Salary Cap Breakdown – Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have a lot of money going to their top three players heading into next season. Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxi account for over 75% of the Sixers salary cap. But the bottom of their roster saw a lot of turnover this off season. First off, the Sixers declined the team option for Lonnie Walker, Jared Butler, and Justin Edwards. And then they waved Ricky Council. They also lost Gershon Yaboselli in free agency. Kyle Lowry’s contract ended. And then Eric Gordon declined his player option. So out of those seven players, three of them were brought back. Kyle Lowry, Eric Gordon, and Justin Edwards all at the minimum. And then they also signed free agent Trendan Watford also at the minimum. And then at the draft, Philly selected VJ Edgecom with the number three pick and Johnny Broom with the number 35 pick. Finally, there’s one other significant contract that hasn’t been resolved yet for the Sixers, and that’s Quinton Grimes. He’s a restricted free agent like Jonathan Kaminga and Josh Giddy. And also like those guys, he hasn’t reached an agreement yet for a new contract. Technically, he could sign the qualifying offer for 8.7 million, but that would be a lose-lose situation for both he and Philly. Most likely before next season begins, they’ll come to an agreement for something along the lines of 15 million per year for the next few seasons. But who knows, anything can happen in the NBA.

Here’s what the Sixers finances look like for next season with Embiid, George and Maxey accounting for over 75% of the cap!

  2. You don't win championship with 3 players 😂 Teams should've rethink before giving and trading for players that ain't worth $50+M should've used some of those money towards good role players not the minimum bench warmers 😅

  3. The Sixers roster is sad, all their money tied up in unreliable players and an undersized SG playing the point, they have no big man depth. Just a Yucky Roster.
