Daryl Morey on what VJ Edgecombe needs to IMPROVE 👀⚒️
you know, his ability to shoot on the move. We think his spot shooting is going to be uh pretty good uh out of the box. He showed that he’s been able to do that in multiple contexts. Shooting on the move is is one thing. I do think uh you know, his on ball type skills. I don’t know how many reps he’ll get with that. We have some other good onball players and Tyrese and uh Jared and if we can work things out with Quinton also very good on ball. So, but I do think, you know, coach Nurse loves to have versatile players who can operate both on and off ball. And, uh, just the two off the top, we do think, you know, he was having to play a lot of different uh, you know, defenses at Baylor primarily quite a bit of like zone and hybrid zone type stuff. So, uh, having him be, uh, better on screen navigation and things like that, I think is another, uh, area that I think he can improve.

What’s weird is the first time I saw VJ play was for Bahamas and only watched it because I saw VJ was projected as 2nd overall pick on the mock at the time, and he reminded me of a smarter, better shooting Andrew Wiggins at the time, a 6’6” uber athletic wing.
Then when I went to his profile he was listed as a 6’3/4” combo guard with inconsistent shot I was taken aback because it wasn’t what I saw in him.
He is atleast 6’5” and I do believe his shot is fine just needs more reps but I like his form, and I believe he can grow another inch just based on his build like his neck and shoulder don’t look done filling out.
