So, could the Golden State Warriors be trading away Jonathan Kaminga to the Memphis Grizzlies this 2025 NBA off season? So, this trade is intriguing to me because there has been a lot of speculation regarding KCP’s future in uh Memphis after he was, of course, traded away from the Orlando Magic in the Desmond Bane trade earlier this off season. And of course, there’s been a lot of speculation recently about Kaminga and his status. Uh because as of right now, the Warriors are going to stand pat and not trade him. But I don’t 100% believe that because the longer that this goes on and the longer that Kaminga doesn’t have a contract, it can get pretty ugly and it’s probably in the best interest for the Warriors at this point to just flip Jonathan Kaminga, get back whatever they can in return and just move on that way without the distraction looming over them. So, breaking down this trade, to me, I think the Warriors would be selling a little bit short on Kaminga in this case. Now, Gigi Jackson could definitely be a good player at some point in the NBA. No doubt about that. I do think maybe for him a change of scenery just given how young he is, maybe a more, you know, increased role somewhere else could mean a lot. But is that going to be in Golden State? I just really don’t think so. And Contavius Calwell Pulp’s a very solid player, don’t get me wrong. But is trading for an a bit of an older player, a veteran for a 22-year-old potential star in this league in Kaminga the best use of assets if you’re the Golden State Warriors? To me, it probably isn’t. and he can probably get back a better trade package elsewhere. But I think if you’re Jonathan Kaminga, the thought of him going to Memphis would be pretty intriguing, I would imagine. Um I think the Memphis Grizzlies are a team that might go through a bit of a retool these next couple years. We did of course see them resign um Jiren Jackson Jr. Uh we of course saw them trade away uh Desmond Bane as well. So it could be addition by subtraction here if they view Jonathan Kaminga as a potential third option offensively on this team for the foreseeable future. just kind of given the timeline of this team and how young they are, it actually fits in pretty well in regards to a long-term uh destination for him. Would he be, you know, having the keys to the franchise? No. He’d be playing behind John Morance and Jiren Jackson Jr. But if Kaminga buys in to potentially being a third option long-term for this Grizzlies team, he could be a Desmond Bane replacement and the asking price for him would be actually relatively light um all things considered here. So, I think this is a pretty good trade for the Grizzlies to make in regards to the Warriors. It’s just not enough. So, I think for those reasons, uh, the Grizzlies win this trade to me without a doubt. But, as always, leave your thoughts.
