San Antonio Spurs Reload Roster! The Scariest Team of the NBA Season!
Welcome to NBA Hoops, where legends are made, rivalries ignite, and every buzzer beater writes history. Step into the heart of the game. This is more than basketball. This is NBA hoops. But guys, let’s turn our attention to the San Antonio Spurs, hoping to take the next step towards a championship next season. But how close are they to getting there? It’s great. I think I love this fit for the Spurs because you add a guy that you can either bring off the bench, you can start him, you can play him behind Wimby, you can play him with Wimby. You know, he comes from a winning program. That’s one of the things you always love to do is add guys with winning championship winning characteristics. Luke had a great experience with uh with the Celtics. I coached against him uh when he was in college at at Vanderbilt. But I just think his positive energy, your team first guy, a big that can spread and stretch the floor, you know, someone who knows how to communicate well on defense with this young Spurs team. Uh losing a Chris Paul who obviously had a tremendous amount of experience. Now you’re adding another, you know, somewhat in in between veteran guy coming from a championship program. I think he’s gonna fit nicely with the Spurs. Yeah, coach, I agree. And you hit the nail right on the head. You know, talk about a cerebral player. Uh it kind of reminds me of what a Joe Walsh may end up being like in his career. Uh if he can follow with Luke Carnett having the time to sit behind some guys and learn in a winning situation. He brings championship DNA. You mentioned he played in Vanderbilt. So again, as I said before, very smart player, has great hands, great feet, can guard ball screens. You saw in that Knicks series what he was doing at a very high level, what this guy is capable of doing, uh, if he gets an opportunity, and now you’re going to join Wimby and Wimby, and I love Wimby and I, you know, again, he’s a generational talent, but he loves playing on the perimeter. So I can see him hovering around, shooting threes. uh not that he’s not a physical player because his length precludes him from not having to be too physical, but you now bring another option in if he sits or you can move him around a little bit and you have a formidable force inside in cornet. I think that’s a great addition as you mentioned to this young athletic team and with De’Arren Fox as well and Dylan Harper who they drafted, this team is is is going to be scary. It’s just the only unfortunate thing is they’re just in a loaded west. But they definitely helped themselves uh by bringing in Luke Cornette for sure. Yeah, Luke Cornett’s going to help. You also have this year’s draft pieces that are expected to be contributors as well. They both uh or they settled on Dylan Harper and Carter Bryan in the draft this year. Chris, I know we’ve heard a lot about Harper and his outlook and you know how he’s going to fit in with this team. We’re going to see him play in summer league tonight, but when it comes to this rookie duo, how do you see them leaving their mark on this team? Listen, I I really really love uh the draft picks. Dylan Harper’s again, I think as much as they talk about Cooper Flag. This kid has a chance to be a generational player as well, that’s how really good I believe this guy is. And then now you talk about Carter Bryan. I mean, I’m a a new father who who uses sign language with my daughter. So, I fell in love with him right away. uh given his uh if you read you read up on his story uh with his mom and using sign language and all that I think it’s just a tremendous backstory but this kid I felt at Alabama was one of those guys that falls short and coach you definitely can speak to this 18 freshman or guys who have been in the NBA have been in college one year or that’s the most ever Carter Bryant was not the most productive player on his college team but I’m telling you he is the most explosive he is the guy that You just look at similar and I’m not saying he’s Jordan, but you similar. You look at that North Carolina team where they got Sam Perkins and they got James Worthy and everyone’s like, “But who is that number 23 kid?” That’s what Carter Bryant has an opportunity to be with the Spurs. The question is, can he get ahead of Devin Bell and Kell Johnson and some of those athletic wings that they have uh and get some playing time? But I think the kid ceiling is extremely high and Dylan Harper I think can be a similar to a Shay Gilders Alexander given the opportunity even though they’re young. The Spurs are loaded. Avery ladies and gentlemen buckle up because the San Antonio Spurs are no longer the NBA’s sleeping giant. They’re waking up and the league should be terrified. For years they’ve been written off, dismissed as a franchise stuck in the shadow of their glory days. But now, now they’re building something monstrous. A team poised to shatter expectations and storm the Western Conference. At the heart of it all is Victor Webbyama, a 7’4 unicorn who’s rewriting basketball’s rule book. But here’s the burning question. Can this young, hungry Spurs squad, armed with new faces and championship DNA, finally end their six-year playoff drought and make a legitimate run at the 2025 to 2026 NBA title? Or will the brutal Western Conference crush their dreams before they even take flight? Let’s dive into the chaos and find out. The Spurs are stacking talent like never before, but it all starts with one man, a generational freak, who’s changing the game. Let’s talk about Victor Webbyama’s meteoric rise. Victor Webbyama isn’t just a player, he’s a revolution. At just 21 years old, this 7’4 Frenchman is bending the laws of basketball physics last season. Despite a terrifying blood clot diagnosis that cut his all-star campaign short, WMBBY still posted monstrous numbers. 24, three points, 11 rebounds, and nearly four blocks per game. Pause for effect. That’s not just elite. That’s historic. He led the Spurs in every major stat, all while playing without a true point guard or consistent floor spacing. His efficiency unreal. Improved three-point shooting at 35% and a transition pull-up game that’s over 42% accurate. Defensively, he’s a nightmare. Opponents shot under 47% in the restricted area when he was on the floor compared to the league’s 68% average. That’s not rim protection. That’s rim annihilation. But here’s where it gets wild. Wembi didn’t just recover from his health scare. He transformed. He spent his off season in a Shaolin monastery in China, mastering kung fu, meditation, and body control. Dramatic pause, he added. 30 lb of muscle. Now a chiseled 245 lb without losing his guard-like agility. This isn’t just a comeback, it’s a declaration of war. With Kevin Garnett mentoring his mental edge, Webyama is ready to leap into the high 22nd, maybe even 30 points per game. While anchoring the Spurs defense like a fortress, but can one man, even a generational one, carry this team to a championship, ready to dominate, but no superstar wins alone? The Spurs have built a roster to unleash his full potential. Let’s break down the new blood fueling this championship chase. The Spurs aren’t just relying on Wem’s brilliance. They’ve assembled a squad that screams, “We’re here to win.” Now, first, let’s talk Dearron Fox. Traded from Sacramento in a blockbuster deal, this lightning fast guard is a gamecher. In just 17 games with the Spurs last season, Fox averaged 19, seven points, four, three rebounds, and six eight assists on 44 6% shooting. His speed collapses defenses, creating open looks for Wemby and shooters like Devin Vassel, who dropped 16 three points per game last year. Then there’s the rookie sensation Dylan Harper, the two pick in the 2025 draft. This Ruter star is a scoring machine rumored to be a shy Gilis Alexander level talent with his paint dominance and defensive versatility. And don’t sleep on Carter Bryant. The noway 14 pick. This Arizona freshman brings raw explosive potential, drawing comparisons to a young James Worthy. His backstory using sign language to connect with his mom adds heart to his hustle. But the real X factor, Luke Cornet, fresh from a championship run with the Celtics. Cornet’s cerebral play, floor spacing, and defensive IQ make him the perfect fit. At 7 foot1, he can back up Wimby or play alongside him. Stretching defenses with his shooting and locking down the paint. Sarcastic tone. Oh, and losing Chris Paul’s veteran presence. No problem. Cornet’s championship DNA fills that gap and then some. This core is young, athletic, and loaded with potential. But is it enough to compete in the West? This roster is a powder keg of talent. But the Western Conference is a bloodbath. Can the Spurs rise above the chaos? Let’s dissect their championship prospects. The Spurs are loaded, but let’s not kid ourselves. The Western Conference is a Gladiators arena with teams like the Nuggets, Mavericks, and Thunder stacked with MVPs and Allstars. The Spurs plus 6,000 odds to win the 2025 to 26 NBA Finals feel like a cruel reality check. Last season’s 34 to 48 record, even with Wemby’s heroics, left them as the West’s 13th seed. The loss of Greg Papovic as head coach after 29 years is a seismic shift. Mitch Johnson’s got big shoes to fill. Yet, there’s hope. The Spurs draft hall Dylan Harper, Carter Bryant, and a treasure trove of eight firstround picks through 2031 gives them flexibility to either develop or swing a blockbuster trade for a star like Kevin Durant or Giannis Anttokmpo. But here’s the brutal truth. The Spurs championship window is opening, but it’s not wide open yet. Weamama’s defensive impact, slashing opponent shot attempts and efficiency gives them a foundation. Pair that with Fox’s playmaking, Harper’s upside, and Cornet’s veteran savvy, and you’ve got a team that could sneak into the playoffs, dramatic pause, but a title that’s a long shot. Unless Webby ascends to MVP levels and the young core gels faster than anyone expects, the West is unforgiving and every game will be a war. Are the Spurs ready to shock the world or are they still a year away from true contention? The Spurs path to glory is fraught with danger. But their offseason moves signal ambition. Let’s wrap this up with a bold prediction for 2025 to 26. The San Antonio Spurs are no longer a rebuilding project. They’re a ticking time bomb ready to explode. Victor Webbyama’s evolution into a 30.4 block per game monster could redefine the NBA’s hierarchy. Dearan Fox’s speed, Dylan Harper’s potential, and Luke Cornett’s championship pedigree give this team a versatility that’s downright scary. Voice rises. They’ve got the assets, the talent, and the drive to end their playoff drought and make noise in the West. But the clock is ticking. The Western Conference won’t wait for them to grow up. Pause. My prediction. The Spurs finished 2025 to 26 with 45 wins, snag a playin spot, and give the league a taste of what’s coming. We will flirt with MVP votes, and this young core will prove they’re not just the future, they’re the now. Screaming San Antonio, are you ready to rise again? Let’s go.
