Lakers Rookie, Adou Thiero: “I Played Lacrosse for TWO DAYS”

What’s up, Laker Nation? Ad Theo here. Why not get to know me? What nicknames do you have? My teammates called me uh Dooki last year, so I’ll say that. What’s your favorite player in your career so far? I feel like I got a a couple of plays that I’ve liked. It’s yet to come. It’s going to come in the Laker jersey. Let’s say that. First memory round of basketball, just being in the gym every day with my folks. Um, my pops, he had me in there a lot. He got me a little Buzz Lightyear ball. So, I’m dribbling the little Buzz Lightyear ball around, doing ball handling with all the older kids and everything with a little Buzz Lightyear bouncy ball. What’s it like seeing your last name on a Lakers jersey? It’s surreal. It’s still hard to believe, but it’s a blessing, you know. I’m grateful all the hard work and everything, you know, paid off and um just ready to get to more work. That’s the first step. Now it’s, you know, got to get better. Your dad played for Coach Cow. Your mom was in the WNBA. How did that shape your path? Basketball, you know, I just I just grew up around it. They both were coaches, so they always had me in the gym. It was in my blood, so I just picked it up easily. What was it like playing for Coach Cal? It was fun. It took it It took some getting used to, but you know, at the end of the day, it was fun. I loved it. You know, that’s my guy. That’s my coach. I love him. I appreciate him for everything. He says they can do, you know, all that talking from, you know, outside the ring, but at the end of the day, they gota he’ll he’ll he’ll show it. He’ll open the little boxing ring and then step into it himself. He was like, “At the end of the day, they still got to step into the ring.” What’s your signature on the court? Putting the ball in the room. I’ll say that’s my signature. Nice ball. What’s a lacrosse skill you use on the court? I will say I played lacrosse for two days. I said I played lacrosse for fun and everybody took it as, you know, I played like a whole year lacrosse. No, I played for two days just to, you know, experience the the sport because I had the opportunity, but I just learned that it wasn’t for me. Best piece of advice you’ve received? My dad always tells me to control what I can control. So, that stuck with me my whole life. What are you looking forward to doing in LA? Winning games. Ready to come in, you know, do what I can do, help the team, but win games for sure. get in front of Laker Nation, get out there on the floor, just that first game, you know, I’m looking forward to it. When you pick an outfit, shoe first, then fit or fit first, then shoe. Sometimes, you know, you’ll probably have that shoe you want to wear and then you’ll, you know, pick the fit to match that. But sometimes you got to pick the fit and then figure out the shoe that works. I played in Kobe sixes all year, so those those my go-to. This or that? Those are two bad options. I got to go with wet socks. I’m all about winning. So, buzzer beater three to win the game. Playlist dogs. Oh, it depends. It depends. Right now, I watch uh Power, BMF, The Shy. Movie-wise, I was big on Fast and Furious. I watched it all going to the movie theater and everything since I was a kid. So, that that was my thing. Sweet dinner gold beach. You spent time in Molly. How would you describe it? It’s an experience for sure. You know, just being able to go out there, see other parts of my family, you know, see where my parents grew up, came from just being able to spend time with them, you know, it’s great just being able to unwind and relax. Do you speak any other languages? I’m fluent in bombara. That’s um our native language. And I I know a little bit of French. A little bit. Not too much. Los Angeles. Oh, a challenge. Give me one second. No. No. On the other one. On the other one. Yeah. This is your fault. This is great. [Music] On the other side. [Laughter] [Music]

  1. Ive only really watched his college highlights and they really don't relay how big this dude is. Like bro he is a LIVE WIRE for how big he is!! i really hope we can find a way to develop Aduo asap! Welcome to LA big fella, happy to have you!

  2. I also played lacrosse for two days… too violent for me and thats coming from an ice hockey player

  3. I love him already! If he can contritbute asap, he be catching lobs from Luka next szn.

He needs athletes and Douski is absolutely one

  4. Lakers got a real one. Don’t care if Adou’s a rookie. Find him some playing time! His athleticism and energy will be needed especially in the playoffs.

  5. Play defense and figure out how to shoot better than Jerrod Vanderbuilt and you will have a job long term.
