Knicks Making SERIOUS Lineup Changes – Report Reveals MAJOR Update… | Knicks News

The New York Knicks and new head coach Mike Brown are making some serious changes to the team, the lineups, the rotations, and also the overall way that the Knicks will be playing basketball in the next season. As there’s been a lot of discussion surrounding how this team can be optimized and at their best and using their players and personnel the best way possible. And now the Knicks have found the way to do that. And we’re going to break all that down, exactly how the Knicks are going to do that and these changes that Mike Brown is going to be making specifically to the lineups and the rotations. Something that Knicks fans have been waiting to hear about. What’s up, guys? Welcome back to Nick’s Digest. It’s Chris here. If you guys are part of that percentage that is not subscribed to Nick’s Digest, if you’re at that 60% that’s like, I’m not sure if I should subscribe, we got daily New York Knicks updates you do not want to miss out on. We’re having a bunch of fun on this channel as well. We’re going to get back to the live streams very soon. I’ve been traveling a bunch recently, so it’s been tough to do the live streams when I’m away or at music festivals in Montreal, but now we’re back. We’re on that grind. And Mike Brown is also on that grind because there is a lot going on with the Knicks right now. As Mike Brown is gearing up for his first ever training camp with his New York Knicks squad. After being hired on July 3rd to be the next head coach of the Knicks, Mike Brown had to make a few tough decisions when it pertained to what’s going to happen. And obviously that’s something that he’s going to work on. He’ll collaborate with the front office as well. But there’s a lot of questions surrounding what the Knicks are going to be doing. Are they going to be running that double big lineup? How are they going to use Josh Hart, Muel Bridges, Ojanobi, and their whole wings together? And how is Jaylen Brunson going to be able to have less responsibility with dominating the ball, which was an issue last season that definitely did require those sirens outside because Tom Tibido did nothing to optimize his superstar player outside of saying just go ISO and use pick and rolls and I don’t know, figure it out from there. We need a more structured offense the way that the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics and on top of that obviously the Oklahoma City Thunder all had. The Knicks didn’t have one of those and it struggled. I mean, they were able to beat Boston, but outside of that, they weren’t able to beat Indiana. And I don’t think they would have been able to beat Oklahoma City. Just considering both of those teams were very well structured on offense, something the Knicks were not. And they’re going to have to make some changes. And with Mike Brown at the helm, we know they are going to be able to do that. Now, a report has revealed an update on this as James Edwards recently mentioned that before he was fired by the Sacramento Kings last season, Mike Brown seemed to play seven or eight guys heavy to good minutes and then hand a few other players spot minutes as well. Edwards said, “I’d be surprised if Brown played 10 regulars on a nightly basis, but it’s also possible that something the suits want him to do and was a selling point for the job is again there’s going to be a lot of collaboration between Brown and the front office.” And Edwards also said, “Here’s the players on the roster currently who will certainly play every night if healthy. Jaylen Brunson, Carl Anthony Towns, OG Anobi, Josh Hart, Male Bridges, Duce McBride, Mitchell Robinson, Jordan Clarkson, and Gershon Yabuy.” Edwards continued saying, “I feel confident in saying that Brown will at the very least use a nine-man rotation to begin the season. It’s possible he extends it to 10 and that may depend on who the Knicks sign with that veteran minimum contract they have available to use. The team could still use a more traditional veteran backup point guard. It’s also possible that Brown gives a youngster like Pakome Doier some of the spot minutes like he gave to Alex Len while in Sacramento. You know, obviously Alex Lumb was not a young guy, but still, I think it does depend a lot. And I do think that when it comes to Mike Brown, he is going to be collaborative with the front office. And with that, there’s going to be nights where they’re like, “Can we can we test out a 10-man rotation? We just want to see what it will look like. At the end of the day, we’re still going to let things be your call.” Because this is not Leon Rose and William Wesley shadow coaching the team. I know there’s been some comments on that. They’re not shadow coaching. They just want more of a say because Tom Tibido would not listen to any of their suggestions. And don’t get it twisted, Leon Rose runs the show here. I know technically James Dolan does, but Dolan has mainly stayed out of the way. Dolan, like William Wesley and Brock Aller, wanted Tom Tibido fired. Leon did not. Leon did not want to fire him. And that was the one time that Leon’s ever really been overruled in his entire time here. I mean, Dolan did try to fire Tom Tibido once in 2022. And I mean, Leon said absolutely not. He’s like, if you fire Tom Tibido, it means you’re firing me, too, because I’m not letting you fire him right now. he’s going to be able to figure this thing out. The team personnel is just not working out for us right now. That’s the issue. So, Leon even took the blame for that. But now with Mike Brown here and the Knicks saying that they’re fully committed to one goal, which is winning the NBA Finals, it does mean that they’re going to try to not manipulate Mike Brown, but use him in certain instances. And when we look at what the Knicks depth chart is going to look like next season, we see if they use the same starting five as last year, Brunson, Bridges, Hart, Anobi, and Towns that then in the backups, you do have four guys who are certainly getting minutes. Induce, Jordan Clarkson, Gershon, Yabusale, and Mitchell Robinson. And here’s the weird thing about all four of these guys. They’re all legit sixmen. Like obviously Jordan Clarkson is, he’s one of the best six men of all time. But Mitchell Robinson absolutely is. Gershan Busalei shown that he could easily be a six-man though he probably fits a little better as a seventh man but not the greatest sixman in the world but would be a solid one put up 11 and five last year and then Duce McBride who also showed that he could be a good sixman as well. Now PCOM right now is in that second unit but the Knicks are going to make another signing. That signing as we talked about recently on the last video that I put out on this channel is very looking like very much looking like Ben Simmons as they are the favorites to sign him on a veterans minimum contract according to Brett Siguel. And I do at this point think the Knicks will try to sign Ben Simmons because they think they can optimize him in some way and they think of the fast-paced offense that they run. Ben Simmons will be able to attack the paint well and kick it out to multiple shooters. And we’ll see if it works. Obviously, when the playoffs begin and the rosters or rotations are going to shrink down, I would expect Ben Simmons to probably start eating some pine because the fact that he can’t shoot at all. Teams are going to manipulate the hell out of that and do what they did with Josh Hart and just have a big man on him so Carl Anthony Towns or Mitchell Robinson can be doubled so Mitch can’t get offensive rebounds or Towns can score at the hole. Now, if you put Mitch and Ben and Towns in the same lineup, that would just be interesting because it’s a big unit and it’d be interesting to see. But the shooting would you’d be banking on Towns and you’d have to have like probably Jaylen Brunson out there as well just for the shooting on top of Male or Deuce or someone like that. So, it becomes that whole cross the bear. But, we’re going to see how exactly this whole lineup does shake out. And on top of that, it’s about who’s going to start at the end of the day as well. I mean, as Edward said, the Knicks won’t play with quite the same pace that the Kings did under Brown. And that’s largely because of the personnel. And Edward said, I do believe the team will attempt to play faster, particularly in the half court. Pace isn’t just about getting up and down the floor quicker than your opponent. There’s a certain certainly part of it, but pace is also about making quick decisions and moving the basketball. Those will probably be the most visible changes under Brown early on instead of Tibido who kind of let them just sit there. And he also said, “I’m not sure if he’ll start Towns and Robinson together at the five with Anobi at the four until we know that answer. It’s hard to say how New York’s defense will change. I’d imagine we won’t see Bridges at the point of attack for 90% of possessions. I could see Brown allowing guys like Anobi to do that a little bit more throughout the season, especially, and this is me saying that’s not Edwards, but especially if Anobi is playing the three. If Towns and Robinson are both out there, Anobi is your he’s your small forward. Male’s your shooting guard. Anobi will play more point of attack and guard the best player on the opposing team as long as they’re not a big because you don’t need him to guard bigs anymore if Towns is out there because Towns can’t guard bigs. He’s weirdly better on the perimeter which still doesn’t make sense. But you have Mitch out there and Mitch is one of the best defenders in basketball. So on top of having male and OG and Mitch, which I also think is the correct unit to use. I’m not bashing Josh Hart by saying this at all, but I just he’s just not the same level of defender that male OG and Mitch are. So, I do think it makes more sense to put Mitch in. I’ve been very adamant about this for a while that it’s time to use the double bigs. It’s time to go after it and use it. And you use Mitch in that lineup, especially when playing in pace. Mitchell Robinson’s going to be good. You have Carl Anthony Towns out there who can sit in the perimeter a bit more and then use his ability to attack and you can double him. But Mitch is so good at sitting in that dunker spot getting ready for offensive rebounds or just easy dump offs that it would not be the same Josh Hard effect. And on top of that, we also just look at the fact that the defense is going to be so much better because again, no shade towards Josh Hart. I think Josh Hart would agree with me here. Mitchell Robinson is just a much better defender than him. And he’s also a different defender and the Knicks could use a different type of defender, a low block elite rim protector that Mitch is. He also won’t really without Hart, you could think about the rebounding, but not if Mitch is out there because Mitch is a better rebounder. And also, there’s things Josh Hart’s better at than Mitchell Robinson, too. I’m not saying Mitch is better at literally everything than Josh. saying that well Joshua’s definitely better at drinking breast milk. But like on top of that, there’s also, you know, most of the offense outside of rebounding and putbacks, but when it comes down to it, I think there’s a lineup that makes more sense. I’m 95% sure that every Knicks fan or basically every Knicks fan would agree. There will be some people who are definitely calling for Jaylen Brunson to have a double guard lineup with him and either Jordan Clarkson or Jesus McBride, someone like that, which does make sense. I think the Knicks should experiment a lot throughout this season. I think it makes a ton of sense for the team to experiment with a bunch of these lineups, but it becomes a tough question. Do you use Mitchell Robinson who put up seven rebounds, five points, and stealing a block per game in the playoffs, getting nearly four offensive rebounds a night? I think so. And then when we look at Josh Hart stats in the playoffs, they were also good. He shot 37% from three, but he wasn’t shooting a whole lot of threes. There were three attempts per game, but it felt like it was pretty onoff where there’d be nights where he wasn’t really shooting threes at all, and then sometimes he’d pull five, and it just got a little inconsistent and a little upsetting. But at the same time, it would be helpful for the Knicks to go out there and just kind of make that official decision. Meanwhile, Deuce McBride is just also another guy who I think should be considered based off the fact that he’s just a good player. Like there’s nothing short of Deuce would be a good point of attack defender and yeah, you’d be running super small ball, but we’ve also seen Mike Brown run De’Arren Fox with Malik Monk and then Harrison Barnes, Keegan Murray, and Damonte Sabonis. And that’s a very similar size, if not a little bit smaller than what the Knicks could run with Brunson and Deuce in that back court. Brunson and Juice both play very well when they’re on the floor together. They have a very good rapport together. They’re close friends and it just does make a lot of sense for them to try to go out there and use this unit. I would like to see them, even if it’s not starting yet, I would like to see Deuce play with the starters and just replace either Mitch or Josh, whoever starts. I do think it would make some sense as well for the Knicks to look into that. It just there’s a lot of moves the Knicks can make. It’s just a matter of what they’re going to do in this situation going forwards. And I would like to see the Knicks sort of just go the double big way. I’m not going to hide it. I think they should go double bigs. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments down below. Like this video, subscribe, turn on post notifications. Thank you as always for watching these videos. It really does mean a lot to me for all the people that have subscribed over this off season and the playoffs. It’s the channel’s grown so much since then. And there’s a lot of people who probably don’t know how the initial channel used to be in the ways where I was not the only host on this. And also on top of that, we were doing those happy hour shows every week. But we will get back to the happy hour shows. My buddy Matt and I, Matt who runs Jets Digest, I’m on there once or twice as well. Um, we’re going to get back to doing our live streams, which are very fun. We usually crack a beer or two, have have some good bar talk about the Knicks. It’s a really fun time. You guys don’t want to miss out on it. But I’m not gonna stop. I’m just gonna stop rambling now. Have a great day. Next.

  1. I predict that in two years or less you'll be making videos that talk about how much you hate Mike Brown as a coach. Been watching Mike Brown for years. Enjoy your honeymoon period because this is going to turn rocky. Thibs got the most he could get last year out of a flawed roster. The bench sucked last year, and you know this is true. Bring in Brown and make some changes to the roster around the edges and hope against hope and keep telling yourself over and over again that this was enough.

Yabusele should be an improvement over Precious Achiuwa without a doubt. It just sucks for the Knicks to lose Achiuwa for nothing. Clarkson will give you a guy that you know will be able to score some points off the bench so that's good. Clarkson, however, is far from perfect. He's never really been a "winning" type of player. He's basically and inefficient chucker who has played most of his career on bad teams. He's point guard sized with a two-guard mentality (like McBride). His career 3 point percentage is 33% so opposing teams don't care if he shoots and they will rather he shoots than Brunson or Towns (just like last year when teams would rather let Hart shoot instead of Brunson or Towns). He's averaged 2.9 assists per game and 1.9 turnovers per game for his career. That's an assist to turnover ratio of 1.5 so he has not been great with the ball in his hands and making other people better. Definitely not a real option at point guard for long stretches. Lastly, he doesn't scare anybody defensively. Neither does Yabusele for that matter. Knicks really didn't do anything this offseason to improve the teams defense.

  2. Chris my guy I really have to agree with you. Knicks fans have been screaming for Thibs to use the double big lineup. Hopefully under Mike Brown we will get to see it often and early

  3. Hello l knicks fan this team the have right now is not contender champion team because l dnt have big super estar like lebrón James or Giannis the need trade for lebrón James for wiinner NBA final this team is not wiinner NBA final

  4. You think because the knicks have New head cost is go wiinner NBA final You wrong the knicks need trade for lebrón James the caming 100 por wiinner NBA final next season sorry this real trust l knicks fan thank you mery much

  5. If you play the double big lineup, do you limit Robinson's minutes? He's so injury prone, I could see him getting injured early in the season if he's playing heavy minutes. I really hope Hocporte develops and is able to take up some of Robinson's minutes

  6. For Us To Have One Of The Slow Pace Off The Past 2 Season And Still Had One Of The Bezt Offense In The League While Relying On Jalen Brunson To Save The Day Is Crazy But Last Season We Did Play Better When Eveyone Was Passing The Ball But Will See What Happens With Mikr Offense I Expect Brunson To Play More Off Ball Than Ever Before He Can Do It But With Less Iso His Points May Go Down And Assist May Go Up Just A Lil Bit Make 8 To 9 Assist A Game

  7. We need to take a look at Malik Beasley, he would probably take a minimum deal at this point and I’m assuming he isn’t guilty.

  8. Exactly how they’re gonna do it???!!!

Without one single practice or preseason game being played??? I don’t think so! Right now, everything is just theory on paper.

The NBA is not a static thing. Different strategies are going to be required for different teams and different nights or circumstances. That’s the real secret to the Thunder! They’re pliable and adaptable around their core.

That’s what the Knicks need to do and be as well.

  9. If the Knicks are making changes to the lineup best believe Jordan Clarkson will be starting at the 2 instead of Josh Hart.

  10. We need Mitch in the starting lineup for his defensive contributions, and we also need to offer Robinson a new contract before the season starts. I think that if we wait until next summer, another team will outbid us for his services, just as the Thunder did for Isaiah Hartenstein. Come on, Knicks, let's give him his $$$ BAG, and let's run the Double Bigs!

  11. You can't ride your starting 5 til the wheels for off. It's a long season it takes a full squad. Being ready when y'all numbers called. Jalen Brunson is amazing at speeding up and slowing down. Whatever it takes to get his shot. But when he rest ,it's nice to have a point always aggressive making plays, and scoring when he needs too. Points Guards that defenders don't like always having to chase them, cause like some Sharks there's continuously movement. Different style then our captain. Let's not let up, I hope Mitchell Robinson talked to Patrick Ewing about scoring, free throws take advantage Mitch. Willis Reed n Patrick Ewing will go down in NY History as great NY Centers. And if Patrick Ewing and Bernard King played together they would both have rings. Because King scored 32-42 every night. And although I love Charles Oakley, Anthony Mason RIP and Xavier McDaniel all 3 solid strong fowards. King was on that next level!!! How I wish!!! What could have been. Joe Namath, Derek Jeter and Reggie "Mr October" Jackson.. Reggie won 3 in Oakland had to win 2 more in NY. Mr Jackson said although he won 3 in Oakland. Winning 2 World Series in NY. Made the public see him as Great!!!
