This Trade FINALLY Gives the Miami Heat a REAL CHANCE in the Next Star Hunt
In reference to the Miami Heat trying to acquire a star, Barry Jackson tweeted out this. They lack the assets to make a competitive offer unless they suddenly/surprisingly made Bam available. Now, these words may sound very familiar to Heat fans, which is actually why I blurred out the date on this tweet because I want you all to guess exactly when Barry Jackson tweeted this out. What year do you think he said this? Now, a lot of you may be saying earlier this year, maybe last year, could have been five years ago. He actually did tweet it out earlier this year in reference to De’Aran Fox. But the point is, we’ve been hearing the same thing about the Miami Heats lacking assets for like 6 years now. Even when the Heat got Jimmy Butler, it’s because he demanded Miami and Miami only. Jimmy wanted to come here when he left Minnesota, but the Heat didn’t have the assets to get him back then. And of course, we know all the stars they missed out since acquiring Jimmy. Kevin Durant multiple times, Donovan Mitchell, Damen Lillard, the list goes on and on. Because, as we’ve said many times, especially recently, free agency is dead. In today’s NBA, you need to have trade assets to actually get a star. And the next time a star becomes available, I think the Heat should have at least four tradable first round picks to really be in the game for the next whale. And the problem is that right now the Heats only have two tradable first round picks. But what if I told you that there is one move the Heat could make that would double the amount of tradable first round picks they have to a total of four. And the way that he could do that is by acquiring a 2027 first round pick. Let me break it down to you. Right now, the Miami Heats own their first round picks in 26, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32. They do not have their 2027 first round pick as we all know because of Terry Rosir. And unfortunately, because they’re missing that pick, they are currently not allowed to trade their picks in 2026 or 2028 because then they would have back-toback years without a first round pick. And the Stefan rule does not allow that. So, as things stand today, the Heat can either trade their picks in 29 and 20 or 2030 and 2032. That’s how you get to the current state that we’re in of two tradable first round picks. But if the Heat were able to acquire a 27 pick and slot it right in that empty spot, then we would now be able to trade first round picks in 2026, 2028, 2030, and 2032. That is why it is so critical to have that 27 first round pick because now you would have four picks to trade and finally be in the game the next time a star asks out. Whether it is Giannis or Anthony Edwards in a year or two, you got to be ready and be proactive. So the next time a guy puts Miami on his list, you actually have a damn shot. I think we all understand the importance of that. So, I tried cooking up a trade for a 2027 first round pick that doesn’t completely dismantle the current roster because I think ideally the idea would be to use those four picks to bring in a star alongside Tyler and Bam. Of course, I could have traded Tyler for a bunch of picks and got it that way. I could have compiled all the young guys together to to get that pick. But I I think the Heat will need to keep a lot of their young talents also so they can attach them in addition to the picks to get a a true whale. Like if someone like Giannis were to ask out that he would have to trade all of those picks and Tyler or and the young guys in order to actually get them of course while keeping Bam at the bile. So, this was difficult to do because I tried making a trade work around either Wiggins or Norman Powell because I think those are two really good players that a contender may believe can put them over the top, especially come mid-season, if a team is playing better than they expected. I could see them saying, “Hey, the shooting of Norman Powell, the defense of Wiggins, that’s what we really need to solidify our championship roster.” The problem with that though is most of the contenders that that think you know power or Wiggins can put them over the top, they don’t have a lot of picks or or they didn’t have a 2027 first round pick specifically and that’s of course because they are contenders. So they likely traded a lot of the picks to get to the current position that they’re in. So this is the one trade I was able to cook up in which the Miami Heat received Brandon Clark, John Kchar, Jacqu Landell, and a 2027 first round pick from the Grizzlies. in exchange for Andrew Wiggins. I’ve always thought that Wiggins would be a great fit in Memphis right now. I think he’s exactly what they need, particularly since they literally don’t have a single small forward on the roster, at least according to the way that Fanso categorizes their players. According to the ESPN depth chart, they do have Jaylen Wells slotted as the small forward right now. But look at the rest of their depth at that positions. They they have Vince Williams as the second string and Santi Alama as the third string small forward. The guy’s like seven feet tall. All he does is shoot threes. They clearly need some help at that position. And even then, I do like Jaylen Wells a lot, but he’s currently not a starting small forward on a championship team, not as a sophomore. You know, there’s always a chance you get a sophomore slump. And even if he plays as well as he did last year, I just I don’t think he’s a championship starting small forward. He’s not the kind of scorer that Andrew Wiggins is. He is good defensively, but I don’t think he’s as good as Wiggins is. He’s just nowhere near the the level of player. I think Wiggins will be a a big step up for the Grizzlies in that position. It would give them a starting lineup of John Morance, Contavius Caldwell Pope, Andrew Wiggins, Jiren Jackson, and Zack Edy. That’s nasty to me. I mean, what’s the weakness there? You could maybe argue shooting depends how well KCP shoots this year. Wiggins has been inconsistent. Same with Jiren Jackson. But if those guys can shoot uh above average like they have in the past, I don’t see any weakness there. They can score, they can get into the paint, they can pass, they can fend. I think that is a championship caliber lineup. Then you would also have a bench of guys like Tai Jerome. You would have Jaylen Wells, you would have Santi Alama, a lot of other young guys who who might take a step this year like Cam Spencer, even Scottie Pippen had a good year last year. GG Jackson, we know how how great a young player he is. I think that is a very very good potentially championship contending roster. And Memphis isn’t really losing any players that they care about to to get them. I mean, Brandon Clark played 64 games last year. Yeah, but he played under 20 minutes a night. John Kchar was only playing 12 minutes a night last year and he’s currently listed as a fourth stringer. They just signed Jacques Landell, so I should mention that this trade technically cannot be completed until October, but it could still happen before the season. Uh, but even then with Houston last year, he he only played like 12 minutes a night. So, I don’t think he was going to be a huge part of of Memphis’s rotation this season. People may think that a first round pick for Wiggins is a lot, but I still think Wiggins might have that kind of value to the right team. There’s two years left on his deal, so it’s not like he could just walk in the off season and Memphis would lose him for nothing. But at the same time, let’s say worst case scenario, Wiggins doesn’t work out. It’s not like they’re locked into him for four years. So, I think two years left on Wigan’s deal is like the optimal amount of time. He does technically have a player option next season, so he could walk. But the only way Wiggins would opt out of that player option is if he thinks he can get more money, and he would only think that if he just had an exceptional season. So, it’s kind of like a win-win for the Memphis Grizzlies there. Either he plays great and they got him for two years or he plays exceptional and he opts out and they could resign him for more. So, I think it’s a win-win for a team that is trying to win a championship next year. Although FanDuel does have them at the 10th best odds to win the West, which I completely disagree with. I think Memphis will probably be above the Spurs and the Warriors and the Clippers. I know that’ll probably be a hot take, but they think they’re trying to win a championship regardless of what uh FanDuel has them at. Maybe you like Memphis’s overunder win total. You might want to check that out. But as a team that is trying to win, giving up one first round pick and nothing else is not a lot for a guy who just fits them perfectly. Especially when you consider Wiggins experience on a championship team before where he played that exact role. He thrived next to Curry and Draymond Green and now he’d be next to Jaw and Jiren Jackson who I’m not comparing to Curry and Draymond Green, but you get what I’m trying to say there say there. thrived in that role on a championship team and I do think he could do the same for the Memphis Grizzlies. For the Miami Heats, I mean maybe Brandon Clark or or Jacqu Lindell would play some, but ultimately we are getting that 2027 pick which is the points and it’s for just Wiggins, a guy who wasn’t really a part of our future anyways. And as we discussed earlier, I mean, this would allow a three-team trade like this to happen where now the Heat would get Giannis and the Bucks are able to get Tyler Herro, Khalil Wear, and four first round picks. I think that that is fair value for Giannis in the open market or even if not fair value, it’s definitely an offer that would get considered next to the 29 other bids in the NBA, which is not something you could have said about the Heats trade offers for several years now. You know, I don’t I don’t think Heat were actually at the table for a lot of these guys. And with this kind of trade assets, I think the Heat could be in the table for Giannis. But that’s all I got to say for this video. Let me know your thoughts down below. I’m really curious if you do think Wiggins still has first round pick value. And if not for Memphis, what other teams do you think that he would fit very nicely in? Make sure to drop your comments down below.
