This Explains It ALL…

Folks, the off seasonason is in full swing. No, this video is not about Jonathan Kaminga and the trade saga. We’re going to talk about his advanced stats in the Warriors advanced stats as itself. What can they do to improve individually to make this team better? We know free agent wise, we haven’t signed anybody. Seth Curry, Al Horford, the Anthony Melton, GB2, Ben Simmonsish, they’re all kind of waiting there for the Kaminga domino to fall. Till that falls, we will have no free agent movement. Of course, JK qualifying offer, Kings, Suns, whatever it is. So, how are these players individually trying to get better for the Warriors? When you look at our team, this is what we have right now. So, you really going to have to step on Moody healed to play some bigger minutes going forward. So, one, let’s dive into what Moses Moody said he’s doing to get better. Let’s look at some of these advanced stats to see how they’re actually affecting this team. Please like, please subscribe. Please follow Warriors Digest for trade news, free agency, everything in between. Game recaps when we come back. Myself and Arthur here for you. The young man and the three podcast used to be JJ’s Reddics. Obviously, he’s the head coach of the Lakers now. Doesn’t host it, but Moses Moody went on to talk about what he’s doing to get better this off seasonason. It’s a pretty interesting uh take. So, take a look. Mamba mentality. Is there something in the weeds that you feel like you’ve cracked in the last year that you feel like you’re that you can say that you feel like you’re particularly proud of? Yeah, I forgot. Y’all get on the weed. Get in the weeds here. The point. Okay. Okay. Um, so footwork and that’s like when I talking about ball handling is part of it, but uh just really the importance of footwork and like not even thinking about the ball as much. So, if if we square it up right here and I want to go right, well, my left foot stepping past your back foot, there’s nothing you can do once I once I once I get there. And if I can’t get there, then that mean that you jumped all the way over there, so I’ll go the other way. But it’s like just simplifying. The first time I was thinking I got to cross you over and I got to shift you this way so I can get that way. But when thinking about it as steps completely changed stuff for me. Was that a film realization? Was that an ingame? Like where did you come to this? Uh, so last year working with Dash Athletics, um, he was sitting there, he was trying to like get me to understand that for a while through the workouts, but I was recording every workout. So I had my man like when I was as I was working out, like every drill, everything I was doing, I was he was recording it and then after the fact, I would go home and watch all of my drills and stuff and some some reps felt better than others and I didn’t know why. And it didn’t really crack to me until me and dad started watching some Kobe footage and Kobe was doing exactly what he was talking about. And then I went back and watched my footage and I realized that thing, that simplicity of that one step or that those steps and being purposeful with my feet and that that opened it up. Amazing. That’s really good insight by Moses Moody right there. And if you’re not a fan of Old Man of Three podcast, it’s not just talking podcast. They like dive into the X’s and O’s of basketball. So, it’s really engaging to listen to Moses Moody talk about that. And you did see him have a little bit more burst last season. Obviously, he had some injuries as well that held him back, but he seemed like he was a more explosive player. When you look at his stats, now let’s go to his advanced stats. And we’re going to do this for a couple players on this team. As I mentioned, uh you look here. So, P40, how many uh points per 40 minutes if you played 40 minutes would have been his second highest of his career. Of course, he’s not playing 40 minutes a game, but if he’s averaging 40 minutes a game, he’s giving you 17 points at that wing position at 65. Pretty good. That’s pretty nice. Now, of course, if we actually go to what he did, let me pull up the stat. 9.8 in 22 minutes. There you go. Right there. 9.8 in 22 minutes. So you can see how they would explo make that extended out. You look at R 40. What does that actually mean? Rebounds per 40 minutes. 4.6. So this is where I think he can do a better job. He does like to get out on the fast break, but worst of his career. He needs to get in. You look at BP, who’s a point guard, shooting guard. He plays both for us, excuse me, is getting a bunch of rebounds. I think Moses Moody could take that back up to around six or seven per 40. Of course, a per 40 is assist per 40, 2.3, second highest of his career. But this is something where he’s rarely getting the ball doing a catch and shoot at the three or he’s getting the ball and he’s driving. He’s not really a playmaker for other people. This is where he can do a better job. He just talked about footwork, getting by the player. That’s where you can get by the player, put it off to Quinton Post in the post, kick it to somebody else, maybe do a pump fake and you give the three shot to somebody else. but he can do a bit better at doing um more assist. I think this will uplevel this team. We know wars like assist. You look at TS team shooting percentage would be if we counted for free throws and three-pointers. True shooting percentage total points times 50 divided by field goal attempts plus this mathematical equation. So the true the team shooting percentage would be 57.8% tied for the previous year. Again, he’s not the best shooter out there. If you look at his actual numbers, his shooting percentage right here, 37% from three, one to four game, field goal percentage, 43. This could get a bit higher. Again, he missed some open threes. He did make some good threes, contested threes, but I think getting to the rack a bit more, this will go up and it will ease his game from outside the paint. Then you got typical uh as the percent of team’s possessions that end in assists, 12.4. So that’s good. That means he’s out there, balls moving, you’re getting assists. 12.4 game. Warriors usually try to get much higher than that. Of course, to0 stands for the percentage of teams possessions that end in a turnover. Seven. It was higher here, but has gone down a bit. You know, Moody’s pretty careful with the ball. USG, the number of possessions a player uses per 40 minutes. 17.3 second highest of his career. And then they don’t have the actual real plus minus. However, 23 24 he was in the positive where he was a negative. So you can see efficient across the board which is good. He just needs to continue up level now that he moves in to his fifth year. Oops. And of course folks, Moody just received the new contract as well. So he’s got 12 million, 13 million, 13 million. Now, we talked about in the other video, Warriors don’t have a lot of movable contracts, especially with Green, Butler, and Curry being so high. So, him and Buddy are the two contracts you maybe need to throw in for a JK trade or another trade that can make money work to get a 20 $25 millionesque type player. So, if you do the same idea for BP now moving to his third year, yes, he was injured last year, came in and out, but he did, if you look at the advanced stats, have a better shooting year. Of course, we know he started really bad, absolutely terrible. Um, found out he had some injuries and then the back half of the season was much better. Of course, in the playoffs, did not shoot the ball um good at all. But if you look at his points per 40, he’d be 17. If you look at his rebounds, it went down, which still at his position, 6’4. Not small, but smaller for an NBA team on the court. Seven rebounds a game when Moody’s fiveish, six. Impressive. Maybe it was even four. What was it? 4.6. six. Yeah. You look at assist per 40 five. I’d like to see that get higher. Again, he is a point guard who can shoot, does distribute the ball decently. You look at the team’s true shooting percentage, 55%. So, he is 55%, Moody is 57%. And you look at the again, unfortunately, there is no real plus minus as of right now. So just now we go to Jonathan Kaminga and how does he look at this? He’s always been in the minus for the Warriors. You look at his points per 40 would have been the highest of his career. Of course, he didn’t really play uh in the winter with his injury and then did not play because of Butler and then had did not coach his decisions. Did not play coach’s decisions, but points-wise, he’s getting you the bucket. His rebounding pretty good for his position as well, staying around seven to eight a game. assist. Not his play at all. He gets the ball, he drives multiple times. Um he’s ruined the floor spacing multiple times. He’s let the guy run by, could have made the pass, easier pass, but then holds the ball and does an ISO play. His true shooting percentage, team shooting percentage, not good there. Assist, again, not there. He’s not moving the ball a lot. Turnovers was a bit high with him. We know that has happened. and his overall usage, the number of possessions to play uses per four minutes pretty high. When he’s out there, he’s getting the ball in his hands. He’s trying to make plays. Now, again, his real plus minus, I’d be interested to see what it was. Wasn’t the best. Now, if you compare that to Steph, he’s going to have a lot more. Of course, if he’s playing four minutes a game, which sometimes, you know, he’s playing a lot of minutes, 30 points a game, which on average is right where he’s at. You look at his rebounds, five consistently, five to six. Better than his rookie years, his first years when it was around four. His assists, 7.5, right up there with his career highs in that average, 2019, 9.5. And his real plus minuses, 10, 11. Impressive. Only one year of being a minus and that was his rookie year. Be curious to see what this year was. definitely I think was probably in the four to six range but you can see contributing to the team staying up there. Draymond Green you hear a lot about is he actually benefiting this team his real plus minuses let me move my camera are usually between zero to four only one year of minus. So he’s doing the dirty work on defense. Yes, he’s a triple single on offense, but you can see here if he was playing 40 minutes, he’d be getting you double digit in points. Rebounding wise, he’s always gonna be up there with what he provides. Assist, he’s great at moving the ball either as a point ball handler forward type of position or getting it on a pick and roll or dump dumping it off. Uh shooting wise, never been the highest, but he actually did a decent job this year at threes. You look at his three-point percentage this year, 32%. Uh, yes, I know it’s lower than previous years, but if you look at the number of threes he actually took, 147, the highest he’s had since 2017. And that Oh, sorry, that’s free throws. My bad. He took 246 and that’s the highest he’s had since 2017, whereas 30% 32%. So, he took a lot more. He was making them. And it felt like some of those were big moments as well. They left them wide open. They’re going to sag off of him. He made those threes which is good. You look at Jimmy. Again, it’s gonna be weird because of the trades, but Jimmy has gone diminishing in his actual RPM. Kind of got stagnant a bit, went back up with the heat and then has gone back down again. If he’s playing 40 minutes, he’s not scoring as much as he used to. You can see slowing down, more methodical in what he does. But with this team, I think he’s probably g have to score a bit more and he’s gonna have to help getting more assists, which he can do in the ISO, pass the ball up and get you some stuff like you see right here, 26.1 as he wants as the percent of teams possessions that ended in an assist. So boom, he is really being beneficial to this team. As his points have gone down, he’s done better job by getting assist. That is high IQ basketball. Speaking of Jimmy, he’s having a great summer. He’s over in China right now doing a media tour. Got to meet the man Jackie Chan, which is pretty cool. Learning some kung fu from Jackie Chan right here. And just having a great time. China tour is a vibe. So trying to give you a little bit more insight, Warriors fans, into this team, into some numbers. Obviously, you know, the Kaminga News has dominated everything. It’s what we talked about. We have to talk about it. Trying to get you a little variety. Comment your thoughts. Like and subscribe.

  1. Dont forget that moodys assist rate is affected by who he was playing with and he was told to defer to podz a lot. So that asst stats can be scued

  2. Only way the W move the needle is get that someone from the Bucks. Otherwise they are a 7 8 seed at best. They have no front court and Green is too small to play C, can’t keep up with the quick guys on the outside.

  3. Trade pods for draft picks and save money , and give kaminga pods starting spot ,and him pay the money he want ,bigger role plus starting and 38 mins

  4. Draymond & Jimmy are too old to not be good shooters anymore. That holds back the team more than anything. They play too many minutes so that means every other person on the floor with them HAS to be lights out to make up the difference.

  5. You sound like what you are saying is scripted you always have something negative to say about JK. I hope he does end up on a team that appreciates his skill set. Golden State will regret the way they handled JK.

  6. But Seth shooting average is great. Jk doesn’t want to be there so why stay? Jk is going to get burned in the long run. I like Moody and Gp2! They have made a mess of this season! Jimmy will come through! One big is all they need.

  7. Moody basically has the same ceiling as Wiggins except that the hype of being the number one pick destroyed Wiggins' career, and Moody, being a 14th pick, doesn't receive the confidence to have a more important role.

  8. This was a really good breakdown of Moody's game and how he's improved defensively. Still don't like how this channel titles their videos
