 prospects. Not sure how they do that. Well, they didn’t get great players. They just got all the Rockies that the Rockies didn’t want. and Camila Dval. I say this as respectfully as possible. Camila Dval, you better get your head right because this thing is going to go two ways in my opinion. He might be a diet Mariano Rivera and be outstanding for the Yankees for years to come. or it might get dicey because there were questions about how he could handle the pressure and if you’re a closer that’s dang near more important than your stuff. So you’re going to not the Mets, you’re going to the big apple, Camila Deval, and I wish you, brother. I wish you the best. We got to watch you grow up. We thought you’d be our closer for years and years to come. And I’m wishing you the best. But make sure that you are solid, brother. I don’t want to see him against Altuve in the playoffs. Make sure you are on solid ground, my friend. And last but not least, to a man that at one point was my favorite Giant. And then a lot of things happened, a lot of things changed, but his defense in right field remained the same. I’m not sure if you knew this, but his grandfather played for a very long time in Major League Baseball. That’s Carl Yremsky. Mike Ystreky to the Royals for a number 20 prospect. Buster Posie said at the deadline, “As poorly as we played since the All-Star break, I think we all felt it was the best decision for the organization to get some pieces coming back that will help us in the future.” Mikey Stroski, it will not be forgotten what you did in 2020. It will not be forgotten that you were top 10 in MVP voting in 2020. It will not be forgotten that the Giants were a game or two away from seeking into the playoffs. All they had to do was not get swept by the Padres’s, which they did. We will never forget your splash hits and your outstanding defense off the brick wall. Not all the time, but sometimes. We will miss you, Mikey Striky. We will miss the memories that you’ve made with us and we hope that your time in Kansas City is spent with barbecue, Chiefs games for Kyle, and hopefully some playoff appearances. They’re five games out of the playoffs. Sam A finally tells us what the Kings latest offer for Kaminga was. Let’s break it all down when we return now. Southside Sports. We were just talking about the coffee. We were just talking about the coffee. We’ll see you later, Pat. Pat said he wants to know what the Kings are doing. We’re trying to figure that out, too, Pat. taking you up to 2 PM and let’s actually break down what Sam A has been saying. Okay, so I got this for you right here and it says Sam Ach provides us Kings their latest offer for Kaminga. Here’s the quote and here’s the write up from the article. Per team sources, the talks between the Suns and Warriors have never progressed in any serious manner. So, while it’s certainly notable that Phoenix is being so aggressive with this contract offer, four years in a combined 90 million per ESPN, that part is irrelevant so long as Golden State continues to show zero interest in what the Suns have to offer. As for the Kings, which last spoke with the Warriors earlier this week, team sources say they’ve offered a three-year $63 million deal for Kaminga in a proposal that would send veteran guard Malik Monk and their 2030 first pick, a first round pick, lottery protected, to the Warriors. If that pick doesn’t convey, then the Warriors would get the least favorable of the Kings or San Antonio’s first round pick in 2031. Those protections have been the primary sticking point, team sources say, as the Warriors have insisted that the first rounder be unprotected, thus the stalemate. there also and that and again there’s the protections that you have to discuss and then you have this part of it after he talks about the the protections and the stalemate. He says warriors would have to move more salary elsewhere to stay under the first apron likely Moses Moody or Buddy Healed. So, not only are they getting this pick or not only are they giving up Jonathan Kaminga, but they’d probably have to give up Moses Moody or Buddy Heield in order to take on Malik Monk and to get that 2030 first round pick, which is a lottery protected. So they’re in the position right now where number one if they they they’re basically saying if we’re giving up Jonath Jonathan Kaminga and Moses Moody or Buddy healed we want that pick unprotected and the Kings can say to bleep off if they want because and I see it coming through on the text line the Kings would not get Moses Moody or Buddy healed. They’d have to go somewhere else. The Warriors are just needing to make that money work and send somebody else out. I I guess technically I technically I think the Kings could, but I it pro they probably wouldn’t get one of those guys. I mean, like you said, they could. Yeah. But the more likely scenario is the Warriors get draft picks back to send one of them to a third team. Exactly. or Sacramento finds a third team for them and sends Buddy and and someone else. I’m not again I don’t know who it would be, but maybe maybe it’s part of a D Rozan thing. Who knows? Yeah. So, that was the latest update on Kaminga from Sam Aik’s point of view. And now to me, how many times would you say an article like this has come out and then that deal ended up happening, right? It almost feels like once they start putting stuff out like this, highly doubt that a m their minds are going to be changed. That’s what it feels like to me. A lot of times this stuff comes out and it’s after the fact. Okay, cool. Now we’re gonna give it to Sam Aik. Now we’re gonna give it to Shams to Anthony Slater just to give everybody an update. But I don’t see the Warriors, hey, here’s another update. The Warriors just changed their mind. I think this is where they’re currently at and this is the stalemate. Maybe the Warriors change their mind, but I think it is more in the camp of do the Kings give a different pick, right, if they want in order to just get this thing done. Because if Malik Monk is this expendable to you, you tried to move him, you were trying to move him off for Dennis Schroeder. Okay. And he’s been in every conversation that you’ve had. Everybody has, but he it seems like you are you want to move him. Let’s not forget the Westbrook thing from the beginning of the week. This whole thing comes full circle. So, you want to bring Westbrook in. You’d like to move off. And Westbrook, I would hope possibly pray that it’s a one-year contract. You want to bring Russell Westbrook in. You’d be getting off a three-year contract for a position that you’re just not seeming to value the same way. and you’d be adding somebody that you’d believe to be a cornerstone moving forward at 22 years old and you’d have him on under contract for the next three years and hopefully for he just stays in Sacramento because it has worked out. So from the Kings perspective, Malik Monk, it just doesn’t seem like the plan is for him to be in that locker room and they’re making it pretty clear of that. I mean, this stuff has been happening the whole time with him. So, the Warriors know that. So, maybe the Warriors, and this is why when this stuff gets out, maybe the Warriors are looking at the King saying, “Well, well, it’s already been reported a ton that Malik Monk doesn’t have a lot of value. So, you’re giving us Malik Monk.” And I was talking to somebody and they said, “Malik Monk’s value versus how he actually plays are two different things.” I don’t doubt it. That’s on the Warriors to want to believe that, right? But we know all the reports about Malik Monk’s value. So, you’re telling me we’re going to get Malik Monk, who we like but don’t love, and we don’t love his three-year contract. You y’all know we don’t want three years, but we’ll take it. We’re getting this 2030 protected pick, which is probably going to move to 2031 and be the worst out of it’ll be whatever the Spurs, right? Because the Spurs are going to be pretty good. So, it’s or it’ll or they’ll make the playoffs and it won’t be worth much. Exactly. Exact. Well, that’s what I’m saying. Either way, it ain’t going to be a great pick for us. And we have to move off of the last the only the only con the only second contract we’ve given out from our draft picks within the last five years. Or a a a pretty well-liked guy who’s been fairly productive for us in Buddy Heel, one of those guys. I don’t know. I don’t know it. You can look at it from the Warriors p perspective and say it’s not enough or you could say, you know what, that’s plenty to just be done with the headache because I I I think the reason I’m not moving if I’m the Kings is because again, if the Warriors know everything about Malik Monk’s value or his perceived value, the Kings know everything about how Jonathan Kaminga is holding up the two other guys you want to bring in. Now, nobody is doing Al Horford ain’t picking up a basketball now. So, I don’t know how much they’re tripping over we want to get it done because clearly Al Horford and the Anthony Melton don’t plan on going anywhere else. That’s what we talked about earlier in the week. But even still, to just finalize things going into training camp where the Warriors have had some issues before in training camp, a Royal Rumble is what training camp was a couple years back for them. So, they would like to have no drama so the Kings can say, “We’re kind of staying as it is. because we know you’re not just losing Jonathan Kaminga and and Moses Moody or Buddy Heield for Malik Monk in a protective first because you’re also going to have the ability which you don’t right now to add Al Horford and DeAnthony Melton. know it’s not completely apples to apples maybe apples to pairs but you could say we are giving you the abil you’re losing and again it’s has to be said like this because he is holding up those conversations you’re losing Jonathan Kaminga and let’s just say Moses Moody let’s just say that you’re losing Jonathan Kaminga and Moses Moody right in return you’re getting a protected firstrounder in 2030 Malik Monk who we can talk about value, but you know you need another score and you get to finalize the Anthony Melton and Al Horford, right? Which I don’t I guess if if Kami just drags this thing to October 1st, do they just sign do they just sign them anyway? There does seem to be a holdup because they don’t know how much money is available. Yeah. And by the way, that also includes GP2. Are they going to be able GP2 as well? They don’t know if they’re going to have enough money to bring him back. Seth Curry’s probably coming on the minimum, but they can’t finalize that deal until they know how much money is there. So, like they have to I think they only have like nine players right now. They have to fill out the rest of their roster before October 1st. So, the Kings can continue to play hard ball. They can try to find another pick and maybe lessen the protections. Definitely nothing around 2026. That is untouchable. Unless it’s the Hornets second. I’m saying no first rounders. Yes, I got you. No first rounders in TW. That is No, no, no. That’s not possible. But could we could we see the Kings just say we can give you a little bit more and that’s it. That we understand where you’re at. That’s it. Because Kaminga at 21 million a year, right? That’s pretty good. There’s only there’s only one thing that gives me a bit of cause to pause with Kaminga. And as much as I kind of caped up for him yesterday, I would be worried about this and I’ll tell you what it is when we return. Al Salak on sports. Hello, I’m Frank Co with Retirement Security Centers with the week economic update. Federal Reserve voted 9 to2 to keep the benchmark Fed funds rate steady at 4.2 to 4.5% marking the fist rate meeting without a change. Notably, two governors appointed by President Trump descended, favoring an immediate 25 base point cut. The Fed stressed that inflation remains above its 2% goal and that economic activity had moderated the first half of the year. Chairman Pal emphasized the committee will weigh incoming data before adjusting policy. Meanwhile, the US economy rebounded in quarter two with real GDP growing at an annualized 3% after a half% contraction in quarter 1. Much of the turnaround stem from a sharp decline in imports, which count negatively in GDP, plus a pickup in consumer spending. Still, economists caution that underlying demand remains soft for households and businesses. The takeway is clear. Rates stay elevated for now. And while headline GDP looks strong, sluggish consumption and investment could cloud the outlook in the second half of the year. How might this affect you or your family? You can join the show by texting 9163391 11140 on Sack Town Sports. Brett Seagulls joins us in 15 minutes. 15 minutes to give us the newest update and what else he’s hearing on the Jonathan Kaminga front. Let’s start here. Okay. And this is the one thing I’d be worried about. And maybe this is fair, maybe this isn’t fair. But as much as I think Jonathan Kaminga is within his right to be annoyed with Golden State, to waste Golden State’s time, the same way he feels like Golden State has wasted his time and his career over the last couple seasons. We went through that timeline yesterday. When you do something like this, there’s always going to be a worry that you might pull something like it again. Right. The first time we saw when James Harden did the fat suit thing, he kind of got typ casted as a person who is going to wake up one day whenever he feels like and just bounce. And to be honest, he kind of did do that multiple times. He did it once, then he was in Philly, then he was in Brooklyn, then he wanted to get out of Brooklyn. Kyrie, all those guys on the Nets, KD, Kyrie, there are just certain players that you just all right, or you’re just never going to be happy, right? It happens in the NFL as well. Okay, you’re not happy again. Like Brandon Aayuk, I think he was well within his right to want to get paid. or Debo, right? These guys that want to get p Okay, it’s time to get paid again. And are are you are you always going to put up a stink when that happens? I would be worried slightly. I’m not saying I wouldn’t do it, but you know, he wanted 30 million. You got him at 21 a year, right? So, you’d have him for three years. Obviously, that first year could go great and then going into that second year, right, where now you already have to have extension conversations real quick. So, that three-year deal, he’d have to have a pretty good season this season because then you’d only have two years left on the deal. And you could you could play that one out, but I would be worried that he’d be in a huge rush to get that money back. Let’s say he comes to the Kings, they move off of D Rozan today, right? He averages 22 points per game. The Kings pretty much stink. They get a top five pick. They’re ready to rock and roll. And Kaminga says, “I got two years left on my deal.” and and and not that they would technically do anything now, but would already be talking about getting this money back. Kaminga is seeking 32 million a year. Kaminga is seeking 30 million, whatever it is, based on his outstanding play from one year on a bad Kings team might not be fair because like I said, this Warrior situation was pretty specific. But I’m just thinking about that. you kind of showed again he is entitled to do it for sure, but I would be worried that he would pull something like this again and I would just hope that he would be more real because if he thinks he deserves 30 now, if he has a season next season at in Sacramento at 22 points per game, whatever it is, that brother might be looking for 3540 million a year. Well, I guess it’s like them’s the breaks, right? Because even if he wanted to, you can’t sign the extension until after the second year. But, I’m saying even just rumblings because this is what we’ve seen with him. Sure. And and I think that’s why some people are just not interested in trading anything for Jonathan Kaminga, which look, there’s a whole lot of divas in the NBA, especially when it comes to money, especially when it comes to generational money. Like Jonathan Kaminga has made a lot of money in the NBA, relatively speaking, but the difference between $90 million and $20 million is still $70 million. And when you’re talking about the pressures of trying to perform when there’s $70 million on the line, sure, I get wanting to put your and feeling like, by the way, your organization is not supporting you in helping to get to that goal. I understand the frustrations. I understand the concerns, but like there’s a whole lot of divas and a whole lot of people who fight for money in the NBA. I can name about three of them who have their jerseys retired at that arena in Golden One Center right now. It it happens. And Jonathan Kaminga wants to get out of the situation in Golden State. wouldn’t be the first player that’s not coming to greener pastures in Sacramento if it doesn’t work out or it does and he’s looking for more money which is a I would say a good problem to have. Yeah. So that that would be it’s a good good kind of retort Kyle. I mean that that would just be something I would keep an eye on especially too with how it it feels and I’ve said this before because of how Kaminga has gone about this. I was more so surprised that the Kings were interested just from a culture fit position because with Scott Perry he’s been around the block for a while. BJ Armstrong. I’m a bit surprised that they were okay with it’s not a matter of believing in yourself obviously, but him saying, “I want the Rock.” Him saying I, you know, I should be this, I should be that. I was already a bit surprised that they were this interested in him just from a culture standpoint. That and that says something about how much they believe in him as far as his as far as his talent. But on top of that, then you bring him in and and and you know, just two different kind of thought processes where it’s, yeah, we like Kaminga. He had a good season and we’ll see what happens the next season. Either way, Kyle, we can we can even say it after the second year. Let’s say the first year goes fine. Let’s say the second year goes fine and and he plays pretty well. Maybe not all maybe fringe All-Star because it’s the West, but two years they add another They’re clearly building to something. they get a top five pick. Maybe it’s about that time with Sabonis, something like that. But my my larger point is his expectations become insane. If he thinks he’s a 30 mil, and it’s not just him, Cam Thomas and Giddy, it’s these agents are saying, “No, we’re just going to say you’re worth 30 million.” I get it. But if he has two good seasons in Sacramento, you might have you might be looking at a situation where he wants you. It’s not overpaying according to him. Nobody’s ever going to say I’m overpaid, right? Zack Lavine is not going to tell you I’m overpaid. If y’all think I’m overpaid, that’s your prerogative. But I’m not going to say it. So he So Jonathan Kaming is saying, “Well, this is what I think I’m worth.” Well, sure. But then it just becomes a contract negotiation, right? Because Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. Yeah. It’s not a problem to It’s not a problem that doesn’t exist across the league. Yeah. Okay. But how Jonathan Kaminga has gone about has had to I’ll say go about this and how he’s gone about every single year and I get it. He’s gonna get playing time. Some of these gripes won’t be there. I’m not saying not to do the deal. I’m saying you’re getting on a bargain. You know, it’s about 9 million less than what he wanted. You know, when it comes time for and maybe maybe it’s the be the better way to to go about it, right? to just know, hey, we know if he plays well, he’s gonna be about his money and we know what we’re getting into. Maybe the Kings are okay with that because at least they’ve seen it and they’re not going to be surprised, right? But I feel like even this whole conversation isn’t giving enough credit to Kaminga, right? Like if he does prove that the Warriors, like if he’s proven right, that the Warriors were stunting his development, that the Warriors didn’t prioritize him as an important piece of their core, and then he gets he forces his way out of there in a messy public divorce, gets to the place, or at least a situation he wants to go. I don’t think he wanted to go to Sacramento, but it’s like it’s a situation he wanted to go to, and he proves them completely right. I mean, I not to, you know, bemoone him for some of the behavior stuff that I I get why I get why people are put off by the way he’s going about it, right? But if he gets to Sacramento after all of that and is proven right, yeah, I would be loud and obnoxious too about it. If I were proven like everything I was saying was right and I had to force my way out and then I turn into a 20 point per game guy. Yeah. I deserve my money cuz look, I was right the whole way. Yeah. It It turns into a It turns into a semantics thing where we need to know if the team is winning. We need to know if it’s just him cooking on a bad team. It’s just largely something that I would keep an eye on because I’m just looking here, Kyle, and the CBA is changing everything, but I’m looking here and you got Jaylen Green at 35 mil. He’s never been an all-star, right? guys that have never been allstars. Jaylen Green at 35 mil. Aaron Gordon at 34 mil. Drew Holiday 33. That’s a bad contract. Julius Randall 33. Okay. So, it’s just a matter I I’m just thinking based on Jonathan Kaminga’s thought process now, if he does cook for two years, that brother might be looking for 50. He might be looking for a 50 burger. I Michael Bridges just got 160. Why wouldn’t he believe me? That is true. And that that’s also wild. We’ll we’ll discuss that as well. When we return, as we mentioned, Brett Seagull will join us to give us his thought process on how all of this is shaking out with the Sacramento Kings and John the Kaminga. Alan Sal, Sack Sports. Talk about Jim Harbaugh and the return of Trey Lance and he looked good. All this stuff, the Kaminga stuff has has finally cooled off and then Sam AI comes out with an article and of course a lot of this stuff is a bit past tense, but it it shows that, you know, maybe some of this is going on. Were you a bit surprised at some of the information that came out today from Sam Amik? I know you’re you’re very plugged in, but just from the standpoint of I guess Malik Monk and and the Warriors even saying no to that. Well, there have been questions about if there had actually been an offer including Malik Monk or not. I mean, there was talk of it of, oh, they don’t like the Devin Carter Dar Sard deal. Could Monk possibly be involved? What would the new offer look like and obviously Sam a colleague over at the athletic confirmed that there is an offer out there involving the league monk? We knew about the first round pick. We had reported on that at Clutch Points that they had included a protected first round pick in their offer of Star and Deon Carter and now obviously that offer has been upgraded to Monk and that protected first round pick. But there still isn’t any movement on the Jonathan Kaminga front. It’s just kind of more details coming out about what is actually out there and kind of what the Warriors options are at this point. But they’ve completely shut down sign and trade discussions. To my knowledge that there hasn’t been any movement on the Suns front. I believe Sam A reported that. We’ve reported that at Clutch Points as well that there is nothing that the Suns can offer that the Warriors would like. Even if they included Ryan Dunn, which I want to make adamantly clear has not been included in any trade dialogue between the two sides, between the Suns and the Warriors, even if Dunn’s name was brought up, I’m told that that’s just not an area that they want to explore. They don’t want Grayson Allen or Royce O’Neal, and those are the two contracts that the Suns can send out to make a signing trade for Jonathan Kaminga. So, there’s no movement on that front. So now that kind of leaves the Kings as the last man standing in a way of could they get a deal done for Jonathan Kaminga this off season. The Warriors have played hard ball. They’ve insisted on wanting either Keon Ellis or Keegan Murray included in a trade package. The Kings have been insistent on that not happening. We’ll kind of see what happens because it does kind of seem like that the Kings offer is out there now and it’s up to the Warriors of whether or not they want to take it. So, and how I think we’re understanding this, Brett, is when you say, it’s funny because you say they up the offer to Malik Monk. The problem is because of the restrictions, even with the Kings upping their offer to make the money work, the Warriors would have to move off of somebody like a Buddy Heel or Moses Moody. So essentially, you go with the first package, Devin Carter, Daario Sarich, and a first, and you only give up Jonathan Kaminga, but obviously the Warriors aren’t high on Devin Carter on that package in general, but you don’t have to give up anything else or you get a Malik Monk who you might be higher on. The only problem is now you have to give up two guys that are pretty darn product or one of the guys, one of two guys that have been pretty darn productive for you in Moses Moody or Buddy Heel. So that’s that’s really the holdup, right, Brad? Or I guess the the two options that the Warriors have and they don’t necessarily like either one of them. Yeah, that’s that’s pretty much where we’re at. And when we say up the offer, it’s just from a I guess a fans perspective of what’s actually been reported and what’s out there of, hey, this offer seems like it’s better than Devin Carter and Dar S. But these options have been on the table for these teams since the offseason started. I mean, the Warriors know what the Kings can offer and they have it all listed out of different packages, whether it’s Keegan Murray, Malik Monk, whatever. But the the Kings, you’re kind of limited at this point of really what you’re able to give up because you have Demar De Rozan kind of sitting there and we talked about it last week of if you bring in Jonathan Kaminga, well, what does that mean for Demard Rosen? Because if you’re bringing in Kaminga, you’re promising him a starting role, you’re promising him being kind of one of the faces of the franchise in a way where he’s going to have the ball. He’s going to be a future part of your lineup. And if you have a team of Demard Rosen, Zack Lavine, Deonta, Sabonis, automatically right there, those are your top three guys. And so Kaminga, it’s now a lateral situation moving from Golden State to Sacramento where you were promised this kind of role, but you’re not going to get that kind of role if the Rosen’s there. So it really is an interesting situation and it does seem like all indications continue to point to Jonathan Kamingo wanting a fresh start. Basically, it just comes down to how lenient the Warriors are going to be because since the start of the offseason, they made it very clear that they’re not going to give him up for any value that they don’t want. And so far, both the Kings, the Suns, any other team that has approached them has not offered the exact value that the Warriors want. If Kaminga does return on a qualifying offer, it’s not the best scenario for the Dubs, but obviously they do view him as being a part of their roster still. They still have plans for him. Whether that’s for the first half of the season, the whole season, who knows? But they do have some plans for Jonathan Kaminga. And that’s why they haven’t been willing to give them up. The second part of what you talked about with the Moses Moody giving up him or Buddy Heield. I’m told that they don’t want to give up Moses Moody at all. That that doesn’t seem like a path that they want to go down at this time, especially given their lack of wing depth. And it does seem like that they’re holding out for something bigger. If they were to move Moses Moody, it’s not something that they would do to dump Jonathan Kaminga and whether or not they would do so for Buddy Heield. I kind of lean in the direction that they wouldn’t do that either, just because of his relationship with Jimmy Butler and how well Buddy Heield did play for them last season. Talking to Brett Seagull, Clutch Points, National NBA insider and reporter. I I want to just confirm and obviously nothing can be fully confirmed, Brett, but when an article like this comes out and a lot of it is past tense, how often does a team maybe change their mind or the negotiations, I know they can start back up, but when something like this comes out and Amit gets this information, we had Slater and Shams with the information earlier. a lot of times. Does that mean that something is is pretty much done or do you think Allan this could obviously anything could happen but Allan this thing could turn back up in maybe a week and the Warriors possibly change their mind but with information like this coming out which is very past sense this thing might be cooked. I feel like that in a week, week and a half, we’re gonna have a lot more clarity on the situation of what road this is really going down because we’re still kind of at a crossroads of well, is he going to take the qualifying offer? Is he going to take another offer from the Warriors? Is signing trade completely off the table? So, until that path is really chosen, it’s hard to necessarily say where Jonathan Kamingo will be playing to begin the 2526 season. But I I do expect maybe not a full resolution, but maybe a part resolution in the middle of August. Uh as far as teams engaging and news coming out, it’s all just leverage play at this point. It’s the team and the player both trying to create leverage over each other in a situation that’s not only turned toxic, but one in which neither side necessarily has full leverage over each other. because the Warriors while they do have the majority of the leverage like we’ve talked about complete leverage because Jonathan Kaminga can just accept his qualifying offer and that kind of dooms both sides in a sense where the Warriors wouldn’t be able to trade him in a big deal at the trade deadline. it would be under his jurisdiction given that he get the no trade clause and then from Kaminga’s point of view you’re losing out on 30 $35 million that you could have taken to bet on yourself hope that money’s there next year and the biggest caveat is you’re going to hope that you don’t get injured because we’ve seen it countless times where guys accept a qualifying offer they either have it down you or they get hurt and the one that comes to mind is Narland Noel when he took his qualifying offer years ago and turned down I believe it was like 30 or $25 million right and he didn’t even make that kind of money for the rest of his career. So, it’s definitely a risk to take that QO. Whether or not Jonathan Kaminga does, I right now, I still think that it’s just bluff and that him and his agent are trying to get the exact offer that they want from the Warriors or just to push the narrative of a sign and trade because he does not seem like he wants to be there. We’ll see what happens. I I do fully believe that we’re going to get some more details from both parties over the course of the next seven to 10 days. talking to Brett Seagull, national NBA insider reporter for Clutch Points. Brett, why exactly do you think the Warriors said no to the most recent offer? Do you think it was more about I know AI discussed the pick protection, but do you think it was more about the pick protection or the extra rotation player? I guess it could be a combination of both. Do you think if say this was December, right, and they were just matching money for a Malik Monk and they didn’t have to give up a buddy healed, do you think even with those pick protections, they’d probably say yes? Is it is it Cuz I I I looked at this and I thought, yeah, the problem is both, right? You can’t you can’t get a a low-level firstrounder and have to give up a rotation piece that has worked pretty good in your system. So far, it’s definitely both. And when you mentioned uh this happening in December or January close to deadline, it’s an interesting topic to discuss because if this was mid-season, there’s probably a lot more momentum to get a deal done because it’s a one for one player swap. You get that protected pick and if you hold out longer, maybe the protections on the pick come down. And that’s kind of where I’m at when I look at those first round picks and knowing and understanding the the avenue which the Warriors front office is operating. They’re going to want those protections either off completely or down to the fact where it would only be like a top three, top four protected pick. Um, but as far as the players are concerned, like I said, they don’t want to give up Moses Moody. I find it hard to believe that they would want to give up Buddy Heel in this situation just to get off Jonathan Kaminga. And the the big caveat here is you’re gonna have to find another team to take on one of those players because I don’t think that the Kings would be able to make those salaries work given that they’re hard kept at the first apron. Their roster is basically filled at at this time and now not only you talking about moving off of Malik Monk but now you’re going to have to move off of some of those other guys whether it’s a Devin Carter whether it’s a Demar Roen. So now you’re talking about getting a third or fourth team involved just from the Kings and the Warriors perspective. And that’s much easier to figure out in a mid-season trade than it is late in the offseason when teams have already put together their moves. They’ve already figured out whether or not they’re hardcapped. And most teams at this time aren’t in a tanking mode and they’re not in a mode where they’re just going to take on salary for the sake of doing so. Now when you look at December or January, that’s going to be a lot more easier to figure out, I would say. But I definitely think that this is something that would be a lot more uh adjustable at the trade deadline. You said with all that being said, Brett, you said based on what I saw you post on X on Twitter that if you were the Warriors, you’d do the deal. Can you elaborate on that? I feel like that at this point you’ve lost Jonathan Kamega where even if you bring him back on a contract and you want him to play for those first two months of the season, what is that going to look like? You bring this guy into training camp, especially given some problems that you’ve had in the past with your veteran players dealing with your young players in training camp and of course we’re talking about the Draymond Green Jordan Bull situation. How is that going to go over if you know that you’re bringing him back and he doesn’t want to be there? How is Draymond going to feel about that? How is Steph and Jimmy going to feel about that? And you’re basically creating a toxic environment for yourself and a very touchy subject that’s going to be discussed pretty much every single week of the regular season up until the point that you actually trade him. It it does it make somewhat sense to bring him back and trade him at the deadline for his full value amount and a bigger contract? Yes, it does from a front office perspective. But when you’re talking about team personnel, the chemistry, and just your start of the regular season, I think it kind of dooms the Warriors in a way. And much like how we saw with the Warriors last season, they were put in a spot early on where they struggled at the start of the season after that hot start. And they pretty much put themselves in a in a position where they had to win every single game down the stretch to try to avoid the playing tournament. They still ended up in that spot. And while they were one of the better teams in the league during the second half of the year, that doesn’t make up for the fact that they still struggled. And I think that if you bring up Jonathan Kaminga and bring him back, you’re going to be in a similar situation to that until you can actually make a trade to unload him. So from that point of view and that thinking, I believe it makes the most sense just to cut your losses now. Get a good player in Malik Monk that you can maybe flip down the line. And if you can get the protections down on that 2030 2031 pick, while it is a while out and it’s still years away, it’s the Sacramento Kings that we’re talking about. It seems like that they’re kind of rebuilding or retooling every three to four years over the last decade. So when you look at it from that perspective, that has a chance of being a lottery bet. Brett, could the Warriors on their end as far as just how they’re trying to resolve this with John Kaminga? Could the Warriors waver on their two-year deal and that they have out to Kaminga right now and either up that deal or remove the team option? Obviously, I think this is a big reason Kaminga is just sitting and waiting. Do you see them kind of budging on that two-year deal specifically? And I think that’s kind of what Kaminga is is banking on. I think that there’s some stipulations like you mentioned in the deal that can be adjusted whether it’s the option. Um obviously that that uh the no trade clause that he would get from it needs to be waved and that that’s a starting point for the Warriors that they won’t even renegotiate that. That has to be gone. the option. Could there be a trade kicker? Will you up it to three years? I think those are details that you could still talk about, especially since Aaron Turner, Jonathan Kamega’s agent, came back and offered that three-year deal to them. So, I think that there’s a little bit of wiggle room there. But in terms of the base compensation of that two-year $45 million deal, that’s been in the ballpark for the last two and a half, three weeks from what I heard, even before summer league bet, they weren’t going to exceed that 20 to$23 million range. that comes down to 22 and a.5 million. So everything makes sense there. They’re not going to move off of that kind of money. That that is the money that they are offering Jonathan Kamega. They’re not going to increase it to say 25 26 27 million per season. If they do give him a third year, it’s just going to be on top of what they’ve already offered. So now you’re looking around, just doing a quick math in my head, I think it’s around like 6570 millionish for three years. So I can I see them changing their stipulations? give it a very small percentage. So, right now, Alan, I feel like that the Warriors are basically saying, “Here’s our offer. You can take it and take the money and we can move you at the deadline or you can go ahead and accept your qualifying offer and run the risk of losing out on all that money. Run the risk of getting hurt and I don’t think either side really wants that qualifying offer, but at the end of the day, if that’s the only thing on the table for Kaminga to maximize his value in quotes and in their mind, then I guess he would take it. But I I just think that this is a big game of chicken and and they’re just calling each other’s bluff and and whoever blinks first is going to wind up being the loser in the situation. Brett Seagull, Clutch Points, National NBA insider and reporter. Brett, one more for you from the Kings perspective. Does this feel like the hard stop moment for the Kings? Do you think from their perspective they could be squeezed like we talked about maybe a pick with less protections just from the interest level? Right. It keeps on it started out at the Kings are just checking in on Jonathan Kaminga. They’re still at the table. They I think they kind of want to lock this down before he gets to any type of free agency and and they could get him at 21 million a year and I think they like that as well. Do you see a world where they they cave a little bit and maybe give a a different pick that is unprotected or do you think this is the Kings like you said with the Warriors? Hey, it is what it is. Take it or leave it and and it’s up to you to take that gamble. Do you think the Kings are at that same spot where they’re saying this is what it is, we will walk away or just every time we think the Kings are out, they squeeze a a little bit more. Do you think they’re finally leaving the table like Shark Tank and saying they’re out, or do you think, “All right, fine. We’re this close. Here’s a pick with some version of less protections.” It certainly feels like this is the final variation of a trade that they’d be willing to do. Like we said, they’re not going to give up Keon Alice. They’re not going to give up Keegan Murray. They’ve been off the table in these discussions. Malik Monk, whether or not the Warriors want him or not, I guess we’ll find out. I’ve been told that they don’t want to take back long-term contracts. He still has two more years after this season left. But when you look at the type of player that they need and scoring off their bench, it does make sense that Malik Mug could be a player that could do a lot of good for Golden State. Whether or not the Kings are willing to give up those protections on the pick, I don’t believe that they will. I think that they could come down just slightly, maybe by two, three, four picks on that protection, but they’re not going to make a pick that far out unprotected. Scott Perry in his front office isn’t dumb. They know what they’re doing and they’re not going to be taken advantage of in a situation of a player that doesn’t even want to return to his team as a restricted free agent. So, it does seem like this is the final variation of a trade. But my honest opinion, Allan, and given how far we’ve come, and some of it does contradict a lot of what’s being said and what we’ve even reported, but I think that the most likely path is still Jonathan Kaminga signing that two-year deal with the Warriors, returning and figuring this out before the trade deadline simply because the Warriors just are not involving themselves in those sign and trade talks anymore. there’s not a lot of value for them to get and they can get much more at the trade deadline when teams are figuring out what exactly they want when they see where teams are in the standings and obviously if Jonathan Kaminga is able to play and he plays up to the level that he was at the end of last season that’s only going to increase his value and incentivize more teams to trade for him. So I just I don’t see a scenario in which the Warriors cave. I don’t see a scenario in which another team is really going to cave. And that’s kind of where we’re at right now. Brett Seagull, thank you so much for joining us on a Friday, man. Enjoy your weekend and we will talk to you again soon. We really appreciate it and thanks for all your good work keeping us up to date on all things Jonathan Kaminga and the Kings. We will talk to you soon, my guy. Sounds good, Alan. Thanks. I appreciate it. That was Brett Seel, Clutch Points, National NBA insider and reporter. Okay, you know I love my handshake agreements. All right. I want to know how deep a handshake agreement could go. Right. If if they want some resolution that is just not happening and the team option thing, Brett says he just doesn’t see the the Warriors moving off of it because hey, here are the two options. You can run us as late as you want to run us. the two guys that we’re adding, one is 48 years old and now Horford and the other one’s coming back from ACL and the other one is our best player’s brother. So, we think we’re going to be able to add them and we’ll be okay. That’s just how how it goes. So, fine. If you want to take all that time, you can take all that time once that happens though. Or or to stop that from happening. Going back to the Demar De Rozan thing, how you know Brett has agreed with us and there’s no room for Kaminga to run with Demar De Rozan on this team and I I you could substitute Zack Lavine as well, but I just think that based on how they play Demar Rozan and and Kaminga, it just wouldn’t work. So could there be a situation where there is a understanding that Demar will be moved even if it allowed Kaminga to sign the deal, right? Hey, we’re at a stalemate right now, okay? Because of the restrictions and Malik Monk, we can’t give up Moses Moody. We we don’t want to give up Moses Moody. We don’t really want to give up Buddy Heield. If you sign the dang contract, right, the Kings have something cooking with Demar. This which is what I alluded to. Was that last Friday when Dunk Central got a long This been a long week. My goodness. Last Friday with that handshake agreement. It’s in place and we get to January. Now, obviously, you throw in a different team and anything can happen. Maybe they changed their mind. But if it was, it doesn’t have to be Terry Roier, but some expiring contract that matches Demar because I I just saw you could do Chris Middleton makes I think six million more than Demar, but it’s expiring. Or CJ McCullum, all all expiring contracts. There’s a few of them. Yes. So, you get you you get Dear out of there almost preemptively, right? And then when January comes around, you make a decision there. Now, I think that because I think that would be and then at that point it could be Malik Monk straight up and you say, “Hey, it’s Malik Monk for Kaminga. Kaminga is sitting at 22. Malik Monk’s at 18. That money works. Bing, bam, boom. You’re done. It’s over.” So, could there be a Kaminga sign it and you’re going to essentially go to the Kings? Here’s what’s going to happen. Or is that too much to bank on? which is is unofficial, right? What if the Heat decide naturally we don’t want Demar and Kaminga is on this contract with a team option and now the Kings thought we they thought they’d be able to move Demar and now they can’t. So they can’t trade because the other part of it too now that I’m saying all this out loud is that if I’m not mistaken, they wouldn’t even need to move off of Demar at that time because then it would just be Malik money at 18. You throw in whoever Terrence to get to your 22 a year or whatever the number is. Hold on. You’re talking about in December. Now I’m saying that we’re doing two different things. Well, here’s the problem. Here’s the problem. Demar is not about the money. Demar is about the fit because they could simply move in January, right? Because first it was December. Now people are saying January. So let’s just say January. They could move Malik Monk and whoever to get to that 22 million a year. I think it was 22 and a half million a year for Jonathan Kaminga. The problem becomes, and this is what we talked about in the first segment, that money works. The problem then becomes Jonathan Kaminga being inserted into a team with Demar Rozan. Even if it’s only January, is he going to be ticked? Like, what does that look like? Right? This just goes back to that handshake agreement though that you were talking about last week, which again is not confirmed that that’s actually going to happen. But but the agreement is not about opening the money. The agreement is about opening the playing time. Yeah. essentially cuz let’s let’s say I mean we can we can navigate the the way around it but let’s say the Warriors quote unquote blink like Brett Seagull was saying that they get to September 25th and they say you know what damn it we just it’s too messy we can’t let this linger any longer let’s just take Malik Monk maybe the Kings compromise and it’s a top 10 protected first let’s just say they compromise guys. Let’s just say they make the deal. The Kings would then be in a situation where you have Kaminga, Keegan, Sabonis, Lavine, and Shruder as your starting lineup. So, even if they brought D Rozan back at training camp time, either D Rozan’s starting over Kaminga or D Rozan’s going to the bench as a very expensive sixth man. Technically not though, because because that money is not guaranteed yet. No, it is for this year. Oh, for this for this year. Yes. Yeah. I’m saying I see what you’re saying. This is before Yes. This is before training camp. I see what you’re saying. So in that situation, D Rozan would be coming back as a sixth man anyways, right? And again, not because it’s for the better of the team. It would be because the Kings roster just doesn’t make sense at that point, right? They got Kaminga. They the Kings would have essentially said, “Let’s get Kaminga at a discount and we’ll figure out the rest later.” And maybe that means D Rozan for Terry Rosir in two seconds just to do right by D Rozan. Maybe it means D Rozan comes off the bench as a sixth man until December and they can figure out a deal then. But they would essentially be saying just let’s get Kaminga in the door and we’ll figure out the rest later. Seems messy but less messy I think though than the Warriors bringing back. Oh for sure. And I was gonna say less messy, but if your overunder is 34 to 35 and a half games, it’s kind of the season to be messy, right? The Warriors being messy when they’re trying to squeeze out one more championship is completely idiotic. The Kings maybe being a little bit messy with a Demar De Rozan and the team and a team not really picked to do anything anyway. You might as well just just get it all out now. when you’re arguing with somebody and then you kind of go down that path and they say, “And you didn’t do the dishes last week. Well, just get it out now. Let’s just get it out now so we can move forward.” Exactly. Like Demar, but also you can just go to him and be like, “Damar, we’re sorry.” Okay. We’re we’re try Like it’s not like there’s ill will or bad intention. It’s like we’re sorry that we’re going in this direction. We’re going to try and do right by you the best we can. It doesn’t have to be as messy as the Kaminga situation. It’s like we’re going to try. It’s not perfect, but we’re sorry. But again, and that’s a fine situation to find yourself in cuz like like Brett outlined, whoever blinks first is probably going to end up being the loser in this situation between Kaminga and the Warriors. And if that blinking is done by the Warriors, then the Kings might get a 22-year-old who might be able to score 20 points per game at a discount. When we return, let’s keep the conversation going. We have that wild Sabonis trade for you. And speaking of trades, this highlevel NFL player has just requested a trade 7 minutes ago. We’ll tell you who it is when we return. It didn’t feel All the shows flew by, but the fact that we had Brett on a week ago, that feels like two weeks ago to me. Yeah. I don’t know how to explain it. The week didn’t go by slowly, but it felt like that. It’s hard to believe it was a week ago. People were trying were trying to attack me over Keon Ellis. Okay. So, it sounds like you’re saying the show’s week went by fast. Yes. But your weekend in San Francisco felt like 5 days. Probably. Yeah. Well, that’s part of it, too. Yeah. Yeah. That is from Adam Shfter. That happened right before the break. So, we’ve seen this before. I mean, it’s like a a yearly ritual with the Cowboys. one of their players requesting a trade and that’s how they want to do business. So, we talk about them. Papa added that he looks forward to returning soon, but in the meantime will hand over his radio hosting duties to his co-host Greg Silver. Aside from his radio and TV gigs, the 62-year-old has been the radio voice of the 49ers since 2019. I’ve met him a couple times, got to hang out with him in particular once and he’s always been really nice to me, offered me a lot of advice in my career. And and yeah, that that’s pretty much it. And we’ll we’ll keep you uh in the loop and anything that we hear in that regard. Getting back to what is cooking with Jonathan Kaminga and the Kings. I I don’t see the Kings kind of bing on this, Kyle. It can’t be 2026. I think 2027, even though it’s not supposed to be a good draft, it just seems too soon. Right? If you’re Scott Perry, I can’t I don’t want to lose control. 2027 is going to be here before you know it, right? The 2030s just feels better. Hey, I don’t know where the heck I’m gonna be in the 2030s, but 20 2026, hell no. 2027, no thank you. Even though it’s supposed to be a very, very weak draft, how much do you want him? How much do you want him? Or do you think we’re going to be able to get him? Right. the Keon Ellis and we’re going to replay uh what Dan Favlli had to say yesterday that clip about Keon Ellis and why he thinks that Keon Ellis is probably going to stay in in the purple and black but anything can happen. How do you feel about Kaminga? We read off about four or five teams just from a cap space perspective that would be interested in Kaminga. How much do you want him? Are you willing to see what happens when you uh when you allow him to get the free agency? Okay, so here’s where I kind of go back and forth on the 2026 versus 2030 cuz I I disagree slightly because go on. If it’s going to be lottery protected, I don’t care when the pick is, right? We just saw this with the Clifford, right? a a lottery protected pick in 2027 is the same as a lottery protected pick in 2025, which is to say you’re not losing tremendous value either way. Okay? If the Kings are going to have to remove some of the protections, right? Warriors want unprotected, Kings are offering lottery protected. Let’s say they compromise at top eight, which is what uh Brett Seagull brought up in the the clutch point story, the Seagull Scoops. Mhm. earlier this week. If you’re going to compromise, I would rather compromise in the short term than in the long term because to your point, you have no idea what situation you’re going to be in in 2030, right? You’re betting on you’re going to be good in 2030. Okay. But the the Spurs were smart to get the pick swap in 2031 versus the pick swap now because you know the Kings are going to be at least decent, right? They’re going to be what? They had the 13 pick the last two years in a row. You’re hoping that down the road they’re going to be in a position where you get that pick. So that’s kind of the tough part I’m with. I would rather control it now knowing work for the Kings and you might get canned in three years. But that’s again that goes back to the deer and fox trade. Am I making a am I not making a trade for the good of the organization even if I’m not going to be there? Right. Right. Is my job to protect my job or is my job to protect the best interest of the organization even if I’m going to get fired? Right. That’s just a leadership conversation we don’t have to have. Yeah. And I I hear your point of it and why and why they might want those uh they might want more freedom further down the line just because you never know. Hey, always be prepared. Boy Scout, whatever it is, Girl Scout, hey, always be prepared. I I understand your thought process on that one. as far as Kaminga and whether I think the Kings will easily or not easily be able to uh get him later down the line if they don’t get him now. I think that is the reason I’m I’m more so thinking fine. It ain’t it ain’t going to be 2026, but where how can we make this thing work? To your point, Kyle, 2027 top eight protected. The everything after outside of eight got to be trash. that that’s how they’re talking. So that’s more so the draft class stinks. Yes. It’s going to be historic trash. So let’s just get this thing done. You you’ve come so far if you’re the Kings. If you and you get to hold on to Keon, you can only keep so much. Now I get it. The Warriors and Kaminga, they only have so much leverage. But now you’re the Kings. You’re taking a chance. So it’s the age-old question. How much do you want Kaminga? Do you think that Kaminga is worth at 22 and you draft 27 year olds anyway? Do you think at 22 it’s worth a top eight protected in 2027? Just do it. I mean, I guess what’s tough though is that I guess my philosophy if I’m building any team is especially the NBA where you’re like allowed to trade picks eight years down the road instead like the NFL you can’t trade picks more than three years down the road. I think I I’m just of the opinion if you’re not a if you’re not 100% going to be a championship contender, which is to say if you don’t have one of the five best players in the sport and you know you’re going to have that player for five years, I’m keeping my future as flexible as I can, right? Because you have no idea what the next deal down the maybe you don’t get Kaminga, but maybe not getting Kaminga is the reason you get Brandon Miller, right? You have no idea what’s going to happen. Now you sound like Now you sound like when one door closes, another one opens. Everything happens for a reason. That was the funny thing I saw with the Padres’s fans yesterday trying to justify trading for Mason Miller. They’re like the the farm might be depleted now, but the thing about farms is that if you treat it right, there’ll always be another harvest. Yeah. Well, we we’ll see what they’re harvesting in a couple years. And but that’s the same thing with the Kings, right? Sure. the 13th pick this year might have been nice and and the Hawks traded it for um the Hawks traded it for Derek Queen and then they got the Pelicans pick next year which would have been nice to have if you were the Kings. But everyone agreed even if they lose the 13 pick, I just don’t want to keep having to worry about the Kevin Herder pick, right? Because you’d rather keep the future flexible than have to compromise in the short term. You could see why the Kings should walk away. You You should see why the Kings should do a little bit more. You can see why the Warriors should walk away. You could see why the Warriors should just take the deal. There’s a million ways to look at this thing. Let’s look at a different trade that I cooked up in my head. These were the hints. Eastern Conference team, they’ve already made a a big move. And Kyle, you were shaking your head as if you had figured out a an actual trade for this team to start the show when I mentioned this team. So, you have one that you think is somewhat realistic? I do believe I do. Okay, we’ll get your guesses on what that team or who that team is and whether or not you would do this deal. I think I’m doing it right now and I don’t even know what it is. Okay, 12:00 we get Chris Watkins thoughts on everything going on as far as Jonathan Kaminga and Sam A and Brett Seagull and Anthony Slater. And we got to put Seaman’s name on it, too. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Slater. Come here, man. Hey, let me Hey, hey, hey, put my name on that article, man. This is getting more John Gruden every time you do it. Hey, hey, come put let me let me put that name on that article. Let me put my name on that, man. That seem that seems like it was two weeks ago, that bit. That bit was Wednesday. Wednesday, the fastest long week ever. That’s that’s what we’re dealing with here. And then tomorrow I have to throw out the first pitch at the Yolo High Wheelers taking on the Oakland Ballers. I don’t know if I’m going full arm, full full wind up here. That is that that’s that’s what’s on my mind right now. But besides that, okay, if you guessed as far as this team, I thought about going all in adding Damont Sabonis. If your guess was the Orlando Magic, you would be correct. Yesterday before or last night or technically probably this morning. Thank you. Got to get a little bit more sleep. Don’t tell my wife. I’m sitting there grinding film on Daycoin Ploudin. I’m also thinking about hm what who are teams that are interested in Damonte Sabonis? We’ve done all this John the Kaminga talk and Zack Lavine, he gets brought up Demar De Rozan. I’m just curious who would work, right? Or who’d be interested in a Damontis Sabonis and and the magic just stuck out to me. They are a a a team with a budding superstar in PAO. They got Fron Vagner. Now, you might question some spacing a little bit. Fron can shoot it. He just got a weird hitch. And Paulo is is still developing as a shooter, but the dude is just a stud. They go out and they get Desmond Bane. They now have they they get Jaylen Suggs back for now if if he’s taking time away from hanging out with Haley Van Lit and is available to play as he gets paid $35 million for some odd reason. You have the, you know, a pretty decent bench as well, but it still feels like they haven’t fully gone all the way in. So I fire up fans spo yesterday and Kyle I never got fully there but with Goa Badaz you got Taius Jones now Mo Vagner on a one-year deal and then a bunch of players that I’m just not sure what exactly they’re going to do with and they’re not going to get runway. And by the way they got shout out Orlando Robinson who I also think was there at media day. I also think scal I also think scowl is there now. Yeah, he’s not on I think you’re right, but he’s just not on their fans post. So guys like that, the Tristan D Silvas of the world, the Jet Howards of the world, and somebody on this chat is always bringing up Anthony Black. You know, I love Anthony Black. Could there be a world where the where the Magic say I think that a highlevel Damonte Sabonis where we’re already doing weird stuff at the point guard position anyway because Paulo handles the ball so much Damonte Sabonis might fit what we’re trying to do. So, that was my thought, Kyle. And it sounds like you were able to take the baton and get it over the finish line for a trade that the Orlando Magic and Kings might be able to cook up. Yeah, you threw the idea at me and I just locked myself in the in the dungeon to do the the brunt work. But, um, just tell the people the deal you had originally wrote in our rundown. It it it wasn’t clear. It wasn’t green. It wasn’t a success in in fans, but it was some version of the Magic get Damonte Sabonis, the Kings would get uh Wend Wendell Carter Jr., Jonathan Isaac, Anthony Black, and some sort of filler. Yes. So, we can do that deal if we throw in Goa Bataz, which is I kept him because they’d need some type of backup, but I guess they could get the backup. Uh, you know, we can throw them Drew Eubanks if you want. So, they get Drew Eubanks, Kings get or Terrence Davis, one of the two. And that works. Yes. But the Kings wouldn’t need all those centers. So, uh, we would essentially reroute Goa Bataz to another team for a trade filler. So, so you just get those three players that you were talking about and then we’ll just reroute Goa Bataz for a second round pick. We can send to the Magic or something. So, so yeah, high level. Let’s high level the trade for everybody listening. Yeah, thank you Chris. I just got my Bond me. Yeah, he dropped mine off too. In the scenario I did, we sent like Betaz to the Raptors. The Raptors sent us like Oiabaji and we’re going to wave him. So, like ignore ignore. Just give us the highlevel trade. It would be for Damontis Sabonis in your scenario. The [Applause] they would get Damontus Sabonis and either Drew Eubanks or Terrence Davis. In exchange, the Kings would get again ignoring that they’re going to wave Oiabaji, Jonathan Isaac, Wendell Carter Jr., Anthony Black, a 2027 pick swap with the Orlando Magic, a 202 uh sorry, a 2031 pick swap with the Orlando Magic and like four second round picks. That’s a done deal. I It is not for me. No, thank you, Kyle. I don’t want that if I’m Sacramento. I do. You just got an amalgamation of guys. Say it again. Wendell Carter Jr. Bang. Jonathan Isaac, bang, bang. Anthony Black, bang, bang, bang. A 2027 pick swap, mini bang. 2031 pick swap, mini bang. And uh four second round picks. You know, there are Magic fans that out there that would say that’s too much. I’m sure there are, but that I just don’t Look, the the Kings got to get this right. If they’re doing that, they are going to get it right. That’s getting it right. But it’s not future capital, right? I And you’ve done not You’d have Think about this, Kyle. You’d have this. This is where they would need to go. Anthony Black’s 21. You got those picks. Anthony Black’s 21 when uh Wendell Carter is what is he 26 years old. You go get Kaminga at 22. You have Keegan at 25. You have Nick Clifford in the draft picks and Maxim Reno. have Keon, you probably stink. You go get Debansa. I’m not going to call him Adabansa today. You go get the Bansa or the good boozer. Let’s go. All right, fine. Let’s Let’s go. Let’s Let’s pull up our tankathathon and let’s see. Let’s see what we end up with before I decide to accept or decline the trade. And this is completely random today. I don’t. Okay, they dropped to the ninth pick, but it’s a good draft. It’s top 10. Uh, let me do it again. They’re the fourth pick. The second time they got the fourth pick. Come on, man. It’s It’s This is This is how we This is how I win is with It’s time. This is Look, do you remember how Wendell Carter ended up on the Bulls in the in the first play or sorry from the Yeah, he was on the Bulls. Yeah. Yeah. He went to the Magic in the Nicole Vousvich trade. A trade that was universally panned as a bad trade for the Chicago Bulls because they gave up two lottery picks. I don’t think the Bulls fans, even though Vousvich has had a strange time in Chicago, I don’t think Bulls fans are like, “Wow, we are crushed that we lost Wendell Carter Jr. in that deal.” Kyle, the you just named off a ton of stuff. Wendell Carter Jr., Jonathan Isaac, Anthony Black, which I if you can get Anthony Black, great on you. And those and those two two pick swaps. Sure. One of which is not going to convey because the Kings in 2027 are going to try and be bad. And a 2031 pick swap. I think this is extremely realistic. You don’t have to do it. Yeah. Yeah. Realistic. realistic, sure. Would I do it? No. Maybe make one of those swaps a protected. Unless Unless Sabonis is saying I’m going to leave, then I guess I would I would consider it. Well, now they’re going to say, “Well, now you’re not getting Anthony Black, are you?” Well, I don’t think it’s like that because he’s still got years left on his contract. Maybe. Okay. What if you change 2027 to just a protected a protected? Well, they that’s the problem. They can’t because they gave all their picks to the Grizzlies. one of them 20 40. No, they they literally can’t. They literally have no picks to trade. They got one somewhere. They They literally don’t They cannot trade any picks. They can only do pick swaps. I’ll find one cuz again, they gave all of their picks to the Grizzlies for Desmond Bane, which is kind of crazy to say out loud. They have their They have 2031 and they have 2032. But again, you can’t trade 2031 because they already traded 2030. You can’t trade picks in backtoback years. So 31 was I was looking at the Yeah. Well, one of them. Give me one of them. You can’t trade 27 cuz that’d be back to back with 20. They got They got 27 and 20. Yeah, they’re locked up. Yeah. Again, 27 and 31 pick swaps are all they can give. Okay. Well, then add Jet Howard. Okay. That would put it that would put it over the top. Now you’re back in with Jet Howard. Oh, yeah. I love Jet Howard. Never watched him play, but I love him. 209 said 209 says, “I used to say Allan was the best at KHCK, but with this take, I’m I’m putting Whitey Gleason over him.” You wouldn’t do it. 916 says, “Thank goodness Allan is on the radio and not in the GM office.” Here we go again. Look, I was the one I said that Sabonis had the most value on the team and everybody it was you’re talking about Whitey Gleason the afternoon show said he wouldn’t get as much as Desmond Bane. So how 209 how do I drop? I’m trying to get good value off of Damont Sabonis, right? But for Desmond Bane, the Grizzlies got Contavius Caldwell Pope three future first round picks and a pick swap. In this scenario, we get Anthony Black, a pick swap, a bunch of seconds, and salary filler. And everybody likes Anthony Black until it’s time to trade for Anthony Black. Not for Sabonis. Everybody likes Anthony all day long. If you can get Anthony Black, we need a point guard. He’s 67. He’s 21. Now I’m trying to get you Anthony Black. We throw Tristan to Silva. Throw him in there, too. It’s not going to work. Throw him in there. I don’t care. Throw him in there. We’re way over time. It’s I you know who likes Tristan Silver? Chris Watkins. Maybe he can save us a at the 12:00 hour. Whitey Gleon over me. Are you crazy? Are you crazy? They said he didn’t have the same value I did. Who do you think you are? I am. Also sports. You beat me down. You can do much better than this, Allan. And if there is not a true first included in a Sabonis trade, you don’t do it. That’s from the 916 530. That is a trash trade. Allan only give up Sabonis for first round picks. 916. If I want to trade Sabonis, I want to get a bunch of picks. I definitely want to trade Sabonis, but I don’t like this trade very much. Okay. Hey, dang. It was pretty bad. You just need a couple firsts in there. I would only consider it if he’s like demanding to leave. Go get a first. The Magic literally have none. Everybody Everybody knew I was assuming you can get a first. You literally can’t because they traded them all to go find him from somewhere, man. You go find him from somewhere. 9163391 1140. Chris Watkins joins us to make sense of everything that has gone on. All right, let’s leave. I thought you guys I thought you guys said it right. I think it is. Yeah, I think you at one point you had said that that’s a it was a fair offer. I think it’s I think it’s an offer that that it would be out there. I honestly I am much more team you than like team completely throw it to the side. Completely it’s a ridiculous Yeah. I I Yeah. I I think uh to your point also like it definitely hinges on how you feel about Anthony Black and I really like Anthony Black. I know there’s a lot of uh other you know national uh I think Zack Low just actually went on a huge rant about Anthony Black. Um, you know, yeah, I I think he would definitely be the one that you’re really really selling on, but it I could re I could see it as a realistic offer. Thank you. Especially considering as Kyle laid out, the Orlando Magic have no picks and so they by nature would have to construct a deal like that. I think again it would be an option and honestly it feels like a very King’s option, does it not? Where it’s like, hey, like we want to, you know, any a pick is anybody. We we would much rather take someone that we know, you know. Hold on now. Yep. Coming from the land of the beam. Okay. Better or worse trade than what the Kings got for dear? I 100% thought this too. Yeah. 100%. Yes. That’s that is a in my opinion a a much that is the spirit of the return that if you were going to, you know, that is getting Stfan Castle. Thank you. So I was talking about this with the morning show after um they dumped Valenunis. I’m not saying I would, but a rational basketball mind could make the argument the Kings could have in February of last year sat down De’aran Fox. He got the surgery, not played him at all next season, let him walk in free agency and they would have been in a better place than had they made that trade because now it’s like the trade was Zack Lavine, Nick Clifford, Dario Sarich, the 2031 Timberwolves pick and two seconds. 209 says that’s an awful deal for Sacramento. What is in Allen’s cup? It’s just more style espresso that Pat made. This is a special Pat B brew of style espresso. Oh, we got to talk about your first pitch, man. That’s the That’s I I know Pat’s throwing out tons of first. You got to You should have talked to him about that. That’s a good point. And he was in here, too. He’s got the baseball bat story for you off air. Oh, boy. I can’t wait. Yeah, we’ll we’ll talk. Chris, you’re here for an hour. We’ll get to the first pitch which I’m throwing out tomorrow for the Yolo High Wheelers. I know they’re playing the Ballers. I have not been out to a High Wheelers game. I think they were playing at Davis. I don’t think they’re playing at Davis anymore. So, we’ll get some more info for that for anybody out there in Yellow County that might be stopping by with the River Kitty still on the road and the A’s are in town. But Chris, all right, enough messing around. All right, let’s let’s hear your thoughts. You sent us a text in the round table. I did. Not to put you on blame, but you said, “What are the Warriors doing?” Do you still feel like that a couple hours later? Yeah. Um, yes, I still do to an extent. not as strongly, but I still am just it just reeks of are you like are you actually being serious or were you ever serious like about this about any sort of trade negotiations because I think Brett just laid out beautifully that you know the the Phoenix deal is going to be no better than Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neal, right? The Kings offers both of which I think are much better than that and those are the only two people who are willing to play ball right now. And so at some point you have a guy who has expressed on many occasion that he does not want to play for you. Most recently flat, you know, the Mark, yeah, I think it was Mark Spears the other day. U yeah, just said it on some ESPN show. Um yeah, and so I I think I just don’t really see the Warriors leverage. Like I mean it’s funny that that uh Scott Perry has multiple times now used the we want volunteers not hostages because quite literally Jonathan Kaminga would be a hostage there. Uh I mean I I not trying to do the Allan you’re a warrior fan but like you know more about the like you or you at least hear more Warrior circles. They don’t have plans for this guy being on their team. Like they if he comes, absolutely it’ll be it’ll be a uh it’ll be a bonus, but it’s not it’s not in their plans. Like I just don’t I think right now they’re very much focused on obviously Steph, Jimmy, and and Draymond and making sure they kind of ring the whatever’s left out of out of that juice that they have. And you know, obviously Pods is in in the mix there and and Buddy Heield, you know, like we’ve talked about like you guys, he’s got to go. Like him him or Moses Moody have to go if uh if they’re going to do this Malik deal. It just feels like um you know, the Kings gave them that that Sarich Carter offer and they didn’t like it and the Kings said, “Okay, well, we can give you a better player in Malik, but this is what comes with it is that you have to ship off one of Buddy or or Moses Moody.” So, if you want a better player, if Devin Carter doesn’t do it for you, here’s the better player. But you’re you’ve hamstrung yourself. Like, I’m trying to make it work with you and I’ve given you a a better player that frankly the Kings are also really trying to like if every single offer here has been Malik Monk involved. I think at this point it’s very clear the Kings just don’t want him on the roster. Um, so you’re doing them a favor whether you take the the Sarich Carter deal or you take the Monk deal. Um, I just I feel like I don’t I’m just not seeing where the Warriors leverage is here. I I understand that their leverage is at the end of the day. Again, we can hold him hostage and maybe it works out the first half of the season, but I think the Warriors are trying to again win a title this year. You can’t spend time thinking about if Kaminga is like, you know, a a undercover agent here or something like like it’s just it’s just a really really bad risk for them. And I think the Kings are giving them uh the best life raft that they could give them. Uh and the Warriors feel like they’re trying to do a well, it’s just not a good offer and so we’re not going to take like we’re trying to win trades here and we don’t think that’s good value for Kaminga and I I just don’t again I don’t really see where they can uh play hard ball. Yeah. And I I I’m a little bit confused as well from the Warriors perspective because you’re saying, “Hey, you’re going to have you’re going to have to take this deal or you’re going to take the qualifying offer and screw both of us.” And we read this yesterday in that second deal, you’re essentially just saying no because if it’s at 20, what was it at 22 and a half? We did that math. You’re saying the most rec the the Sam A report. The Sam A report. It’s at 20. And we were joking about some Warriors media saying John Kaminga really isn’t missing out on that much money in the qualifying offer. We joked about it on Wednesday before we knew that there was a team option. So that’s not guaranteed money. So the Warriors are clearly going to try to trade him or just not pick up his option in that second year. So the reality is that’s 7.9 million versus what 20 the 22 and a half you’re missing out on 14 mil but you’re giving yourself total control. Yeah, that’s the if it was a fully guaranteed deal, that’s what we initially thought. Then Jonathan Kaminga, don’t Dennis Shrew yourself. No, no offense. He’s on the Kings now. Don’t do Don’t Nerland’s Noel yourself. Get your money. Yeah. With that team option that the Warriors don’t seem to want to move off of, they’re kind of doing it to themsel. They’re just a bit unserious in in all of their thought processes and negotiations. 100%. Yeah, very unserious. And like I think there’s been an unfair amount of like why did Jonathan Kaminga even take the restricted the the the the qualifying offer if he never wanted to play for them. Well, the qualifying offer is the only way he would like it. It it maximizes his potential of teams because you can then work out a sign and trade and things like that as opposed to if he were just a raw free agent. The Kings don’t have the money to go pursue him. And so I feel like I don’t know. I think, yeah, to your Warriors point too, it it just feels to me like they’re getting a little bit too lost in the uh in the politics of it. Like there there’s the basketball side of this that again we just outlined. Steve Kerr doesn’t want to play Jonathan Kaminga. Jonathan Kaminga doesn’t want to be there and he doesn’t really fit in with with Steph and and uh and Jimmy Butler except for he would be a really good uh you know life raft again to use that term for if those two guys get hurt during the year. like he would be able to kind of uh be able to to keep the the ship from sinking in theory, but I I just don’t really think it it makes sense. Like I feel like again they’re playing a basketball side and a political side or a a you know business of basketball side that they’re trying to win too hard. And I think at the end of the day, like I was thinking like I I just feel like Steve Kerr or like an old Greg Papovic or Red Arbach or Phil Jackson would just go in there and say, “Look, like I I’m not going to play this guy. I don’t want him on the team. It’s great that we could potentially maximize some sort of offer for him, but at the end of the day, if we’re getting a player that we can like, let’s just we don’t want him. Let’s get rid of him. And if we get anything for him, like that’s that’s great at this point, you Oh, and it’s funny that the that the Warriors said no because we’ve seen this before with Malik Muk. I’ll tell you what, and Malik Muk my favorite player on the team, right? And and it gets it gets lost and this value conversation and we we were discussing Malik’s timeline and how life comes at you fast, right? You get paid you get paid for it, right? But life comes at you fast. I’ll tell you this, I do not really want to see Malik Monk in a Warriors jersey. Not a I don’t know that it’s gonna So Malik Buddy Yeah. So you got just a a a army, right? And maybe maybe Buddy’s gone, but you have an army of just former Kings players in Warriors jerseys. You and then you add you add in Malik Monk who’s going to be highly motivated because Oh, okay. So you gave me this money and then then I’m out of here and there’s there is a war in there. Oh, there is. Yeah. You got Malik, then you’re able to add DeAnthony Melton, and I know he’s coming off the ACL, and you get Al Horford. Al Horford, what was it? We looked it up. He played 21. He was still close to 20 minutes a game. Might might have been over that for the Celtics, which I didn’t. I just thought he sat in the corner and stuck his elbow out and shot those three. He was still pretty bad in those 20 minutes last, you know. So, you you look at what they’re going to do there. They’ll add Seth Curry, who this has been they’ve been waiting for this. Yeah, I don’t like I don’t like the idea of Malik Monk barreling down the lane at Golden One. Okay, the year is 2020 and I He’s turning 20. He’s 27 this year. Like from 27 to age 30 the nightmares. He’s coming for everyone in that situation. Like he’s on your head too. You know he’s going to let you your head. Yeah. Okay. So, I don’t know uh I don’t know what the Warriors I know what the Warriors are thinking per se, but from the Kings perspective, what’s getting lost here is Malik would make life hell for the Kings whenever they played without a doubt. Allan, do you think they need more of those people out there already enough of them? Like, yeah, yeah, go down the list. Go ahead. Yeah, you know better than me down there. You thought it was Oh, you thought it was time to sleep. Right. Klay Thompson g me the stallion. Apparently he’s telling me he’s like me sitting courtside. Clay just giving him buckets. I can’t Oh my god. Luca, as we know, he should have drafted me out there. Then Blotty’s sitting with his pops. It’s crazy. It’s crazy, man. It’s We We definitely live in the Twilight Zone. Uh yeah. And you know, it’s funny cuz Yeah. I mean, I’ve even thought like, do you want to send Devin Carter over to Golden State? That’s obviously a much lesser risk than Malik Monk, which we know what he is um in all capacities. Like it’s it’s a really really big risk and it’s the same as you know in the past like Kings fans would be. It’s funny because there wouldn’t even I don’t even think people would want to talk in the early 2000s about the Kings making a trade with the Lakers for the same exact reason. And it feels like obviously the Kings are getting the the hyped more, you know, the the prospect that maybe is worth it, but that’s the that’s the exact same risk as as doing it is that your rivals are going to be there year after year uh multiple times a year to to rub it in your face. And it’s bad enough of Tyrese in the finals. It’s going to be bad. We haven’t even seen De’ar really play for the Spurs. Yeah, I forgot about De’Arren. There’s just so many of these guys out there already. Um, I don’t think I it’s going to be a little bit scary. Uh, obviously it’s a little bit of a lesser level than those two guys, but uh, you know, even you guys talking about shipping off Sabonis, like getting all these guys out in the wild. Uh, you know, because Sabonis is going to be in the East. He’s going to be in the with the or if you in your guys’ mock trade, the Orlando Magic might be like a top two, three team. Sorry, Kyle. Didn’t mean to lump you in with that trade. It’s all Orlando Magic throws the ideas. I go into the dungeon. There you go. That’s the process. He sends me to the dungeon to come up with his crazy trades. Yeah. I just Yeah, even that scares me. I just think uh the the more tentacles that you have out there, the the more opportunities, frankly, narrative-wise, especially when the Kings aren’t going to be in the playoffs, having Sabonis in in a potentially in a top three seed in the Eastern Conference year after year, and then having to hear the, you know, actually Dean Sabonis pretty good, pretty valuable guy like, oh, in the play, oh, you thought, oh man, he just couldn’t figure it out in Sacramento, but he’s doing great in the playoffs for Orlando. like just all you don’t want all the narratives that you wanted to happen for you to happen for somebody else and some of that is part of the blowing it up process or rebuilding process. Getting back to Malik Monk specifically and we were having some fun in case he goes to the Warriors. Do you think that we’re to the point where in a in a much lesser situation than Kaminga? Is this to the point where you’re kind of worried about the start of training camp for the Kings? Look, they’ve been over this with Harrison Barnes and Kevin Herder. I get that. Kind of a different situation because the Kings, we thought they were ascending. You You’re now talking about a guy who lived through the Armageddon, which was last season. De’Arren, his college buddy is gone. The coach is gone. And then a new G the GM who gave you the contract is gone. You immediately the confetti had just finished on falling on the floor of the finals and you’re on the trade block. Does it feel like Malik Monk probably shouldn’t even be on the team going into this season or am I overblowing it? Um no I hear you because there is like the the human element of this which uh is is very real. Like I wonder that for Devin too, like him being even a younger player. Like I I could feel Malik just saying like, “Oh, it’s part of the league. Like it happens, whatever, whatever.” But like Devin is already somebody who has a lot to prove and like now he’s being like, you know, essentially cast to the side and trying to be thrown away by the new regime in there. And I Yeah, I I just it Yes, I I would I definitely think uh that could be the case for sure. Yeah. Um, I’m just I’m just worried that again the difference between the Warriors and the Kings is that the Kings can have a bunch of drama now because they’re not doing anything, right? The Warriors can’t really afford to have drama right now cuz you got two more years of this and then it’s pods time. Maybe. Yeah. Then then it’s Pajki. Then it’s time for Pajki to cook. Nobody wants that. And that’s the one thing about the Malik situation that I or the Malik uh offer that I do wonder for Golden State if they should think about again like not the two timelines thing necessarily, but if you’re going to elongate this thing even a little bit like again Malik would be age 27 to 30 for that for the rest of his contract. like it’s not the worst to think about, hey, like what is again, what is this thing going to look like or or can we prepare ourselves or even just having a guy in his prime for the last couple years of of Steph’s career like I I think it’s I think it makes sense for them to to prioritize it. And yeah, Pajki is really I that’s what I texted you guys this morning is I don’t like I think it’s a really good deal because Pajki is really the only one that I can imagine handling the I mean Seth Curry I guess can handle it a little bit but not that’s not really what he he’s been asked to do. Uh Melton again. Yeah, a little bit for sure. Maybe as much as as Malik could. Um, and yeah, again, like Malik we’ve seen is not the primary ball handler, but it it just feels like that is a really good I understand them not wanting Devin Carter. Also, I would say like I think Devin Carter is a little bit of a clunky fit for for Golden State. Like I could see him maybe playing the GP2 role, but um you know I I don’t really know where uh like is he going to play next I guess he would have to play next to staff. I it kind of becomes the same question that we have here of what is he a point guard? What position would he play in Golden State? I just don’t know how much he would help Golden State right now. At least we know Malik would help Golden State right now. The other part of it is, yeah, the problem is, hey, we can give you Malik, but because of your jacked up situation, you have to move off of Moses Moody or or Buddy Heield, which isn’t our problem, right? But we can offer you Malik Bunk. That’s fine. you don’t want Devin Cart or Devin Carter. Obviously, you don’t have to move off anyone because of that money, right? But you don’t think that’s enough. The only option I could see and and I don’t I don’t know if this is actually on the table, where are the Warriors if it’s Devin Sarich and you just do an unprotected seventh grader, right? and just do 2031 and you just say unprotected which Kyle pretty much against you probably pretty much against the only thing was what Brett Seagull said was to maybe hey make it top eight because he was the seventh round or the seventh pick a couple years ago but the what I’m getting at is that the Kings wouldn’t want to do that because they seemingly want to get rid of Malik Mug. They’re not trying to hold on to Malik Mug. So they’re like, “No, I’m not moving on from the pit cuz I don’t want I’m not I’m not changing the protections to give you Deon Carter cuz I don’t want Malik I don’t we don’t want Malik Monk on the team.” Yeah. And it’s funny how like just the word lottery protected makes it feel like it’s got some big vault on it. It’s like I was looking at um you know just even the past couple years of those 16 through 20 picks and it’s a lot of like really solid like Jared McCain was picked 16 you know like there’s just a lot of really solid players that you can even this year like Nick was 24 or whatever like there’s a lot of players that would have been really valuable and granted this is maybe a deeper class than than most but um I don’t know I just felt like the since it was protected lottery protected maybe it’s more because the Kings aren’t likely to give it up, but even then, you still get a first round pick. I don’t know. It just I think any first round pick is going to be a good one in this deal. I don’t really know the semantics again of of trying to nickel and dime the pick protections. It just again, are like you said, I just it are you being serious about this at all? Like we you’re past that. Yeah. You’re past that, Warriors. You’re you’re done. You You had two three years to figure this thing out. Two, three years to figure this thing out. And now you want to sit here and nickel and dime and and try to take it to the flea market. It’s too late for that. It’s just too late. That’s how I feel. And yeah, I mean, it’s not our problem that you’re in a tough bind uh with this player. Like Yeah. You said, you knew this was coming up. You’ve soured the situation. It’s not working out. They’re I Yeah. And again, I don’t really know what their plan would be. uh you know they say you know it’ll it’ll be healed if he just comes in but you know it’s supposed to be a player empowerment league right like how many times have we’ve seen Ben Simmons like uh uh obviously James Harden with his fat suit like if guys don’t want to be in a situation we’ve seen that players make it uncomfortable to the point where they force the team’s hand even though they honest to goodness want to make it work out like uh if Jonathan Kaminga and granted I I do also wonder at point in this should Kings fans or any fans be concerned about this guy does seem to have like a very high opinion of of himself which is great but it’s like hey man like you only get a certain amount of leverage and Chris you’re you’re kind of wilding this brother gets signed to the Kings and he goes 20 points per game the next two years Chris’s brother’s asking for 50 million he’s holding out he’s holding out for 80 million a Yeah, he definitely I mean he cuz he’s already made it clear that like the dollar sign matters in all of this. Like he feels like he uh is being held back by Golden State and he knows his true value and he clearly wants to be paid in that $20 million range when I don’t know if he’s necessarily I don’t I honestly like I don’t know if he’s deserved it or not. Yeah, he wants 30. So I don’t know. I mean it’s just clearly a guy who uh and you know Yeah. the role in Golden State and the fact that he’s with the the ideal franchise you would want you would in an ideal world pick somebody to be groomed in like he was like the coach wanted him out. So I don’t know it’s just there’s a lot of really concerning signs that I think uh we’re just blowing through some yellow lights. One thing that I was I was trying to I guess formulate because I don’t know what to do with it, but just the idea of what if the Kings weren’t interested. What would the Warriors what position would they be in? What would the Warriors be doing? Because the Suns apparently Brett Seagull said even if they include Ryan Dunn, it would still be a no-go. And I don’t think they’re going to include Ryan Dunn. If the Kings weren’t in what would the what would the Warriors be doing? just I guess the same thing just sitting waiting. I mean, yeah, I guess because they kind of I mean, they got screwed by Brooklyn just just throwing all their money out early like that. That should have been the team that really uh was able to hold them hostage, frankly, and they they got out early. Miami was another team. They uh obviously made some moves and um and they’re now out of it. Like I yeah I I it would have been really I mean I think yeah they would have just been kind of playing st just staring at each other or he would have taken maybe some you know that that player option deal where he’s at least getting paid a little but you know we just kicking the can down the road really. Yeah and I guess that’s the other part of it. What would Kaminga be doing if the Kings weren’t interested? Would he have already said uncle? I think he’s just going to wait this thing out as long as possible. It’s just I’m just now realizing also this has a lot of parallels to the Andre Ugodala uh negotiations way way back. Like Andre Iguodala essentially used the Kings. Yeah. As leverage to get a higher Warriors contract. like I think it was like right when VC started uh ownership of of the team and so it was like you know really really obvious ties and yeah it does feel like there is potential here that he’s just like yeah yeah yeah like I tell Mark absolutely go ahead and say like I want to be in Sacramento lean on that leverage as much as possible but in reality I think Kaminga is just looking for a number and the Kings are the one who’s willing to pay it right now it’s it’s his time it’s his time and he doesn’t want anybody to stop him from getting his shine When we return, I’m not really worried about the Kings being able to move on from Demar De Rozan. Getting back into the Kings as far as certain moves they could or could not make. Chris yesterday Aik before the article he brought up some other players. He said Demar still has some market value. And he also said, “Zack, they have not found much out there for him.” Right. So, Zack, it is what it is. I think we’re all prepared to just eat the two years. I I just don’t know what else you can do. As far as Demar is concerned, I’m not worried in the slightest about moving Demar D Rozan. these insane Warrior fans talking about you need to attach a first in any type of deal. I don’t know what they’re on, but they’re tripping because it doesn’t have to happen in the Kaminga deal specifically, and that’s what they were talking about. But just in general, the idea that Demar De Rozan has just kind of dropped this far and the the Kings are going to have to offload him with draft capital, that’s insanity to me. I’m not worried at all about however this thing ends with Demar De Rozan. Are you? No, I’m not. Um I’m I’m definitely more your side as well. I think that maybe there’s just some um assumption that, you know, since he is one of these, you know, bigname highcaliber scorers that he’s probably on this 3540 million contract. And I think there’s probably just, you know, and maybe that’s more speaking from the fans perspective and not the GM perspective, but I more so just saying I think Demar’s on a on a very movable deal like $25 million uh is definitely high-end if you’re going to, you know, bring somebody off the bench at the end of the day, but uh he’s definitely a closer. So, he’s somebody that I would assume even if he’s not in your starting lineup, he would be um in that closing lineup because of just what he’s been known to do and obviously his scoring prowess, he could at the very least be used as a decoy or as a failsafe option. I don’t I Yeah, I agree with you. Like I think even on a good team, he makes a lot of sense. I think uh it’s a it’s not a crazy contract where you would have to accumulate a ton of um things like that. And I don’t think that the Kings I think the problem would be if maybe the Kings were to play hard ball and feel like we want a certain uh return for Demar. Uh but if they’re, you know, just looking for uh maybe a a a solid young role player in in exchange or maybe two players that they feel okay about, like I I just feel like it shouldn’t be tough as long as their asking price uh isn’t insane and and there’s not really much reason, especially uh given the position we assume they’re going to be in, that they should ask for a ton. Yeah, I don’t I don’t think so either. I think this is more of a hey, it didn’t work out. There’s just a level of respect with Demar. They’re not in a They’re not going to mess around. They’re going to find whoever it is. Yeah. Especially if he asks, right? It’s like a hey, this isn’t working out type thing. Exactly. So, a lot can happen. We never really We’re in August now. Literally, August starts today. And there was all of this talk. We And maybe it’s because we’re not dealing with clutch right now. But with Damonte Sabonis, I guess they had the conversation and it went well, right? With with Clutch, we had we knew timestamps. Rich Paul made sure to sit in the seat. He was sitting next to De’ar’s wife and oh well there it’s clearly happening. By the way, some one happened this summer and it lasted, you know, you got an assistant in there taking notes. We knew everything about it. Didn’t have hear anything about the Mont Sabonis. Just says, I want point guard. They say here go point guard. And they just here’s here you go. Take that as shooter. Yeah. Now be quiet and we’ll figure it out. Sure. And for Demar De Rozan, we also were supposed to have a conversation. Yeah. He was in Vegas. He was in Vegas. He was in Vegas. He was in Vegas. And I guess it happened. We don’t know. We had no clue. Yeah. No. Uh he seemed very, for what it’s worth, he seemed very chummy in Vegas. Didn’t seem like there was any awkward stuff going on. He talked with Doug, sat next to Doug, uh you know, made plans with Doug. Like they they were they were good. There was no uh nothing like no that that relationship is super solid. Um we saw him kind of tap up Scott Perry as well like Yeah. No, it seems like there it didn’t seem like there was some awkward so are we going to have the conversation in the air? Yeah. Um felt like they were, you know, just off of random vibes. It felt like they were all on the same page. Um, and yeah, I mean, again, not saying that things can’t change, but it definitely felt like, you know, there there there was a conversation that had and, you know, yeah, at least for right now, they they all understand. The one that’s really interesting is Zack Lavine. Like, I don’t know what he has to think about all of this, right? Like he’s just kind of thrown into here initially. Uh, even when he comes here and it’s continued to be that you just kind of alluded to like the owner just brought him here. Like it’s not like the previous GM had a good eye for him. It’s not like the current GM has future plans for him. Zack Lavine is just here floating. And that’s the weird one where I you know he’s already been a little bit of a floater on the fe on the on the court. Like I I don’t really know how he buys in. He’s just kind of a mercenary at this point. Yeah. And it’s just hey like I said no one waiting it out. No no no one is going to admit Yeah. I’m probably a little overpaid. No one’s ever going to admit that. But for Zack Lavine, it’s just I’m going to just take this money and I’m cool and I’m here for 2 years. That’s that’s about where I’m at. That that’s all I got. You can you can move me around. You can try, but I don’t I think I’m going to be pretty comfortable here in Oldtown or wherever wherever he’s at. The other name, and Sam Amos spoke to it, was Keegan Murray, and he said something to the point of and they got to figure out his extension or whatever it is. Yeah, I’m not weirded out yet, but I’m getting closer to being weirded out. And maybe it’s this Kaminga thing. I was talking about their priority checklist yesterday and and I guess they don’t feel like Keegan needs to be higher on it because they can just do it when they need to do it. But I we’re just assuming that they they have it on the back burner and it’s on the to-do list. No reason to not feel like that. But the closer we get, it’s you’re you’re messing around with Westbrooks and like can you just sign Keegan Murray? What’s what’s going on? I’d imagine that it’s more of like a kind of like you said, like the number is also fairly established like since Jabari Smith Jr. signed his extension, there’s already like a a pretty good uh uh safety rails for like where that contract’s going to land anyway. So maybe from a Scott Perry’s perspective and it it is actually kind of interesting as you mentioned the pecking order of things like would if Kam let’s say Kaminga does come aboard. Yeah. Do they feel like he moves up the list of of of their priorities? Like do they feel and because I I kind of think I feel this way like we’re just talking star potential. I think Kaminga has more star potential than than Keegan Murray. And so I would wonder how that would reflect and how you know Keegan’s not a super emotional guy but you know the just being like yeah like we’ll bring this 22y old guy in $22 million absolutely like we’ll do whatever we’ll trade Malik month to to get him over here. Yeah maybe Keegan starts to wonder and it is a little bit of old regime new regime too like Scott Perry did not pick Keegan Murray. Yeah, it’s not a guarantee. More is is is I guess where where I would lean on your side is that it’s not like everything leans up to this is a like there’s no question this is going to happen. I think there are definitely some some spikes that we’ve seen in the road because they obviously once Jabari Smith got done they could be they could have all these they could have all these thoughts and be in the conversation with Kaminga. They could still do the Keegan deal. That’s not affecting their money this season. you I I’m starting to worry and we’ll talk about it on the other side. Do they have their hands in too much? Because you still got to figure out Keon because you don’t want him to hit free agency and you’re just inserting yourself into this Kaminga conversation which I don’t mind but you’re hurting some feelings on the way though, right? And and and Zack Lavine’s just there. He’s just there waiting to shoot a corner three. That’s right. Let let’s let’s discuss whether or not the Kings have their hands in too many things in the kitchen. One more segment with Chris Watkins when we return. Now down south on sports. By the way, yeah, there was a rebrand. Okay. They play in Mary’sville now. They are the Yuba Sutter High Wheelers. They are not the YOLO High Wheelers. Okay. Who will you be there on behalf of? Like it’s that’s funny. Well, that’s what I was wondering. Like what gear are you showing up? It’s the same owner. That’s right. I do remember that same owner owns the High Wheelers and the Ballers, but it is a High Wheelers home game. Gotcha. So, yeah, I’m not going to Oakland. I’m going to be out in Mary’sville. But are you going to wear their like jersey and stuff when you go out on the field? Your former implorers jersey. I’m not going to wear I’m not going to wear it when I throw the pitch. This isn’t like the A’s where they give you like a shirt to walk out on. That’s what I was thinking. Yeah, they probably not. You’re probably just wearing whatever you show up in. I might have to wear the ballers jersey. What are they gonna start batting form? I mean, it’s just interesting because you used to like you were a part of, you know, the organization and so like you were very bu you know, like the the in-house entertainment like is is in a way like a face of the game, you know, like I don’t know. I don’t think it’s the worst thing. Like I think you’re I think you’re I think I think it’s a fair ball. I think that’s a fair ball. Exactly. You don’t want you to wear it like give you the swag. So, did the ballers invite you or did the That’s what I’m wondering. Well, that’s where the same ownership comes in the owner. So, they’re both this guy when he gets invited? Yeah, it’s from the owner. It’s from the top. It’s from the owner of both teams. He owns both both franchises. Got it. Yeah. It’s the owner. So, you know, I feel like if you wear the Ballers jersey, be prepared to possibly get booed. Sure. Yeah. Because you said it’s a rivalry, right? It is a rivalry. It’s Battle of I80. Part two. Bring it on. Yeah, I think you should do it. I think you should be a heal. Still 80. No, I think you have to get on the battle. I think you got to get on 99 at some point. That just I’m not sure. Doesn’t roll the same way. So, I’ll let you know how cuz here’s the thing. I have two different ways I throw. Okay. Yeah, I heard you saying you’re thinking about winding up. So, I have a quick I got the quick trigger, right? And then I have the fullon the wind up the outfield. I’m trying Oh, like you’re Okay. There’s no thought of like a real pitcher one. I’m not doing a pitcher. You probably shouldn’t. I mean, you’re a baseball player. So, question is, are you filming this? Like, are okay? Cuz if you are, then you can get away with doing the laughably bad first pitch and it’ll be funny on social media. I’m not I’m not trying to do that. There’s no way he can do that as a former base. No, you can’t do that. Take yourself too seriously. What the only thing I’m If I only say that because if I ever got a chance to throw out a first pitch, I would do like the Bill Murray chuck it over the ground. But you’re not a former like Allan at like there’s a sort of like oh this guy used to be like a baseball like impress like Colin Kaepernick. Hey, you’re going to throw out the first pitch like throw a 90 mph heater. And so it’s like Allan you used to play baseball like show me you used to play baseball please. Right. Well, I’m not I’m worried about trying to put too much heat on it. That’s Yeah, because you don’t want it to And I and I short I’m worried about shorting it. Get it there. So So I’m possibly gonna air mail it, but I’d rather a air mail it and a catch than not get it there. Nobody wants to take 5 miles an hour off and get get a strike cuz you do I don’t think you necessarily need to throw a strike, but it’s got to look good. Yeah. Yeah. It’ll be It’ll be there. It’ll be there. It’s got to be there. Made the throw thousands of times. Thousands. I was just at the How do you make that? But like that’s different. That’s a You know, that’s a different That’s That’s a different throw than hucking it from the outfield. That’s a different throw than Yeah. There’s no crow hop. Yeah. Like it’s, you know, that’s I’m built for it. All right. I hope you just don’t want to. Yeah. I can’t short hop. Yeah. I was going to say you just can’t dirt it. No, you can’t dirt it. That’s what I’m saying. I’m afraid I might go too high. You have to at least have to make like You have It can land in front of the like I don’t know. I mean, I’m not dirting it. I might air mail it. Okay. But I am not dirty. It’s like a half court shot. It’s like I’m not gonna Yeah. I’m not gonna miss that birdie. I’m gonna hit the top of the back. It’s a birdie putt. I will not be short. Okay. I might hammer it, but I’m not going to be short on that. Alan Styles. I will not be short. Okay. Oh, that’s Yeah, that’s interesting. Not bad. No, it is bad. It is bad. And you know what hasn’t been bad? Uh the Macau Bridges experience in New York. your segue strikes again. That is like a twostar as as he as he signs a 4year $150 million deal which comes out Chris to a annual salary of $37.5 million. There was talk about the uh there was talk about the Knicks maybe not giving him this extension, but it would have looked very bad because of all the picks that they gave up. So they essentially had to give him this extension, but they signed him to an extension which makes him able to be traded in January. Oh jeez. Before the trade deadline, there is also a reason for that. What’s a crazier deal now that we’re here? Okay. Macau Bridges at 37 a year. Okay. Or the the two years we have left of Zack Lavine at what? 47 than 49 because 40 four years I know he’s younger but what is he what is he 27? Yeah. Mal Bridges he ain’t 23 or 24. $50 million per year is kind of crazy for uh Michael Bridges is 28. Yeah. I think uh I think paying Zack Liy $50 million like that’s especially like with the new not to new CBA it but like you have to like that’s reserve that spot should be reserved for like your star player or your second and Zach’s just neither of those things and I he is on this team but you get what you pay for essentially is is is the problem with uh Zack Lavine in his current contract as a team building exercise is just if he’s getting paid $50 million you have to be getting such crazy value out of somebody else that isn’t that is getting paid way less than that. Yeah. It’s just really really tough. I think the one that you guys were talking the Desmond Bane I had no idea Desmond Bane was getting paid like that. Like that is to me a real problem. That is maybe worse to me than the uh than the Zack Lavine one just because like you said Lavine’s got two years. I think Desmond Bane just signed he just started. He’s at 36.7 coming up. Then it goes to 39.4 and 42.1 then 44.8 8 million, which is the crazy part cuz the Grizzlies did not get better by trading him. They just said, “You want to take the contract and give us five picks? Thank you. We’ll do it. We don’t even care for a worse team.” Yeah. Yeah. He’s just not like Desmond’s really I don’t I don’t know. I mean, yeah, that’s that’s a I mean, I guess they can maybe do it with uh with, you know, the since they drafted Fron and and Paulo, maybe that eases a little bit of the the financials on it, but that’s just I don’t know. To me, that’s equivalent at least to like paying Sabonis what he’s getting paid right now. Like, to me, it’s just it’s not not it’s not that the player isn’t productive, but it’s just I don’t know uh you know, if you’re just going to be able to ship that off. Out of all the moves that the Kings have made, and look, got to do media day. everything that we’re talking about is within the constraints of basketball. But out of all the the moves that the Kings have made from let’s say from the day that Steph Curry dropped whatever he dropped in game seven it was 50 from the from the 50 that Steph Curry dropped till now. Yeah. and the decisions that have been made from Mike Brown to the De’arren Fox decision to Monty McNair all this was deciding to add Zack Lavine cuz the the other thing let’s not forget and maybe it’s it sounds a little bit different now because the Warriors clearly aren’t as light years ahead as they like to think they just drafted Steph Curry and a couple Hall of Famers. They were interested in Zack Lavine too. Oh, they did. They Well, when it wasn’t it wasn’t Bob, besides Draymond, and it wasn’t Joe Lum. Let me tell you that. I’m on your team. But besides that, them being interested in Zack Lavine, so there was other interests out there. Do you think that adding Zack Lavine and his contract was the worst mistake the Kings have made out of everything since Steph dropped the 50? Um, nonfiring Mike Brown category, I would say. Yeah, I feel like yeah, to me firing Mike at the time it did just that just didn’t feel right to me. Um I guess yeah, the alternate would be uh and I guess this is maybe if I you guys probably have a better better memory of this. Um is was it a situation more of this is what you’re getting and you’re just kind of getting Zack Lavine on top like if if you want Zack Lavine like you can get him fairly easily or like I’m more saying was there anything else they were going to get? It’s not like it was, oh, you’d rather have Zack Lavine than Stefan Castle. You know, that’s Yeah, that’s that’s the unknown. That’s where maybe if you took something off the table because you had your eyes so keenly on Zack Lavine, then I would say Yeah. But um you’re going Mike. I feel Yeah, I feel like it’s Mike. If if um Yeah. Yeah. I just feel like it’s Mike. It’s probably Mike because that dominoes everything. Yeah. I mean, exactly. The worst one is probably the two seconds for Chris Darte. Am I right? Yeah, it’s probably Mike and then after Mike, you really step in it by putting by putting Scott Perry in a tough spot because you just have contracts that are at at best have a little bit of value. And I think to to close this out, Chris, is a DaVon trade up there? I’m really trying to think about this. Davon trade was pretty bad. That’s pretty bad. Pretty nonsensical. Yeah. Like what did they get out of that? It was Jaden McDaniel. No, nothing before the move. And then to dump Sasha’s contract that they didn’t have to do anything anyway. Yeah. The I’ll tell you what, this Sar Valentunist trade has potential to be that bad cuz I do I mean that’s essentially clearing up space to sign Shruder, right? That one’s weird though cuz I did they know that he wanted to go to Greece or not? That’s it doesn’t m I mean but he ended up staying, right? So it’s like but he only stayed cuz Denver was like you we’re not letting you leave. You’re forced to stay here. But you could say any anybody would have done that. You know that’s another thing why I have a feeling Scott Perry is kind of fixated on some of these moves like Kaminga and even a Westbrook. I think that he really wants to put his imprint on this team and there’s so much that he can’t do because of a Zack Lavine contract that he is just hyperfocused on what he because even adding or extending Keegan Murray or even Keon that’s not really moves that he they’re not his guys right they don’t represent him he’s getting he got Dennis Shruder in here and he’s trying to get hey I got Kaminga in here or hey I want Westbrook because that’s the type of player I like. Yeah. That’s why I feel like even if he could he could look at a four that way. A lot of people think Maxim’s going to play the four, but I think that’s why he’s hyperfocused on doing something because there’s not much else he can do. I try I want to just simply move Deamar or Zack, but I can’t do it. So, this is the only thing I’m going to be able to do. Yeah. No, I mean, he’s talked about it since day one, right? Is is establishing the culture. Establishing the identity is his only goal for this year really or his main goal for this year. And to me, that means establishing a locker room. like I I don’t really think they’re super concerned about winning 50 games or anything like that. I think they want to make sure that uh these next two years, even though they’re not going to be successful, that it’s not a train wreck that you can actually develop guys in this system and not have it be uh you know, I I you know, I I just can’t think of other examples, but like yeah, Nick Stkis and and Ben McLemore and those guys, you know, trying to develop with no real help around them. Like I think they just want to curate some sort of locker room that has veterans in there. Uh you know they highlight about how Dennis Schroeder works every single day. They love Demar his professionalism. Demanis Sabonis as we know 82 games. Like he’ll show up every single game double double. That’s the one thing we know about Russell Westbrook is that dude plays 120% every single possession. So, exactly to your point, like I think Scott is just saying I need guys who the guys that I am going to bring in are definitely going to lean a very certain way because uh I can’t fully change this thing. I can’t fully gut it. So, at least on the on the the outside, I’m going to try and make it look good. Uh you know, he’s landscaping right now, I guess. Chris Watkins, thanks so much for joining us. One more hour with you, taking you up to 200 pm. Thanks again to Chris Watkins for joining us as we look to make sense of all of the talk that has happened this week, but not much action. as the the show kind of rolls on by, it does start to feel like, and I know I fall for it every time, but now it’s starting to feel like this thing is going to calm down from the king’s perspective. Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you were going to say, “Oh, now it feels like a long week.” Like, no, it’s already felt like a No, a short long a fast long week. Fast long week. Yeah. But now it feels like this Kaminga stuff. I mean, there’s just nowhere else for it to go unless the the the Warriors are already cooked. I don’t see the Warriors weird. Weirdly, I wouldn’t call it leverage because I think that word is being overused just in general. But weirdly, I feel like the Warriors are just we’ve already screwed this up, so we might as well just kind of wait it out. Whereas if you’re the kings, you’re the ones that might have to do battle with some other. This is the most control you’ll have from the Kaminga situation where it’s only it’s you and the dealer, right? It’s you and the dealer. If you wait, you never know what could happen in a year. You never know who ends up leaving. You never know. So, if you want Kaminga, do what you need to do to go get him. As far as the Warriors are concerned, I think they’re just in a they’re just still praying. The the Warriors are in a safe not a safer spot, but they’re just banking on I just don’t think you’re going to Dennis Shrud to yourself. I just think you’re going to take the money. What a great sentence. I don’t think you’re going to Dennis Shruder to yourself. I just think you’re going to I just think you’re going to take the money and we’re going Here’s the thing about the qualifying offer versus the 22 and a half. Even if the second uh the second year is a team option, brother, we’re going to trade you. We are going to trade you as soon as we can. And you keep saying how so many people want you and have all this leverage. Then what are you afraid of? Take the short-term deal, then you can wield it. The whoever team is there declines it and you get a new deal. So, in that where the Warriors are at now, I could see them saying, “We might as we just don’t think you’re going to take the qualifying offer.” I mean, so much can go. We’re We’re sitting here talking about Keon Ellis and Dan Favlli who we’re about to play Viaddio saying, you know, and and obviously Keon undrafted guy, so it’s a little bit different, but you know, Keon, he might take that extension because he’s fighting for PL. He might be f fight fighting for playing time. This is his first chance at a at a life-changing contract. He might just take what the king I don’t and he and he also said I don’t know that a team is really going to blow the the Kings offer out of the water. He probably just signs the extension just to secure that bag. Secure the light the secure the bag. Light the beam. Right. That that’s what Dan is saying about Keon Ellis. If you’re Jonathan Kaminga, all it takes, and I don’t want to say it, but I’m going to say it. How many? I’m talking about Achilles now, right? I’m Look, Tyrese, Jason Tatum, Dame is older, but Dame, you really want to mess around with your money like this, man? I think what makes it different, though, is the Warriors are only offering apparently what, 21.6 million in guarantees. No, I hear I hear that. And the Kings would be offering 63, which is not the the Suns offer obviously, but he’s got no control over whether the Warriors say yes to it. All he has control over is that taking that chance. And that’s a I I think we might be downplaying how much of a chance that is. Okay, cool. 14 mil. He’s leaving 14 mil on the table for team control. Maybe that’s worth it to him. I don’t know. Is it worth it when you know the Warriors are going to try to trade? You’re not going to have to be there for for that much longer either way. Yeah, but you know how this works, man. It it they say two months is going to be a real uncomfortable two months. Two where he might just get stashed near the bottom of the bench or get played 10 minutes a game and potentially have to face that fine. Steve Kerr again if he’s willing to do that for $14 million which I think a lot of us would but the qualifying offer gives him like in exchange for $14 million you’re taking control right is control of the situation worth sacrificing close to I shouldn’t say it’s what 13 point something million dollars it’s not and and as far as a team option is concerned earned. Either he gets traded and that team accepts the option at 21 and then he’s going to be a free free agent or they decline it and extend him which is obviously what he would want or the Warriors somehow are stuck with him again. Either way, he’s getting a a $20 million from someone next season regardless unless he takes the qualifying offer. unless he takes a qualifying offer, which is tough because I think and he can make more, sure, but he can make less, but he also wants to start and have an opportunity to earn more money on a future contract. And if you take the 21 million for this year that the Warriors are offering, then you relinquish control in a way. They could send you to to Miami. They could send you to I’m just saying man I just sometimes I feel as if we’re blowing off the the money on the table or kind of on the table for Kaminga. That’s all the the other the other part of this and Chris is still in here. He’s he’s working on doing something. But so Chris, hop in here if if you have thoughts with Micah Parsons and the C and the Cowboys with Michael Parsons requesting a trade and the idea of a hold out in football. What if Kaminga took the qualifying offer and basically said I’m I’m just not going to play. How does that work? Could he do that? I mean, you can’t hold out. What what would be the under what would be the repercussions? I mean I think or just being a bad teammate, I guess. No, there’s there’s CBA stuff where he would get fined. Yeah, I think we’ve seen again like I brought up earlier with the James Harden and the in the Ben Simmons situation like it does reach a point where you start getting fined. think it does have to be issued by the team. Uh or the team has to ch like you can kind like in the NFL you can rack it up but whether the team decides to actually charge you for those fines is a is a different thing which I also think the NFL just got rid of that like I think you have to pay the like they got rid of the team can wave the fine thing. Interesting because I know that I think that’s what they were doing with Trent Williams or or with uh I think yeah they did it with Trent Williams last year when he was holding out forever. they just kind of deferred his uh his fines. But um yeah, from from and this is literally just more so going because I think this is more comparable to the Ben Simmons situation where uh you know, obviously Harden’s like more of the star of the team and uh Ben at that point was you know maybe fourth fiddle, third fiddle I guess at best. Um it feels like he the best he can do is just make it really really awkward. Wear the sweatpants to the workout with his phone in his pocket. Like I I think he just yeah just make it incredibly awkward. And again like I think the leverage that Kaminga still does have and again he’s going to have to sacrifice some of his reputation but the Warriors again need to win this se like they cannot afford to just throw seasons away and wasting a training camp on a guy who is either going to be traded at the trade deadline or is already just disinterested even if he is going to stay there long term. It’s just not the vibe or the right energy that they need, especially considering we know uh where what previous training camps and bad energy has done for that team in the past. Um it feels like they should try and put that behind them as much as possible. And that’s again where I just don’t see where the Warriors want that those problems. Like at the end of the day, if you force the Warriors to live in this world that they are saying that they’re willing to to have as a nuclear option, then they got to be willing to live with the ramifications. And those ramifications could be, and I think it is this serious, like you could ruin the rest of Steph Curry’s career trying to win this Jonathan Kaminga argument for some stupid reason or at the very least this group, right? Because we’ve we’ve been saying like they’ve decided in 2027 they could get rid of everyone, right? No Steph, no Draymond, no Jimmy Butler, no Steve Kerr. Just everyone get the bleep out of here. We’re going to try something different or, you know, bring back Steph, go after Giannis. You know, we’ll try and run it back one more time, I guess. But I guess even if they’re trying that strategy, this might be your last best chance to win around Steph Curry, which again, all of this hinges on, do you think a 38-year-old Steph Curry can be the best player on a championship team, which most people would say no, but depends on who else is around. It’s the Warriors best chance left to try and get a ring for the rest of eternity, which might already be cooked, right? 916 339140 if you want to be a part of the conversation. Thank you for hopping back in. I mean, sorry. Thank you for letting me work here still. Dan Favlli says Keon may not be willing to gamble with free agency, and that is great news for Kings fans. We had Dan on yesterday of Bleacher Report, and this is what he had to say. Keon Ellis has been made untouchable in Kaminga situations, but dot dot dot Keon Ellis could be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season because the Kings picked up his option when a lot of Kings fans wanted them to decline it. They wanted as much quote unquote uh financial flexibility as possible. Now, let’s have this same conversation with Keon Ellis, who if the Kings, they can offer him an extension, but he could still say, “Well, I want to see what’s out there.” Do you think the Kings made the right move to keep that short-term financial flexibility? Or do you think that there’s a good chance they lose Keon Ellis if his agent says, “Well, thank you.” Unless they overpay early, hey, we’re going to hit free agency and see what happens. Yeah, that’s interesting. So I don’t know if they made the right decision because if they’re done and like the and they made this decision to help acquire basically Dennis Shruder at this point when you look at how they traded Valenunis and kept Ellis’s number low then no it probably wasn’t the right decision. At the same time we’ve seen how some things can come back and bite you if you pay these players early looking at Indie with Andrew Nemhard and how difficult it made it to keep Miles Turner this summer even though they certainly could have. I think if you offer Ellis an extension based off the money that he’s only seen now at the NBA level, he would take it. Like the max they can give him, I don’t actually think that he would get much more on the open market next summer, of course, only takes one team. But you’re rolling the dice in a big way if you’re him, especially because as of right now, you’re in a rotation that has a bunch of other guards, and that’s not someone who you’re going to want to see scale up to the three or the four that often. And we’ve seen his usage on the Kings be inconsistent. That could end up hurting his value. So, I actually don’t if they want him, I guess I think that they can keep him and it won’t be, oh, Team X came in, we let him hit free agency and they offered him so much more. I would be fairly surprised at this point. Um, it maybe as part of a trade if they identify someone other than Kaminga, I think they’re smart to keep Ellis out of those talks. Personally, um, maybe if they’re going after another type of higherend target, sure, he’s not that type of untouchable player, but I would think that if the Kings want to keep him, um, that he’s going to end up staying past this season. Going back to that decision, that was Dan Favlli of Bleacher Report. Going back to that decision to pick up Keon’s option and just the uproar. I’ll never forget because I was at a Rivercats game and it was a it was a Sunday and whatever the time period was. I’m I’m looking at my phone kind of in between innings when I don’t have a promo or something and it’s just I knew when it happened because just all over the timeline. You know, I’ve been happy about Scott Perry and his decisions, but this is the first thing that has made me scratch my head. This is the first mistake he’s made. This is the first this. I can’t believe he did that. Again, I don’t like I know it’s been a week since my Keon Ellis stuff and I’m not trying to get it started again here a week later on a beautiful, beautiful Friday, but I just think that there are people out there maybe a little too worried the same thing they did with Malik Monk. So, and now and Malik had more Malik had more hype to him than Keon, I’d say. And there was a real thought that man teams are going to come in and we’re going to have to fight off the Orlando Magic and the Detroit Pistons and and you didn’t have to do that. Some of that was Malik picking Sacramento. Some of that was there weren’t as many offers. So, we’re doing the same thing here with Keon. How could he do this? Keon is going to be the And and look, Dan is this is just Dan’s opinion. How could they do this? How could they let him slip away? He’s going to be the number one person on the market. and you know Dan who obviously is a bit plugged in and and others and just the decision in general hey you look at Keon’s market yeah there might be somebody it’s a calculated risk do I think the risk is worth it for what the Kings are right now probably not but I’m not the GM and apparently the feeling is that Keon will probably resign and might not even hit unrestricted free agency I thought a really really good note that Dan had is yes, Mike Brown is gone even though we talked about Mike Brown, but the battles that Keon has had just for playing time, right? And I think in that same conversation with Dan, he said, “What if Nick Clifford is the truth?” What if Nick Clifford is is kind of stepping on I We looked it up yesterday, Kyle. Keon was at what, 24 minutes a game, right? So, let’s say he sits there. I don’t know what what if somebody else figures it out and they’re work they’re all working together and Keon gets an extension offer. Is Keon really gonna mess around and see if somebody else is going to give him 1 2 million more a year or is he just going to say I made it. I was undrafted. I made it from the G- League. Started from the bottom now we here. Give me my 14 a year and light that dang beam. Yeah, I guess it’s under practical circumstances. Yes, you would be correct. And then we get into the reality where it’s like all of these teams are tampering and talking to agents and like before you ever hit free for agency, you kind of know what your market is going to be, right? Which is why Malik signed as early as he did. Yeah. Because Orlando really wanted to give KCP $70 million. Take it here. Take it and go brick some shots. Go now. And then a year later really wanted to then trade KCP and four firsts for Desmond Bane and his gigantic contract. Yeah. which you know, good luck with that, Orlando. But I will but they’re going to trade for Sabonis like Allan said and everything’s going to be fine. No. Okay. You got anything else? Yeah. Yeah. No, the actual point is like my Yeah. The actual point is Keon Ellis can Sorry, Chris is laughing at my joke. That’s funny. Anyways, Keon Ellis is actually unrestricted free agency happens before actual unrestricted free agency. So, in theory, if that deal doesn’t come up like he thought it might, the king’s offer would still, I guess, be on the table, unless the Kings come back and say, “Well, now nobody’s offering you 14 million a year, so now we’re only going to offer you 12.” I don’t think that would happen. That’s kind of the that’s kind of the the Josh Giddy thing, I guess. But then that would be contingent upon the Kings offering him essentially a deal he couldn’t refuse earlier in the season. And we have no idea if the Kings are going to even present that offer to Keon, right? If if the best team, let’s say it’s the Pelicans, if the best team is offering him 14 million a year in free agency, but the Kings were already offering him 18 a year, then in theory, the 18 a year is what the Kings were comfortable paying him, and so they’ll just keep paying him at that $18 million number. I guess I would I guess in that sense, I’d be surprised if Keon signs before I say unrestricted for free for agency, but they tamper. So like let’s just say after the season and the the same idea and going back to Malik Muk, oh he wanted to give the Kings all this flexibility, so he got out the way. He looked at that market and he said, I think I’m going to stay in Sacramento. That two things can be true with Keon. different situation based on and and different situation based on how he has gotten to this point, but same as in hey we’ve kind of seen the other side and and wondering if I’m going to make it in the league, things like that. The other part is what I was discussing with Kaminga, this injury stuff, man. And if you’re Keon, you they offer you an extension at some point during this season. I think if you’re I think if you’re an undrafted, it’s completely different if you’re Kaminga and somebody told you you’re going to be the best in in in the league one day. But if you’re Keon and you get that extension offer and what we’re in, let’s call it December or January again, it’s a gamble. It it’s a you’re you’re gambling every time you step on that court. And at some point, you got to think, is the juice worth the squeeze? And that’s on his agent. If the agent says, “Look, the Kings are coming in at 14. I think you could get 20.” Now, I’m not saying that he can, and Dan Favlli doesn’t think so either, but I think you could get 20. Waiting for 20 might be worth it. Waiting for 16, I’m not trying to pocket watch, but not I’m going just take it now. Sure. I’m going to leave the table hot. And the other part of it is, right, how is he going to get to that money? either someone would have been willing to pay him that this summer, which I don’t think would have happened, or someone he’s going to earn his way to a larger contract. And you talked about the 24 minutes a game thing. remember that while he was in the Mike Brown doghouse for a little bit of that time, like a good chunk of that came on a team that had De’Aran Fox and on a team built around Zack Lavine, Demar D Rozan, and Malik Monk not playing point guard. Malik Monk’s now back to playing the same position as Keon Ellis. Yeah, they brought in two more guys in Dennis. They brought in Hold on. They brought in Dennis Shruder. Yep. To take Malik’s spot, apparently. Now they brought in Meek Clifford. Yep. And they’re hunting Russell Westbrook. And guess who’s going to be healthy and fighting for a roster spot? Devin Carter. Deon Carter. Now, so again, he might get there’s no path for him to start on this team right now because Zack Lavine is on it, but yeah, he might get not buried down the depth chart, but might have a hard time finding that 24 minutes a game. Yeah, he’s going to get and and uh look, they did say the exec that talked to Keith Smith did say Keon what he does, he’s the only guard that is able to do that does what he does on this team. I think Nate Clifford is going to be very fascinating to watch in that regard. I I think Keon’s gonna get his minutes, but the larger the the larger conversation of Ke Oh my goodness, the the Kings are they’re going to lose him in free agency. That that lar larger conversation, it’s always possible, but the Kings went into this feeling pretty good about it. And getting back to, we were talking about my my first pitch, but getting back to the Kings maybe trying to do too much and having their hands in a bunch of different things. Keegan’s got to be ahead of Keon as far as locking something down. But a after that, so you got Westbrook or Kaminga. Kaminga and Westbrook and whatever. I guess it’s Kaminga first. Kaminga or Kaminga and or Westbrook. Yes. Then after that is Keegan. And then after that is Keon. I don’t think all of this, some of it has to get figured out before training camp. Some of it won’t. Like I don’t know that Keon will get an offer before training camp. No, I just there’s no there’s just no time. I think Keegan might. Keegan should I agree, but I the only reason I say might is if I’m reading the tea leaves right now, and I know Brett Seagull said earlier like a week and a half might be the timeline where we learn some things. If I’m reading the tea leaves, I’m like 75% sure this Kaminga thing is going to go like all the way to September 30th. Yeah. Right. He’s just gonna his leverage is to drag this thing out as long as he can to see if the Warriors are going to blink. Even if he’s going to blink in the end and take the two-year deal, his leverage is to just drag it out to September 30th. So, that might be tough for Keegan because this Kaminga thing might not get resolved until literally 24 hours before the Kings report to training camp. And that’s why, and we have some clips that we’ll play from from Brett Seagull on the other side, but that’s why I kept asking Brett, do you think the Kings are done? Because it feels as if every time the King the Kings like to act and some Warrior fans are trying to spin the block because and to be fair, hey, first you said first you said uh Daario, Devin, and a couple seconds. Then you said Dario, Devin, and a protective first. Now, now it’s gone up to Malik. Look, man, they’re not wrong right now. The Warriors are in a position where they’d have to give something else up in Buddy Heer or Moses Moody. The offers have gotten better, slightly better, right? They haven’t the Kings haven’t jumped from their initial deal to Malik and Ke, they haven’t done that, right? But if they say like here’s Moses Moody, they can be like here’s Devin Carter, right? You can make it work. So I I don’t know that every time we think the the Kings are, you know, and Kings fans are talking all big and that’s fine. The Warrior fans are doing the same thing. Oh, well, we just going to leave the table. You keep coming back. And it’s very funny because we were just in Vegas. There’s always somebody at the roulette table. I’m not saying that this person has never been me, but there’s always somebody at the roulette table. They come in, they lose, and they’re just ticked off. And you know what they say? They say, “All right, thank you.” And then the, you know, the dealer says, “Okay, thank you.” Then you look over and you see them at the ATM taking out more money. And then they come back to the roulette table. That’s the Kings right now. Now, they haven’t spent any money, don’t get me wrong, but they keep saying goodbye to the dealer, but then showing back up at the roulette table, hoping that their number will hit. I know that was extremely detailed. I don’t know why it would be so detailed because it’s never happened to me. On the other side, let’s keep the conversation going. We have some notes from Brett Seagull, who joined us earlier in the show, and Jason Tatum took off the boot. People are saying he needs to put it back on. Watch the show on youtube.com/sacktownports140 or listen on the Sacktown Sports app. Micah Parsons wants out. Of course, you had to get one text in there from someone. How about San Francisco? It just feels like I know for a while it felt like the the Niners just had unlimited money, but I don’t think we’re there anymore. That would be nasty, though. Given how many wide receivers they had to let go, I think we’re probably there at that point. Yeah. And you got you got what? Terrell Owens. Is his son still out there trying to run routes? Tariq Owens. I don’t think so. He was he was going to run some reps. I saw the Cardinals signed uh Andy Isabella or I’m sorry the 49ers signed former Cardinal Andy Isabella. It’s rough. It’s not I’m telling you invincible Vince Papali. Go look it up. Disney movie with the Eagles. That’s going to be the Niners looking for a wide receiver. That’s literally going to be So that’s where Terrell Owen’s son was. He was in that movie. No, he wasn’t in that movie. No, I’m saying that’s what’s going to happen as the Niners are looking for a wide receiver and the Dallas Cowboys are looking for more drama and that’s what exactly what they got. Not paying Micah Parsons and now Michael Parsons saying, “I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys.” Getting back into what Brett Seagull had to say. If you missed it, you can go check it out on YouTube. It is up right now. We had him on at 11:00. And this is a question I asked Brett. I essentially just trying to figure out when an article like this comes out, does that mean that it’s pretty much over, right? Or at least this iteration of it is over. And this is what Brett had to say. When an article like this comes out and a lot of it is past tense, how often does a team maybe change their mind or the negotiations? I know they can start back up, but when something like this comes out and Amit gets this information, we had Slater and Shams with the information earlier. A lot of times, does that mean that something is is pretty much done or do you think Allan this could obviously anything could happen, but Allan this thing could turn back up in maybe a week and the Warriors possibly change their mind. But with information like this coming out, which is very past tense, this thing might be cooked. I feel like that in a week, week and a half, we’re going to have a lot more clarity on the situation of what road this is really going down because we’re still kind of at a crossroads of well, is he going to take the qualifying offer? Is he going to take another offer from the Warriors? Is signing trade completely off the table? So until that path is really chosen, it’s hard to necessarily say where Jonathan Kamingo will be playing to begin the 2526 season. But I I do expect maybe not a full resolution, but maybe a part resolution in the middle of August. Uh as far as teams engaging and news coming out, it’s all just leverage play at this point. It’s the team and the player both trying to create leverage over each other in a situation that’s not only turned toxic, but one in which neither side necessarily has full leverage over each other because the Warriors while they do have the majority of leverage like we’ve talked about complete leverage because Jonathan Kaminga can just accept his qualifying offer and that kind of dues both sides in a sense where the Warriors wouldn’t be able to trade him in a big deal at the trade deadline. it would be under his jurisdiction given that he gets a no trade clause and then from Kinda’s point of view you’re losing out on 30 $35 million that you could have taken to bet on yourself hope that money’s there next year and the biggest caveat is you’re going to hope that you don’t get injured because we’ve seen it countless times where guys accept a qualifying offer either have it down year or they get hurt and the one that comes to mind is narrow as Noel when he took his qualifying offer years ago and turned down I believe it was like 30 or $25 million right and he didn’t even make that kind of money for the rest of his career. That was Brett Seagull basically saying I think that was just him saying no it’s not it’s not done yet anybody can come back to the table unless we find out more or unless Kaminga straight up says I’m taking the qualifying offer or I’m taking this two-year deal any anything can change the Kings can say you know what we went back to the table just because AIC and others have have reported on this stuff obviously ly it is uh it is a fluid situation and I’m not even going to put I was going to say over under if it gets resolved by Monday’s show and I just think everybody would take the under because there’s just no reason to believe that this thing is is going to to stop soon enough unless the Warriors just say, “All right, we’re sick of it.” Frankie Cartiselli said this this morning. If no deal comes to fruition for Sacramento in their pursuit of Jonathan Kaminga, Scott Perry and the Kings for an office shouldn’t feel like they held back in these talks with Kaminga or Golden State. And I’d imagine they don’t think that way. Contract offer, signing trade offer, all of it. More than a fair negotiation process. I would agree with Frankie. Sometimes the situations don’t make sense. Sometimes the prices don’t make sense. I saw Matt George also say, “Would this deal already be done if the if the Kings were an Eastern Conference team, as we know that they wish they were an Eastern Conference team, but if the Kings were an Eastern Conference team, would this deal already be done? Is this about having to face John Kaminga four times a year?” I don’t know. I I really think this is more about the Warriors, you know, your parents say, “Choose your battles.” the Warriors choosing a battle that they’ve kind of already lost. This is You should have You should have put your foot down last year. You should have put your foot down two years ago. You saw this coming and you did absolutely nothing to fix it. Absolutely nothing to fix it. And now they’re suffering the consequences. And there’s nothing that anybody else can do to to save them in these in these conversations. But Kyle, I got some news. It’s not breaking, but it is for me cuz this is my guy. It’s not. I said, “Well, it who has a locker a locker in New York right now with the San Francisco Giants due to all of the roster changes that have come about within the last 24 hours.” There are two answers to that question. I don’t know which way you’re going. My guy, the man, the myth, the legend. It’s finally time. He’s been in Sacramento this whole time after showing a lot of flashes last season. Graham McCrae, welcome back to the Big Show. Graham McCrae, welcome back to the big show. Jung Hulie, figure it out, brother, because Grant McCrae is on the way. Figure it out or you’ll still be the center fielder because they paid you so much money. Figure it out. You five hitter otherwise. Oh, Jung Hu Lee right field Giants. Do it. Yeah. I I you know I have read a lot of people saying can is Janghi has the tools to be a center fielder obviously but some of the kind of communication issues that have happened and I’m not saying based based on literal communication. And it’s just, hey, are you guys even doing outfield speak? It’s just not happening. Is he is he the right person for center field? Let me tell you who’s not going to let that happen. Grandma McCra sees something in the outfield. That’s his. That’s all his. Okay. Unless he gets called off by Jung Hulie. Iron Iron sharpens iron here, man. I’m so I need Grant McCrae in this lineup. Then you get Drew Gilbert. Now, Drew Gilbert will probably be starting center field for Sacramento. Senor Segue. Oh my guys. Oh my guys. All right. Wrong button. That was like Senor Segway. No, they’re right above each other on the board. I messed those two up all the time. But yes, your guy Drew Gilbert, who had the greatest bat flip ever, uh, is going to be playing center field every day now. You You’re gonna get to see him five times a week, every other week. Well, it’s going to be funny because they mentioned Drew’s defense. I don’t know how long Grant and and still no clue where Luis Mtos is. I just don’t I don’t know. He’s on the bench somewhere. I just don’t know where. But if Grant McCrae comes back down, it’s always kind of a a you know what contest where the coach has to make the decision and if you were center field and now there’s a new center fielder, who gets moved to left or right? or you were a shortstop. Who gets moved to second? Who gets moved to third? I don’t know who if Drew and McCrae, they will be on the same team at some point, whether in the big leagues or in Triple A. I’ll have to do more research, but I’d like to think it’s Grant because Grant can fly. Grant can fly. The Giants take on the New York, they get a chance to avenge their sweep that I got to watch firsthand last weekend. and they get a chance to avenge that against the New York Mets. That is coming up today at 410. So Grant McCrae is back with the big club with everything that has happened. And Christian CS as well, a locker in New York. So we’ll see what happens there. We’ll give you some updates on on the A’s. I saw a joke to you Padres’s fans. I know Whitey’s about to join us that the Padres’s had to shut down the rest of their minor league season because they don’t have anyone to play. Yes, I So, there going to be tryyous for the Padres’s. Maybe maybe some uh some highw wheelelers and some Oakland ballers can help out the Padres’s minor league system. And so, there’s going to be tryyous there. And then there’s going to be tryyouts for wide receivers for the San Francisco 49ers. This is going to be an action-packed weekend. So, be on the lookout, people. be on the lookout for open tryyous at both the the El Paso Chihuahua and the San Francisco 49ers. Two equal clubs of importance. Brendan Nun Brendon Nunez is down there in San Diego. I guarantee you he might see some signs that say come on out. We need somebody. Just just come on out. We need We have no prospects left. Zero. But remember Allan, like that guy said earlier, just because the farm system is depleted, the good thing about farms is that if you treat them well, there will be a new harvest in the future. And I might have four kids by then. When we return, we close out the show. Whitey Gleon, Chris Watkins is coming back to close it out. Alan South on Sports. Why’ I go to the doctor? I’m well aware. That’s right. And Kyle Led Better behind the glass for us to close out the show. And there’s only one way to start this. Only one way to start this. Oh, Trey Lance has figured it out. Figured what out. I mean, the touch passes. He’s still got the VO. He’s got the size. All he needed was the confidence. And it is insane to me that the San Francisco 49ers let this type of potential waltz on out the building for a fourth round pick that nobody knew was coming to the Dallas Cowboys besides Jerry Jones. You’re right. Cuz what? They haven’t won a game since he left, right? The 49ers. They got the same amount of They got the same amount of rings. Oh, okay. The same amount of rings. Rock party, Trey Lance, same out of rings. What are we talking about? I think I saw our guy Grant Codes say uh that Shanahan is a uh uh what? A system coach. System coach and Har football coach. I liked that one a lot. He was in his last. Obviously, I’m having some fun because there’s two sides to this and I don’t know how much Whitey was already making fun of me for watching the Hall of Fame. I watched it too. Hey, by the way, I proudly did not watch it. We we’ll get to back to Trey Lance in a second, but at first I’m watching and we discussed Henden and and Tre Lance did hit us over by the way by three yards. That’s what Whitey was laughing at you about was doing prop talk. There was two things we talked about prop talk, but then I said, “Look, if he didn’t tear his ACL, Henden Hooker, let’s just see what he’s got.” The game starts, Kyle Allen starts the game, and I’m wondering, “What the heck? Where’s my guy? I’m trying to see Henden Hooker.” I wait till whatever it was, the third quarter, and it ends with just a bunch of Lions fans on my timeline. Yeah, for those who didn’t know this already, we have no backup quarterback. Like, it’s just a bad situation. Basically, they were saying everybody was roasting the Lions quarterback play. And my take on Henden Hooker maybe having having something left in the tank, that thing’s on E. Wow. That thing’s on E. Speaking of, you worked with Allen for a while. You know how it is. Sometimes he goes off and you’re like, I eventually he’s going to come back into the yard and I’m just going to That thing’s on E. I really like Well, I really liked him at Tennessee. Speaking of which, do you guys remember David Shaw used to coach Stanford? Apparently, he’s the passing game coordinator for the Lions. So, Henden Hooker, I have 12 new coaches. So, he turned down because wasn’t it a lifetime deal? So, he turned down the he didn’t leave when he was the hottest name. Yeah. He stayed, got fired, was doing some consulting work for a while, and now is the passing game coordinator for the Lions. And this is why Keon Ellis should not hit unrestricted free agencies, right? Exactly. Take the extension when it’s available. When you said that, do you remember the Iowa State coach was offered like $58 million to have Dan Campbell’s job and turned it down? No. No. Really? That’s the alltime bag fumble. That’s the one I think of. That’s the alltime bag fumble by him. Whitey Gleason, your thoughts on the MLB. This is very normal. Just your thoughts on the MLB trade deadline. Well, I just hate the stupid game they’re playing in the middle of a racetrack. That’s my thoughts. The Speedway Classic. Oh, that’s I like that. I don’t like it. I agree with Mike Cameron. I follow Mike Cameron on X. He said there’s a lot of baseball fields out there in the country. They couldn’t play this game in a baseball field. You got to mix it up. Why? And you’re not What are the dimensions also? Like is it is it funny there? They should have done funny. Like if you’re going to do it at a speed track, like have some, you know, make it some polo grounds or something. They don’t that I know of, but it’s just, you know, from what I saw, you’ve got the stands where people are sitting and then you’ve got huge spaces between that and the field because of the geometry of it all. So, baseball’s just so I I’m telling you, the people that run baseball don’t like baseball. Why don’t you just talk about Talk about Mason Miller? talk about him. Okay. He’s on your team now. He’s on the Padres’s. Yeah, that’s not your team. Yeah, that’s I root for the Padres’s. Yes. Uh, you know, it’s interesting. Um, a lot of people that are evaluating the trade deadline, a lot of them saying the A’s are among the winners. They are. I know a lot of A’s fans are really upset. You saw them. Did you see that on social media? Yeah. I was surprised how many A’s fans were upset. They thought that at 26 and more specifically the team control they thought that the rest of the A’s the starting pitching obviously and the hitting is going to be there would catch up sooner rather than later. I don’t see that. Right. And you can’t just create starting pitching, right? And they needed arms and they got three arms and they got prospect. I disagreed with that take. Camila Dval, it’s crazy. It almost feels like the Giants got a better hall for uh for Tyler Rogers than Camilo Dval. Here’s what do you think of this? This is my Allen Styles point of the day. The backend reliever is the 3 and D wing of Major League Baseball because everybody wants him. That’s right. There you go. That’s right. He gets it. He gets it. Five years later, Whitey gets it. Whitey gets it. His face lit up. He was like, “What? I wish I finally get it, Whitey. I knew I finally got you.” Yeah. I I I knew you’d come around. Wow. That That’s left me a bit speechless here. That is outstanding work by you, Whitey. Thank you. When’d you think of that? Yesterday. Hey, see I like it. Now we got to do it with different people. Next is actual specifically different players of different sports. Yeah. Why Mason Miller is the Keon Ellis of Brock parties. There you go. Well, no, I don’t throw on the Brock Parties at the end. I don’t do that. Just a twoperson thing. Just normally just normally twoperson, but yeah, the the Trey Lancing obviously I’m having some fun with. It is funny how and we were there Whitey in the Bay while the Trey area and the biggest fumble was him sinking because that was just marketing gold. Trey area would have made so much money. Yep. And it still gets talked about even though he didn’t ever really do anything. But it is interesting and I was thinking about this from the Kings perspective as well because the Kings have a couple decisions that have been polarizing. But it’s interesting how to this day and I always wonder when it’s going to chill out and I think Harbaugh added a little bit of extra spice to it. I mean Niner fans there it’s still the Bloods and the Crips when it comes to Tre Lance all these days. How much Harbaugh would enjoy it if he’s able to resurrect the career of the guy that the 49ers fumbled on. By the way, hopefully we could do this sometime when Chris is here. It would be so much fun if we just throw players names at you and you come up with their us and we don’t get to say you’re wrong and you just get to spin on cuz it’s just whatever is going on. Whatever is going on in my mind. You you saw the we Chris and I were talking earlier. You saw the the banger of an article from Sam Aik. What were your thoughts on the on the Warriors turning down uh Malik Monk and a protected first? Well, people are going to say that you’re like Alan Styles. You love the Warriors. But I I could see why they passed. I mean, just just forget about the pieces involved. The Kings made an offer. Anthony Slater said they kind of floated one that initial offer, you know, Charich and uh Devin Carter in two seconds. And the Warrior’s like, “No, we don’t want any part of that.” So, the Kings have come back with a better offer. Right. Right. So now if you’re the Warriors and you got till what? October 1st before Kaming has to make his decision. Even if you like this, aren’t you going to go, “Well, maybe they got something better.” Yeah. So even if you like it, aren’t you going to go, “No, we need, you know, an unprotected pick.” Isn’t that just the smart way to approach it? That’s what we kept saying, you know, everybody No one else is going to swoop in and get them. No, no. They’re the only, like I said, they’re the they’re just it’s just them and the dealer. That’s what it is. And Chris, like we were mentioning from the Kings fans perspective. Yeah. And that’s what it is. And And the Kings just going to walk away, but they keep coming back. Yeah. They keep coming back to the table. That’s the problem. More than I don’t know that they’re trying to lead on, but to the the idea of, oh, we’re just checking in and, you know, it’s a it’s a good bargain. No, it seems like they’re trying to lock something up before other teams get involved at the end of this season or even in the season if he if he takes whether he takes a qualifying offer or the two-year feels like they’re trying to sneak in and grab something. But I don’t think this is as simple as oh they’re just checking in. It’s it’s super chill. They want him. No, they definitely want him 100%. Like he would be big to their to their timeline. Like I think you laid it out earlier all the young players that they would have uh in terms of promise that you could convince yourself of. Like I think it it is uh a little bit of of shuffling the deck in terms of getting especially if you’re going to sign Russell Westbrook on top of this like you don’t want to have uh that many guys over 30 and not really feel like you’re building towards something. At least you have a young bullpin of guys that you feel like you know if we hit on one or two of these neat Clifford Kaminga Keegan Keon Devin Cart any of these guys hit um it’s just so big for him. But I I just I don’t know. Yeah, I think I I the Warriors part of this is just so interesting to me and I I just can’t figure out um I hear what you guys are saying. I just really don’t think they want Kaminga on the team and I think if he’s on the TE I I don’t know if more are more suitors guaranteed to come. Like they want the salary slot.
