NBA LIVE! Los Angeles Lakers vs Los Angeles Clippers | August 11, 2025 | Lakers vs Clippers 2K25

Harland with Greg Anthony and Brent Barry. From the sideline, we’ll have David Aldridge. We’ll be hearing from him in just a moment, DA. Take it away. Well, thank you very much. Now, the NBA has accepted that this is an era of player movement. Commissioner Adam Silver says the data shows that superstars moving isn’t necessarily a bad thing because it allows situations to change. Teams that may not be in a competitive position hope that they can sign one of those players. And as we know, Kevin, hope springs eternal. It always does. It keeps the fans involved and looking for more. David, thanks. Now, let’s check out our starters for the Los Angeles Lakers. Hatchima out there with DeAndre Aton. Then there’s Donic. Then it’s LeBron James. And it’s Reeves in at the two guard spot. And for the Clippers, they’ve got John Collins. Bradley Beal is out there with Harden. Then it’s Izza Zubox. And it’s Leonard in at the three, the small forward. We are in for a treat in this matchup, Greg, with two conference rivals set to clash yet again. Yeah, we’re going to see some added effort and intensity. And and don’t be surprised if it gets a little chippy. Tip off goes to the Clippers. Now here’s Beal. Not a lot of room. Zubot kicks to Harden. Pass to Collins. Some nice ball movement by the Clippers. Clock at four. Here’s Leonard. And no good that time. James with some nice D over in the corner. Donic. No, good with a triple outside. Beal passes it to Leonard. Zubox trying to break loose and it’s Leonard that time on the assist from Be and Be finding a guy with a better look that time. Back to Dunic and he uses the glass on the layup. Just setting the tone with an aggressive move to the rag and and where’s the help defensively? Yeah, APB sent out to try to find out where the defense is. Inexcusable and you love seeing that great mobile one drive a second time. And that’s what a coach loves to see in a close game. Just put your head down and make something happen. Harden no good. The Lakers on offense. First quarter about a minute and a half. Half in back to Hatchima. LeBron James on the wing. They get it back and throws it down. Yeah, if Aton can get in that kind of position, he can be a bully on the inside. Pass to Leonard. Back to Harden. with the steel. Here’s Reeves. Pass to Donic. Passes to Reeves. Down to five on the shot clock. Out to Donic over Harden. And it’s Donic missing. Oh, can’t punish the defense for leaving him open that time. That’s a frustrating miss for a really steady jump shooter. And so James will bring it up for the Lakers. Well, James Harden still a tremendous player, but now in his early 30s, some question, can he be the dominant MVP force we saw in Houston and getting after it on the offensive glass and adding to that early total with the putback? Sometimes guys come in with a great mindset trying to push the action until somebody stops him. Nobody there to do it that time. Pass to Zubots. Collins against Hatchim misses and the dry spell continues. And Greg Harden in recent years dealing with hamstring injuries. Has he lost a step to age or injury? You know, probably a little of both. But we’ve seen players with a new diet or training regimen get back to peak production. Hopefully he can as well. The Clippers shooting their first free throws of the game. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. free throw good. James Harden and what’s incredible about Harden, he can dominate a game with the pass as much as the shot. So defensively, you have to prepare for both. Harden hits them both at this point. You might as well go ahead and chalk up the points when he’s at the free throw line. Pretty much automatic. The pass to Hatchima. Here’s Reeves. Here’s Donic. Eightton trying to break free and that one’s good. Donic and already in his career, Donic displays a remarkable amount of pro moves, including that floater right there. Now here’s Beal. He’s been patient so far. Nothing on the scoreboard yet. Pass to Leonard. Here’s Harden on the wing over Donic. Harden no good. Lakers leading by four. James in the post. Zubox defending field from long range and the Clippers miss again. Hatimura the pass to Donic. Now here’s LeBron and the rejection by Zubox. And that one goes out of bounds. Last touch by Zubox. Let’s take a second look at that fantastic block. And right out of the gate trying to set the tone defensively. You got to love that energy. Lock at six. And here’s James outside. Just such an elite defender with unreal instincts. Kawi Leonard consistent at locking up whoever it is he’s guarding. Back to Beal. Three-pointer. That’s a miss. His second after two shots. Shot by Collins. No good. And And typically he has the touch to finish when he’s in tight, but not sure on that possession. Here’s Reeds. He’s covered by Beal. Here’s Donic. And again, the Lakers no good. Clippers trail by four. Leonard with the ball. He’s picked up by Donic. Pass to Beal. Back to Leonard. They could use a bucket. A shot by Harden. Wide open. Hangs home the trifecta. Harden’s got five. You think about the growth of Kawi Leonard’s game where in the first few seasons had very few assists as a playmaker and now it’s a it’s a key part of his game. Bounce pass Hatchima over Collins and that’ll be the Lakers as it goes out of bounds. Lakers retain possession. Ball checked in for the Clippers and the Lakers also making a change. Hazy’s checked in for Hetime Murray. Here’s Reeves. An absolute pal from three-point range. A playmaker of Donett’s talents wasn’t missing that gap. He quickly gets the ball to the wide open man. For the Clippers organization, GA, what do you think the goal is? Well, it it’s clear to me, Kevin, get to the NBA finals. The Clippers have never made it there, and I think a trip to the finals is within reach of this group. They just need to stay healthy. Now, here’s LeBron. Kawi Leonard unable to get his got to go and he gets the bucket. He’s got six. Well, again, with that kind of size, DeAndre Aton is going to draw some fouls and does not shy away from contact. And the Clippers decide to take their first time out here after being selected first overall in the 2018 draft. Some teams question if DeAndre Aton was worthy of that. Well, it took time for Eightton to find his comfort zone and all of a sudden became a key piece that nobody’s questioning much anymore as an inside rebounder, rim protector, and a guy who can score at a high level when asked to. Heat. Heat. And the Clippers making a change here. Lopez has checked in. Smarts checked in for the Lakers. Here is Harden. He has five outside. Leonard pass to Paul. Harden outside just fine to shoot. He doesn’t hit that one. So the Lakers will take it the other way. There’s the feed to Smart. It’s rebounded by Paul. And so it’s Paul bringing it up for the Los Angeles Clippers. Six-point game. The quick look no good that time. Nobody getting a hand in his face in that painted area. That’s a miss he’s going to be disappointed with. And with good length and athleticism, Donic not only gets to the rim, but boy can he finish. Here’s Harden after Luc’s bucket. Harden finds Lopez to halt the run. Good. It’s Harden with the assist that time. Well, he’s too good a finisher to blow that kind of chance, but that’s going to be a wakeup call to the defense. Smart passes to Donic. Back to Smart. Jacks up a three. Doesn’t get it to drop for him. The Clippers go the other way with it. Here’s Paul. That one’s in. His first bucket of the game. He’s one for two. Well, he’s such a good scorer when he gets inside that painted area. One of the games best mid-range players that we’ve ever seen. Chris Paul getting it done. Now, here’s LeBron still looking for his first bucket. This one. And when you can’t get anything to fall, it definitely gets in your head. especially if you’re a player that doesn’t get a lot of shot attempts, but otherwise the mindset is I just got to get the next one to go and you don’t want to put that much pressure on yourself. And Marcus Smart Ga, the very definition of a guy you love on your team but hate to play against. Yeah. And teams that go deep need that sort of presence. Smart is more than just an agitator though. Great player who anyone would want to play alongside. The first free throw is good. And some of what Smart gives this team doesn’t always show up in the stat sheet, but but he makes plays that help you win. Here’s what the Clippers are going with right now. Jones comes in for Izza Zubox and it’s Bogdan Boddanovich in for James Harden. So he picks up just one from the line that time. Brent, when we talk about the evolution of basketball, Brook Lopez is a great example. Well, this is one of the more headscratching, remarkable, complimentary things that you could say about Brook Lopez. the fact that he did not make a three-pointer until his seventh season in the NBA, but added that long range to his game to become a stretch five and a valuable piece to the Bucks 2021 title run. An amazing career arc for one Brook Lopez. Now here’s Leonard. He kicks it to Jones and there’s the pass to Paul. Now here’s Lopez. Danovich looking around. It’s rebounded by Hayes. Lakers leading by five. James left side. Here’s Aton shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. Big man you don’t want to send to the line. DeAndre Aton’s free throw capabilities keep him on the floor at all times. The Lakers have gone one for two on the night so far from the line and they shot their free throws at a measly 73% clip over the course of last season. That free throw no good. And Aiden with that efficiency just becomes an outstanding option for what you do offensively. and he sinks the second. Here’s Paul. They need a good offensive possession. Yeah, they’ve gone a long time without a bucket. Jones the pass to Leonard. Tipped away and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. That’s on LeBron James. And with the 15th pick in the 2011 draft, Kawi Leonard wasn’t highly touted coming out of high school or college. Listen, even in the pros, recognition took a while. How about this? He won finals MVP and defensive player of the year before he ever made an All-Star team. Now, one of the 75 great two shots. a free throw good from Kawi Leonard. Amazing the way Kawhi Leonard has evolved throughout his career. Well, in the early part of his career playing in San Antonio, defense was his calling card. And you could even argue that his offense has gotten better than his defense, which is simply remarkable. one of the top all-around players in the NBA. Both free throws good from Kawhi Leonard. A guy who keeps to himself quite a bit. Kawi Leonard more tries to lead by example and holds himself to the highest standards on the floor. Now here’s Smart. James outside puts up a three. The Lakers rebound and Hayes kicks to LeBron. Another shot. Throws up again. The shots good from Hayes. Hard work on the offensive glass. You can see the coaching staff rise up and clap for that effort. Back to Paul outside. Bdanovich hands it from downtown. Trying to improve every year. That’s the goal of anyone in the NBA. Bogdanovich has great fundamentals to be able to do that. Now here’s LeBron still getting warmed up offensively. No scoring yet from him. Vanderbilt the pass to Smart. Shoots over Leonard. Out to Dunic. LeBron outside, puts up a three. The Clippers grab the miss. He just doesn’t look like himself this quarter. Something’s missing. Well, he’s missing and it’s starting to affect a little bit in his body language and you just don’t want to see that. Now, here’s Paulovich. That’s for two. And a great assist by Paul as that one goes in. And now just a a one-point Laker lead. James in the post working on Jones. Floats it up for James. Lopez with the steel from deep three-point range. No good on the last second attempt there at the end of one. A closely contested game so far. Lakers lead by one and the second quarter will be on the way when we come back and we hope you’re enjoying the game. Both teams tonight keeping things pretty even so far in the scoreboard. And let’s quickly break down the game we’ve seen from the Lakers here so far, guys. Well, one way to generate more more offense, pound the offensive glass. That was the difference in the first. Keep plays alive with your activity. That’s what it’s about. The Lakers in the lead. So for the Lakers right now, we’ve got Hatchima. He’s out there with Jared Vanderbilt. Then it’s Vincent and it’s Reeves in at the two. Here’s Vincent. It’s hauled in by the Clippers. Zubox has got his fifth rebound right now in the game. Feeds to Harden. Right side. Baganovich. Harden surveying the D. They get it again and foul on the shot. So he’ll get a chance at the line. Just staying aggressive right now. John Collins putting some tremendous pressure on the defense. And Collins has shown to be a gamecher on the floor. The problem for him has been staying on the floor. Has fought the injury bug his whole career. Take a break. Take a break. Two seconds. ties it up and this next one could give them the lead. For Collins, he has yet to play close to a full slate of games, Greg, in a single season. Collins has missed time in each season he’s played. He he’s young enough a few years of good injury fortune can change the narrative and let’s just hope that’s the case for his sake. Pass to Reeves. Lakers passing it around. Now here’s Hayes. Zubat’s defending. Six to shoot. Here’s Vincent. It’s hauled in by Dunn. That’s a shot they want just about on every possession if they can get it. He doesn’t make them all, but still very much a high percentage look. And for the Lakers, they’re shooting a pretty sorry 29% from the floor here. Here’s Vincent. Nothing yet on the scoreboard for him. Passes it to Vanderbilt. 18 ft out. Can’t get it to fall. He’s missed the second after making his first. To the middle. Here’s Zubots and he gets the basket. officials blowing the whistle. So, a chance at the line for one more. Got to have good court awareness and it was on display right there from Bogdanovic. You know, you appreciate Zubat’s focus on close-range looks as a big man. Well, Zubat’s one of those big centers that’s burly and tough and rugged on the inside. And while other bigs are searching that three-point line out, Zubat’s looking to get deep into the paint. You look at his shooting percentages over the past couple seasons up around 60%. That’s good shot selection and great consistency and different games, different officials. Something that might be called a foul in one game, Greg, may not be called in the next. As a player, how do you adjust to that? It’s a great question, and that’s part of being a veteran. I learned early on, you actually scout officials the same way you scout the players. They have tendencies as well. That shot wide open. Vincent’s got his first three points of the game. Well, Hachimura, not known as a playmaker, but unselfish play. That is part of his game. And the call will be against Gabe Vincent. That’s his first foul. And still early in the period. And they’re only one foul away from being over the limit. We’re now about two minutes into the second quarter. In the corner, Harden and he lobbs it up toward the rim and the dunk by Zubots. And arguably no one in the NBA draws more attention than Harden. Part of why that he creates so many opportunities for others. Here’s Hatchima. Off the mark there with a three-point shot. Clippers leading by three. Here’s the floater and Harden lays it in. Harden’s got seven. And you talk about the best ball handlers in the league. Don’t forget about James Harden. And the Lakers decide to take their first timeout here. And they just can’t seem to get going offensively. Yeah, they’re like a four-day old soda right now. Just flat. They’re missing shots left and right and just not playing their best. Heat. Heat. Heat Lakers trail by five with a short break in the action. Gives us a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge. Thanks very much. Now, some people call John Collins John the Baptist for how he dunks over defenders. He says, “The game is slowing down for me. I’m able to see my spots. I want to continue to build on that and be looked at as a pillar, a guy that can be counted upon.” Kevin, it seems he’s hungry for more. Back to you. He’s a big time dunker, that’s for sure. Looking to reach his full potential. David, thanks. Here’s Hatchima. James Harden picking up that last basket. Hatchima against Bugdanovich trying to get open is Hatchima. Vanderbilt misses here now of the Clippers. They’re on an 11 for three run. Can’t get it to fall. Lakers trail by seven. Here’s Hatchima and the dunk by Vanderbilt. And that’s a huge play. I mean, they need more like it because second chance points are going to be key in this game. Mhm. Probably. So, that’s usually a crucial element to any comeback. Now, here’s Bonanovic. Five points in the game. Collins. That one. No good. Some solid defense from with it. Zubat’s defending pass to Reeves and Aton throws it down. And Aiden just up over the top at his size to throw that one down. 10 outside. Shot clock at six. And here’s Vdanovich for three. The Lakers with the rebound. Vanderbilt’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Hatchima no good. Clippers leading by three. Greg, here’s a classic NBA question. Who’s been the best franchise in league history? Celtics or the Lakers? Come on, Kevin. You are putting me on the spot. But I’d go with the Lakers. More superstars over the years. I think that 2000’s run with Kobe and company that put them ahead in my estimation. And since 1999, the Clippers and Lakers have shared their downtown LA Arena. The only NBA teams to split a venue, but that’s going to change soon. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. No good on that one. The Clippers broke ground on their new arena set to open in Englewood in 2024. I I’ve seen the footprint. You fly right into LAX and you see it every time. It’s going to be beautiful. And that’ll be huge for the Clips. They’re trying to create their own identity in Southern California. Having a venue just for the Clippers will help. Lakers trail by four. The pass to Reeves. The pass to Vincent off target with his three. Clippers have gone 4-10 in the second quarter from the field. Inside Collins and finished off by Collins. Like it when Collins is cleaning up the glass and then just rocking the rim. Guys are looking for a spark here. Yeah, a cold stretch offensively for sure. out to the right wing and the call on the shot that sends him to the line. So, I tell you what, he earned his money on that foul. The Lakers have split their free throws right down the middle so far. They’re two for two. That free throw missing. Kawhi Leonard is checked in for Bogdanovich. And the Lakers also making a switch. James has checked in. and the second free throw. Good. Clippers leading by five. Harden outside. Leonard the vast to Collins. Back to Leonard. Latin rebounded by the Lakers. And you don’t want to give up that kind of look too often. And he gets it to go. Just powering to his shot that time. LeBron being assertive. Harden outside. Oh, and they get in the way of the alley. Not to be. Good play defensively. And two free throws coming up. unable to get that one to go with all the content. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. 84% that that’s what he was able to convert on a season ago from the line. And he makes the first. Beal’s checked in for the Clippers. And the Lakers also making a switch. Ukadonic. He’s checked in for Vincent. Second free throw, no good. And it’s Leonard with the ball. He’ll bring it up for the Los Angeles Clippers. James against Beal. Leonard on the wing. The 17-footer goes down. Leonard’s got six. Why Leonard keeping the game very simple and just taking what the defense is gifting him. Fires for three. And they get it back. The Lakers get it back in a new 14. Hatchima no good. Clippers leading by four. Beal with it. He’s been patient so far. Nothing on the scoreboard yet. Takes the 13-footer. Second chance shot and Zubox puts it in. And that’s a lesson for the D. Fight harder on the glass. Yeah, you just can’t afford to give up second chance opportunities again and again. Now here’s Donic. Six points for him. Right wing. Shot clock at five. Here’s Reeds. And again, the Lakers no good. The Clippers have gone seven to 15 from the field here in the second quarter. Just under 50% shooting. Outside Beal pass to Leonard. Now here’s Collins. He’s covered by Eightton. Here’s Leonard and James pulls it down. LeBron’s got his seventh rebound of the game. Came with that last one. Trying to go for an alley, but excellent defense and anticipation there to stop it. And here’s Pardon for three. Offensive rebound. Yeah, just a fantastic job to stay with the play and just not give up. Excellent effort on the offensive back wall. Eighton the pass to Reeves over Beal. Reeves can’t hit. Clippers leading by eight. And here’s Harden. Nine points in the game so far. And stolen by LeBron. Here’s Reeves. He’s covered by Beal to end the cold streak. Tries again. Misses at the rim. And he gets a lot of points right there at the rim. But the defense determined not to give up the easy deuce there. Lakers trail by eight. They’ve been looking out of sync offensively. Yeah, that their offense has ground to a standstill. Just shake your head at the size of LeBron James and once he gets into the paint and gets pinalled around, gets that contact and finds free throws. The Lakers have it four of eight from the free throw line. So far, folks, that’s 50%. Not great work there. free throw. Good. James and LeBron James for all the things that he does on the floor in terms of his skill set, there’s a quality of leadership that becomes the X factor and gives teams confidence that they’re going to have a chance to win an NBA title. Brook Lopez’s checked in for the Clippers. Paul comes in for James Harden and both free throws good for James. Clippers leading by six. Outside Leonard Al Lopez outside Beal shoots here. Zubox good for the fifth time in five shots. He remains perfect. I mean the number of points they’ve scored in the paint already here is eyeopening. Smart passes to Donic. Smart up top. He’s covered by Deal down low. Leonard with the steal. That’s good from Paul on the edges from Leonard. Paul’s got his second bucket. And breaking down some numbers here of the hustle stats for the Clippers. Right off the bat, they’re going after the ball, looking to jump into the passing lanes and create some steals in transition. Well, they really cashed in on the break. I mean, it feels like they’re hungry to get out. They’re hungry to run and they’re not passing up any chances to leak out and score. Outside Beal Leonard with no one around his three-pointer off the mark. And so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers trailing by 10. Controls the rebound and puts it back up and in. And those second chance points really become almost like bonus points when you can get them. Now here’s Leonard. He has six. dishes it to Lopez. Oh, went in there and tried to power it down, but Drew contact. He’ll head to the line. Now, we’ve seen Lopez be more and more assertive in looking for his shot, which in turns draws the defense’s attention to him. The Clippers have knocked down eight of nine free throw attempts. I’d say those numbers read pretty well. Yeah. And 79% from the line as a team a season ago. Pretty reliable in that regard. First one falls for now. Big and bad and reliable. Those are three great traits that Brook Lopez brings to the table. He hits one and misses one each at the line. Lakers trail by nine. Donic looking it over. That one a little long. I guess even he has to miss one of those once in a while. Leonard against James. Zubox trying to break loose and a missed layup. And so we conclude the first half. The Clippers on top up nine. And a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge standing by Corsaw. David the Lakers 34. Thanks, Kevin. Kawawaii, you have grown so much offensively throughout your career. What’s the focus of that end of the floor? Uh, you know, just knocking out open shots, uh, my ball handling, making good decisions, off the pick and roll, and just try to limit my turnovers. And you’ve done well so far, Kawawaii. Thanks. Back to you, Kevin. Thank you, David. And we’ll be right back after halftime to start the third quarter. See you in just a bit. And now, the 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hey again everybody. I’m Ernie Johnson. Shaq is here. Kenny’s here. You’re watching the NBA halftime show on 2K Sports. A pretty close game for the Clippers throughout the first quarter. And having been behind by as many as eight, they clawed their way back. They ended the second with a solid nine-point lead. A nice show of force by them. And let us get your thoughts, big fella, on the Clippers. They’ve come out determined to push the pace up offense, getting the ball up court as quickly as possible. advantage in transition points has been the major difference in this game. And Kenny, let’s get your thoughts on the Lakers. Ice cold, frigid from beyond the arc. The question is now, can they shake it off and get back in the groove? Another option is compensate by going to the rim. That’s all for now. Say goodbye to the folks. Thanks for joining us. Third quarter just about ready to begin. And we’ve got third quarter of basketball for you. Two quarters in the books. You’ve got to like what I Zubatz has done in this game. Well, it didn’t take him long to get that double double. Already has it halfway through the game. Yeah, guys like him love to stuff the stat sheet. He’s doing it here. Here’s Donich. They’ve got Bradley Beal. Collins is out there with Kawhi Leonard. Then it’s IT Zubox and it’s Harden and at the point. That’s who’s out there for the Clippers. The skills growing maybe right in front of our eyes here for DeAndre Aton. Oh, what an impressive dribble drive. That replay brought to you by Mobile One. There is no letup in this man. He is doing everything in his power to keep this game close. Back to Harden kicks it to Beachi Murray grabs the miss. Hatchim’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. And it’s LeBron missing. Yeah, it’s another just bad decision on a night full of those. His shot selection tonight has been questionable at best. Here’s Beal. Here’s Zubat. Yes, once again, it remains perfect. Six attempts and six hits. It’s a great move and he catches the defense completely off guard. Well, just ripping through right there as he he finds the open spot and gets right through there. High basketball IQ play. Now here is Hugh. He’s gotten some minutes but nothing the board yet inside and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. Rui Himura picks one up. How about that? John Collins with some footwork down low. that looked like it’s been practiced in the off season. And guys, how about the different ways John Collins can score on you? Well, John Collins can bully you on the inside or he can spot up and shoot a little bit from the three-point line. So, that ability to stretch the floor makes him one of the harder forwards to have to contend with. And the first one at the line is good. Watch Collins night in and night out. And when he’s fully engaged, there’s some ferocity behind his play. That one falls. So he hits both of them. Lakers trail by 11. They could use a big shot here to get this offense going. Too many empty possessions right now. They need the basket. Leonard looking around. Here’s Harden on the wing. That’s good. And it’s Leonard with the assist. Leonard’s got three assists now in this one. Well, Harden is the right option here. He has zero hesitation as a shooter. Now here’s LeBron. Lock at six. The Lakers need to get a shot off here. The three for Dunic. Clippers leading by 13. outside Leonard. He kicks it to Be lets the free fly. Harden can’t hit. And he didn’t punish them for the weak coverage there, but they can’t count on him to continue missing. And Harden will bring it up for the Clippers. This is the most they’ve led by at 13 points. And contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. and just so difficult to guard the beard without fouling. Harden is constantly seeking out contact. This is his second trip to the free throw line. And worth mentioning, guys, the free throw percentage he brought in from last season, how about 88%. Two shots. And he knocks down the first one. And both free throws good for James Harden. Lakers trail by 15. And the Lakers call time here. You got to like what Harden has done in this game so far. Yeah, the defense has not provided any threat to stop him out there. So, it should come to no surprise that he continues to attack the basket. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Second half of play and we’re three minutes into the third here. Reeves the pass to Hatchima. Here’s Reeves. He’s covered by Beal. Six to shoot. looking to end the run. Second chance effort shooting foul and as the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. Adley Beal picks one up. Intensity from Aton consistently finding different ways to get at the defense and make them overcommit. Shoot two. Free throw drops for Eaton. Eightton hits them both. Clippers leading by 13. Outside Leonard. Harden the pass to be. Here’s the three rebound. The Lakers James has got double digit rebound. Now in the game, Donic. The shot misses and the Clippers will come the other way. And Leonard gets it to go on the assist from Harden. Harden’s got three assists in the game. To the middle. Here’s Hatchima. Collins with some nice D on offense. Here are the Clippers. They’ve outscored him 10 points to two during this run. And the shot is good. Leonard’s got 10. Once Leonard gets some wiggle room down there with his broad shoulders, he figures out how to execute and knock it down. Now here’s Donic. He’s got six. Here’s Reeves. He’s covered by Beal. Reeves gets the bucket and despite the size disadvantage, attacking the heart of that defense. Yeah, no stopping him on that play. Sometimes even the taller defenders are helpless to stop him. Here’s Harden. 13 points in the game. Be that’s for two. Rebounded by DeAndre Eaton. That’s exactly how you have to defend him. He’s a guy that the D needs to be aware of at all times. And so it’s Leonard with it. He’ll bring it up for the Los Angeles Clippers. Their defense has only allowed six points in the second half. The three from Harden. It’s hauled in by LeBron. James has got 11 rebounds in the game. Reeves can’t hit. Here’s the Clippers. They’re on a 12 to4 run right now. Back to Beal. Zubots against Aidton. Just five on the clock. Here’s Zubots. And again, no good by the Clippers. Lakers trail by 15. James outside. Passes it to Reeves. Hatchima down low. He’s guarded by Collins. Smart accurate passes, Greg, are really paying off for them at the moment. And also good offball movement. Everyone is paying attention and looking to create the best shot for the team. Now here’s Leonard. 10 points for him. Over LeBron and it’s Aton with the rebound. Eightton’s got 12 rebounds here tonight. Big time effort. Reeves can’t hit. Clippers leading by 15. Harden up top. 13 points in the game. Pass to Collins. Some nice ball movement by the Clippers. And the pass to Harden and Zubox picks up the foul. That’s foul number two for him. A different look for the Clippers. Derek Jones comes in for IT Zubox and it’s done in for be. The Lakers also making some changes. Jackson A’s. He’s checked in for Aton. Vanderbilt comes in for Ruie Hatchima. And it’s Dave Vincent in for Donic. And the Lakers call time here. Trying to snap them out of this little slump. Well, they can’t find the net right now. And all they need, I think, is just to get one to go, get back on track. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And the Clippers making a switch here. Lopez is checked in. to the paint. Reeves the pass to Vanderbilt. James outside looking to get it going and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. The pressure LeBron is putting on the defense possession after possession is just a testament to his extreme talent. but also his endurance. I mean, his conditioning year in and year out is amazing. Shooting two free throw good. LeBron and the Lakers making a change here. Smarts checked in. He hits both from the strike. Clippers leading by 13. Harden outside. Jones against James. Back to Harden. Can they get it? Nailed from three-point land. Harden’s got seven now in this quarter. Anzo James will bring it up for the Lakers. Pass to Hayes in the corner. Smart with it. Five on the clock and he’s going up for the alley hoop. Count it. Hayes has got six. Coaching staff would like some more shots from that range. Passes it to Jones. Now Lopez. Back to Jones. No good that time. Great D that time from LeBron. Here’s Vincent. Done covering and Jones sends it back. They get it back and that one drops for him. Clippers leading by 12. Outside Jones. Kickstart. Jones with the bounce pass. Pass to Dun over Vincent and it comes off the front of the rim. Lakers trail by 12. He tries for three. The shot by LeBron. No good. And it’s Leonard that time on the assist from Dunn. He’s got 12. Yeah, you can be as physical as you want with Kawhi Leonard. He just stays with it and is unshaken. Smart on the wing guarded by Harden. Here’s Hayes. Rebound by the Clippers. Harden’s got six rebounds here tonight. There’s the pass to Jones. He kicks to Lopez. Pass to Jones. That three off the mark. Lakers trail by 14. Some tough offensive sets. They want to turn it around. Yeah, right now you just need a bucket to get some momentum. You know, I love how he absorbs the foul and still had a chance to knock that one down. The Lakers have made 10 of their 14 tries at the free throw line in the game. Shoot two. That one is off. Bogdanovich, he’s checked in for the Clippers. Paul comes in for Dunk Aton. He’s checked in for the Lakers. and he’s good on the second. Clippers leading by 13. outside Banovich. Good ball movement here by the Clippers. Harden dishes to Jones. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Paul and that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. Well, Brent, Chris Paul is undoubtedly one of the smartest players in the NBA, and that’s why he’s been able to maintain such a high level of play for so long. As one of his teammates said, he has an IQ that’s going to keep him on the floor until he’s 50. First free throw is good. And we talk about the playmaking ability of CP3. Third alltime in career assist, second alltime in career assist percentage. And he looks far from done. And both free throws good from Paul. And Greg, what separates Paul from the other two guys that have more career assists is that Paul also averaged 18 points a game. And he scores with efficiency. Really a one-ofa-kind talent. When he finally does decide to hang him up, I think he’d make a great head coach as well. And here are the Clippers now after the basket by the Lakers. Odonovich finds Jones. The Lakers with the rebound. Eightton’s got 13 rebounds in the game. Class eat it. Here’s Vincent defended by Paul from 13 and no good as it rattles out. Clippers leading by 13. Harden the pass to Paul. Harden outside over Vanderbilt. And again, it’s the Clippers missing. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. Jones against Smart. Here’s Vincent. The shot that time not on target. Good D by Lopez. And Harden gets it to go in on the first from Vodkanovich. Harden’s got 18 points. And that’s a nice play. Harden sure knows how to use that body handling inside. Here’s Hayden Harden with the defensive effort and for the Clippers. They’re shooting Portland. Just 35% so far. Agonovich. No luck. Here’s LeBron and finished off by LeBron. just finding ways to get inside, get up and throw another one down. LeBron with an easy two. The 11-footer. The shot by Paul. No good. And so it’s the Los Angeles Clippers. 13 points up at the end of the period. Their defensive mindset clearly focused on clamping down on LeBron James and their game plan is working. We’ll get right back to the action when we return and a worthy candidate tonight as we take a look at our State Farm assist of the game. And he sliced the D wide open with this feed. They had no chance to prevent that basket. That’s what great passing will do for you right there. Dissecting the defense with that play. And we reach the fourth quarter in a game that may be already out of hand. Taking a look at the Lakers, you’ve got Luca Donic. LeBron James is out there with Ruy Hachimura. Then it’s DeAndre Aton. And it’s Reeves in at the two guard. Now here’s James. Kawhi Leonard unable to get his shot to go. James in the post. Leonard’s there. Yep. It goes. And the Clipper lead is cut down now to just 11 on the basket from LeBron. I’m glad we got a chance to check out that fantastic drive one more time. It’s all about the ability to get two feet in the paint. Whether it’s creating for a teammate or for yourself. Now here’s Leonard from deep Harden and they recover it. Collins kicks to Harden. Kicks it out to Collins. The rebound by the Lakers and he rushed that one. No doubt about it. The D Allen’s position. You could see the frustration on his face. In college at Gonzaga, Ruie Hatchima is a finalist for the player of the year award. And not bad company that year, Kevin, alongside Zion Williamson and Jaw Morant. Probably one of the most talented fields for that award we’ve seen in a long time. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That free throw no good. Hachimura being able to step out and shoot threes. That’s huge for his development. Be check in for Paul. Good on the second free throw. About a minute played here in the fourth quarter. Outside Beal outside Leonard back to Beal. Five to shoot the high post shot. Got a piece of it to the inside. Aton he gets it to fall. That makes it just a single-digit lead. Such a tremendous physical profile that has. He’s getting it done down low outside. Be pass to Collins. Clippers moving the ball around here. Zubots hits the jump hook and the Clippers lead by 10. Well, with Leonard on the floor, the team’s always going to function a little bit better as a whole, and some of that comes from his unselfish play. Just great hands for Eightton to time that one. The Clippers have gone one of five from the field here in the fourth. A lot of misses, just the one make. Zubox finds Beal. Leonard with the ball. Pass to Harden. Six to shoot. And there’s the call. It’s going to be an illegal screen. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. Got to hold firm or you’re going to get a call. And looking at that replay again, just a big time block right there. And that has got to help the morale of this team. Let’s see if that sets up a run here. Lakers trail by eight. Inside and the dunk by Hatima. I’m not sure there’s a player in the game who sees the floor better than LeBron James. And the Clippers call time here. Hard to believe, Greg. Last season, LeBron missing the playoffs for just the third time in his career. And Kevin, it almost felt surreal to not have him in the playoffs. So, I mean, this guy’s been a fixture in the postseason for almost two decades now. Just another bullet on LeBron’s incredible resume. Heat. Heat. And while we’ve got a moment, let’s send it over to our terrific reporter, David Aldridge. David. Well, guys, over the break, I was able to listen to Terron L’s huddle. His demeanor was not one of a coach whose team was well ahead. He said, “This is the time to turn up the heat, make one final push, and try to close out strong.” See if they were listening, guys. All right, David. Thanks. Lakers trail by six. Harden against Donic. The pass to Reeves. Eighton kicks to Donic over Harden and it’s off the back rim. No good. The shot. No good. Nice D from Donic. Hatimura. The pass to Donic. Here’s Reeves. He’s covered by Beal. Lets it go from 11. It’s good. And the Clipper lead is cut down to just four points. And the bucket from Reeds. Well, they’re getting stops and they’re attacking on the offensive end. Yeah, coaching staff probably loves this. Just grinding out defensive possessions, which is helping them get back into their offensive flow. Now, here’s Leonard. Pass to Beal for three. The shot no good. And it’s the Lakers the other way. Outside looking for Aiden. He gets it in there. Throws down the alleyoop slam. Well, they left it until the fourth quarter, but finally the run they needed to get back into this one. Finally got themselves in the trenches. Momentum completely shifted. Now we’ve got a tight one here in the final period. Now here’s Beal popped up there for Collins. Oh, a nice defensive play to disrupt the alleyoop down low. James kicks to Hatchima to tie it up and he sinks the layup. Hatchima’s got five points now in the quarter and Hachimura just strong doing what it took to get that one off and stolen by James to the paint. Here’s Eightton. And Aton throws it down. That’s a stomach punch, guys. Turn it over and give him a free run to the bucket. Oh, you’re so right. No question. Who has the momentum now? Execution with pace. That’s a bad turnover that simply was telegraphed. But a D really getting away with one there. No one on him. And that’s going to be good nine out of 10 times. And they get it back. And the level of concentration that Donic has, even under pressure, this guy is cool as a cucumber. Now here’s Leonard. Back to Harden to stop the run. Rebounded by DeAndre. Lakers leading by four. Donic against Harden. Here’s Hatton Collins with some nice deep. And this is what dominating the glass looks like. He just cannot be contained. Sort of reminding me of a little Ben Wallace action here from his years with the Pistons. He’s been that much of a force rebounding the ball. Yeah, nothing too fancy. Just getting the job done when they need to make every possession count. Here’s James. And a good offensive board and he gets the bucket. And LeBron, even at this age, still with his size, such a force, guys, they’re looking for a way to score here. Yeah, they’ve had a tough time taking the lid off. Collins kicks to Be. Good ball movement here by the Clippers. Just five to shoot. Here’s Zubots. goes back up and the layup is up and in. Zubox has got 19 points. Just a grinder. Always doing the dirty work on the offensive glass and that’s one of the things he brings to the table. From deep James and again LeBron missing and so it’s Harden bringing it up for the Los Angeles Clippers. A two-point game. Well, after an impressive first half, he’s just not been able to get the room or get anything going here in the second. Now, here is Hetchimemer. Stolen by Harden left side. Beal to tie it up. It’s rebounded by Donic. Donic has got his fifth rebound right now in the game. Here’s Eaton. The shot’s good on the assist by Donuch. Donic has got five assists in the game and the Clippers have possession trailing by four. Back to Beal had a hand on it and it’s the Lakers on the break. Reeves can’t hit the Clippers shooting only 31% throughout. Offense really struggling to put possessions together. Leonard no luck. Well, the fact that he has that many rebounds for a guy of his size and stature shows you he truly cares about grabbing possessions off the rim. Well, he’s been doing it all night. Why not go back to him? Yeah, he’s feeling it. Keep feeding him until he misses. Now here’s Beal. Back to Leonard. Here’s Collins. Lakers with the rebound. LeBron’s got rebound number 15 here tonight. Donic. Beautiful dish. And the layup goes down. Donic has got the lead up to eight now for the Lakers. Outside Beal. Passes to Leonard. And again, it’s the Clippers missing. The Lakers shooting a pretty low 34% thus far. James looking around as to Reeds. A chance there to push it to double digits, but it’s off the mark to the middle. Here’s Collins. Good. And it’s eight points for John Collins. Don’t want to give up that kind of position to Collins at that kind of length. I think he’s going to do some damage. James the pass to Aton. Here’s Reeves. Nice move. Contact on the shot. And now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. Well, that that’s one way he can finish, but far from the only way he gets it done. He’s got all kinds of tricks up his sleeve. And now we’ll get a perspective here on how the hustle game has been going for the Lakers. Guys, they’ve done everything they can in this one to just dominate that backboard offensively and keeping control of the ball and then converting. Well, something else that has stood out is their uptempo offense. These guys have been on the track all game long. They’re creating high percentage looks getting out there on the fast break. Clippers trail by nine. They need a bucket in a big way here to regain some confidence. Here’s Leonard. Great D on that shot and it’s off the mark down low. Finished off the break. Hachimura’s got seven points for the quarter. And you can see the agility from Ruie Hachamura. Fantastic job just getting out and converting. Here’s Leonard. Head shot off. Great D that time for LeBron. Here’s Reeves. He’s covered by Be Reeves can’t hit. Here’s Leonard driving to the basket. as so little can be done to stop that. Leonard with the jets to scream down the lane, then toss it off with the thunder finish. Here’s Reeves. James has a two-pointer. The rebound by Harden. Well, he finds some space in that in between gap there. Too bad he can’t release that one on target. Leonard They grabbed their own miss. Here’s the Lakers with the ball. Nice ball movement there by the Lakers. Reeves the pass to Donic and they pick up two and the Lakers lead by 11. And they came in determined to take this one. It’s going to be a happy flight home. Yeah, when you step into an opposing team’s arena and you can play with this type of composure, boy, that food tastes good on the way out of town. And folks, he did not look into that one. He knew just where he wanted to be to grab that backward. Here’s Reeves. He’s covered by Beal. Here’s Reeves.
