Los Angeles Clippers Sign Jason Preston To A Deal

Yo, what’s going on, guys? And we’re hearing that from Keith Smith of Spotrak or Spotra. I’ve always wanted to confirm it. I’ve never gotten a confirmation of what it’s supposed to be. I’m pretty sure it’s spot track. Either way, Jason Preston and the Los Angeles Clippers sign an Exhibit 10 training camp deal. Preston is going to be on a non-Garanteed contract if he were to make the team, but this more than likely means he’s just a camp body that will land with the San Diego Clippers. the G-League affiliate of the Los Angeles Clippers after the preseason. And he’s a guy who played his first two years with the Clippers and then he also had a brief stint with the Utah Jazz. He kind of sat out basketball for a little bit, but he was someone who bursted onto the scene due to him being a mixtape sensation that landed him a rook a recruiting opportunity with the University of Ohio. And then he helped that team go to the tournament I believe and he’s a 6’3 6’4 tall guard long. Yeah, he came from a mid major. He is only 26 years old from Colorado Springs in Broward County. Yeah, he had to miss the entire rookie year of his, you know, rookie year due to a foot surgery which kind of I think stunted his development a little bit even though he was a bit of an older player. Now, for a guy like him scouting wise, what is he? We mentioned that he’s kind of a tall guard, not an athletic one or a speedy one, but he has a 6’8 wingspan. He’s now gotten to a part where like he’s shown that he’s got good feel for the game. He’s got playmaking ability and he’s m someone who can make something out of nothing at times and he’s very very creative at times with the pick and roll. He’ll run the pick and roll. His jump shot’s gotten better. It’s still a little weird looking, but he hits threes at a solid rate in the G- League. The lack of athleticism and verticality and burst can be evident. He is a below the rim finisher. And at times as a defender, he struggles getting around screens and on offense, he is a guy who needs tons of ball screens to create to get that separation to either get to a floater or a mid-range shot or to the rim or and he’s not someone who’s going to get to the rim really. He’s more of a if he does go, you know, down on the screen, he’s going to just go for a floater or mid-range. Now, he’s obviously someone’s just gonna probably just look for the roll man or kick out when he does go. However, he does use the screen to create those three-point shots for him. So, for someone like him, I think another thing with Jason Preston, if you’ve been following him, he’s someone that he’s only playing 21 NBA games, about nine minutes a night, two and a half points, two rebounds and two assists a game stat, the box sheet, you know, in those two, you know, 10 minutes a game he’s played. And the other thing is is that in the G he’s I’m not saying that he he hasn’t been bad or great. He’s win getting gotten the opportunity with the Salt Lake City stars in 23 to 24. He was only averaged 17 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists game, absolutely dominated, 50% from the field, 45% from three 16 games. And I think at one point he basically was like, “All right, not 16 games, my apologies. 26 games. The year before was 15 games with the Memphis Hustle, but or the same season was Memphis Hustle. This was all in 23 24 and he absolutely dominated that spot time. This past year, he shot 63.6% didn’t take any threes and that was a trend that he had just did this year. He shot 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and absolutely killed it. Killed it in terms of efficiency and was playing only 24 minutes a night. Now, he’s someone that yes, he’s dominated in terms of being able to put up the box score at 13 8 and 8 also with Memphis and then with the Ontario Clippers. I forgot that San Diego was called Ontario. But he averaged 155 and seven. what I’m getting at his stats kind of like it’s weird. The the teams he’s been on haven’t been the most successful and his three-point shot clearly has been something that’s holding him back, but I think he has the tools to be there. He’s clearly a fringe NBA player. So, I want to hear your guys’ thoughts. That’s it. Ciao.

The Los Angeles Clippers have signed guard Jason Preston to a training camp deal. The non-guaranteed contract is expected to lead to Preston joining the San Diego Clippers in the G League after preseason.

Preston, a 6’3” guard, previously played his first two NBA seasons with the Clippers and also spent time with the Utah Jazz. His return adds depth for camp and a familiar face to the organization.
