PHIL JACKSON SAYS KOBE & MJ ARE THE STANDARD ABOVE THE REST‼️#kobebryant #fy #kobe #lakers #fyp

Kobe’s like a son to me in that way. He was malible. I wanted to mold him in a certain way. Um there was the resistance between that fatherson type of relationship that we had. You know, Michael was 27 or six or something, maybe 27 when I started coaching the Bulls. Kobe’s 21. I treated him more like a son. I treated, you know, Michael more like a brother. He was formed. He had his game in hand. It was like a, you know, let’s do this. You know, with Kobe, it was more I want you to do this. Now, Phil, I understand you agree with Michael Thompson when Michael screams to everybody that Kobe has better basketball skills than Michael Jordan. Do you agree with that? Um, he um he does. You know, the thing about Michael is that m Michael would go on a he would go on a scoring tear. He would he would go on like a retribution night, you know, where I got to go go after their leading scoreer tonight because, you know, he and I are matched up and I need to take him down a notch to hurt this team type of thing. He he wouldn’t do the kind of 50point game sequence that uh Kobe did last year where he just you know obliterated uh you know the the record books and just went out and just uh you know had a hot tear where he just tore up the league for I don’t know what he scored 10 games in a row. He’s over 50 points. How many was it? Well, I think he had the four straight over 50 and then was there was a nine in a row of 40 or more. He was berserk. It was bizarre. Kobe didn’t have all the schooling. Dean Smith, North Carolina that Michael had was a little bit different. Taught Michael a few things. Both of them championship players. No doubt about it. You compare Michael and Kobe. What are the things that are different about them? Really the body. You know, Michael’s a broad shouldered, muscular guy who’s, you know, forceful. Um, could pick the ball up and do, you know, with just one hand and do something with it. Kobe is, you know, more of a slithery player. He can get through gaps and everything else and he steps through things and has a remarkable flexibility. It’s difficult because they’re they’re just a standard that’s above in all cases. Kobe was 21 when I got to the Lakers. He was a kid developing, never played college basketball, been a high school basketball player that could do what he wanted to do basically on the floor. and I asked him to be a point guard or to the league guard, set up an offense that was going to feature Shaquille O’Neal. So, he had to take a different role entirely. Kobe was still a dominant force on that team. It says something about the dynamism of these two guards that in fact, Michael compares Kobe is the only one that he could really say met his standards as a player and a guy that worked hard at his game. And that’s very true. They worked very hard. dedicated and I think it comes out pretty even for both of them.

  1. Case of a student getting better than the teacher. Both of them respect each other. They are brothers ❤

  2. The biggest difference is, MJ didn’t have a Michael Jordan to mould himself on. Kobe built on Mikes foundation, with Mikes help. Kobe was better, MJ is still the greatest

  3. You won’t get that kind of class and drive in today’s players. Today they go on social media and play the part. Then just go a shoot 3’s.

  4. Yet Kobe was a rapist and people celebrate him. Jordan was an extremely egocentric gambling addict who got his father killed. People still celebrate him.

  5. Sad Truth it's some lakers teams if you put Jordan on I don't think gets bounced out the playoffs 😮 of course Michael's better

  6. We all know what we saw, you don't need people to tell us who was better at what and who is the Greatest to ever even lace em.

  7. Listen to Phil not Shaq when it comes to Kobe. Not gonna lie that Kobe how my * taste song was funny as hell though.

  8. Kobe had a better prototype to mimic than Jordan did. But Jordan overall was still a bit better. That's no knock on Mamba.

  9. First you said MJ was the best because of his hands. Now you back pedaling. See MJ you should have kept playing for the bulls back in the 90s. You could have won 8 titles. You wanted to retire because Phil was leaving. Now he's dissing you for Kobe.

  10. What come on people Kobe is great but MJ is the 🐐.. love learned 95-98 MJ but 84-93 MJ nobody was like MJ period

  11. Both were great but two things that stands out, Kobe’s obsession and work ethic. Kobe didn’t smoke, drink, party….. He was a man possessed to be the best ever….. all he did was live, breathe , and play basketball.
Kobe took what he learned from MJ (& other nba players) and add to it.
If MJ is the GOAT, Kobe’s the REMIX

  12. Kobe: more skilled
    Jordan: more talented

Kobe practically could do everything Jordan could do without the physical advantages Jordan had, like bigger hands and more athleticism.

  13. But what about LeBron please oh pretty please include him I beg of you.. sincerely a LeBron fan.

LeBron: I’m entitled to it all. If not I’ll just say it for myself I’m the best there ever was and will be and everyone will believe me. Na, hmph..

  14. Just like he said got to mold Kobe than he even brings up Dean mold Jordan in some things in I agree but y y'all can't see that Bron had none of this highschool guess taught him just think if Cleveland got Phill when he left Lakers than we can fairly compare all Three that's only fair

  15. Great analysis and retrospective. Kobe wanted to be like Mike and better. Jordan still the GOAT …an azzhole but nonetheless the greatest.

  16. Lebron was given the keys to the ride str8 away. Kobe couldnt even practice with the starters when del Harris was coachin him. Del never liked kobe. If kobe would've been accepted sooner, his stats and impact would be greater. Then kobe had to take back seat to big diesel. Kobe sacrificed a lot before he became who he is.

  17. This is what all the silly revisionist need. Phil is qualified to speak about this and even references MJ saying what he thinks about Kobe. Salute to Phil and Micheal for going on record.

All you clowns trying to argue can keep those gripes to yourself. If you never coached these two, never played against or with these two, never drew up plays for these two or even personally knew these two then stay in your lane. Stop with the Kobe hate. Kobe is right there with MJ.
