The Hawks might BREAK the NBA…

The Hawks might BREAK the NBA…

Because for me with the way that this team looks, this is going to be a top four team in the East. And I think there are some Pacers potential for this year for this team in a playoff run. They’ve built out a dynamic, really well-fitting roster around Trey Young, their star point guard. And I believe he now is the best supporting cast he has ever had. For my past two videos, I’ve talked about two of the biggest winners from this off season. So, I decided why not keep that going. And one of the biggest winners from this off season was the Atlanta Hawks where in an Eastern Conference that’s wide open, they have positioned themselves to be a dark horse to make the conference finals. Their great off season starts with them trading for Christos Porzingis. While I love this move, there is concerns. For one, KP is injuryprone and he looked awful this past postseason. But considering what they gave up for him, it’s the perfect low opportunity. He’s recovered from the illness which really affected his play during the playoffs. KP and Trey Young pick and rolls can be lethal. KP is also a great lob target. He’s a threat to pop. KP is just a legit floor spacer. Over the past three years, he shot 38% from deep on five attempts a night. KP also provides them an elite mismatch attacker in the post. Defensively, KP can only play drop coverage in the pick and roll. But he’s a good rim protector if he can stay relatively healthy for the regular season and the playoff run, which I know it’s a big if, but if he can, then the Hawks brought in a top 60 player in the NBA for pennies on the dollar. Naw was a great signing. He’s a seamless fit being a good role player that’s a three-end wing that can defend point guard, shooting guards, and some small forwards. He’s a quality floor spacer. Over the past three seasons, Naw has shot 38% from deep on basically four attempts a game. The Hawks bringing in Luke Canard was a sneaky good signing. He’s a great shooter from deep both off the catch and on the move. But Canard is more than just a shooter. He can put the ball on the floor and be a solid playmaker. Now, before we get into the rest of the video, I would appreciate it if you could like the video as it helps the video perform better in the YouTube algorithm and subscribe. Trey Young is a top five to seven point guard in the league, but his impact still gets disrespected. Trey is one of the best playmakers in the NBA. While his shot selection can be questionable at times, and he will always be a negative defender because of his height. But Trey has been a walking 26 and 10 for over four years. He’s one of the best offensive engines in the NBA, and he’s an elite pull-up shooter. Jaylen Johnson has only continued to improve each season. and the pick and roll with him and Trey has become very good. He’s a very good play finisher, great attacking in transition, good passing out of the short role, and has shown flashes as a self-creator inside the ark and as a on ball passer. He’s good defensively, he mainly guards power forwards. He’s solid as a weak side rim protector, and when it comes to being in the passing lanes, getting deflections and steals. To me, Jaylen has a real all-star ceiling. Dyson Daniels is coming off a breakout season where he showed his growth as an offensive player and why he’s an elite perimeter defender and event creator with all the steals and deflections he can force. He led the league in both by a landslide. Him and Naw are going to be a great perimeter defensive duo. Zachary Reach has the archetype you want next to Trey as a 3 andd wing with plus size and length. He already has a good feel off the ball as a cutter and moving off ball to make himself available for quality looks from deep. As the season got along, Reach started to get more adjusted to the NBA, especially from March to April where he was playing his best basketball. He does need to add on more strength to better finish through contact and handling physicality on his drives and defensively, which it’s looking like he has. If that added strength translates to improve those affformentioned weaknesses, Rashange can become a highlevel B&D wing. Ona Kongu as he’s been given more opportunity has increased his production. He’s a good lob target, has upside with his shooting from deep and right now is a okay rim protector, but he has room to grow with his positioning and timing defensively. He can be the starting center which allows the Hawks to low manage KP throughout the regular season with KP being a legit floor spacer. The Hawks can go to double big lineups with Onka and KP. Very shown he can be a real rotational player. He’s a good shooter from D primarily off the catch and spotting up. He’s actually a good playmaker relative for his role offensively. Crazy is a decent point of attack defender with plus size that’s at his best defending guards. Mo Gay, Kobe Buffkin, and Asa Newell are wild cards. Quinn Snder has shown some trust in Mo because he gives them a big that’s a good rim protector, but he’s a negative offensive player right now. He’s not a good finisher and despite taking a decent amount of breeze, he’s not efficient on them. Kobe Buffkin has shown flashes as a shock creator and as an event creator, but that’s all it’s been because he hasn’t been able to stay healthy. Now, with Asa Newle, I saw him as a decent prospect. He was 25th on my big board. He’s a good finisher and a lob target. Defensively, he has a high motor and projects to be a versatile team defender, but New is a tweener, not being able to play the four or five. Combine that with him not being a respectable shooter from deep right now. If he’s not able to space the floor, he becomes a clunky fit in any lineup. So, if one of Mo Gay, Buffkin, or New can hit, it makes the Hawks a team that is already deep, a team that can be even deeper being able to have a 10-man rotation. In the past, I’ve been very critical of the Hawks and was in the camp saying Trey would request a trade. But after how well their new GM on Cis Salah cooked this off seasonason, building a team with the most length and size Trey has had around him in his career to mask his deficiencies defensively. The Hawks making a surprise run to the conference finals is in the realm of possibility. I’m just saying. I appreciate you watching the video. Don’t forget to like the video and subscribe. Let me know in the comments what do you think is the Hawk ceiling this season. And see you on the next one.
