NBA Fantasy Basketball | Brooklyn Nets Season Preview 2025-26 | Michael Porter Jr & Co

Today we will be diving into the Brooklyn Nets. Uh they are expected to be tanking. They’ve made trades to be tanking. Uh will they tank your fantasy team? Flanders, your first NBA podcast. How you feeling, mate? I’m just keen to be here. I’m keen to get into some NBA content this year. Kick it off with you guys. And it’s going to be a big preseason and big season for us. Yeah, I’m I’m pretty excited. There’ll probably be a few um team previews released before this one. Um but look, excited to get to get into it with you. Um Brooklyn pretty uh shite team, I would say. Um yeah. Yeah, good good assessment. Um how do you how do you think they’re going to go this this year, man? Pretty They they’ve committed to the tank. They uh they’ve just move brought some pieces in like Cam Thomas doesn’t want to come back. Like there’s some bits and pieces going around there. There’s nothing of really big note here, but there is some items that late on in some drafts here, you could see some some good value pop up. Yeah, I was trying to have a think of like numbers how I thought that they’d finish and I’m sort of thinking between 18 and 20 wins. Like you’re right, they are committed to the tank. Like they’ve traded their good players uh try they haven’t even really went too hard at getting some really nice young assets. They’ve just got guys like like they’ve went in and got MPJ in. Um they’ve went in and brought in Terrence Man. I don’t know if either of those guys are conducive to winning basketball, which is probably a a concern, but they’re going to get some shots up, aren’t they? Yeah, exactly. Michael Porter Jr., he’s known for getting shots up. Doesn’t pass the rock. So, good news. They replace Cam Johnson with a worse version of Cam Johnson. So, yeah. Yeah. It’s uh Yeah. less efficient Cam Johnson. Yeah, Cam Cam Johnson from Teeu. Yeah. Um, in saying that, I know that you’ve been doing a real deep dive in our Patreon and um, by all mean guys, join our Patreon. We’ve been doing a lot of it in our free uh, in our free section. So, um, yeah, look, uh, look into the comments below and, you know, you can get some really good deep analysis all done by Flanders there. Um, I’m really interested to see how you see their starting five um, sit this year because I’ve got a bit of a spicy take at point guard. But what do you reckon? Uh, I reckon they’re just going to have to blood some youth there. Um, reckon you’re going to have probably Claxton and Clowny locking down the center. You’ll have Porter Jr. out there, small forward. Uh, I reckon Terrence Man is probably going to be the guy that they got to run starting shooting guard. Eigor Demon is probably my I reckon they’re just gonna have to blood some youth here and just give him minutes. They’re just gonna have to run it. Yeah. See, that’s how I was thinking and I was looking at like ESPN’s death charts and everything like that. But I genuinely think there’s a chance that they just start Terrence man to start the year. Like they’re still going to want to put some bums on seats. Um I had a look, he’s played a few games at point guard before. uh not really to good effect, but I also think like what’s their goal this year? Um it might just be to be a bit more exciting to get someone a bit interesting out there. Um you know, and then towards the end of the year, you start to see um yeah, you start to see the rookie in um what was it? Deon um come in. Deon to come in. Eagle. Um, but yeah, look, you’re not really looking at any of these guys unless you’re in a like a 20man comp that goes like 250 deep when it comes to like the the point guards and and stuff like that, are you? No. Who if you don’t have Demon starting, who comes into that shooting guard or do you do you move Porter Junior and play him shooting guard? Who who moves into that starting five then? I don’t know, Thomas. Like, do they just play him? Yeah, if he’s there. Yeah. Like I just think like they might just put Yeah. Yeah. I think they’ll get him back and Yeah. Like it’ll just be Cam Thomas at at shooting guard like to start the year they’ll play their most exciting team and that’s what it will be to start off with. Like Terrence man’s athletic uh he can run downhill can defend whereas we know that Cam Thomas and MPJ aren’t necessarily good defenders. Like he’ll pro I try not to on the whole team the whole time man. Um but like like Terrence man’s probably going to defend their best guard forward and then maybe just bring the ball up a bit like yeah that’s that’s all I was thinking. It’s it’s sort of their only option. They don’t really have a gu a point guard to run the offense effectively there. They just they really don’t they’ve got users but they don’t have handlers. That’s their that’s their biggest problem that they’re going to find. So, I’m um I’m a I’m a Grizzlies man and I was half thinking like Zier Williams, but then you just start to have a look and the only spots they kind of have manpower in is the same spot as him. So, yeah, he’s probably not going to get the run that I was kind of hoping. Um what are you thinking? Like 18 minutes a night from someone like that? Yeah, somewhere around there. He’ll come in as part of the second unit. He’ll probably get more more minutes than most of the others. He’s probably going to lead the second unit to be honest. like that’s going to be his thing there. But I reckon they’re just going to run that starting unit for as many minutes as they can at least be fun if they can’t be good. And yeah, it’s going to be their game plan for the year for me, mate. Yeah, and it does present some value uh when you start to look at at this. Um actually, I kind of forgot Keon Johnson was there. Maybe that maybe they give him a little bit of a run. Um but it does present some value. But look, as we started to plan these, um, we were going to do a segment called Top Guns, BS that you might take in the top three rounds. Um, but that’s null and void for this whole team. Like, um, they’re a better chance of getting a top three pick than they are of getting somebody in the top 50, I think. Yep. Yeah, 100% without a doubt. If I can’t see me taking anybody here, I see a lot of streaming options, but I don’t see Top Guns hanging around here. Yeah, and like that’s exciting. Um I play in a couple leagues that go 200 200 deep. Um and there is some guys that I that I am looking at. Um when it comes to mid-range value, mate, um what what do you think? And I’m probably thinking mid-range, you know, 50 to 90. Yeah, I think there could be a few guys. Michael Porter Jr., he’s going to get that time to ball out. There’s one guy I am probably a bit higher on than others. I’d be a bit high on Cam Thomas if he comes back on that qualifying offer. So, if he comes back on that qualifying offer, he fully intends to leave next year and then go out and get his get his bank. And if he’s out there playing for a wage, he is going to go out there and ball out and try send his value up. So, he could be somebody that sneaks up sneaks up forwards. Um, but yeah, it’s not someone I would be willing to start high. And if MPJ and Cam Thomas are getting above, you know what, 32 minutes a night, they are going to take a lot of shots. And like I’m excited by that, but your team kind of has to be built a certain way. Um like you’re going to your turnovers are going to be absolutely cooked. Um your field goal percentage are going to be cooked in um in points legs. I start to see MPJ and and Cam Thomas valued at that. They were 70. They were both between 75 and 80 on their 80ps on on ESPN. I sort of thought they might have been lower than that and it might have presented a bit of value. Uh we’re working on our own draft boards and yeah, whereas I did have BS like that around that point. I wonder if there’s not going to be as much value because I was kind of hoping that you might be able to get somebody like that at 90. Yeah, I think looking at us, most of us have got Porter in the 60s. Um, and most of us got Cam in about the 80s. So, they’re about where you’d want them to be. But, it’s just going to be so hard this year with this team to really rely on anybody leading that leading that offense. Um, and defensively, they’re just going to be liabilities. Steals are going to be pretty useless to them. Blocks are no better. And, yeah, they’re just going to be inefficient. High usage guys. Um before we get into late round sleepers, I’m actually super interested in your opinion of Nick Claxton. Um somebody I’ve been high on in the past, uh probably more high on a on a good team, maybe higher before some of these injuries. Uh he’s currently got an ADP of 114. If he’s on the board at 100, is he somebody that you look at if you faded center? Like what’s what’s your thoughts there? He does have his limitations, doesn’t he? Yeah, if he faded faded center like he put up 1.4 blocks a blocks last year, 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds. He shot, you know, pretty well, but you have to have punted free throws. He only shot at He shot better from the field than he did from the line. He shot at 51 from the line and 56 from the field. That’s That’s nuts. I I was bad on Giannis, but I was Claxton’s worse than that again. So if you are if you have gone down that line and you have punted free throws then yeah I think you could definitely go down that line of claxon that deep and you start to look at things like minus one rank um which is of course in our point system um most of us play headtohead so that’s probably our focus like that nine cat headto head um you know if you have taken Giannis in a round you can probably grab Nick Claxton a little bit earlier because you know could be the 60th or 70th best player player there and blocks are so hard to get that late in there. Um, we sort of expect him to play, you know, that 28 minutes a night. Um, Don Sharps deep in there. Um, which I think’s a really good player. But yeah, Nick Claxton is the best center on this team. He will get the minutes. Um, it’s just you’ve got to live within his limitations, don’t you? Yeah. Yeah, for sure. He is on looking at his minus one. He was 74th last year minus one. So yeah, if he’s still sitting on the board there sort of in the early hundreds, I’d be I could I could have a look there. He’s someone that’s serviceable and and if not, he probably also offers trade value. If you’re picking someone late in that point and someone who you think you can trade trade as well later on, there’s there’s tradability there with him. Yep. But perfect pairs probably with like start to think of guys that you get in the first and and second round. probably is a maybe a LeBron and a Giannis and those guys that you start to see that poor free throw percentage like there’s no point pairing say you get a Devin Booker or a Cade Cunningham or a or a Trey Young or somebody like that that makes basically makes Nick Young uh Nick Young makes Nick Young untouchable but makes Nick collaxed and extremely untouchable. Um, so yeah, you can’t touch him because he ruins the things that you’ve just made your team so good with with your first and second pick, right? Yep. Yeah, exactly. And like if you were to go that, you know, Giannis, that LeBron, and then, you know, and Evan Mobley in the same sort of area, like that’s that sort of build there, Nick Claxton would be another great guy to pair at the center position there, deep. But other than that, he’s probably about the only deep option I sort of see here that sort of gets me going. Other than that, I’m not really favorable on the rest of the team. Yeah. So, you don’t see anybody late round sleepers maybe, you know? I mean, most people play teams that goes 156 deep. Like, I’m looking at guys that I might be able to pick in my cuz I’m a sicko. Some of those comps that go into the 200s like I’m like Terrence man at the ADP of 333. Like that Noah Clowny. Um I haven’t seen a heap from him in the past, but he’s going to get that opportunity should they play Michael Porter Jr. at the small forward, but there is always the chance that they just play Zair at small forward. Michael Porter Jr. at the power forward and Noah Clowny plays 20 minutes a night, which isn’t enough from what I’ve seen and the stats that he’s provided in the past. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Uh I just I don’t see anybody here that’s really fitting depth. if Terrence man moves to the point guard and he can bring some assists up like Porter Junior is not going to be dishing that rock back to him. So I’ could be a bit a bit there and maybe even a bit of pick and roll action with Nick Claxton there if they’re trying to be fun. Bit of pick and roll action there or kick it out to MPJ. There is some assists on on board here. Um, and again, if you’re right on Dem not having that starting role at the start of the year, but picking it up sort of come through Christmas or even post Allstar, he he could definitely pick those, you know, those stats up later on in the year and pick up that last spot if you have an injury. Yeah, and I think that that’s probably a probably a really good thing to mention with Eagle. You can just keep an eye on him. Um, I like to think back to the year that I picked up Desmond Bane as a as a rookie and I was watching like I was probably the only guy. It was like the second uh um the second day of the season, right? And there was like those 13 games going and I was watching Desmond Bane and just the eye test told me that this guy was going to get buckets. I picked him up in a 200 man league. So that was 20 players deep. No, I No, I uh 10 players each and he basically won me the comp by just getting like pick I I basically won the comp on the second day of the league. Um just by getting a top 50 guy on waiverss like I don’t necessarily think Eagle’s going to start. But if he does and if he’s undrafted and you pick him up on the second day of the season or something like that, like it’s worth just streaming him in and and having a dig. if you see Z starts and he starts to get 30 minutes a night. He’s shown flashes in the past. Um but yeah, I’m basically drawing a line through anybody not name not starting on this team to be honest. It’s going to be a tough watch. Um there’s going to be a lot of L’s. Um they’re going to fire a coach. They’re going to trade some good players if they start to win games. It’s it’s going to be tough and um look, we can find some value in that. Um, but yeah, it’s really we don’t need to dive too much into it, do we, mate? No, not at all. Again, I not many guys I’d keep at the start, see what they do without the lineup throughout the lineup throughout the year. And yeah, there’s definitely those streaming guys if you did need to pick up somebody in late matchups come later part of the week for certain areas. They will have those options where they change that lineup because they don’t know what they’re doing at the moment over there. So, make the most of that, mate. Uh, it was unreal. um first podcast with you, mate. Um tomorrow we will be releasing the Chicago Bulls podcast. Um so pretty excited to get stuck into that and um yeah, you’ve listened to Ball Logic. Cheerio. Cheers.
