Denver Nuggets Sign Kessler Edwards To A Deal
Yo, what’s going on, guys? And today we’re hearing that Kesler Edwards is being signed to a deal with the Denver Nuggets. And honestly, I like this deal. The man out of Pepperdine last year. He was a guy who broke out onto the scene a few seasons ago with the Nets. Then he ended up, I believe, what was it with the the Kings. Didn’t really do much. And now the 25year-old is going to be playing for the Dallas Mavericks. He’s a combo forward. He’s someone who’s 6’8, can shoot the ball better than other people. He’s a guy in 177 games at about 13 minutes a night across two seasons with the Sacramento, two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets. Actually, I guess one and a half seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, one and a half seasons with the Kings. And then Dallas was really the most minutes he had gotten since that first run with the Nets. And he was someone that Kevin Durant was actually a big fan of his when he was playing with KD. And Edwards averaged four points while shooting 50 50% almost from the field and just under 41% from three in 40 games, including 18 starts for the young buck. And if you guys are wondering, well, how did he do in those games that he did start? Well, this is a guy that as a starter this past season for the Dallas Mavericks, as we mentioned, he did start in 18 games for them. And he was actually someone in 25 minutes shot 53.4% 48.6% 6% on two threes a game while averaging just under eight points, five rebounds, and two assists. Those are some pretty good numbers for a guy who a lot of people have probably written off and don’t even think about as a candidate that might have been picked up for a team. And he might have been somebody that was getting a bunch of offers to go overseas, but he still continues to climb away or to claw away at this NBA opportunity because this is a guy who is an NBA player right now. The current roster for the Denver Nuggets is one that I think is perfect for a guy like Kesler Edwards. He’s going to have an opportunity to actually make the team. I think if you look at it, he’s going to be competing with a few guys. But Denver’s a team that’s going to have to make some decisions with Peyton Watson. And if they do end up trading Peyton Watson, Kesler Edwards could be a guy that ends up replacing him. Now Jamal Murray, Christian Brown, Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, Nikolai Joic make out the starting lineup with Yonas Valunis, Payne Watson, Tim Hardway Jr., Julian Strawther, and Bruce Brown as the projected next five guys in the 10-man rotation. And like I said, Pay Watson right now his backup is Hunter Tyson or the two-way of Spencer Jones. So, they don’t really have another guy and Kesler Edwards would allow them to go ahead and be like, “Hey, maybe it is an opportunity for a team like the Nuggets to get themselves a guy who’s 6’8 with a near, you know, just under 7 foot wingspan. He’s a capable defender who can be a weak side rim protector. He can guard two through four. He’s a guy who can shoot over anybody. He’s got just such a great, you know, release. It’s really high. He’s a great movement shooter. This is someone that Kevin Durant love. I mean, dude, he might be better than Julian Strawler. And I think Kesler Edwards is someone that has just gotten the raw end of the stick because he’s been buried on really good teams. And then obviously that Sacramento doesn’t help going there. So, I think having him come here after that run that he went on with the Dallas Mavericks last year will enable him to be this confident three-point shooter for a championship team. And that’s where I’m really excited to see what’s going to end up happening because they’re a team that is in a great position to really really just shoot lights out. They have a lot of shooters now. If you just look at the roster and as I said, if they don’t cuz they’re Christian Brown’s basically a foregone conclusion that they’re going to extend him, but we don’t know about Peyton Watson. And there’s thoughts that maybe they package Peyton Wat Peyton Watson with Zeke Nani to to get off the contract. And that is possible. And then you would have Don Holmes, Mr. Kesler Edwards, Hunter Tyson, Jaylen Picket, and Tamar Bates if they convert him or Curtis Jones. They’re B. This would also they do have this is their final roster spot. So they don’t have to get rid of anybody to have them because they have the three two ways in Spencer Jones, Curtis Jones, the Tamar Bates, and one roster spot left open. So, to me, it makes sense if that was going to be like what you were trying to do. Now, I do understand that the Denver Nuggets, this was a team that compared to previous seasons, they didn’t have the best go three-point shooting. And Kesler Edwards has shown that this is a guy, two threes a night, can be a 40% shooter, and really put that ball over the edge. And in a way that I think they’re going to utilize him a lot more than we would think. And shout out my boy Michael Scott, by the way, for this information. And I want to know if you guys are on the same boat as me. But I do find it interesting that Mr. Kesler Edwards, he’s a guy that over the last few seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, he was just the the players, he was a rookie. He was an older guy. I know that. But he was also someone that with the right system and the right players around him because I could see a lineup that they run Aaron Gordon, Kesler Edwards, Nikolai Joic, Christian Brown, and Jamal Murray. And that’s when Cam Johnson sits or they run sick Aaron Gordon. and they have Cam Johnson, Kesler Edwards, and they they just bomb bomb the threes. Like, and I that’s part of why I’m like thinking right here. Could he end up being this kind of weapon for them in a way that some people might not expect and end up being one of the better three-point shooters just because he has that skill? We’ve always known he’s had that skill. So that’s where I sit here and I’m like there’s a chance that the sky is the limit and that’s as a result of how good Kesler Edwards or this system with David Alman be will be. But yeah, I’m very very much impressed with this move. I think it’s a good one and one that an organization like the Denver Nuggets have improved the roster not just outwardly but along the margins in ways that like we don’t typically talk about. I mean we do talk about it but in ways that don’t get the appreciation until afterwards. So to me, that’s just one of those things that we sit here and I continue to be amazed by how well they are able to put together, you know, the these options for Nikolai Joic that someone like him needs. You know, he needs to have those choices in terms of kickout options so he’s not the guy who’s creating everything. because if not like it’s going to be much more difficult for them than we, you know, normally suppose. So, that’s where I want to hear your guys’ thoughts in the comments. If you made it to the end of the video, what do you guys think and why? I do think it’s incredibly interesting how all of this is going to play out. Maybe I’m just way more excited about Kesler Edwards than the average person. And yeah, I don’t I don’t know. I think it’s very potentially it could be a move that people look back and they’re like, how the did they get Kesler Edwards for nothing? And yeah, so that’s my two cents on that one. I would like to hear your guys’s opinion. What do you guys expect and why? That’s going to be it for me today. Hey, I hope you guys did enjoy. If you guys made it to the end of the video, why don’t you hit that like and subscribe button to help out the channel? It will mean a ton. And yeah, I’m definitely curious to hear your opinions as we we go ahead. And yeah, to me, this is going to be one of those more interesting moments as this season progresses and we look ahead at what potentially may be the result of this signing. But yeah, I am very curious to hear your thoughts. Ciao, guys. Thanks for watching. Till next time. Puppies out, everybody. I’m heading out.
