🚨SHOCKING Jonathan Kuminga Update via Warriors Insider | Golden State Warriors News
[Music] A new week means a new Jonathan Kaminga update here as we get further and further into the dog days of the 2025 NBA offseason. Today’s update could shock a few of you and there’s one man to blame and he’s he’s he’s sitting right there. We’ll talk about it all in just a second, but what some of you may like this news and some of you may not like this news that we’re going to talk about on today’s show. So, I decided to do this before we begin. If you want Jonathan the Kaminga back on the Golden State Warriors in 2526, go down below and hit that thumbs up icon. Like today’s video. I see a lot of you guys in the comment section. A lot of Kaminga fans that watch the channel. So, like the video if you want it back on the Warriors, but if not, comment why down below. Comment why you don’t want Kaminga back on the Dubs roster in 2526 and let me know. All right, let’s get it started here. So, the big news, the shocking update is that it looks like Jonathan Kaminga is all but confirmed staying in the Bay Area, will be a part of the Golden State Warriors roster next season and potentially beyond, but who knows how far beyond. Tim Kakami of the San Francisco Standard did say that the Warriors are cutting off all sign and trade talks, and that means they’re bringing him back at this point as he is a restricted free agent. The word I got when I checked in with the Warriors source on Sunday, Kaminga won’t be traded this summer. He’ll be back on the Warriors roster to start the season, and it’ll either come when he signs the Warriors offer or accepts the $7.9 million one-year qualifying offer. Now, of course, we can all read some or most of this as the Warriors positioning in lie of making a final push for a more favorable sign and trade agreement. The Warriors have definitely had some discussions with other teams around Kaminga and once you start having discussions, you can always finish one of them no matter how your public stance appears to be at the time. But several sources have indicated that the Warriors have been un enthusiastic unenthusiastic about sign the general idea of a Kaminga sign and trade from the outset. The broad context is that Joe Leica remains a fan of Kaminga and is determined to either keep the 22-year-old on the roster or get real value in return. And he’s willing to wait it out. The Warriors have not yet gotten real value in return for Jonathan Kaminga. Once again, this is an absolute disaster, an absolute disaster class in the Warriors front office from Kaminga and his representation and really everybody that’s involved in this whole scenario. Both sides know that I guess I guess not all of both sides know. Joe Leov is probably the only one who’s, you know, in the dark about the best course of action being a separation between these two sides, Kaminga and Golden State. They just don’t belong together anymore. So, when you look at this whole situation, why are we still beating around the bush? Why are we dragging this out longer than it has to take? If Kaminga doesn’t want to be a member of the Golden State Warriors and the Warriors want him to come back and play a role player role, why are they continuing to decline role player offers back in exchange for JK? We know they want a first round pick uh in return in any signing trade and an unprotected first round pick is yet to be offered to Golden State. But that’s not the only holdup in Golden State getting a deal done for Jonathan Kaminga. However, in case you missed it back last week when Sham Shirani reported all of these facts, Kaminga declined that four year that two-year $45 million offer that the Golden State Warriors did give out to him in his representation that has a team option in the second year. So, it’s only a one-year guaranteed contract of about 23 and a.5 mill 21.5 million. Now, the hold up between both sides here is the Warriors want Jonathan Kaminga to wave the inherent no trade clause that would come with this deal. The the qualifying offer wouldn’t even be on the table if a no trade clause really wasn’t or if there was no no trade clause involved in that Golden State deal. Kamingo wants full control of his future and he doesn’t want to be traded anywhere that’s disadvantageous for him. And honestly, he wants to be traded somewhere, but he wants to really only be traded to places that he wants. Him and his him and his agent Aaron Turner are focused on a side and trade partner and leaving Golden State. But the markets that there is out there for Kaminga is not very large. And that means that those offers aren’t going to be very large for Jonathan Kaminga. And now the Warriors are presumably cutting off all sign and trade talks with the teams they’ve been in discussions with. Now, Kaminga at this point has a chance to either accept the two-year contract that the Golden State Warriors are offering or sign the qualifying offer. But there is one meat-in-the-middle situation that we could talk about later on today’s show that might be the most likeliest. But at the end of the day, this is the culprit of this whole situation. Joe Leup, you do not know how to evaluate talent. You do not know what is best for this go Golden Golden State Warriors organization. You definitely do not know what is in the best interest of Wardell, Stephen Curry. That has to be the number one priority when you think about building this Warriors roster out and build and building the next two, three seasons of Warriors basketball out. Jonathan Kaminga does not contribute or does not mesh well with the best version of this Warriors team. And Joe Lacup just doesn’t seem to realize that. And I’m gonna just stop my rant right there. You guys have heard me talk about it at nauseium over the past few months. Uh it is what it is. And Joe Leup isn’t going to move past him being a fan of Kaminga. He’s not going to move past him being a fan of James Wiseman way back then. Look how all this stuff turns out. It is not in the Warriors best interest to be letting the owner uh dictate basketball decisions, but I guess that’s where we’re at at this point. Look, I know the chances are low, but I would still like to see a sign and trade happen for Golden State and Jonathan Kamega. It’s just the best course of action. You you you come into next season with a unit and a roster that you probably believe is going to be pretty similar to the one that gets played in the playoffs when that comes around versus bringing in Jonathan Kaminga and there being a ton of uncertainty. Will Steve Kerr play him versus won’t they they play him? Will they be able to find a trade partner at all? Or if he signs a qualifying offer, he’s just a sitting duck waiting to be an unrestricted free agent and leave for nothing next offseason. So, they’ve put themselves in an absolute hole. I would still like to see them make a sign a trade happen this off season just to get any semblance back of a of a return for Kinga because there’s a good chance that you might not get one if he signs that qualifying offer. As far as the offers that are out there right now though, I get it for Golden State’s point of view. like they’re pretty bad and Malik Monk at the protected first which apparently this the the Kings have been willing to offer up to the Warriors in exchange for Kaminga has been on the table for a little bit but the Warriors there’s a lot of hoops they have to jump through in order to get that done and they’re also not that keen on Malik Monk at all in the first place that protected first round pick. They also want that to be unprotected first round pick but that’s not the grand holdup. We’ll talk about what that really is in just a second. The Suns on the other hand, they’re the team that’s probably more most inclined to get Jonathan Kaminga as they have offered four years 90 million to him. The Kings only two three years 63 million I believe as a player option in that third year. But the Suns offer is far worse than the Sacramento Kings offer. Royce O’Neal, Nick Richards and some second round picks that is absolutely I I I would think about just bringing Kamar back at that point like like who who cares? Like that that is garbage set of assets in a Golden State trade. I get them not wanting to make that deal. So, where does that leave Golden State? Well, really only seems like the Kings are the team that has a chance to make a Kaminga deal happen at this point. They have a couple young players in the roster that they have yet to offer. Can Golden State wait them out and potentially getting a bigger return? We shall see. But Sam EMC of the Athletic, who’s been really tapped in throughout the situation from both Sacramento and Golden State side, said this on Twitter. It was too long. I had to make it into a double quote graphic here. A quick and belated follow-up on the Jonathan Kaminga reporting from Friday. Anyone saying that the first round pick protections are the only obstacle in a King’s Warriors sign a trade is wrong. As I’m told, Golden State really doesn’t want to move either Buddy Heield or Moses Moody, which would be required or else the Warriors would be hardcaped to the First Apron. They’d be able to make no more moves after getting this trade done for Monk. And yes, as Timokami reported, the Warriors are indeed signaling that they expect Kamega to be on the roster next season. That being said, nearly two months remain before his qualifying offer deadline on October 1st. Plenty of time for something to change here. So, as it stands today, Jonathan Kaminga will be a member of the Golden State Warriors for the 2526 season and who knows how long beyond. But with the two months still leading up before that qualifying offer deadline, the Warriors seem to have a little bit of leverage from my point of view. Kaminga should not want to sign the qualifying offer. You’re you’re kind of dooming yourself. Not only do you make way less money than you would make in the first year of Golden State’s presumptive offer that they’ve given to Kaminga, but there’s also a good chance that if you do that, you’re not going to play at all in Steve Kur rotation. You’ll be getting DMPS all year long next year. And that will make your free agency market for the following off seasonason and your unrestricted free agency much lower than it would be right now if those teams had the cap space at this point. You’re going to have a whole season of inconsistency and really not much production out there on the basketball court. So, he should not want to sign the qualifying offer and kind of put himself pegged in a corner like that. Now, with more money on the table for Kaminga, it makes sense for Golden State can just they could just wait. They could wait this whole thing out to where, you know, they’re at right right at the last couple days of September. And they’re like, “Okay, well, you know, Kaminga, we don’t really want you to accept the qualifying offer. Maybe we meet in the middle a little bit on this deal.” And or by that point, another team, the Kings, potentially. I would I would say that the Kings is the only team that has a real shot at making a deal worth it for Golden State. Maybe they up their offer by that point. Maybe they’re desperate and love Jonathan Kaminga enough, but based on the contract that they’re offering to him, I I doubt that they’re that in love with Kaminga to be able to mortgage away the pieces that they have been off the table at this point. Keon Ellis, Keegan Murray, it doesn’t look like they’ll be end up being offered for JK. So, in all likelihood, a Kings uh trade is dead. But you know me, man. I’m still holding out hope. Will the Kings increase their trade offer for Jonathan Kaminga? Yeah, let me know down in the comments section. Yes or no? What do you think? Will the Kings cave? They’re a pretty bad front office. Could Golden State wait them out and squeeze out some of their young talent from that roster? Let me know what you think yes or no in the comments section. Next, we’re going to kind of talk about what I just alluded to, the likeliest resolution between these two sides, Golden State and Jonathan Kima. That in just a moment, but first, get hooked up with this awesome deal at this link right here, jazzports.com/winforthe. It is the Warriors 2025 playoff shirt and it’s on a massive massive sale right now. Literally half off. It was 35 bucks. Now it’s $17.99. Get it at this link right here. chatports.com/win4b. This is still a productive and positive Warrior season. And I love collecting stuff like this. Nice Nike quality shirt as well. This link right here, chatports.com/win4b. That link will be in the comments section and description of today’s video to make it easy for you guys. Go down below and grab a Warriors 2025 playoff shirt today. All right. Now, the likeliest resolution for Jonathan Kaminga because honestly, last week I had thought it would be him kind of holding the Warriors hostage and not and and signing that qualifying offer, but Tim Kakami came out and said that there’s a way where it would probably work out best for both sides here heading into next season and beyond. Kakami saying the following. It’s probably not yet time for the grand compromise, right? We still have two months left until Kaminga can decide uh whether or not to accept that qualifying offer, but it will be time eventually. When it happens, it should likely involve the Warriors upping the guarantee in the second year of their offer. As of right now, there is no guarantee from zero to perhaps $14 million. So, the total guarantee would be above 30 million over two years. And by giving him a secondear guarantee, the Warriors help themselves out a little bit. They would wipe out Kaminga’s right to block a trade next season. So, with this one-year guaranteed deal that Kaminga would be on, as it stands today, a signed trade or a no trade clause would would come with that. But the Golden State Warriors won’t sign him to that deal unless Kaminga waves it, which he’s not going to do. So, now they have to meet in the middle, guarantee a little bit extra more money, and that’s where kind I feel like this thing ends up for Kaminga. Look, he is not worth the $25 million a year that he’s asking for in any deal, and it doesn’t really look like anybody’s offering that to him at this point. So, he’s going to come back to Golden State, it all seems. And hopefully like they can use him in some sort of way. Maybe he like he can just buy in to play a complimentary role for the first couple months of the season. Then he they end up trading him as his value has increased for Golden State. Like I’m kind of coping at this point, but this is where I feel like it ends up and and the Warriors have dug themselves too deep a hole to really get the return or the asking price they want for Jonathan Kamingo, whether that’s a trade or him actually resigning and agreeing to terms to come back to the dubs. So, that’s where I feel like it ends up. It’s unfortunate, but they’re going to end up in the middle somewhere, and Kaminga won’t have the opportunity to block a trade and uh into next season, and the Warriors will probably end up dealing him sometime before February, but it is it’s probably going to be very, very awkward in the leadup to that. We’ll keep you guys tapped in as that story unfolds as we get closer and closer to that deadline. Still two months away, so there’s still a lot left to talk about. Lock us in, hit that subscribe button for daily Warriors videos all offseason long and into the regular season as well. We’ll see you guys all in the next one. And as always, let’s go Dubs. [Music]

He doesn't see or think like a big picture player. He thinks of himself first and foremost. Not the needs of the team.

YES!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Malik Monk would have been a better fit fir the system all the way around
Funny how you value him in trade talks but not on the court
I'm good either way but I'm tired of this keep him trade him but make a Damn decision.
Nice keep. JK is a potential 20/12 piece. Showed it before he got hurt last year.
I like Kuminga. The more he plays the better he gets.
Thumb up
The Warriors have overvalued Kuminga compared to what the rest of the league thinks his value is.
What has JK not done to prove that he's above average in the NBA ,I'm a huge Steve Kerr fan, but the handling of JK has not been good .
He's a great asset. However, I don't want him because Kerr will not know how to use him and we will effectively be nullifying a scoring threat
The Kings are trying to get a younger roster. They are not trading Murray or Ellis for Kuminga, which makes no sense to them. Next summer, I see them trading DeRozen for younger talent.
If Kuminga is going to be a starter, why don’t the Kings offer a starter level player like Ellis or Murray??
It'd be nice if Lacob stopped trying to be the GM like Jerry Jones. He's the one who became infatuated with Wiseman and Kuminga before the draft, even though they were both considered raw, long-term projects who didn't particularly fit the Warriors' system.
The Warriors need to keep JK, they need the athleticism. The teams in the West are young and athletic. JK reminds me of SGA of OKC. I am sure that the LA Clippers hate now that they traded SGA. You have got to be patient with a 22 year old with that amount of potential.
Keep JK
Tyler, I have not seen your show in a while.
Lacob should fire Kerr and trade Curry while he has values. If he has one more hamstring injury, he will be worthless. Keep Kuminga and start to rebuild. The Warriors are not going to make playoff next year.
Keep him until getting better offers from other teams, king wants Kuminga but cheap about their offers back
JK is DELUSIONAL!!!
JL is too much of a control freak and doesn’t know when to back off. Look at how lousy the 49ers became years ago because of the front office interference, and the Cowboys.
He needs to let the experts he’s paying, make all of the decisions, and he should step away, and come and watch the games.
Joe made a owners decision. We want Jonathan Kuminga back, but we don’t want you back.
