This is Genuinely INSANE…

Could the Orlando Magic make a move for their former twotime all-star? Nicola Vousvich has been involved in trade rumors for what seems like a few years now as the Chicago Bulls continue to linger in mediocrity. But what is the path towards bringing Vu home? And more importantly here on Magic Digest, is this a move that Magic should even consider making? I’m going to give you my opinion on the whole situation. But first, what’s going on Magic fans? This is your host, Sam Rodriguez, covering all things Orlando Magic, from trade rumors to game breakdowns and everything in between. I cannot wait for October to get here so we can finally see this team on the floor and see what they’re capable of. It’s going to be such an exciting season. Uh, August is a bit of a slow season for the NBA, but as things start ramping up here on Magic Digest, you’re not going to want to miss a video. So, before we go any further, do me a favor, stop, hit that subscribe button. Let’s make sure we switch up these numbers before the season starts. And while you’re at it, go ahead and turn on your notifications. Now, let’s get into this latest trade rumor involving former big man Nola Vusvich, who is currently with the Chicago Bulls. This is obviously an old picture. Um, but if you recall, he was traded to the Bulls along with Al Farooq Amu. This was back in 2021, and I had not heard the name Al Farooq Amu in a minute. I actually just completely forgot this was the trade. So that was a fun little surprise today. Um but this was in exchange for Wendell Carter Jr. Auto Porter Jr. and two future firsts. Now interesting little side note. Um actually not really a side note at all. It’s actually pretty important and pretty relevant. Um those two future picks ended up becoming Jet Howard and France Vagner. So, I think it’s safe to say that the Magic uh absolutely uh won this trade. But getting back to the situation at hand, according to Magic Daily D daily, uh there might still be some interest in bringing back big man Nicole Vousvich. Now, this would be in a buyout situation. Um these rumors have been circulating since before Free Agency began, but then obviously The Magic made that massive trade for Desmond Bane. Um, so they’re not going to trade for Vousvich essentially is what I’m saying. Uh, he is currently on the last year of his contract making $21 million. So it’s a good contract to pick up because they’ll obviously get uh off the money uh at the end of the season. But uh the only way this works in a trade is with Jonathan Isaac. Now, I don’t know if you heard uh but Jonathan Isaac recently uh just bought a luxury home over there in Winter Park. So, it seems like he’s here to stay. And, uh this graphic up here was just me messing around with the trade generator trying to get the money to work. Um so, again, very unlikely situation. Uh the only option here is a buyout. Um and that would be where the uh the magic could offer Vu a minimum contract. But the thing about it is that the Bulls aren’t just going to buy Vu out without first trying to get some value for him. Uh, and as they should, right? Uh, there’s a great quote that was reported on by Shawn Duaney of Athlon Sports regarding the Bulls ownership. Uh, an anonymous NBA executive said, quote, “They’re not looking to buy Beach out. If there is one thing that has been consistent about Jerry Ryinddorf over 40 years, and he is the same way with the White Socks, it is that he does not pay players or coaches to not play or coach for him. Um, so again, they’re definitely going to try to get some value out of Buch, but there also just doesn’t seem to be a huge trade market for him right now. Uh Jake Fischer for Bleacher Report recently reported that we are more likely to see somebody pick him up off waiverss. Um we’ve been seeing that a fair amount this offse off season, but it’s kind of unfortunate considering the year that Avuch just had at uh 34 years old, no less. He averaged 18.5 points, 10 rebounds. Uh he shot 53% from the field and over 40% from three. And he definitely takes them. I think he averages about four threes a game. Uh and and so from that perspective, uh you know, we talk about the Orlando Magic a lot and the troubles that they had from three last season. They were dead last in three-point percentage. Obviously, um we know that Vu can shoot the three. So, I can see the interest is there, but at the same time, I do want to give, you know, the Magic Organization credit for kind of plugging in those holes with Desmond Bane, who shoots over 40% from three, with Tai Jones. Um, you know, can a Jace Richardson come in and be productive right away, who we also know can shoot three. So, um, I I don’t see like a ton of like uproar trying to get Vu back for that particular reason. Um, but in terms of him not having uh, you know, great trade value, I guess at uh, almost 35 years old now, a big man of his size who’s not really the most defensive minded could be a tough sell. Now, there was some noise about the Hornage trading for him, but their front office seems to be set on being patient in their rebuild. Um, much like the Orlando Magic were doing. Um, the Warriors I’ve seen proposed and that could be an interesting situation. and they’ve been linked to Al Horford since the beginning of free agency. But if you’ve been following along with their um Jonathan Kaminga debacle, then you know why they haven’t made any moves this off season. Um he could be really solid there. There uh are some other teams that will be monitoring uh the situation. Um NBA Central uh tweeted this out. According to Anthony Irwin, the Lakers will be monitoring the situation. um getting Vu to back up DeAndre Aton would be a huge move from them. Um especially considering how well Vu shoots from three. Um they also just recently claimed Marcus Smart off waivers. So um the Pistons were another option that I saw proposed by Yahoo Sports. I think this is the most interesting of them all to be honest. Um having Vu to back up Jaylen Duran is uh incredibly interesting. Um, and they could use another three-point shooter as well. I know they picked up Duncan Robinson after losing to Hardaway, but as we know in this league, it definitely doesn’t hurt to have another three-point shooter uh on your team. But I guess to kind of sum up my thoughts on his place on the Magic, I I don’t um think there’s any need to make any significant movement to acquire him. Um it’s also difficult as we’ve already seen. Um, but let’s just see how the season goes, right, with the new team, the new dynamic, the addition of those three-point shooters, like I mentioned, Desmond Bane, Taius Jones. Um, not to mention having a fully healthy team, uh, will obviously have more three-point production from everybody else as well. Uh, plus by getting Vu, you probably have to come up off one of your centers, right? You with VU, you would have Wendell, Goa, Mo, and Vu um on the team playing center. Uh, and in that situation, it would probably be uh Wendell that you would get rid of. Uh, you can see how much Wendell is making over the next uh few years. And we know that the Magic are going to be paying a lot of money uh to their players over the next few seasons um and flirting with those first and second aprons. Um, that is a whole other uh financial situation that I still have to unwrap. But again, I don’t really know how likely this is. And uh, you know, Mark Stein doesn’t seem to be too um, bought into the fact that there is no trade market for him, especially given his production as we um, just saw. And while Jake Fischer reports that there’s not a lot of interest uh in a VU trade, I think this is just very much a wait and see situation, right? Um Jake Fischer said this as well. Let’s see how the market shakes out. Let’s see how injuries play a role in this season. If it does end up being a buyout situation, Va is going to have a lot more control over where he goes. Uh he’s obviously going to want to go to a contender, which I believe the Magic uh will be. The Pistons will be up there as well. Um, but like let’s kind of see what teams have what to offer. Um, there’s a lot that goes into that. So, I think it’s an interesting situation for the Magic to keep their eye on. I think it’s a great story. Obviously, having him return and playing for his former team. Uh, but I don’t think there’s anything quite solid enough to go off here quite yet. It’s very much a wait andsee situation, which is exactly what the Magic are going to do. Um, and they’re very calculated. Uh, so we’ll keep our eyes on the situation as well over here on Magic Digest. And make sure that you are subscribed. Like I said, you’re not going to want uh to miss a moment of this upcoming season for the Orlando Magic. And that is my cue. I will see you guys next time.
