Houston Rockets To Play The The Thunder Opening Night Rockets Fan Reaction!!
Yo, what’s going on guys? This is Houston Sports Talk back in the video today and today Sham Sha has announced uh the NBA schedule for opening night. The Houston Rockets will play the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is honestly something I kind of was expecting um just cuz the fact that, you know, would have been, you know, I think the Rockets were probably one of the best Western Conference teams you could have put up against the Thunder for opening night. Um, you know, if if the Thunder were going to be in the first game of the of the, you know, the opening night and you’re going to have them at the early slate at probably 7:00 and then you’re going to have a West Coast game. Like, I’ve always looked at it this way. There’s not going to be an opening night where LeBron James is, you know, is not featured. And I didn’t really see the Lakers coming into OKC. So, I was I was thinking it was going to be LeBron verse who what whoever in the second game because LeBron’s always on opening night and then the Thunder would face a Western Conference team in the first game. I thought the Rockets were were a great option. Another reason why I also was thinking it was going to be the Rockets. It’s funny. I saw about a week ago I saw a post and I actually believed it cuz I just got up. It was like 9 in the morning. I just got up. Maybe it was 9:30 in the morning and just got up and I looked on my phone on Twitter and I saw um I was like half asleep and I saw on Twitter it said Rockets Thunder opening night and I want to say it was it was Lakers Clippers as well. Um so this person who who who did it on this account actually was was kind of close. I got three of the four teams right and I thought it said Shamronia cuz I was half asleep but looking then I saw it again at like later in the afternoon that day at like 4:00 and it said scam scamstronia instead of Shams and so um it’s kind of foreshadowing that that’s actually going to be the game the Rockets and Thunder I think number one it’s two there’s two things that I think are going to make this game great. Number one, the Oklahoma City Thunder celebrating their championship in front of one of their best franchise players, Kevin Durant. The guy who I think in my opinion is the best player of their franchise history. Um, and that banner and those rings and that celebration will be next to Kevin Durant. Also, this will be the first NBA game played on NBC since the since the 2001 2002 season. It has been almost 25 years. Yeah, it’s been 25 years basically since a game has been played on NBC. The Rockets and Thunder will have that right of playing the first game back on NBC of this of this new season as NBC is back in the NBA this year. So, um, they’ve usually TNT has been the team to h, you know, TNT has been the the channel to have opening nights for the last decade plus. NBC has that, not ESPN. Um, you know, NBC is going to have that as they’re taking over and and TNT is going bye-bye. Um, but inside the NBA is still going to be around with ESPN. So, um, I’m excited for this game. Um, you know, we we will we will see what happens. Um, you’ve got a couple months away from this game. This game is on October, October 21st. I’m excited for this one. I really am. Uh, we will see if the Rockets can come in to OKC and and, you know, get them distracted, get the get the champions, uh, a little bit hung over potentially. Um, you know, the Rockets did do this eight years ago against the Golden State Warriors. uh you know and and you know the funny thing last time the Rockets played on an opening night the guy they were playing is now on their team. Kevin Durant is who they were playing. Kevin Durant in that game against the Rockets hit a game-winning mid-range shot and they went back and looked at it. It didn’t count. The Rockets won came back from 21 down I think it was. Maybe it was 21 or 22, whatever it was. James, that was Chris Paul’s first game as a Rocket. James Harden had a great game. Rockets came back and won and um Kevin Ern was on the other side with the Warriors and now he’s on the Rocket side um and facing his former team. But the Rockets did do it, you know, eight years ago coming into Golden, sorry. Yeah. Coming into Golden State and and you know, that was one of the best championship runs we saw, you know, with with Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry and 1617 season. And you know, same thing as well in the 1718 season, but the Rockets were able to, you know, get them hung over in the in the 1718 season. I I don’t know if I’d say hung over because they had a 20 plus point lead. The Rockets came back. Um but so um yeah, I’m excited for for this one. Um alongside the the Rockets Lakers Christmas game, uh you know, Christmas Day game that we will see. So that that will be interesting as well.
