league history. He said, quote, “I don’t have a position. I’m not a point guard, a shooting guard, a small forward, a power forward, or a center. I’m just a ball player. I do a little bit of everything and whatever it takes to win. That’s my job description. This guy’s one of one.” Ally, thank you. Here are the five for the Lakers. Ruy Hachimura is out there with LeBron James. Then it’s DeAndre Aton. Then it’s Luca Donuch. And it’s Reeves in at the two guard position. And for the Heat, we’ve got Mitchell. Also, Norman Pal out there. And Drew Wiggins is out there with Bam Adabio. And Grant, we’ve got two teams here that don’t need to rely solely on their starters. They’ve got a lot of firepower coming off the bench. Yeah, I mean, a lot of talent on display for both sides, and that depth makes each team more unpredictable on offense. Both sides have a number of guys who can step up on any given night. And so off the tip, it’s Miami. Pass to Wiggins. Here’s Yoic. Aimura covering. Pow. That’s good. I like that hoop from Norman Pal. Shoot it close to the hoop. Forget the long range stuff. Make it easy on yourself. Here’s James. Here’s Reeves. James inside, pounded by Wiggins. Just five to shoot. Puts it up from 15. Oh, can’t get it. Misses his first attempt. Here’s Powell. And Pal with the stuff. And there is some intelligence behind the passing of Adabay. Not flashy, but making smart ones. James outside. A little over a minute gone here in the first quarter. Excellent D there from Wiggins. Outside Mitchell. Powell outside. This one for three. Aimura with a rebound. Now Los Angeles with it. Four-point game. Things just don’t seem to be clicking for them offensively. Yeah, they really need to find a way to get back on track. Here’s Aiden. Rebounded by Yovic. Yeah, can’t see why he missed that one there. The D’s close, but looked like plenty of room. Here’s Aiden. And a nice finish on the layup. Eighton pouring a foundation there on the inside. Just living in the paint. Powell outside. Pass to Adabio. It’s Pal on the wing for three. The shot no good. And Los Angeles the other way now. And Graham. No team better than Miami at developing undrafted prospects. I mean for key roles too. You look at last year’s playoffs. Strus, Martin, Vincent, Robinson. It’s allowed Miami to stay on top in a salary capdriven league. You got to be careful once LeBron breaks the seal of the free throw line. There’s a lot of power and a lot of muscle coming at you. Usually it ends up with free throws. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. He misses the free throw. And the thing you marvel about with LeBron James is just the consistency of his excellence. He’s been a top five player in the league now for two decades. And the second free throw is good. The Heat have gone just two for four from the floor. Wiggins outside. Pass to Pal. Here’s Adabio and finished off by Adabio. Just doesn’t feel like Bam Adabio is 69. He covers so much ground. Aiden finds Donic. Back to Aiden. That one falls. Great setup by Donic. Aiden’s gotten his second bucket. The defensive effort was lacking a bit, but hey, give him credit for finding a weakness there. Just really smart basketball and exploiting whatever holes that he’s seeing right now in the defensive squad. Pass to Yoic. Clock at six. Here’s Wiggins. No good. A bit long that time. The Lakers trail. Here’s Reeves. Oh, the go-ahead bucket. No good. Wiggins against James. Wiggins. Passes to Pal. Here’s Yoic. And Aiden pulls it down. Pass to Donic. 43. Doesn’t go for him. And Miami will go the the other way with it. Here’s Wiggins. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. And I think Andrew Wiggins is a great example of how positions have changed. Came into the league playing a lot of the two. Now we see him at times playing a bunch at the four. Two shots left. The free throw drops for Wiggins. And for Wiggins, he’ll play the stretch four at times. Grant, he’s extremely versatile. NBA, that shows just how the game has evolved. Wiggins is a traditional small forward, but we’ve seen that push to small ball, shifting Andrew to the four and even the five during stretches. That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. Wiggins has showed himself over the past couple seasons as being a great two-way player. and he can still do damage on the offensive end. Don’t get that twisted. Now, here is James. Shot is good by Reeves. Yeah, here’s a list of things I don’t want to do. And right at the top is guard that guy. Pass to Wiggins. Outside Mitchell. Wiggins with it. inside Pal and he floats it in for the easy two. Credit the sweet setup on that one. Nothing to force here. Wiggins patient and he found the open man. Here’s Reeves to the left wing over Mitchell and it’s good off the back rim and in. Nice delivery there. You can’t hesitate when a man comes free on the perimeter. He got it. Went right into the shot from deep. Mitchell and Aiden pulls it down. The Lakers have gone four of nine in this one so far. And he lobbs it up to the rim and an emphatic jam on the lob. Just great hands for Aiden to time that one. Mitchell. The pass to Wiggins. Outside Mitchell now Powell. Six points for him, releases, will not go. Misses off the front iron. Well, mid-range is where he makes the money. So when the D’s slow to get out on him, always surprising to see him miss from there. Wiggins no good. The Lakers in the lead. Pass to Aiden. Down low. The shot off that time and it’s Miami the other way. Wiggins outside. Yep, that one goes. The length of Wiggins helping him out there. Able to stretch it up on the inside and find a shot. Fantastic replay we just saw of the Mobile One drive. had taken the onus on himself to make something happen. Got it into the teeth of the defense and made them pay. James finds Aiden. Donic on the wing, fires it and again no good by the Lakers. He loved to make them pay for giving up that wide open jumper was unable to do so. Hayes has checked in for Achimura. Hero outside. Back to Mitchell. Lays it up and banks it in. And you like the balance here, not just falling in love with the three ball. Boy, they’d love if anyone could get a bucket. Yeah, their offense has been grinding to a halt. Yeah, you got to go out and contest his three-point shot just to make him uncomfortable. LeBron knocks another one down. Hero outside. Back to Mitchell. it up top and finished off by Adabio. That’s everything you want there. Bam. Adabio up there. Vertical, good hands and a big throw down. Pass to James. Here’s Reeves and the three. Off target. The Heat with the lead. Here’s Powell. That one falls. Nice setup by Mitchell. Pal’s got eight. Great determination as Norman Pal just shook off that bump to the paint. Donic outside now. Here’s Hayes. Here’s Reeves. Back to Hayes. Down to five on the shot clock. No good with a jumper from the wing. Well, it’s a make or miss lead. Sometimes the Jays just don’t fall. It wasn’t a bad shot. Hero finds Mitchell. Pass to Adabio. Stolen by Aton. And there’s the call. It’s on Bam Adabio. That’s his first foul. And some changes here for the Lakers. Vanderbilts checked in for DeAndre Aton. Smart comes in for Reeves and Vincent is subbed in for Donic. gets Smart on the wing. Pal covers. Smart passes to James. Charity stripe shot. Unable to get that one. And Miami the other way now. Defended by Smart. Hero outside. lets the three fly, drops in the three, and the Heat lead by seven. This small advantage is starting to snowball. Yeah, this team is looking to add to the lead, trying to put the other team away and threatening here. Time called here. Los Angeles decides to talk it over. And the players take this opportunity to get some Gatorade. Getting some fluids in you is so important during these timeouts. Get fresh. Keep those batteries charged. Yeah. Without proper hydration, a player can completely run out of gas down the stretch of a ball game. And that’s something that none of these guys can afford to have happen. If you’re going to battle all the way to the finish, you have to be hydrated. Heat. Heat. Los Angeles has gone one for three from beyond the arc. Pass to James. Smart with the ball over Powell and again no good by the Lakers. The Heat on offense. They’re on an 11-3 run. Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down and Hero with a heroic slam. Here’s Vincent. He’s guarded by Hero to the inside. Pass to Vincent. Five on the clock. Here’s Vanderbilt. The put back. It’s good on the put back. Oh, phenomenal hustle. He has a knack for those boards, man. He is tenacious when that ball goes up. A minute and a half left in the first quarter of the game. Smart against Powell. Good D by Vanderbilt. The Lakers trail. Out of bounds. It’ll be Miami’s ball. And it’s Miami’s ball. They’re on a 13-5 run. Pal against Smart. He shoots it and it’s off the back of the rim. No good. James finds Smart. Pass to Vincent. 41 seconds left to play in the first quarter. Pocket four. Pulls it. Cash money on the open jump shot and it’s now only a five-point Heat lead. Powell outside. kicks it to Hero. Nails the wideopen jumper. Hero’s got seven. Well, the catch and shoot is where Tyler Hero excels. It’s James with the drive. Hayes, the pass to James off the mark from 16 ft. Well, if you believe in the numbers, that mid-range shot is not a high value shot even with little or no defense on you. It’s been all about Norman Pal for the Heat. Eight points in the quarter, showing how effective he can be. More NBA on 2K Sports right after this. And thanks again for tuning in. If you’re just joining us, we played through one quarter of action so far. Let’s quickly break down what we’ve seen from the Heat. Was simple. Rebounding made all the difference in the first quarter. They really got after it. Yeah, rebounding can also be just about will. And they showed some of that in going in there and collecting some boards. And for the Lakers, they’re shooting just 38%. Their offense not where they want to be. So on the floor for the Lakers to kick off the second quarter, Ruy Hachimura is out there with DeAndre Aton. Then there’s LeBron James. Then it’s Luca Donuch and it’s Reeves in at the two. Six to shoot. Here’s Donic. Miami grabs the miss. Ottabio’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Well, an all-star appearance for Bam Adabio in 2020. Grant, you think he can get back there? No doubt. I mean, I think the bigger issue is we’ve seen his numbers taper off just in the postseason. Can he reverse that and bring his best when it matters most? Lakers on D. They trail by seven. There’s James on the wing. Pounded by Wiggins. Here’s Reeves. Out to James. Lets it fly and misses it off the right side of the rim. Not a bad shot from the mid-range. the D’s giving it to him and he’s usually got an eye in that kind of range. That might not be the shot they want him taking. Even with the D backing off and he converts the layup. He’s got six now. Their plan working to perfection there if that was their plan. And if it wasn’t, maybe that should be their plan. Hero. The pass to Mitchell. Back to Hero. over to the wing. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. It’s on Ruie Aimura. Well, that was clearly a foul. All right, guys. Let’s get your take on on the scoring breakdown for Miami. They’ve done a great job establishing an inside presence. Now, that’ll open up more options offensively throughout the remainder of the game. Well, in the early going, the mid-range shot has also been working well for them. They’ve been racking up some points off of those jumpers, and those are probably being invited. First free throw is good. And the league has redefined the rules a bit regarding the gather step. Players getting more leeway. What do you think about that? Well, I think guys BA are getting a little more creative in practicing that. I mean, they they will adjust to the rule. That is one thing we’ve seen through the years with NBA players. And so, in the off season, if you can find a way to take advantage of a half a step more in order to gain advantage on a defender, I’m all for it until they change the rule back. And so, he makes both from the line. We’re about a minute and a half into the second quarter. Time now to hear from our reporter Ally Leforce. Well, Miami is very efficient. Coach Spolster said, quote, “You want to maximize your offense in all the different ways in your menu without feeling like you’re taking turns.” I don’t think anyone would say that about our team. They’re an unselfish group that likes sharing the ball and they enjoy each other’s success. Brian Ally, thank you. That’s a good find from understanding the defensive scheme and he just waited for his teammate to be open. Back to Mitchell. Got it. And the Heat lead by seven. And once more this half they find a way to get great position inside. Pass to Reeves. And here’s James. Here’s Reeves. He’s guarded by Hero. Six on the shot clock and there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It goes on. Bam. Out of bio. Shoot two. First one falls for him. So he picks up just one from the line that time. The Heat with the lead. Hero outside. Pass to Yoic. Corner shot. The Lakers with a rebound. James has got four rebounds now. Here’s Reeves and he gets it to go. Four for six so far. And for Ruy, that guy was wide open. So that’s an easy delivery. Here’s Yoic. Now here’s Wiggins. Pass to Mitchell. Here’s Anabio. and Aiden pulls it down for Los Angeles. They’ve gone three of five since the beginning of the second. And that one’s good. James and LeBron ready to shoot as soon as he received that ball outside. Mitchell hero outside up top. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. And the defense just all over Bam, but he hangs tough. Two shot. And he can’t get the first one. Good on the second one. You wonder just what it is that’s next for Bam as he’s shown incredible improvement in a very short amount of time as one of the more versatile bigs in the league. James finds Donic. Aiden in the high post working on Autobio. Reeves. No, they’re unable to get the tying basket there. And it’s Mitchell. The miss. The Lakers have gone four for seven in the second quarter. That one’s good from James on the assist from Donic. James has got nine. I mean, you really could call a foul almost on every play when LeBron James is driving. That time contact, no whistle didn’t bother him. James against Wiggins and he was camped in the lane there. He gets a 3second call for Los Angeles. They’ve gotten five of seven shots to fall in the second. Donic against Mitchell. Donic passes to Aiden. Oh, no good. Had a chance to take the lead to the middle. Oh, they pick off the pass now. The Lakers moving it up. Here’s Donic. Adabio grabs the board. Adabio’s got six rebounds now in the game. Hero outside. Hayden against Mitchell. Yovic. That one falls. Nice setup by Mitchell and the Heat lead by two. That’s the kind of passing you want there. Work the ball around, keep it moving, try to get an assist on every bucket. Pass to Reeves. Aiden against Anabio. Just five on the clock. Aiden passes to Donic over Mitchell. The Lakers with another miss. Here’s Autobio. Stolen by Aton. Here’s Donic. Autobio grabs the board. Ottabio’s got his seventh rebound here tonight. Here’s Yoic. Wiggins outside. Back to Mitchell. That shot missing. Oo, excellent D there from Aiden. The Lakers trail. Pass to Reeves. Back to Donic. Here’s Reeves. Here’s James. Nails the baby hook. James has got 11. And LeBron fighting right now for the offensive rebound. He refuses to come away empty-handed. And the Heat call time here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And the Lakers making a change here. Vanderbilt’s checked in. Hero. The pass to Wiggins. Now Powell. Back to Adabio. Pass to Wiggins and that one goes out of bounds. Last touch by James. Vincent checked in for the Lakers. Hero outside. Shot clock at six. Pass to Anabayo again. The Heat misses. That’s his shot and one I’m sure he wants back. Here’s Vanderbilt. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. Shoot two and that one falls. That puts him up one point in the game. Now both teams will make substitutions. and Vanderbilt drops them both. Miami has gone 0 for two from outside in this second quarter. Pass to Hakez and the officials whistle a foul on the shot. The bucket is good and he’ll go to the line. Simple. The closer you are to the hoop, the better your chance to score. Shoot him once. And so it’s the Lakers with it. They trail by one. Smart outside. Here’s James. It falls. Five for 11 in the game. And another huge night from LeBron James. He’s been doing it since 2003. Powell outside. to the inside. That’s good. And now he’s five for 11 in this one. Well, plenty of give and take so far. Yeah, six lead changes already. Both teams came to play. Back to Smart. Vanderbilt inside and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. Take a break. Take a break. Two shot. The first free throw is good. And Vanderbilt drops them both. Here’s Hero. Seven points in the game. Powell outside. Hero outside. Back to Powell. Shot clock at five from deep. Rebound the Lakers. And here’s Smart. He’s now one for two with that bucket. That’s nice vision there. You see that pass. You make the feed before the defense has a chance to react and that opens up a a much better opportunity to score. Going all in. That was the 2K drive. Well worth the second look. The aggressive take there to get inside. They’re looking to make things happen to try and take control of this game. Back to Powell. He’s defended by Hayes. Powell outside. Oh, poked away. It’s stolen by Smart. The heat going the other way now. Offensively, it’s been a struggle for him. Yeah, they need to string together some shots to have any kind of chance. It felt like Pal had the shot, but good job of feeding the open man. And there’s James from the ark. Back to Smart. And there’s the lob and finished off by Hayes. A great read between those two guys. The defense didn’t stand a chance. BA, these two teammates right here, Grant, they are connected. Inside Powell outside, pass to Hakez. Six on the shot clock and that’s out of bounds. Miami will keep it. Four on the clock. Pal’s shot is off. Well done on the glass. Gets himself in position where he can use his size. LeBron going to be a problem on the inside. Really hard to counter with his size and athleticism there. back to Hero. There’s the three. It’s Hayes with the rebound. Los Angeles has gone one of two from deep in the sec second quarter. Smart passes to James. Pass to Vanderbilt. Shoots a fadeaway. Oh, he missed that one. One for three in this one so far. Down low, Hakez. And count that. Two points and a chance for one more at the line. You know, that was an excellent play right there using his strength to power through contact. Shoot and the Lakers have possession. James outside. Pass to Hayes. Back to Smart. Five to shoot. Here’s Vincent driving in. Shoots over Hero. Vincent can’t hit. Miami trailing. Three-pointer. Two second difference between shot and game clock. Here’s Hero. And yes, it goes. Got a little English on that one. Hero’s got nine. And the defense knows that Hero can get that jumper working from just about anywhere. And that’ll do it for the first half. This game is tied and we’ll be back for the second half following the break. Keep it right here on 2K Sports. It’s the 2K Sports Halftime Show. We welcome you back. Ernie Johnson with Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny the Jetmith. Quite the tussle there in the first half, huh? Things were going Miamiy’s way from the beginning. At one point, they had a nine point lead, fueled by some entertaining defensive and offensive plays. At the end of the first quarter, they were out in front by seven. The second quarter did not go as well for them as they saw their lead vanish and find themselves in a tie ball game. Shaq, your thoughts on the Heat. They just keep giving the ball away. That’s not how you win. I understand this defense is giving them problems being disrupted. If they can just cut down on the turnovers, I think they can win this game. And Kenny, let’s get your thoughts on the Lakers. Playing on a road is having no effect on this team. I mean, between your planes, the hotels, the buses, it’s a grind. It could zap your energy level. But right now, they look like a fresher team. And we’ll see if they hit the wall in the second half. And that’s going to do it for us here. The second half of action is coming your way. We’ve got second half action for you. And if the next couple of quarters are similar to the first, this one could go down to the last possession. You got to like what we’re seeing from LeBron James. Can they come up with an answer for him coming out of the half? They have to change something defensively. Yeah, just way too easy out there. And I’m sure coach is going to make that a priority at halftime. Second half of basketball is upon us and we may be in for an exciting finish based on how close of a game we’ve seen so far. Here’s Reeves. James passes to Donic. Hey, expanding his range and out of bounds. The Heat will take it. And for the Heat, they’re shooting at 45% of the game game so far. And for the Lakers, they’ve got Rui Ayachimura. He’s out there with DeAndre Aiden. LeBron James out there with Luca Donic. And it’s Reeves in at the two guard. Pales to Adabio. So they take the lead. Seven points in the game. And maybe that’s why he’s nicknamed Bam. Taking contact. Bam. Bam. James finds Aimura. Mitchell against Donic over to the left wing and a miss there on the triple. The Heat with the lead to the paint. Here’s Yovic. Takes the assist and lays it in. Nice setup. A great move. I mean, the defense has no response. Well, just ripping through right there as he finds the open spot and gets right through there. High basketball IQ play. Aimura. Pass to Donic. Shot clock at five. Takes a three. Pal pulls it in. Not a way to get out of a funk. He needs to be looking for good, solid, more efficient shots. Not the wild one he took there. The three is up. Donic grabs the miss. Donic has got four rebounds now. Here’s Hachimura. Count it. And the foul. It’s on Norman Powell. Strong finish by Hachimura on that play. Andrew Wiggins checked in for Miami. One shot. One shot. Rui Hachimura is one of those guys who you’re assured of as putting in the work in the offseason. His shot has gotten a little bit more accurate and the confidence that he plays with continues to grow. Pass to Yoic over Ashimura. No good off the back of the rim. Los Angeles has got nothing to fall from outside in this third quarter. DeAndre Aton was so valuable in that 2021 playoff run for the Suns. Shot over 65% the entire postseason on their way to that NBA Finals appearance. And what a drive that was. Replay courtesy of Mobile One. Yeah, no doubt about it. He’s been a force of nature and that drive just another of his great plays this game. Here’s Yovic. No good from outside. and the former 1-1 the first overall draft pick Aiden he he’s just a different matchup that size VA and that great touch around the rim he runs the floor he’s a big presence down there you just don’t see a ton of centers like him around this league like you once did in the 80s and early 90s Aiden’s game presents a pretty hefty matchup issue shooting the free throw drops for Wiggins. And so he hits both The Lakers have gone two of five in this third quarter. James outside pass to Reeves. Three minutes gone now in the third quarter. And that one’s long. The Heat shooting around 44%. Not bad. Powell outside. Wiggins with it over Aton. And again, the heat missing. The Lakers trail. Here’s Donic. The shots good on the assist by James. I’m not sure there’s a player in the game who sees the floor better than LeBron James. Powell finds Mitchell. Back to Powell. Here’s Yoic. He’s got six. The three from Mitchell. And again, the Heat missing. Hachimura outside. He can’t get that one to fall. And Miami the other way now. Outside. Mitchell. Pass to Yoic. Wiggins with it. Checked by James. A step back shot. The Lakers with a rebound. Donic has got his fifth rebound in this one. Hey, great communication on the lob and the Lakers lead by three. With elite passing skills and court vision, Donets is an advanced distributor for his age. And we just had to see that mobile one drive one more time. Great stuff. And you know, a close game, you got to find that edge. High energy plays like that one can make a big difference. Now, a timeout called by Miami. You got to like what we’re seeing from LeBron James. Well, I hope this one is not to draw up a play, but to think about how they’re going to defend that man. He’s putting up some major numbers. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Get off me. Get off me. And Miami has possession. It’s a three-point game. Mitchell, the pass to Powell. Now Wiggins. Oh, nice finish from the low block. That one’s good. Wiggins has got eight. He really hooked the defender with that pump fake. It worked to perfection. Pass to James. fires at the elbow and it’s Miami with a rebound. Probably not the shot that was drawn up for that possession, but you can’t pass it up and you can’t knock it down. Yoic. They get it back. Second chance shot. No good. Yeah, better than giving up the layup. You want to go in there and use the hard foul. They did it there. That’s aggressive attitude defensively. Pass to Mitchell. Powell outside. Back to Mitchell. Clock at six from deep three-point range. And Aiden pulls it down. Aiden’s got doubledigit rebounds now in the game. James double teamed 13 ft out. Rebound by the Heat. Ottabio’s got 10 rebounds here tonight. So active. Pass to Wiggins from deep. Mitchell. It’s hauled in by Luca Donuch. I mean, he’s trying to shoot his way out of what’s becoming a prolonged cold streak. Yeah, he’s got to move on. forget about this sequence here and and try to find a way to get on the board. Assertive move. You can tell the game’s heating up a bit. Wiggins outside. Pass to Yoic. Here’s Powell. This for the tie. LeBron with the rebound. James has got rebound number eight now. He’s been tremendous at coring misses all night long. Yeah, it’s almost like he’s got a Mant on that ball here tonight. He’s in the right spot all the time. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That one falls for Powell. Yeah, can’t sleep on Powell defensively. He will step up and start to pour it in. Vanderbilts checked in for Los Angeles. Smart comes in for Reeves. And so Pal nails them both. Making shots at the line. You need a good routine and he certainly has one. Pass to Aimura. Smart outside. Outside Vanderbilt. Here’s Donuch. And Donic with the jam. That’s what happens when you let Donic get this close. Using his vertical to perfection. Time called here. Miami decides to talk it over. Failing to find a rhythm offensively. Something that needs to change and change soon. Yeah, they’re like a 4-day old soda right now. Just flat. They’re missing shots left and right and just not playing their best. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Hayes has checked in for Eightton. Hero finds Wiggins. Back to Hero. Back to Wiggins. Just four to shoot and he hits it to tie the game. Wiggins got seven points here in the quarter. Good to see Wiggins out there from the corner. Just great rhythm on that three. Pass to Aimura. Now here’s Vanderbilt, the 11-footer, and it’s Smart missing. Good job on the glass there, working hard to establish position and put himself in a great spot to come away with that rebound. And a big time jam right there. And Wiggins right now, it’s a buffet out there. He’s getting everything he wants in spoonfuls. Donic passes to Achimura. Shoots over Wiggins and it’s Achimura missing the Heat with the lead to the middle. Here’s Anabio. It’s Hayes with the rebound. Los Angeles has got nothing to fall here in the third. 0 for four, two points. That one goes. Smart has got his second basket of the game. I just think that’s trouble. You’re going to You’re going to let that guy shoot layups? You’re asking for it. Wiggins for three. Rebound by the Lakers. Hayes has got four rebounds in the game. Hero against Smart. Hero no good. They’ve done a great job of moving the ball tonight. Yeah, NBA. Keeping everybody involved keeps everyone engaged. Well, the compromised defense happened because of the attacking mentality of Hachimura. And he drops a first. And the Lakers making a change here. Vincent’s checked in. And both free throws good for Aimura. Here’s Hero. He’s got nine. Powell outside. Pass to Wiggins. Here’s Anabio inside. Here’s Powell. Yes, and it’s Anabio picking up the assist. Pal’s got 14 points. Good passing in the paint may be even more important to an offense than great passing on the perimeter. Those are areas where you got to be careful. Smart outside. Here’s Vincent. He’s guarded by Hiro. Pass to Aimura. fires the three and it’s Miami with a rebound. Obio’s got rebound number 12 now. Tenacity on the glass. Some solid defense from Hayes. Wiggins again. Tachimura smart with the ball. Here’s Hayes. Pass to Smart. Shot from 12. And he’s doing things on the glass tonight that we don’t often see. Well, this kind of effort effort will energize the team and get you going. Just gobbling up every board. Hero outside with it. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. It’s going to go on Jackson Hayes. Autobio on the inside knows he has to go up hard. He’s going to get hit and he forces the D to do it that time. Shooting two. And he knocks down the first one. Aiden, he’s checked in for the Lakers. And both free throws good for Adabio. The Lakers trail. Pass to Vincent. Aimura with the ball. Smart outside. Here’s Vincent. Five on the clock. The Lakers got to get one up. Late clock. Vanderbilt. No good. Miami shooting a low 29% since halftime. Here’s Hero. And yep, it’s good. Hero’s got 11. How about Hero gets inside and finds a way to sneak up his shot and get it to go. Pass to Smart Wiggins with a steal. Two second difference between shot and game clock. Hero left side. Six to shoot. Misses from short range. The third quarter comes to a close. It’s the Heat leading by four. And don’t go away. We’ll be back in a few moments. It’ll be the fourth quarter of basketball coming up next. And a moment now as we take a look at our State Farm assist of the game. You have to love his unselfishness and ability to make those around him better. Great hands, great vision. That makes great things happen for your offense. Well, this has been a great contest so far. I imagine the fourth quarter could have more action in store for us. They’ve got Andrew Wiggins, Norman Pal out there with Mitchell. Then it’s Bam Onio. That’s the group in the game for the Heat. up top. Powell. Pass to Mitchell. Shoots over Aton. Misses off the right iron. Donic against Mitchell. Here’s Reeves. Now Aimura. rebounded by Yoic. Just not sure if he ran out of energy at halftime or what, but so far just not himself in the second half. Wiggins no good and the Lakers shooting just 38%. Their offense not where they want to be. Mitchell against Donic to the right side. Aimura the pass to James and there’s Donic. That’s good on the assist from James. James has got his fourth assist in this one outside Mitchell. Wiggins for three. He can’t get it to go. And Los Angeles the other way now. Great job of closing the space and getting a hand up. Yeah, as good as you can do without getting a block there to defend. Aimura outside. Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws now. Oh man, putting points on the board. The defense being tough on Himura. And a moment to look at the scoring approach in terms of where the points are coming from for the Heat. They’ve been all about high percentage looks in this game. Working the ball inside and doing whatever it takes to get it to go. But they’ve also put an emphasis on driving inside in this game. The defense hasn’t been able to stop them from finding those gaps. Makes it. And the next one could tie it up. That one misses. The Heat have gone 0 for three in this fourth. Not good. Outside Mitchell and we’re about 2 minutes into the fourth. Fourth here. Wiggins. No good. If they score here, they’re back in front and they’ve been waiting to retake this lead for a bit. Back to James. James double teamed. Donic against Mitchell. Donic no good. Miami has gone 0 for two from outside here in the fourth quarter. Stolen by Eightton. Pass to Reeves. to take the lead and a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. It goes on. Bam. Auto bio. Ties it up. And his next one could give him the lead. And the free throw is good. Now leading by one. A little over two and a half minutes of pass here in the fourth. Powell outside. Wiggins outside. Back to Powell. It’s good. And he drew contact on the shot. So, he will go to the line. A three-point play opportunity. Nice shot. That one falls for Powell. Fourth quarter keeps moving along. Three minutes gone by now. James outside. Pass to Aiden. And here’s Aimura. And the layup is good off the glass. Aimura just sticking with that play. Smart not to back off because the defense puts a little elbow into him. Mitchell the pass to Wiggins. Up top. Powell. Donic against Mitchell. Oh, there’s the alley and Adabio slams it in. And he’s now got the double double. Nice roll by Adabio just having himself ready to receive that pass. Donic passes to Aiden. Here’s Reeves. Pal covers. Donic against Mitchell. Reeves no good with the triple. Fundamental footwork and boxing out there that allowed him to rip that ball right off the rim. Out to the wing outside Mitchell. Shot clock at six. The Lakers with a rebound. This James on the wing. Pass to Reeves. Back to James. Tipped. Pal against Aiden. Pal passes to Adabio. Hachimura with a rebound. Hachimura’s got four rebounds now. Now here’s Donic and he’s going for the lob trying to go for a lob there. Excellent defense and anticipation to stop it. Mitchell the pass to Adabio. Ooh, give him his fifth make of the game in 10 attempts. Bam knowing what to do. He’s owning the paint right now. Pass to Reeves. Mitchell against Donic. Aimura outside three-pointer on target from range. Aimura’s got six here in the corner and just great intensity down the stretch. I mean, he really wants to rock with the game on the line. Now, take a look at him locked in right now in this moment. Wants the ball in his hands and feels real comfortable with the shot he’s taking. Pal’s shot is off. Would you say testing the limits of his range there? Well, I thought they played smart and then all of a sudden it was maybe a little too flashy there and that uh that’s unfortunate. Mitchell against Donic. Pass to Pal. Here’s Adabio. Rebounded by the Lakers. Hayden’s got 13 rebounds in the game. glass eating. James finds Aimura. The shots good on the assist by James. James has got six assists now in the game. And we just had to take one more look at that great drive. Miami trailing. Trying to find a spark here. Yes, indeed. A rough stretch offensively. They could really use a basket. Powell outside. James with a steal down low. Here’s Reeves. Pal pulls it in. Pal’s got his fourth rebound in this one. They need this. And he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. The first thing I think of when watching DaVon Mitchell is defense. Mitchell entered the league as one of the best on the ball defenders out there. And no doubt DaVon Mitchell is an elite defensive guard. Why is that Grant? Well, BA, despite standing 6 feet, he’s got a 65 wingspan. Mitchell is really strong and quick, but the biggest thing, DaVon never takes a possession off. Shooting two. That free throw is good for Mitchell. Both free throws good from Mitchell. Los Angeles has gone two of three from beyond the arc here in the fourth. James outside. He’s feeling it and the Lakers get it back. Aiden no good. Miami has gone 0 for three here in the fourth. Pow left side. Donic against Mitchell. Can’t get it to drop. Good D by Donic. The Lakers have gotten five of 12 shot attempts to go so far in the fourth quarter. Hey, if you can’t block it, sending him to the line can be the next best thing. And a look now at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for the Lakers. Well, you love their unselfish play. Keeping that ball moving, good shot to great. That’s winning basketball. You also have to admire the way they’ve gotten out and run in transition and they’ve run wide. They’ve run their lanes. They’ve been doing it with a great pace and that’s produced some easy scores. No good on that one. He hits the second from the line and the Heat shooting just 37% in the game. Powell outside pass to Wiggins. Here’s Yoic over Achimura. Miami good that time either. Here’s Reeves. Pal covers and here’s Aiden. It’s James on the wing. Pounded by Wiggins. The shot by James. No good. And it’s Miami’s ball. Pal finds Mitchell looking to end this cold spell. That one goes in. Zero rim protection. Unforgivable in a tight ball game like this. Well, I hope there’s one player on that team out there that has interest in winning this game. Right now, it doesn’t look to be one. Here’s Reeves. How with a steal pass to Wiggins. to the inside. Yoic. Count the basket and the foul. It’s on Ruy Aimura. And Wiggins is a capable passer. Someone that wants to hit a guy in the right spot. One shot. The Lakers trail. Time out. Time out. Time called here. The Lakers decide to talk it over. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And now let’s take a look at the New Balance player of the game, Pam Adabio. Yeah, and it’s not surprising. and he’s really going at the defense inside throughout the entire game and just showing the D no mercy whatsoever. They constantly were feeding him the ball, clearing out and letting him do his thing. Let’s go now to the sideline and catch up with Alli Leforce. I had a chance to find out what the Lakers coach was going over with his guys. He laid into the team about being overaggressive. He said, quote, “You’re letting them get to the line as much as they want. We’ve got to dial back some of the physicality because it’s getting us in trouble, guys. Let’s see if they can ease up here. Thanks for that, Ally. Pass to Mitchell. Now, Wiggins checked by James. Shoots. Wiggins. No good. Sometimes you just have an off night, guys. And that’s what we’ve seen so far. Stolen by Wiggins. And they’re pushing it up. Here’s Adabio. And it’s out of bounds. They say it was last touched by Hachimura. Smarts checked in for Reeves. And now it’s time to take another view of that huge swat. Yeah, just some terrific effort there. And you know, the whole team will get an energy boost off a block like that one. On defense, the Lakers. Wiggins passes to Mitchell. Cats the three ball to go. Mitchell’s got five points now this quarter. Defensively, you can’t afford to get stuck on the pick. That’s one that the coaches will watch tomorrow with that player. You hate to see him give up in that situation. James inside, pounded by Wiggins. The shot by James. No good. Pass to Adabayo. That one falls. Nice setup by Mitchell. And now it’s a seven-point Heat lead. Just a lot of force coming from Bam that time. He takes the hit and is still focused enough to score. Double team on James to end the drought and Donic hammers it home. And from the moment he stepped into the lead, Luca’s been a big time player. Here’s Powell. James with the rebound. Los Angeles has gone two of four from the perimeter here in the fourth quarter. Donic outside to five on the shot clock. Launches it. The offensive rebound. Miami has gone only one of four from the perimeter here in this fourth quarter. Rejected by James. We’ve seen some big time blocks from LeBron. James had add that one to his reel. And so they choose to intentionally foul. 41 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter of this one. Pal for three. The shot misses. And you just can’t afford to give up that kind of look very often. Smart passes to Achimura and he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. The officials were right on top of that one. First free throw is good and that shrinks the margin to just four. Time to push away the distractions as Ruie has to be in the zone stepping to the line in the clutch. That one follows. So he hits both of them. Hey, a steady hand at the line in a tough situation. He narrows it to a one possession game. There’s a 4second difference between the shot and game clock. It’s Pal High post. Six on the shot clock. Smart with the defensive effort. The Lakers call timeout. They trail by three. 7 seconds left in the fourth. And there’s only one option. They need a triple. Now, this is all from the perimeter and outside the arc here. So a
