This Is What The Warriors Wanted
Have you guys noticed how quickly that the NBA moves these days? Teams flip entire rosters in what feels like minutes. Players switch jerseys faster than ever, and franchises swing from contenders to pretenders or vice versa practically overnight. Just look at the Golden State Warriors. A few months back, they landed Jimmy Butler in a blockbuster deal. And suddenly a team that looked stuck in neutral took off, ripping off an impressive 23-7 run to close out the regular season. Before Jimmy arrived, the Warriors felt drained of talent. And even Steph seemed unsure if desperately chasing wins was worth it. Desperate trades or desperate, you know, moves that deplete the future. like there is a responsibility on allowing or keeping the franchise when it you know in a good space and good spot when it comes to Butler ignited something special in Golden State briefly restoring their contender status that is until Steph Curry’s body broke down from the sheer weight of carrying the team against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the conference semi-finals still at that time hope was alive. Steph was eyeing a game six return and all he needed was playoff Jimmy to do a Miami style playoff takeover, buying enough time for him to step back onto the court. Everything was lining up perfectly, or so Steph thought, because instead the Warriors collapsed, dropping every game Curry missed and bowing out in just five games. Playoff Jimmy never arrived. Instead, it was Jonathan Kaminga who unexpectedly stepped up, battling against the defensive powerhouse, the NBA’s sixth ranked regular season defense, and the playoffs fourth best defensive unit by rating. But how on earth does this happen? The same dude that Steve Kerr imprlied that he couldn’t trust with heavy minutes if he had wanted any shot at winning. The same guy who was constantly battling DMPS just outshined the guy who signed a fresh 2-year $111 million payday. With Kaminga hitting a restricted free agency fresh off of this series, the Warriors were staring down yet another nightmare scenario. Another supposedly promising young talent whose issues threatened to blow up right in their faces. Because just when the aging warriors desperately needed a player with Kaminga’s potential, Kaminga was already checked out, no longer interested in Golden State’s vision. And somehow that’s not even the worst part. Because as this unfolds, a darker, more unsettling truth begins to surface. But before we get into that, if you’re feeling the video so far, smash that like button, hit subscribe, and ring the bell to stay locked in and keep more of this content coming. The Golden State Warriors best players are Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler. And out of this trio, the youngest is Draymond Green, who just turned 35 in March. Draymond can still tilt games with his defense, but he’s not dominating both ends like he once did. And the same goes for Jimmy. I’d love to say that Steph is in the same boat, but honestly, he still looks like that dude capable of turning back the clock whenever he wants. Unfortunately for Golden State, their franchise savior is also their oldest star. Steph hit 37 this past March. And even though he makes Father Time sweat buckets, he hasn’t quite found the fountain of youth just yet. That’s exactly why this Jonathan Kaminga saga couldn’t have come at a worse moment. He’s got his problems and occasionally puts up numbers that feel emptier than the calories in the junk food that I eat. But name a young talent who hasn’t stumbled a bit along the way. The Warriors know deep down that Kaminga is exactly the kind of fresh legs and upside that they need on the court right now. ESPN recently emphasized how valuable that Kaminga could be for this Warriors team, giving them vital scoring bursts when the vets need a breather, which is exactly what Steve Kerr has been reportedly preaching to him lately. Kerr himself has stepped up to try and salvage the relationship. But from Kaminga’s perspective, the Warriors recent efforts feel like desperation. Just another case of trying to close the barn door after the horse is already bolted. According to Shams, Jonathan Kaminga reportedly thinks that the Warriors have stalled his development. And no potential young star wants to suit up for a team or a coach that they feel has kept them stuck in neutral. From Kaminga’s perspective, this whole thing looks messy, almost personal. The Warriors knew the most pivotal off season of his young career was on the horizon. So, how did they prepare him for it? They brought in a player at his exact position. Not just any player, a superstar. They handed him a $111 million check without hesitation. And then, as if that wasn’t loud enough, they basically said that the two of them couldn’t function together on the court. All the while, you were stuck riding the bench night after night, DNP stacking up like receipts, treated like a backup plan until they had no choice but to finally play you. To him, it didn’t feel like development. It felt like sabotage, like a test rigged for him to fail before it even began. But while Kerr’s missteps have undeniably escalated the tension, Kaminga has also played a part in digging himself into a deeper hole. In my previous Kaminga video, I mentioned that he had all of the physical tools and upside to blossom into a Shaun Marian or Aaron Gordon type of player for Golden State. Instead, Kaminga has tried to skip steps, immediately chasing stardom. Allah Paulo Banker, something that was never realistic on a squad that already had superstars when he arrived. Ironically, Fron Bogner, the guy picked just one spot after Kaminga, has approached his NBA journey completely differently. Even though Fron Bogner landed in Orlando, a team without the veteran structure and winning culture that Kaminga walked into, he’s quietly transformed into one of the league’s best young two-way forwards by embracing a winning style of basketball. Honestly, Vagner deserves way more attention than he’s getting. Whenever people mention the Magic, they immediately talk about Paulo Benro. Even though Vogner has arguably been the better all-around player, and I love Paulo, but I’ll say that again for anybody who needs to hear it. Vagner, he didn’t spend this summer worrying about restricted free agency or chasing down a payday. He locked up a massive 5-year, $270 million rookie max extension instead. Just like us, he’s watched this situation play out at his own leisure. In a league where teams practically beg young talent to justify huge paydays, all Kaminga needed to do was embrace his role and make himself impossible to bench. Unfortunately, he handed Kerr every excuse that he needed to keep him sidelined. The truth is that this had turned into a lose-lose scenario for everyone involved. And that’s something that I’m just going to have to keep reiterating. Kaminga was stuck chasing the dream, a shiny five-year, $150 million payday that the Golden State Warriors refused to make a reality, offering instead a modest 2-year, $45 million compromise. Meanwhile, the Warriors were trapped in limbo, haunted by the ghost of untapped potential, frozen in place as they anxiously awaited Kaminga’s next chess move. And I saw Gary Peyton the second two days ago. Yep. He’s I’m like, “What’s going on?” He’s like, “Waiting on JK.” Right. He is. Horford is. Everybody is. Yeah. Right. That was July 31st. According to Shams, Golden State essentially paused their entire offseason strategy because their plans revolved so heavily around resolving Kaminga’s future first. Think about how crazy that is. It’s like the Warriors hitched the ride with Kaminga to the gym, finished their workout, and now they’re awkwardly standing by the exit, ready to leave, but helplessly waiting because Kaminga has the keys and he’s not going anywhere until he’s good and ready. While to the public, Golden State continues to paint a picture of Kaminga being firmly in their future with Tim Kawakami doubling down, saying that a summer trade is off the table. Behind closed doors, the cracks are widening. Kinga’s patience has worn dangerously thin to the point to where he’s apparently prepared to bet on himself, echoing the confidence that he’s shown on his IG story. even if that means signing the one-year qualifying offer and reclaiming full control of his career. And according to an NBA exec who spoke to Fred Katz, that move would be a dagger to the Warriors front office. It would screw them from a team building standpoint because they need him on a deal where they can trade him. Taking the qualifying offer would lock Kaminga into a modest $8 million contract for next season. But the real win for him is at the end of the year he becomes an unrestricted free agent free from Golden State’s matching rights, free to pick his next destination without the Warriors lurking in the shadows, ready to turn him into trade bait. Golden State had been aggressively exploring trade options for Kaminga. And two familiar teams that have consistently popped up in the rumor mill are the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns with proposals getting up to 4year 90 million in sign and trade packages to land him. This is super decent money for Kaminga. So what’s the Warriors hesitation? Simple. Neither team has offered Golden State the one thing that they’re truly craving. And no, it’s not Jaylen Green or Sabonis. What the Warriors really have their heart set on if they’re letting go of Kaminga is landing an unprotected first round pick while making sure that Buddy healed and Moses Moody stay put. I guess that Buddy’s 33point game seven explosion against the Rockets, missing only three shots left an undeniable impression. He might have not been Robin to steps Batman like Jimmy, but there’s no denying that Buddy quietly became Golden State’s unsung hero down the stretch. Of course, locking down Buddy, Moody, and squeezing maximum value from any Kaminga trade is crucial. But if Kaminga bets on himself, takes the qualifying offer, and eventually leaves Golden State empty-handed, as we just alluded to, they’ll watch helplessly as one of their prized young assets slips through their fingers. That means no sweet returns like the enticing Malik Monk plus 2030 protected firstrounder package that we heard about or even that bland Nick Richards package that Phoenix put forward. And if there’s no reasonable return package, the pipe dream of landing Giannis might just vanish right along with Kaminga. It might sound a little ridiculous, but reports are saying that the Warriors are dreaming big. Tim Kawakami says that the Warriors also don’t want to give Jonathan Kaminga away for less than his full trade value because they’re trying to maintain every asset that they’ve got just in case the Yiannis Takmpo trade market heats up. Here I am again outlining how unfortunate it is that Kaminga hasn’t played up to his potential thus far in Golden State. Months ago, Steph Curry threw an exclusive all-star weekend party in San Francisco and Giannis Antmpo crashed as the only non-warrior on the invite list. The two superstars already share the same agency and Giannis hasn’t exactly been shy about his Curry fandom. NBA insider Brian Winhorst even laid out a scenario where Golden State lands Giannis, provided he ever demanded a move exclusively to the Golden State Warriors. But as devastating as it would be to see Steph and Giannis teaming up, the odds of this dream duo coming together probably aren’t worth betting your house on. As I jokingly say this, Shams is giving the Warriors some added hope. What is the latest on his future with the Milwaukee Bucks? So Pete, I’m looking at the date we’re standing here. It’s August 4th, right? Sources tell me there’s still nothing set in stone about whether Jans enter into Kmpo will stay in Milwaukee or whether he will be leaving. And so adding to the intrigue, he dropped this nugget. There are multiple teams that I know of that are literally waiting right now on what decision Janisante Takmpo makes. I’m sure that Bucks fans saw this and immediately felt like they were trapped in an NBA version of Groundhog Day where Warriors fans and let’s be honest, plenty of other hopeful fan bases put on the biggest grin possible. Time to dust off my classic he trying to gas it up meme. But after seeing how wild the Luca Donuch trade turned out, can anyone confidently say that there isn’t at least a tiny microscopic super small chance that Giannis to Golden State becomes a reality? We’re definitely going to dive deeper into the Bucks very soon because Milwaukee’s off season just keeps getting more interesting. Even if the Giannis stuff is a nothing burger, what an interesting off season that they’ve already had. Hit subscribe and turn on notifications so that you guys don’t miss that upload. But before you go, drop your takes in the comments. Is Giannis the Golden State pure fantasy or is there at least something there? Given the Kaminga saga and an aging warriors core, can Golden State still compete next season? Or are Steph Curry and this dynasty finally cooked? Anyways, there’s some more going on in the basketball universe that we have to be covering. So, clicking one of the videos that’s on the screen right now is a great way to support this channel. I’m Get Like Coupe, bringing you guys the scoop. Until our next upload.

Curry is not blameless in this. Why is he not facilitating the eventual transfer of leadership of the Warriors. They should have emulated the Spurs in the way they gave the team for Robinson to Duncan to Parker. Nobody stays forever.
Kuminga & GSW need to make up their mind, are y'all moving forward or nah. It's just kicking the can down the road at this point. Also, Giannis energy is really different since that championship š.All that loyalty talk has disappeared
Jimmy Butler is the most overrated player in the NBA. Heās Khris Middleton except instead of being cool and chill he acts like a dick. People interpret his dickishness as skill. He plays when he feels like it and acts like a child when heās upset. So have fun with that Warriors. His counting stats show him as dollar for dollar the worst value in the league.
Giannis doesnāt want to be Kevin Durant 2.0. Durant is a great player but the move to the Warriors always seemed like he needed a team that could win the championship without him in order to win a chip. Giannis is his own man and welcomes taking a team on his back and carrying them. Heāll win again. It may or may not be in Milwaukee but it wonāt be in San Francisco.
20.8 to 20.2 booooooooooooooooo
Kuminga had a ton of trade value a few years back, seeing how theyāre treating him now they shouldāve traded him then. Instead, theyāve killed his trade value and seemed to be intent on making a point in shaming this guy. This is not only shows that Steve Kerr and the front office are on two different pages, it shows that Steve Kerr canāt even implement a talented young versatile player into his system because he doesnāt āfitā. Dude youāre supposed to be an all-time coach, make it work. It seems like the Warriors and Kerr are playing games at the end of Stephen Curryās career, when you think you would want to be maximizing his last few years.
You conveniently left out that Jimmy was injured. Kuminga could not close out games either. We act like he was carrying the team.. At times Moody was doing the same thing then. Or Podz. Dray wasn't playing exceptionally great either. Blaming Jimmy that much just to make Kuminga sound better is wildly biased.
Kuminga will never be anything special at all, but shit like this is why Golden State will never ever be a contender again.
This is a CARTOONISHLY IGNORANT take. To the point of being low integrity. It's 100% a Kuminga propaganda video.
I'm a lifelong Warriors fan. JK has had 4 years of opportunity to show that he can play winning basketball on a winning team. You think he's the first player who had to come off the bench as a young player?
He's had LOTS of opportunities. More than most NBA players. What did he show? Extremely low BBall IQ. Weak handles. TERRIBLE decisionmaking. Weak shooting. Weak rebounding, especially for his athleticism. Inability to create off the dribble (seriously, he turns it over like 1/3rd of the time). Spurts of good on-ball defense, but always terrible team defense. And you can't trust him with the ball in late game situations.
Maybe y'all just don't watch Warriors games, but most Warriors fans do. He's been ass at ALL of those bball skills and he hasn't improved in 4 years. But also, the dude only cares about himself. He went outside of the building to criticize his head coach in the media. Maybe none of you have been on a team before, but that's usually grounds for being instantly fired. (A lot of people are immoral and say it's justified bc they don't care about the social contract of a team.)
JK might get better on a team that doesn't care that he sucks. I wish him the best. But we need to trade his ass and get a competent team player back for him.
Poole and Johnathan was the future..they dropped the ball and canāt blame nobody but themselves
Canāt compare Franz and Kuminga. Franz was given the opportunity and the minutes to grow.
The Warriors' offense is built around Curry, so it's no surprised the dropped all the games where he was out in that series against Minnesota. Still, I think it' makes a good case for his value to a team despite his many haters out there saying he's not all that. I remember all the buzz about how Dame was just as good or better than Steph. I just have to laugh.
Unless they get Sabonis, they better not trade him to the KINGS
it just sucks that moody realy dropped the ball, he choked on playoffs
Warriors trading kiminga for josh giddy lmaaoo
refs gifted them win against rockets…
Really it all worked out coincidently but also planned.. when curry got hurt they realized they werenāt gonna go far, so Kerr out kuminga in and gave him the green light so he can bring up his value. I mean .. they say butler was hurt. While that is true, but butler was still hustling and making plays. But⦠not shooting the ball. Itās jimmy .. if ur able to get on the court the guys gonna shoot. This was Kerr plan when curry went down Fosho. Itās still blowing up in his face cause kuminga value not high till this day
They shut down trade talks, so JK has to sign the QO at this point. They have begged for other teams to bail them out, and when that failed, they offered him a 2 year deal where they send him to the Wizards the second year. Take your 10 minutes and 8 mil for a year and never look back at this dumpster fire.
I agree with this video. If Kuminga was actually worth his asking price, The Warriors would give it to him. You guys donāt see practices, the meetings, his health data. Thereās more to a player than what you see on the floor. But weāll see I donāt want to assume the warriors and him wonāt come to an agreement and itāll be all good from there.
Franz Wagner Career Minutes: 9389m
Kuminga Career Minutes: 5672m
Nearly twice the career minutes in the same amount of years, let's be serious here.
wym I swore it was weird tension when magic drafted Paolo then the conversation became who team it is? Also it took a WHILE before Franz became somewhat efficient. He didnāt come in with 3 hall of famers trying win a chip . And heās not worried about his payday bc the magic didnāt offer him what kuminga got offered from the warriors
Would be crazy if Giannis took a veteran minimum to win that season lol. It canāt happen, but imagine
The Minnesota Timberwolves went out of their way to injure our star players.
It was literally the dirtiest series I've ever watched in NBA history honestly and we still f**** won.
Minnesota Timberwolves we got your f**** number this year definitely.
Only hope for Kuminga and the Warriors is to fire Steve Kerr. Problem solved. Warriors with the current lineup without any moves will be top 3 seed. It's Kerr that is sand bagging this team since Mike Brown left. I'd like one of this YouTubers to dig deeper and look into how Steve Kerr messed this team up. Everyone so hung up how Kerr is a great coach 4 titles, Olympic gold medals etc but the truth is he is the right place, right time, right person guy that got so lucky… Now his luck has ran out and severely exposed his decision making, coaching..
Kuminga tripping….sign the 45 mil 2 year deal so they can trade you.
Draymond never dominated on both sides of the floor lmao
Everyone blaming Steve Kerr but it's clear JK wants a much bigger role in the offense and Curry doesn't want that to happen.
As soon as the Thunder realized they didn't want to pay Josh Giddey for the role best suited with their roster, they traded him so he could get an opportunity elsewhere. And they didn't demand a price they were unwilling to pay themselves.
The Warriors could've easily traded Jonathan Kuminga for a role player that addressed a need. Now they're in trouble.
If it's not too late, I would love (as a blazers fan) a sign and trade Kuminga for Grant – That would be perfect.
No one really wants kuminga. Just the suns and sac?! He has no leverage and betting on himself is a bad idea. His value to the Warriors is only affecting the post curry warriors. Meltin and horford are still coming no matter the kuminga outcome. He's the next Poole
Step I felt sorry for you if you don't get giannis! It's all for nothing!!
You see Draymond doesn't want you to trade for giannis because that's gonna put him out on the trading block! But you gotta do whatever you have to do! Trade him because he not going to help you win another championship!
Ok I stopped watching when you said Innings did better than Jimmy who literally fell on his lowerback tailbone and was still out there grinding Innings just wants to be a star but doesn't want to hustle or do the little things like whatever I feel those traits would help his career but I guess he feels that's beneath him or something because he thinks he's better than a role player
Kerr gives too much responsibility to Draymond…… Dray hasn't been a 2, 3, or 4 option since 2022. Kerr needs to be fired.
Kerr should have been fired Immediately after the Poole Punch Incident. That season was managed terribly and he spent it condoning and excusing away workplace violence…Lastly they've been a play in Team ever since. Side note: How many other coaches that have Won a Chip in the last 5 to 10 years have been fired in the last 5 seasons EVEN IF THEY RECENTLY won a chip, made it to or WON THIER CONFERENCE TITLES or Consistently been a top 5 team(NOT Play-In)??? Kerr has shown the entire NBA how much(Little he values) his young talent. By making excuses for the punch he told every Up and coming Star "I'm rolling with my vets, even if they are a KNOWN ASSHOLE AND INSTIGATOR LIKE DRAYMOND HAS BEEN HIS ENTIRE TENURE with the Warriors…then they made it worse by slandering Poole after the trade to Washington and made it look like he was the one with the Mouth and Poor Attitude….(How Many Techs, Ejections, Suspensions has Draymond had Before and After Poole got traded???? and Poole was the problem??? Didn't Draymond add to KD leaving? I Could write a book on Green's BS) Lastly w/Kerr and his vets, unless your name is Podz, Kerr has Stunted all his young talent, he will DNP his young athletic promising talent the second they make a mistake Curry, Draymond, Klay, make 15 times a game. There are compilations online of Curry's/Draymond's reckless passes, Klay's chucking shots his last 2 seasons (W/O a teammate w/in 10 feet of the rim to potentially get a rebound) and Draymond fouling out, Techs, Suspensions, intentionally trying to hurt the opponents, not getting back on defense b/c he didn't like the call a ref made or frustrated with a rookie's mistake. The Problem starts at the TOP, FIRE KERR IMMEDIATELY PS…If Kerr didn't have Curry to bail him out in the Olympics he would have found a way to loose just like he did in FIBA(DIDN'T EVEN PLACE – cuz Dillon Brooks is That Tough right???). (No way France should have even been that close – They had a rookie Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert…that's it and it took Curry Heroics to bring it home!!!) As a marine we are taught Failure begins AT THE TOP and Trickles down.
The warriors canāt Giannis. They will have to give up equal value and they donāt have the cap space
Kerr is the problem of the warriors thatās the reason why curry doesnāt have 6 rings
JK needs to go out of warriors to explore his talents, kerr gonna keep him down and he's gonna gain nothing
The Players Association needs to step in.
The Warriors future all lines up with Giannis at next seasonās end, giving Giannis one year or more with Steph, Jimmy, and JK. Steve Kerrās contract expires at the end of this season, while Steph, Jimmy, and Draymondās contracts expire in the next year. The Warriors are intentionally not doing anything thing this season and fully expects JK to return. It was Steve Kerr who blew up these plans thinking that they had a shot at the championship until Steph went down. The basketball gods want Giannis to be with Steph for ratings and fan support. Steph is welcomed in any arena. You add Giannis to the mix and you have sale out crowds. The only thing that can change this is Giannis himself. This can happen as early as mid-season if Giannis wants to. Unfortunately, no one knows what Giannis will do. But if it becomes clear that the Bucks will not make the playoffs by mid season, expect Giannis to pull the trigger.
Draymond green might be responsible for all this heās a min player he only has essentially 1 skill but every other player with one skill has to fight for thier spot he trash af constantly does things that lose games makes it personal every single game and boogie cousins is in piston rico š
Dude that was awesome!
one name….Mark Jackson.
iykyk
Steve Kerr was basically handed a built up team and culture built up by Mark Jackson. im a Warriors fan but fuck the Dubs for how they did Jackson.
warrior fan since steph joined the league
i would love to see him play in golden state!š GA & steph..šŖ
Nicely done. And the warriors are idiots – they see performance and dollars, and not personalities.. Of course, that has allowed Green to have a home too. But with respect to Kaminga, I think the other teams know what time it is.. and see no reason to give the warriors what they're asking for. Trade away the Kaminga.. and then figure out how to leave space for Giannis.
Yall pretend like Kuminga is actually a talent who fit gsw system. Stop the cap. He doesn't have the iq to operate in gsw. He might do well elsewhere. Not here. He doesn't have the game sense for it. 4 years and still unreliable. That should say more about kuminga than kerr not developing him.
Butler was hurt. JK would become toxic for whatever team he goes to
Kerr doesn't like Kuminga. They need to part ways.
