Miami Heat Already Thinking Of Dumping Simone Fontecchio? | Trae Young Worth A Pat Riley Harpoon?

Hey, welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. If you guys could subscribe, that’d be great. Uh, hit that like button, comment. You know, you guys know how to use YouTube at this point. Uh, I wanted to get to this. So, there was a report from the great Mark Spears of ESPN, a Hall of Famer, and uh he was discussing Trey Young, Ice Trey, uh and it was discussing his contract situation, which is interesting because it’s a little bit in line with what the Heat are going to be dealing with with Tyler here. Now, not as much money. I believe the extension that he’s eligible for is probably what Tyler’s going to be up for the next year, but it says that he is eligible for a 4-year $229 million extension. And Trey Young is kind of the face of the Hawks. I mean, he I mean, he is the face of the Hawks, but maybe they’re leaning a little bit more into an is Jaylen Johnson. They got Dyson Daniels. They got a lot of fun pieces. They brought in Christophs Porzingis. And a lot of people look at the Atlanta Hawks and say, “Hey, maybe that team’s better than the Heat this year with what with what they’ve brought to the table.” I mean, that was not a a great line of separation between these two teams. Um, they lost Jaylen Johnson in the middle of the season. Is this a team that goes out there and and takes a step and, you know, maybe passes by me and especially in a in an Eastern conference where you’re like, you know, what is the difference between these two teams? Um, so you know, that remains to be seen on on where things go with the with these perennial playin teams over the last few years, but Atlanta is in a spot because, you know, they’re putting their chips in and and seeing what this team can be, but not necessarily, I guess, going full go on um investing in Trey Young. But Trey Young has certainly gotten some more opportunities. He’s going to be 27 going into this year. Couple years older than Tyler Herro. Um but has, you know, been a a scoring leader, has really upped his assist game. um but is also you know got the question you know can shoot from all over the place and uh and can shoot with no conscience but can also be in a place where you know he’s got a lot of defensive shortcomings and so it is one of those things where this Hawks team I think is in a place where you know they’re wondering all right let’s see where this goes like the Heat are probably with Tyler and Ban and then uh then they’ll pivot their move but the word that Mark Spears used is that Trey Young is disappointed that this is where it’s come from because, you know, he is the guy that’s probably bringing in the most fans there and of course had an Eastern Conference Finals run even though I think that’s people always talk about the Heat Bubble run. Talk about that 2021 season. Talk about how weird that was. But his disappointment is I do think I think it is, you know, warranted in some way from the Hawks. I think you’re probably wondering like, hey, is this the guy who can carry us all the way even though we know that he’s probably one of the most famous in the league? And everybody loves doing the ice tray. It’s cool. Trey5 if you were on the Miami Heat, right? But, uh, you know, for the Heat, if they were to get involved in some business, first of all, having a back court of Tyler Herro and Trey Young, I mean, that is that that feels like a defensive disaster. Uh, it feels a little bit redundant. And you know, we’ve seen in the past Trey Young with some guys in the back court where it’s like, yeah, I don’t necessarily know if having that other scoring guy like a Deontay Murray next to him is the best. We saw with John Collins kind of got fed up with it. Um, so even this idea that he’s a a better assist guy than Tyler Herro or getting guys involved, maybe he’s a little bit more of a point guard. certainly good at getting the bit the ball to his bigs, probably better than Tyler Herro, but he also hasn’t seemed like everybody loves playing with the guy. And then I wondered to myself, I’m like, well, if the Heat were to get involved in a Trey Young trade, like what does that look like without Tyler Herro? And then are the Hawks doing that? because Tyler Herro is also going to be asking in the range of like, you know, it’s not 57 like the like the uh the De’arent Fox deal, but he’s going to be asking for a hefty price, too. But look, I get Trey Young being disappointed that the Hawks are in, but it’s a new front office, dude. I don’t know what to tell you. It is, you know, the Heat, they’re in a place where they may look at Tyler a little bit more lovingly because it is the same front office. It is the same people that have watched him grow up. So, if Tyler Hero was here with a new front office, would this even, you know, of course they would probably be in a place where there was going to be more questions, but you know, I saw this and I know people were like, “Oh, yeah, maybe.” I mean, it’s sexy. I get it. It’s sexy. He can He’s He’s got some fun plays. Trey Young is fun. You know, he’s also fun to beat. It’s fun. It’s fun when the Heat have tortured him on defense. I’ve loved that. Um the the back and forth with Jimmy Butler was great fun when Gabe Vincent tortured him and was like he’s like let things go me that was great fun too. So I don’t know but one thing that I am excited about is the Euro basket that’s coming up. But there were a couple of things that were out here that I’m like I don’t know dude I don’t know where this is coming from. There was a report today that the Heat could look to wave Simon Fonteio to get under the luxury tax. Um, which I was a little confused by because his contract is guaranteed. Doesn’t work like that in basketball. It can’t be if he was if it was like So, for example, the Duncan Robinson deal before he ended up uh opting out. The deal was if the heat if he did opt in the heat could have waved him and 10 million would have come off the books and I believe they would have been under the luxury tax. Uh that I think was before the no mechanism but you get it. The the whole deal the whole 20 million wasn’t guaranteed. The fontio deal is and there was this report from some reporter in Istanbul who I don’t know if he’s credible or not because he’s from Istanbul and I don’t follow their beat very much. Sorry. Um, but I guess there were teams in Europe maybe eyeballing Fonteio and being like, hey, you want to come over here? Maybe. And they were making it seem like, well, if the Heat wave him then to get under the luxury tax, then maybe. Now, the way that they could do it is they could do what they did with Donovan uh with Damen Lillard. What it’s been explained to me, they could wave and stretch him, and that’d be like three payments of like 2.3 million, something like that. and that would be able to get the heat on the luxury decks. The thing is he would also have to add a player because they would be at 13 to be at 14 players. So I don’t think this there’s much weight to this. I would venture to say I think the Heat are going to have fun. Remember the Heat like these heat killer guys. Fontio’s had some really big games against them. I think they’re excited to see what he does with Italy and to see what he brings to the table. The heat have become very international now. They’re very they’re very chic. They’re very they’re very United Nations. We got Serbia. We got Lithuania. We got Sweden. We got Italy, dude. We got Russia. We got Canada. We got the US, dude. If you want to count haime in into Mexico, we’re venturing there, too, dude. So, it’s a it’s a it’s it’s a it’s a great great uh international flavor in the Heat locker room right now. Which, by the way, uh I saw Norman Powell got his locker today. He got the old Jimmy Butler locker. The one right next to the door. The old DWade locker. The old Jimmy Butler locker. Now Jimmy would get two lockers and D Wayade would get two lockers. Um but he is next to DaVon Mitchell. Single locker. I believe Ban has the multiple lockers right now as the captain as the captain does. Um but he you know he may have a new locker made because I believe I haven’t done the tour recently. So I don’t know that it’ll be something we figure out if they’ve reshaped where. You got no K love there anymore. So, we’ll see. There’s going to be some new some new locker mates for sure, but uh that was noticeable. Yeah, he uh the old number 24 and he had said that him and Haywood Eismith have some kind of a deal together, which is cool. Um, the other thing in the Euro landscape, I Google translated this interview with Nicola Yoic and he was talking about the coaches that have shaped him and first of all he said that the you know the the vets who have influenced him UD, Jimmy, Caleb, Lowry were all big influences from after he got after World Cup. Then he was asked about what coach has shaped him the most over the year and he said o I’m going to butcher this one dude coach dragup aramavic gedra the coach from mega who trained me for three years and then translating this from Google so excuse me I’m sorry Serbia uh he meant the most to me especially off the field he taught me how to be a professional and how to behave and how to think and he said, “Uh, what about from uh coach Spolstra?” He said, “I would take everything from Spolstra. He’s a genius on the board, I guess, on the playbook type of thing.” So, that was his little nod to uh to to Spo that was going on. So, I don’t want to get too deep into it because again, I’m Google translating and the Serbian viewers will look at me like an idiot, which they rightfully should. But you know what’s universal in every language? Yo, dude. That is. So looking forward to watching him in action.

Tobin discusses the rumor from Marc Spears that Trae Young is disappointed by lack of extension talks. Is Ice Trae-0-5 worth another peaky-poo? Rumor out of Europe has the Heat waiving Simone Fontecchio to save against luxury tax even if the move doesn’t seem to add up

  1. rather have a developing Tyler at not the supermax than Trae at a supermax…Trae is a big defensive hole, Tyler's team D is better…

  2. The fact that “Heat” fans rather have Trae over homegrown Tyler is honestly sad. Trae is miles worse at defense, inefficient, and gets paid more. Sad fake fans. Win or lose I’m a Heat fan. Tyler is a Heat drafted all star that keeps improving. No one is winning with Trae.

  3. the salary cap doesn't lock in until the end of the season so they have plenty of time to get under the luxury tax…a few trades are likely this year…

  4. Trae Young the leagues worst defender. Trae Young 34% from 3. Trae Young hated by coaches & teammates 👍. Good thing everyone knows Riley & Spo don’t like Trae.

Hawks clearly know Trae ain’t the guy either

  5. All of you, PLEASE hold off from thinking that the HEAT 🔥 should waive
    SIMONE FONTECCHIO,
at least wait to see how he does in the upcoming
    EURO FIBA tournament,
this dude is a good shooter and a good defender 6'7 with a great wingspan of 6'11, …
Please understand that his current contract is very team CAP friendly…

  6. With Trae and Tyler, Kel’El would have to average a triple double with blocks. “ Nobodies doing it with blocks!” 😂😂😂

  7. I see why a lot of people don't want to play for the Heat. You guys act prejudice and sound prejudice. Even the cops with Tyreek Hill. I would love to see your reaction if we move on from Jovic and keep Ware white boy.

  8. No way to make content right? I guess Tobin is yet another casualty on Heat’s front office incompetence. Having to talk about voiding Fontecchio, I’m glad for him, at least he won’t have to be in this team being embarrassed every time we’re on national TV.

  9. Trae Young is basically a guy to get people back in the arena paying tickets and wasting money on a jersey. Other than that, there’s no moving the needle with him, for every 10 points on the board he puts (either his points or after an assist) we get 20 on the other side. Bad move, expensive player and not a winner.

  10. Herro sucks man Riley just has some affinity for him and it’s gonna doom this franchise when we give him 50 mil a year

  11. You not going to upload about Miami Heat getting robbed ? They can't get great players and they can't even protect their own historical merchandise. What a joke franchise.
