No one is talking about how Willie Green’s job with the Pelicans could be on the line if the team stumbles out of the gate in the first 10 games of the season. And that’s uh first 10 games don’t look too good. We’re going to take a look at all the details about it inside this edition of Mail’s Digest. What’s good with it everybody? Cuz we talk about the Pelicans and their schedule, uh, which came out yesterday, and I did a video about it, and I discussed in the schedule. The the the first thing that stood out to me was the back to backs. Uh that was the the real first thing that stood out to me because last season the Pelicans had 16 back-to-back games. Uh and uh they finished six and 26 in those backto backs. So that’s why I that was one of the first things that I saw that stood out to me on the schedule when it was released yesterday. This season they only have they have uh one less backtoback. It’s 15 of them. Uh and of course uh we discussed how if they’re going to be conservative with Zion Williamson and letting them playing those backtobacks, it might be a key to their success. Also, we discussed how the Pelicans in the month of January have a whole bunch of Sunday games. They got like four straight Sunday games. And shout out to my man Tudonaut who uh posted in the comments in the video yesterday uh that the reason why the NBA did that is because ain’t nobody going to be checking for the Saints. And I I agree with that, brother. I agree with you 100% on that one, man. And I’m a Saints fan and I’m going keep it on 100 which I’m not only a Bills fan, I’m also a Saints fan. So uh but uh now as we have sat down with the schedule because when I dropped the video yesterday was sort of like an instant reaction to the schedule. Uh yeah, now that we sat down and been able to analyze the schedule and also I got my season tickets, so I was able to look at the games that I’m going to there’s some things that people are starting to realize and starting to point out about the early start of the Bellicanin schedule. And we discussed it before on this show that the first 10 to 20 games of this season is going to be a real look at what’s going on with Willie Green and his coaching style and what’s going on with this roster. the ro I will continue to be of the opinion that he has everything he should need to be successful this season outside of health that which is the only thing that could be stopping this team. He has everything he should need to be able to be successful this season. And I I still I’m still of the opinion that I think he’s toast at the end today. But and we talked about this and we’re going to and we discussed this on the show about the first 10 to 20 games of this season uh being uh a sort of a a a look at Willie Green’s coaching situation and future with this team. The first 10 games of the season don’t look good with the Pelicans and and it don’t look good with Willie. Now, I will say this and I’m going to talk about this in in total in this video. I believe there’s two points in this season early in the start of this season where we’re going to be able to find out if Willie Green is going to still be the coach of this team or not. And first, it starts with what’s going on at the first 10 games of this season. The according to Jim Iikenhoffer, the Pelicans will be tested immediately, including going on the road for seven of their first 10 games. They were just seven and 34 in the away contest last season, which we all know which we all know uh is is what it is. Now, with that being said, with that being said, we got to talk about this with Willie Green because uh my man Propel’s talk pointed this out. Willie Green has started off each season through 10 games terribly. This team has consistently stumbled out of the gate in the first 10 seasons, I’m sorry, the first 10 games of the four seasons that Willie Green has been head coach. In 2021 and 22, they went 1 and9. In 2022 and 23, five and five and 23 and 24, four and six. And even in 24 and 25, they went three and seven. And of course, you can even still not wipe away 245 in last season. We still come out, this team still comes out the gate in the first 10 games terribly. It’s unfortunate, but that’s something I think that you need to pay attention to. If you can’t come out the season winning, then it’s going to be a moratorum for a majority of the season. And that’s why the the Bells haven’t won more than 50 games is we get stuck at that 40 49 points and all those seasons of course those first three seasons what uh made the play in and still got eliminated quickly. So So at the end of the day even though you still had time to improve throughout the season, you can’t afford to come out the gate losing these first 10 games in horrific fashion. And again, it don’t look good because when you look at the first 10 games among their first six opponents, starting with the home opener with uh the road opener with Memphis, five hoes, five of these teams are coming off playoff appearances last season, including Boston, Denver, the Clippers, and defending champion Oklahoma City. So, that doesn’t look good for Willie, man. It really doesn’t look good for Willie at this point. To me anyway. to me anyway. If he’s going to come out, this is what our record has been over the first four seasons. That don’t look good to me. That worries me. And especially that the schedule makers give did us no favors. They ain’t did us no favors. They ain’t putting us on TV. All these is is they did us zero zero favors. And I don’t think that they will agree any favors to help him with his coaching job. Now, now there is enough there for us to again I I looked at these first 10 games and I’m going to have to take a look at them again here on the schedule in a second, but looking at those first 10 games, I think we could come out of there with a winning record. I really do. Like I I know you think I’m crazy, but I think because again, this is supposed to be a fully healthy team. I think they could beat Memphis. I think they could beat San Antonio. Even though San Antonio is going to be improved, I think they could beat San Antonio. Might be a problem with Boston. I think they could beat Denver. I think they could beat the Clippers. OKC might be a problem. Charlotte, I think they could beat them. We also got Dallas and another game with San Antonio, if I’m not mistaken, and Phoenix. I can see us winning realistically six of those seven games. I can see us realistically winning six of those seven games. So, with that being said, I think Willie can survive these first 10. The record doesn’t help. The track record doesn’t help, but I think he I think with the roster that we have now is new and improved. How he coaches him up. I think we can survive those first 10 games and see where we go from there. Now, with that being said, that’s I think that’s going to be the first test of Willie Green being able to keep his job. The second test comes in my opinion and of course and also with the opinion of my man uh Justin over at Bro Bell’s talk is this stretch between November 12th and December 31st. Okay. The Pelicans are going to have 18 home games and eight away games. Okay. Now, not counting last season because we know what happened last season. The season before that, the Bells were one of the best road teams in the NBA. That year before last, they were the one of the best road teams on the NBA. Couldn’t win them at home, though. So now you’re in a situation now where coming up in November to December, which is which is going to be, you know, you know, you’re going to be a month into the season at that point almost at this point, you have 18 home games. And this team seems to you got to win these home games. And I think these will be the second test of whether or not Willie Green because you get that Smoothie King Center. Let’s say let’s say we’re we’re up. Let’s say them hells are up at this point in the season. Let’s say them hells are up. I mean I mean when we up and and you know the Smoothie King saying rocket everybody happy. you go into that stretch and win and lose a whole bunch of games and get his fan base rowdy and mad and and and and starting to question you again. You don’t want that. Especially Joe Dumar and Gail Benson. You don’t want that. If you’re getting everybody hyped up at the start of season, you know, let’s say again, I’ll say it again. Let’s say you come out those first 10 games in October and the start of November and and the Hell’s on a winning record. You go through that stretch with 18 games at home and you lose most of those games, it’s going to get ugly fast. It’s going to get ugly fast for Willie. So, I think those are the two early points of the season. And like I said, the record still don’t even even still it don’t get any better than that. We still got to play like a whole bunch of playoff teams at the early start of the season. So, so again, this is going to be a true test on what Willie could do, man. Because at the end of the day, he you got everything that you need. And like I say, and it looks and according to a lot of us and a lot of us who what we’re seeing as far as the coaching moves that me made the the the fact that they fought the Bells fought to keep James Morgan on staff. They they could have let that man walk and go to New York. They fought to keep that man in New Orleans. They’re lining up the pieces around you so that that hey, if you if you can’t handle this man, if you can’t do what we what you can do, we got people here ready to go. And that goes for everybody on this roster at this point and everybody on this team going into this season. So again, you can’t afford to be conservative. I I and and Willie has to coach these guys up, man. Or else, especially with this opening gauntlet that we’re going to have to deal with with a lot of teams that are really open and on the road. On the road. Again, I think what helps is the Bells a year or two ago was one of the best teams on the road. I think that’s going to help Willy’s case in this situation. But that second stretch in November, December, if if you at home and you’re not protecting home and a lot of these games are going to be, you know, at least two of these games are going to be NBA Cup games that’s going to be at home and we’ve seen how we’ve been in the NBA Cup. Look, all I’m saying is, man, I’m going to be in the Smoothie King Center this season a lot at least once once or twice a month. Don’t screw this up with me, man. I won’t see y’all win. The last couple of games I been to has been L’s. So, I need to see y’all win these games at home. That’s all I’m saying. And right now, based on the track record that’s there with Willie Green in the first 10 games of every season, the the way things have been going as far as with their home play, these are things that have got to get be done and fixed quick going into October, November. They they have got to be done. We have got to be ready to win at home and also be able to do damage on the road. If not, we going to be in big trouble and we going to be in for another long season and more of the same. I hope not. I don’t want it to be. So, I am confident and and and I hope that I’m correct in saying that there will be more. We will be better. I I’m just cautious. You should be too. What are your thoughts? How do you feel?
