NEW LOOK BUCKS vs THUNDER – Myles TURNER – Giannis ANTETOKOUNMPO – MVP SHAI – Road to NBA 2K26

The opening lineup for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Some serious height in the middle. Homegrren the four, Hardenstein the five. Gildas Alexander runs the point with Dor at the two. And it’s Williams in at the three. And for Milwaukee, they’ve got Gary Trent Green out there with Giannis Ana Kumbo. Then there’s Miles Turner and it’s Porter in at the one. All right, Doris. How about teams like these who can really run their offense through their bigs? BA over the years, one of the things I’ve heard from coaches quite often is how effective a threetool big man can be. When you can drive it, pass it, shoot it, score it, do all the things they can, it changes the geometry of the floor. And Doris is such an important guy on the defensive end. Lou Dort, he is strong. He plays hard. He’s willing to mix it up physically. He’s a tremendous athlete. This guy is tough to score on. [Applause] and he drops the first. What we know about Lou Dort is this guy is an excellent defender. He’s got size, strength, versatility. You can basically throw him at the other team’s best offensive weapon night after night. And Dort hits them both. Grant, how about the rise of OKC in just two years, transforming from a 24- win team to the top seed. Incredible, BA. The Thunder drafted well and gave those picks lots of playing time. Plus, they made some fantastic trades. And of course, don’t forget OKC still has a boatload of picks. Shot clock at five on a Kmpo. Hartinstein pulls it in. Never easy to stop this guy at the rim, but that is a beautiful contest right there. They get the rebound. Here’s Homegrren. That one’s good. And so Gil just Alexander with the assist. Yeah, it’s just too easy for Homer, man. Is he fun to watch operate off the catch. Here’s an Akuma. Whoa. Beyond belief. I mean, such a creative talent. And I’m not surprised to see Giannis get flashy on the finish. And about a minute gone in the first quarter. Here’s Oklahoma City. Now Koopo with the block. They recover it out of bounds. It’ll be Bucks ball. And we have to take another look at that block. And that kind of rejection early on energizes your squad. The coaching staff just loves this kind of hustle. And it’s Porter with the ball for the Bucks. Tread outside [Applause] down low. Here’s Anna Kmpo. Oklahoma City grabs a miss. Dort outside over Trent and Dort with the bucket on the assist by Gilis Alexander. Well, Dort touched the paint and he was immediately thinking score. And let’s send it over to Ally Leforce. I was able to spend a few minutes with Doc Rivers. Our topic was how he’ll defend Shay Gildas Alexander and coach was straightforward saying Shay demands so much attention with the ball that he can warp a defense. We’ll need to stay disciplined and not get caught watching the play. We’ll see how that approach works out for them, guys. All right, Ally, thanks once again. It’s his first trip to the line. It’s hard to forget how much he struggled from the line during their last matchup. [Applause] He misses the free throw and Giannis will just about do anything the coaching staff asks. A true team player. He sinks the second and the Thunder in possession here outside. Gilis Alexander [Applause] outside. Williams off the mark there with a three. The Bucks have gone one for three so far. Here’s Aned Kmpo. It’s good. Only a few seconds into the shot clock. Anko’s got five. Yeah, the mid-range is not a go-to for Giannis, but he’s always looking to expand his game. Pass to Homegrren. Dor with it, guarded by Trent from deep. Homegrren hits the trifecta. He’s got five. I love this approach. Getting him involved early and it’s already paying off. Time out. They know that if this guy goes off, their chances of winning rise exponentially. And a timeout called here by Doc Rivers. He wants to review the game plan. [Applause] And a little over two and a half minutes gone here in the first on the wing. Green back to Porter. Pass to Trent. Clock at six. Hardenstein against Anakmpo. And you can’t forget about Homegrren’s reach, especially when he’s nearby on defense. Dort the pass to Homegrren left side. Gilis Alexander [Applause] puts it up from 12. And that one hits the back iron. Well, seized up just a little bit at the last second. That’s when he normally converts. Oh, Williams with the block. And Williams getting his timing just right on the block. Defending with purpose. And the fans love seeing incredible moments on defense like that block. That’ll put some fear into the shooters. And he made sure to do it early, too. And we’re approaching about three and a half minutes played in this first quarter. Trent against Dort. Six to shoot. And then Turner with the dunk. Well, this is where Miles Turner excels. Set the screen. Roll to the basket. Make sure your hands are up and ready to receive. Outside, Gilis Alexander. Oh, the Thunder. Another three. And that’s what they want to do. Get him open looks early. On a kmpo. The pass to Trent. Now here’s Porter. Anakmpo outside. Dor against Trent. Turner in the high post. Shoots over Hartinstein. Turner. No good. Oklahoma City leading by five homegrren. The pass to Gilis Alexander. Here’s Dort. Outside for Gilis Alexander. Here’s Homegrren. It’s Milwaukee with a rebound. [Applause] Trent on the wing. Dort defending left side. Greeno outside. Great D that time from Homegrren and the shooter had very little space on that attempt. Right. He stays connected and great timing on the contest. Dort the pass to Homegrren to the paint. There’s the three and another three for Oklahoma City. Well, the very definition of a stretch big, right? Homegrren comes in with the reputation as a spacer. And Doc Rivers Ball’s timeout. A moment to rest and confer on the game plan. Bucks trail by eight outside. Porter spins. Knocks it loose. Gil just Alexander with a steal. Pulls up and good. Got the friendly bounce off the right side of the rim. Gilis Alexander’s got five. They played with fantastic energy from the opening tip. Well, you set the tempo early and when you get command and control of a game, it’s perfect. Now, here’s Trent. Still without a bucket. Pass to Green. Here’s Anad Kmpo. Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws. Now, man, he made sure to get his money’s worth on that foul. And let’s quickly check out the scoring breakdown here for Oklahoma City. Well, in today’s NBA, the three-point shot is so valuable. They realize this, and that’s why they’re continuing to drain as many as they can. And their assist total also impressive early, creating with the pass and playing for teammates. [Applause] And that one falls for Anna Kmpo. Cole Anthony. He’s checked in for Trent. hits both from the stripe. Thunder leading by eight. Door outside. Back to Gilis Alexander. Rejected by Ana Kmpo. Giannis puts his touch on every aspect of the game. Big reach on display that time. Anthony right side. Dort with a steal. [Applause] Pass to Hardenstein. And here is Williams. [Applause] Hartinstein. A screen. Shot clock at six. [Applause] Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. The officials were right on top of that one. Oklahoma City shooting their third and fourth free throw attempts of the game. [Applause] shooting two. [Applause] First one falls for him. [Applause] So, one for two that time at the stripe. Here’s Williams. Pass to Homegrren. 4 3 2 1 and Turner with the block. How about Turner’s ability to anticipate when the shooter is going to release. Couldn’t be better at timing his rejections. [Applause] Here’s an Ampo. And it’s seven attempts. He’s drained three. Love to see that kind of activity. He just makes things happen. The definition of a stretch five, Doris Miles Turner, he’s led the league in blocks and he can hit a three. And it’s such a valuable asset for this basketball team. When Turner is on the floor, you’ve got to be aware of where he is in range. And then Miles is going to protect the rim with the absolute best of them. And I like when Williams works in these mid-range areas. I mean, such an impressive score. Porter, the pass to Anthony to the inside. Here’s Green. Lays it up and banks it in. Getting enough shots in close to play inside out. Here’s Homegrren. Give him eight. [Applause] Gildas Alexander on the wing. Beyond the arc. Milwaukee with the rebound. Pass to Kmpo. Second shot opportunity. Great D that time from Homegrren. Oklahoma City leading by seven. All right, let’s check in with Alli Leforce. Ted Homegrim makes up for his light frame with aggression. He said, quote, “You don’t have to take a second look at me now to know that I’m not the biggest dude widthwise, so I have to hit first. Otherwise, the game’s not going to go in my favor when things get physical.” Unquote. Brian, you agree? I do. And you can tell he just refuses to back down. Ally, here’s Porter following the bucket by the Thunder. Anthony outside. Pass to Anakmpo. Anakmpo is doubled. [Applause] Anthony the pass to Anakmpo. Just five to shoot. Oh, a clear foul there on the missed shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. It’s going to go on Chad Homegrren. Well, that was clearly a foul. Milwaukee shooting their fifth and six free throw attempts tonight. That free throw misses and the Bucks with some changes. Kyle Koosma, he’s checked in for Green and Prince is subbed in for Porter Jr. Cross back. He hits the second from the line. And so it’s Caruso who brings up the ball for the Oklahoma City Thunder. They’re leading by eight. Williams finds Caruso and the call will be against Kyle Koosma. That’s his first foul of the game. Milwaukee making some changes. Cortis comes in for Jiannis on a Kmpo and it’s Trent in for Prince. Caruso against Trent to the middle from the left block. Wallace’s shot is good. They’ve been very effective so far. A balanced attack at its best. On the offensive end, it feels like they’re getting the shots they want. And defensively, they are connected and on a string. And here’s Milwaukee now after the basket by Oklahoma City. Portis the pass to Koosma. The shot from the low post is good. You can see that Kyle Kosma has the kind of size and length and creativity to score on the interior. Williams against Poris. Here’s Joe off target from three-point range. The Bucks trail by eight. [Music] Anthony feeling it out a bit. There’s a screen by Turner. 11 ft out. Anthony misses. Oklahoma City’s gone three of six shooting from beyond the arc. Caruso. The pass to Williams. [Applause] Pass to Joe. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Wallace. A deep three. The rebound by Turner. Turner’s got four rebounds. Now Koozma drives in and the ball out of play. The Thunder will have it. This is one of those nights. Mistake after mistake. A comedy of errors. Smith, he’s checked in for the Bucks. Jen, he’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Shay Gilis Alexander comes in for Wallace. Thunder leading by eight. Pass to Joe. [Applause] Gilis Alexander on the wing and he gets it to fall. Three for eight in this one. And early on they’ve been on a tear just getting whatever they want offensively. Well, what I love is the game plan has been solid from the opening tip and guys are making their shots. That’s critical. Now here’s Koozma and he can’t get that one. Trent against Caruso. Pass to Gildas Alexander. [Applause] There’s 39 seconds left in the first. Oh, and he took a hard foul on the shot. So he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. And Doris, no doubt about it. Shay Gilis Alexander is an absolute monster on offense. Very quietly, one of the most dangerous offensive players in the game is Shay Gildas Alexander. He’s got size, he’s got speed, he’s got handle, he can score from three levels. This guy is a legit force. And he makes a first. And something that makes SGA so dangerous on offense, his elite drive and kickability. Yeah, you have to load towards him when he comes off a high pick. He just draws so much attention and can find another cutter or spot up shooter. He has so much gravity to his game. Both free throws good from Gilis Alexander. Two-part equation. You have to be aggressive enough to get to the line, then talented enough to sink them. 9 seconds separating the shot clock and game clock. Poris out of bounds. It’ll be Oklahoma City’s ball. And that shot was going nowhere thanks to that aggressive swat. What a play. I mean, that’ll have the offense thinking twice about taking shots in his presence. Oklahoma City leading by 12. Gilas Alexander feeling it out a bit. [Applause] It’s Milwaukee with a rebound. Boy, that’s one he wishes he could have back, especially against soft defense. Portis the pass to Smith. Milwaukee no good that time either. And so it’s the Oklahoma City Thunder going into the break up 12. They’re showing impressive focus out there and it’s paying off big on both ends of the floor. More NBA on 2K Sports right after this. We welcome you back to second quarter action. Plenty of basketball left to play, but this one has been one-sided. so far and a very convincing performance from the Thunder so far. Well, they came out with a physical presence and made rebounding a priority. I think it’s why they hold the lead here early because they’re controlling the flow of the game with those second chance opportunities. Bucks trail by 12. They’ve got Bobby Portoris, Cole Anthony out there with Gary Trent. Then there’s Kyle Kosma and it’s Smith in at the power forward position. That’s the group for Milwaukee right now. Doris, we know how big fashion is in today’s NBA. Perhaps no one showcases this more than Kyle Koozma. And you can tell BA Cuz definitely has some fun with some of the outfit choices. He does not mind causing a stir on social media and he does not mind pushing boundaries. That free throw no good. And we’ve seen the league ramp up the series model where teams play each other in the same arena twice in a row. What do you think, Doris? Ba, I absolutely love this. And more importantly, the coaches seem to engage highly in it because they feel to a certain degree it brings you a level of almost playofflike repetition and he’s good on the second. What I love about Kyle Koosma is this guy understands there’s more to the game than just scoring. That’s a change from his rookie season. Now he wants to contribute defensively and he gets on the glass, guys. Now here’s Gilas Alexander. So it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. It’s going to be on Bobby Portoris. I like that. I mean some physical play inside. He’s not about to give up any easy baskets. Oklahoma City shooting their seventh and eighth free throw attempts of the game. shooting two. The first free throw is good. The Thunder making a switch here. Wallace has checked in. And that one goes in. Two from the line that time. Bucks trail by 13. And here’s Trent. He’s scoreless. Portis outside. Pass to Anthony. That one a tad offline, but it drops in for him. One thing we know about Cole Anthony, this guy doesn’t lack any confidence whatsoever in that jumper. [Applause] And we’re now about a minute into this second quarter of play. And there’s a 3second violation. Joe’s checked in for Oklahoma City. The Bucks shooting just under 40% from the field on the wing. Anthony Gil just Alexander defending. Mortis gets the bucket. Credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. Thunder leading by nine. [Applause] Outside Joe. Pass to Gilas Alexander. [Applause] Back to Joe. Five on the clock. [Applause] Here’s Caruso. It’s tipped and they turn it over. Shot clock violation as the buzzer sounds. And we’re a little over a minute and a half into the second quarter. [Applause] Anthony against Gilis Alexander. Smith passes to Anthony. Plays it up and then off the pretty assist. I love it when guards are willing to get on the inside and go ahead and make plays. Cole Anthony, a scorer by nature. Now here’s Caruso. No made baskets yet. Outside Gilgis Alexander. [Applause] Back to Caruso. There’s a screen by Jay. Just five on the clock. [Applause] Caruso against Trent. Caruso misses. Bucks trail by seven. Pass to Trent. It’s tipped on the wing. Caruso. outside. Gilg Alexander floats one. There’s the block inside. Here’s Anthony and it’s blocked and that’s out of bounds. Milwaukee will keep it. And now it’s time to take another view of that huge swat. Yeah, good offense comes from great defense. This lead is only getting stronger with plays like that. [Applause] Smith outside pass to Anthony. Let’s go with a three. Yeah, you have to have awareness and focus. Gilish Alexander looking to make an impact defensively and the call will be against Kyle Kosma. That’ll be his second foul of the game. And the Thunder making a change here. Williams has checked in. Three minutes of action thus far in the second. Here’s Gilas Alexander to win the drought. Williams misses. You got to move past that one. I mean, they’d want him to take that again, and they should because it’s when you start turning down that kind of look that your offense can start to bog down a bit. Now, here’s Koosma. Man, can’t get it. He’s now one of three. [Applause] Anthony against Caruso. [Applause] Here’s Gilis Alexander. nine points in the game and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. Well, there’s a level of aggressiveness that you must contend with with Gilchis Alexander on the offensive end. You love to see him force the issue and this is his second trip to the line tonight. And in their last game, he really distinguished himself at the free throw line. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That free throw good from Gilgis Alexander. Milwaukee making a switch here. Prince has checked in. Hardenstein, he’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Dor comes in for Joe [Applause] and good on the second. So he makes them both. What you love about Shay Gilchris Alexander is this young man’s work ethic. He is a gym rat who is always looking for ways to improve. And Doc Rivers calls timeout. He wants a few moments to regroup with his players. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Closing in on four minutes played here in the second quarter. Pass to Prince. Portis with a screen on Caruso. Here’s Prince. He takes it in. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’s on Isaiah Hartinstein. Atorian Prince can be a problem for defenders on the drive because he’s strong and he’s long. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. First free throw is good. And you watch Tory and Prince and how valuable he is to his team for a couple of reasons. Number one, he doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. He defends at a high level and he can really stretch the floor. Milwaukee making a switch here. Harris has checked in. He’s perfect from the line this time. And here’s Gilas Alexander. He’ll bring it up for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Pass to Hardenstein. [Applause] Do it outside. Here’s Gilchus Alexander. He’s guarded by Anthony. Here’s Jen. Just four to shoot. Oklahoma City’s got to hurry. They got to get up a shot. Caruso misses. Hawks trail by seven. Prince down low. He’s guarded by Caruso. Portoris with a screen on Gordon. Back to Portoris. Launches it. Gets the three to fall. Cortis has got five points now this quarter. Gary Harris can play the one or the two guys and you have to be able to hit the open man. He does so there to outside. Pass to Jen. [Applause] Banked it in off the glass and the Thunder lead by six. Pick works well there, but the defense left a lot to be desired. It takes incredible effort to stay connected to the hip of the offensive player. You’ve got to want to work. Now here’s Poris. He’s got five. Anthony outside and he got the whistle on the way up. So he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. Well, Cole Anthony mixing it up on the interior. Nice job drawing the contact. This guy is unafraid. The first one falls. Cole Anthony, a guy who has just tremendous feel for the game. He’s obviously been around it from the time he was very young. just understands where the ball should be at all times. Good passer, aggressive scoreer. Jiannis Ana Kmpo’s checked in for Milwaukee. Green comes in for Prince Homegrren. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Williams comes in for Caruso. And Anthony drops them both. Oklahoma City leading by four. Gilg Alexander passes to Hartinstein. Now homegrown and out of bounds. Milwaukee will have it. Here’s Milwaukee. They’re on a 14-6 run. [Applause] Anthony against Gilis Alexander. Anthony misses. Listen, he can make that shot right there, but I do know they have other options they can go to. Pass to Williams. Back to Dorton. Now here’s Homegrren [Applause] and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. They penned that one on Giannis Anakmpo. Well, Doris, Chad Homegrren was one of the more highly touted guys coming into the league in a long time. He was BA and he has lived up to the billing at that size to be able to shoot the ball, put it on the deck, be a force at the rim defensively, but maybe his best attribute, he is a tough competitor. That free throw good from Homegrren. You know, after sitting out his first pro year due to a foot injury, Chad Homegrren was well worth the wait, Grant. Yes, he was. And Chad was actually guarding LeBron during a summer proan game when he hurt his foot. But Chad was a monster his rookie year. Already an elite shot blocker. That one falls. So, he hits both of them. This is what makes him a challenge to stop. He will beat you from the floor and he can also beat you from the line. All right, let’s get a report from Ally. Hey Brian, the Thunder have some grit. Coach Mark Dagnald said, “We compete and on nights we aren’t. We get back to that very quickly. The competition level and the willingness to do it together is the foundational piece.” Brian. All right, Ally. Good stuff there. Thank you. Shot clock at two on ampo for three. Another miss. That makes him three for 10 so far. It’s stolen by Koosma. [Applause] Pass to Anthony. Koozma with the ball. Han Akmpo. A screen on Williams. Clock at six for three. Anthony Hartinstein pulls it in. Hardenstein’s got nine rebounds in the game. Boy, he’s getting it done. Here’s Williams. The three is up and Dort with the bucket on the assist from Williams. So Dorch got seven. Boy, Lou Dort was dialed in from distance. You give him that corner look, he’s taken it. They’re searching for a way to score. Yeah, buckets have been very tough to come by. Here’s Williams. Count it. Good. And just totally relentless, only increasing the intensity level. One thing I enjoy is watching players who don’t pay attention to the score. You lock in on the moment and play the right way. This will be his third free throw attempt of the game. A different look for Milwaukee. Turner. He’s checked in for Portoris. Trent comes in for Koozma. And it’s Porter Jr. in for Anthony Caruso. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. One shot. And the free throw no good. And so Porter will bring it up for the Bucks. 11-point game. Pass to Trent. [Applause] And here is Hanakmpo. [Applause] Now Green to halt the run. Oklahoma City grabs a miss. Homegrren’s got four rebounds now. Outside Williams. Back to Homegrren. Hardenstein with a screen on Turner. The three from Homegrren. Rebounded by Trent. Milwaukee has gone one of four from three-point land here in the second. Here’s Porter and a foul called on the way up. So, he’ll take two from the free throw line. And such a threat with the basketball. Porter Jr. who gets those fouls often. These are his first free throws of the game. Two shot. And the first one at the line is good. Wallace. He’s checked in for Chad Homegrren. We got this. We got this. Porter hits them both. [Applause] Thunder leading by nine. Pass to Dort and here’s Hartinstein. Turner covers, shoots from 12. Hartinstein, no good. Listen, we know the mid-range game is in this guy’s arsenal, but you wonder should he have moved it just one pass more. On to Koopo. Bam. Defense puts good pressure on Giannis inside, but he just refuses to back off and gets it to go. Williams against Green. Hardenstein with a screen on Green. Here’s Williams. [Applause] Honored to Koopo against Caruso driving inside. Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down and a solid pick to free him up for the dunk. Boy, the timing there couldn’t be any better. The execution was simply flawless. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you run that play. And that’s out of bounds. It was last touch by Porter. Listen, turnovers happen. You’ve got to move on to the next play. Oklahoma City leading by nine. Wallace. The pass to Dort. Caruso outside. Pass to Wallace. Williams on the wing. Green covering six to shoot. Hartinstein with a screen on Anen Kmpo connects from downtown and it’s a 12-point Thunder lead. Listen, this guy is not the most dangerous threat from there, but you have got to honor the shooting a little bit. Turner against Hartinstein. On to Kmpo. The pass to Turner. [Applause] Porter looks it over. Here’s the three. Oklahoma City grabs a miss. Hardenstein’s got doubledigit rebounds now in the game. Left side. Williams. Caruso against Trent. Hartinstein with a screen on Trent. And Hardenstein slams it in. Woo! Defensively, you can’t afford to let him get to the rim that easily. Well, that might be why their deficit is what it is right now. I’ll tell you, you can’t get stops if you’re unwilling to put in the work. Now, here’s an Kmpo. 12 points for him. Trent outside, gets the three ball to go. This guy is so comfortable from beyond the arc. You give Gary Trent Jr. a look from three and look out, folks. And there’s the call. It’s going to be an illegal screen. One of the trickier plays to judge, but it would be hard to argue against the call. It is really difficult to get your feet completely set, to stay completely still. It’s almost surprising to me that it isn’t called more often outside. Porter [Applause] pass to Turner uncovered and the Bucks getting another bucket right there. Well, this is the versatility that Miles Turner brings to the table. A big man who can knock down shots from the mid-range. Here’s Caruso. Oh, the Thunder tack on two more. Oh, tremendous lift on that shot. Not an easy score in the face of a much taller defender. Anakmpo finds Porter. Williams against Ankmpo to the paint and stolen by Hartinstein. And a fast break now for the Thunder. Rejected by Ana Kmpo. Trent with it. Watched by Wallace and he’ll take a trip to the line for two. Clearly got fouled on that shot. You know, for a swingman, Trent has good size and is a sturdy, strong presence to us. Oh, PA. He sure is. He can make an impact on the defensive end with the attributes you just talked about. Not only can he be a stopper though, let’s remember this guy can get hot as a shooter. You better look out. He can get on a heater. That one misses. What you love about Garrett Trent Jr., guys, is here here’s a guy who not only excels from the three-point line. Yes, he’s a consistent guy stretching the floor, but his fearlessness, his willing to take big shots in tight spots, that is something to behold. Good on the second one. [Applause] Now here’s Williams. He’s got seven. 8sec difference between the shot clock and game clock. [Applause] Wallace left side. Back to Williams [Applause] and there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Three trips to the line so far for him in this one. shooting two. The free throw drops for Williams. and Williams drops them both. 16 seconds left in the second period. [Applause] Ant Kmpo looking it over and the big finish by Yiannis. That’s what we call a power finish. There’s no such thing as gentle for the big man. Williams from long range. No good on the buzzer beater. And so it’s Oklahoma City ending the quarter up 10 just pounding the painted area that’s helped them build an advantage. Well, now we have some time to check in with Ally Leforce. Ally, thanks. I’m here with Doc Rivers and coach. I know you cannot be happy with this team’s play in the first half. What will you tell them they need to improve on? The score and our effort, our offense. They’re just playing harder. They’re more physical. They’re tougher. Honestly, we’re very lucky right now. Lots to improve on in the second half. Thanks, coach. Appreciate it, Ally. And we’ll be coming right back after this break. Ready for the third quarter. Heat. Heat. [Applause] And we’ve got third quarter basketball here. Two quarters in the books. It’s been a clinic out there by Giannis Ana Kmpo. And in the first half, he dominated in the post. He got the looks he wanted and was able to execute. It felt like his work on the interior really gave this offense a boost. Let’s see if he can dominate the rest of the way. Bucks trail by 10. Taking a look at Oklahoma City. Some serious height in the middle. Homegrren the four, Hardenstein the five. Gildas Alexander runs the point with Dor at the two and it’s Williams in at the three. The small forward Trent for three and it’s Homegrren with a rebound. Homegrren’s got five rebounds tonight. Pass to Williams. Back to Homegrren. Gildas Alexander on the wing. Dor outside. Homegrren with it. Five to shoot. Jacks up a three. Williams misses and it’s Green with the ball for the Bucks. Trailing by 10. Here’s an Akmpo. Rejected by Homegrren. That’s a big time rejection from Chad Homegrren making his defensive presence felt. [Applause] Gilis Alexander no good. The Bucks shooting only 39% so far in the game. Anakupo finds Turner and then Turner with the dunk and just a lack of fight right now on the defensive end. Right. At least on that slam it was that’s one way to let a team back in the game. Right. You could see on that possession, one side playing with a little desperation, the other side losing focus. Here’s Gilas Alexander following the score by Milwaukee and Turner with the block. Porter the pass to Anna Kmpo. Now here’s Turner. outside. Porter [Applause] Hardenstein against Turner, [Applause] the tear drop. Well, how about the ability to get that defender to bite on the pump fake. Turner so effective at getting guys to commit. It’s his first trip to the line. Shooting two. And that one falls for Turner. Well, Miles Turner has a lot of value in today’s NBA. This guy’s got length, athleticism, excellent shot blocker. He can space the floor with the ability to make those jumpers. No good on the second free throw. Thunder leading by seven. And now around two minutes gone by in this half. [Music] D with it. And it’s Trent picking him up and good as it takes a nice bounce off the right iron and down. Gilg Alexander’s got 13 outside. Green lets it go from deep. Oh, it’s blocked by Williams. Pass to Homegrren outside. Gilas Alexander. Homegrren with a screen on Porter from deep. Gil just Alexander. It’s Milwaukee with a rebound. Trent with room to shoot. Hartinstein pulls it in. Hardenstein’s got 13 rebounds in the game. Glass eating. SGA takes it himself. On a block down low outside for Porter. Pass to Trent. Turner. A screen on Dort. Here’s Trent. Homegrren with the block outside. Williams. Here’s Hardenstein. [Applause] Back to Williams. Hartinstein with a screen on Porter. And Hardenstein slams it in. Time out. Time out. Slams it down with two hands. Man, they’re really getting aggressive now. And Doc Rivers calls timeout. Coach wants to speak to his guys. Maybe alter some of the game plan. The Bucks trail by 11. Trent outside Porter with a screen on Dort. Trent for three. Gil just Alexander with a rebound. Yeah, and the defense has really got to tighten up on him. I mean, he’s just too dangerous from the three-point line. Offensive rebound. Hardenstein and Hartinstein slams it in. Oh my, what a display of effort. That’s his bread and butter, right? Chasing down the boards. What about the decisive finish? Great timing, tremendous force. And look at Giannis using his length inside, allowing him to beat the contact and get the finish. Homegrren with a screen on an AKmpo to the inside. Homegrren the pass to Hartinstein. Outside Gilas Alexander shot clock at six. SGA from distance. The shake Gildas Alexander so dangerous in pick and roll. He’s he’s going to keep you off balance because he can score it or facilitate. Porter finds Green [Applause] right wing and they double up on it to Kmpo pass to Porter and then Turner with the dunk and this is why Miles Turner is such a high percentage scorer. You combine length, athleticism, and basketball skills. Good luck with that defense. Now here’s Gilis Alexander. He’s got 16 now. Here’s Dort and the foul on Gary Trim. That’s his first foul. Caruso, he’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Williams against Green. puts it up from 17 and the shot falls short that time and this is a shot he can definitely make and the defense not a factor at all and the foul is called. He missed it so he’s got a couple of free throws coming his way. It’s going to be on Alex Caruso. Boy, it takes more than tight defense to bother Gary Trent Jr. and it works out well for him with a trip to the foul line. and a moment to look at the scoring approach in terms of where the points are coming from for Oklahoma City. Their hot shooting from long distance has been the key. Spacing the floor and rising up with that confidence. You know what else has been important is they’ve been focused and they have gotten themselves to the line, made their free throws, doing all the little things. That’s good from Trent. Trent hits them both. And it’s Caruso with the ball for the Thunder. They’ve led by as many as 14. Gilis Alexander. A screen on Porter. Caruso. The pass to Williams. Gilis Alexander against Hardo. And he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. Let’s remember Shay Gil just Alexander is 6 foot six. So getting on the interior is not a problem. [Applause] And he knocks down the first one. both free throws good from Gilis Alexander. So it’s Milwaukee now a 12-point game. Trent on the wing fires for three. nails it from three. Trent’s got nine. No hesitation whatsoever from Trent Jr. His mind is always thinking shot. Williams finds Gilas Alexander. Williams with the screen. Fires from deep. Rebounded by the Bucks. Turner’s got nine rebounds in the game. Boy, he’s getting it done. And he gets it to go as they call the foul. He’s on his way to the line for one more. The long strides of Giannis help him get down the court fast. A lethal player in transition. So far tonight, he’s gone four of six at the line. Cole Anthony, he’s checked in for Porter Jr. Find the lanes. Behind the lane. One shot. and that one misses. Oklahoma City leading by seven. Dort for three and that comes off the assist by Gilis Alexander. He’s got 10. Well, for Lou Dort, it’s all about building confidence from three-point territory. This is a growing part of his skill set. Pass to Trent over to the left wing. Out of bounds, the Thunder will take it. Bobby Poris has checked in for the Bucks. Here’s Gilas Alexander. 18 points for him. Outside Williams. [Applause] Wow. Incredible. And a twohanded jam. And we see the speed and power. I mean, Williams shows off on that one. Bucks trail by 12. Anthony with it. He’s got six outside. Green shoots from the line. Oklahoma City grabs a miss. Williams with it. Green picks him up. Gilis Alexander passes to Williams over Green and Williams gets the bucket on the assist by Gilis Alexander. Well, Shay Gilis Alexander facilitating for his team right now. What a pretty pass. Portoris outside. Turner. A screen on Williams. Portoris for three. Hartinstein pulls it in. Oklahoma City leading by 14. To the paint. deflects the pass. Poris with the steel outside. Green and here’s Anthony. Trent outside. Back to Anthony. Turner. A screen on Gilas Alexander inside to stop the run. Turner. No good for Oklahoma City. They’ve gotten seven of 15 shots to hit in this second half. Kept alive. Williams. And that’s a foul called on Isaiah Hartinstein. That’s his fourth foul of the contest. Koozmas checked in for Milwaukee. Prince comes in for Trent. Bucks trail by 14. Pass to Prince. [Applause] Oh, and he took a hard foul on the shot. So he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. One of the hardest things to deal with with Tori and Prince is trying to match his energy. This guy goes all out every time. He’s gone two for two at the line so far. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And he makes a first. [Applause] Got to get it. Let’s get And so he hits both. And Williams has got the ball here for Oklahoma City. door outside. Back to Williams. The three ball. Anthony grabs the board. Anony’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Turner a screen on Caruso. Pass to Turner. Here’s Prince. Watched by Wallace. Turner. A screen on Dort. Here’s Turner. Just three to shoot. Got a hand on it and he stays with it. Here’s Caruso. Seven points in the game. And the layup is good off the glass. Caruso’s got nine points. And the defense has no one to blame but themselves. I mean, they just let him get right to the rim. To me, this has simply stated been a complete lack of defensive attention and focus all night long. Now here’s Koozma three-pointer. Anthony, he drops it from range. Nine points in the game. You love Cole Anony’s attitude. So confident, so willing to fire on the catch. Wallace outside. Caruso against Prince. Caruso. The pass to Wallace. Williams with the screen from outside the ark. Wallace misses. The Bucks trail by 11. Well, OKC has a great track record with their draft picks and it seems like they got another one in Case Wallace. Wallace was the 10th pick in 2023. He’s going to give you great physical pressure defense on the perimeter and then he’s going to play to his strength offensively. OKC rarely misses with their draft picks and they didn’t on this guy. Back to Williams. The rebound by Turner with the defense absent. That was a great opportunity, but no go. Pass to Prince. Knocked away. Stolen by Caruso. Here’s Wallace. Tipped. And we’ve got 118 left in the third. Koozma finds Prince. Koozma outside. No good on the triple. Thunder leading by 11. Dort the pass to Williams. And the bucket is good. Williams has got six here in the quarter. And he is stronger than he looks. Trust me. I mean Williams has the bulk to win those tough battles inside. Pass to Prince. 41 seconds left in the third quarter for three. Pure from three-point range. Prince has got seven points. Defensively, you can’t afford to get stuck on the pick. You know exactly what that takes. It takes energy. It takes activity. It takes intensity. Now, here’s Williams. He’s got 15. Just showing some tremendous authority controlling the boards. Love it. Wow. What a performance. And he’s not just winning with physical ability, he’s winning with anticipation. It’s Milwaukee with a rebound. Portis has got five rebounds in the game. Koozma for three. No good. Would have counted had it gone. And so it’s Oklahoma City earning this break in the action. Up 10. Their play has earned them a nice lead. one they’ll look to build on as the game continues. Time for a quick break, then back to the action. And a worthy candidate tonight as we take a look at our State Farm assist of the game. And I’ll tell you what, this was a nobrainer tonight. Take a look at the precision on this feed. Couldn’t place it any better. And when you’re the beneficiary of a pass that good, you better deliver. And he did just that. The fourth quarter has arrived. So good to have you with us. Cole Anthony out there with Tory and Prince. Then it’s Bobby Portoris. Then it’s Smith. And it’s Koozma in at the small forward position. That’s the five on the floor for the Bucks. No one covering now. Anthony. Portoris outside. Tipped away. Prince the pass to Portoris. Uses the glass on the layup. Got it in deep. And that’s how you do it. And it’s the Thunder with the ball. They’ve led by as many as 14. Gilas Alexander. A screen on Prince outside. Gilis Alexander. Burries it from three. Gilis Alexander’s got 21 points in the game. Well, that’s an opportunistic three-point shot from Shay Gilis Alexander. He liked the look of it. To the middle. Here’s Portoris and then Portoris with the dunk and just a great screen and they got a high powered finish out of it. My question is where was the help? Someone rotate over and challenge. Now here’s Caruso over to the wing. Here’s Jen. Sinks that one from the post and the Thunder lead by 13. Good possession there. Exactly the way they drew it up. Anthony against Gilis Alexander. An open look for Poris and it’s Milwaukee scoring again. Well, it’s excellent recognition from Cole Anthony, but how about your offense working to get a man that wide open pretty Oklahoma City leading by 11. Joe up top pass to Gilas Alexander. Ow. floats one up. It’s deflected. Anthony outside. [Applause] Koozma outside. Shoots over Caruso. It’s Koozma with the miss. I think he’s gone completely dry. Nothing is hitting. And this is where you hope that he can find something easy so he can see the ball go through the net. Now here’s Anthony driving in and a miss there with a chance to cut the lead to single digits. The Thunder have got three of six shots to go in this fourth quarter. Caruso the pass to Gilis Alexander outside Joe. They set the pick. Three-pointer. The Thunder with another miss. He didn’t make them pay for that weak defense, but they just can’t rely on him to miss those kind of shots. And it’s Koozma finishing it off. Throw down from Kyle Koosma. A level of aggression. Thunder leading by nine. A bit under three and a half minutes have passed here in the fourth. the baseline Jay. A nice shot by Gilas Alexander. Gilg Alexander’s got 23. Shay Gil Alexander that threelevel scoring ability that time working the mid-range. There’s the screen by Koozma. Here’s Smith. Yep. Right through the net. And so it’s Caruso who brings up the ball for Oklahoma City. Gildas Alexander on the wing. Pass to Jen. Here’s Joe. Sinks the tray. Joe’s got five points now in the quarter. You have to show more effort defensively. Everyone knows he can do that from deep. Well, to me, that’s just inexcusable. You start to wonder how much they really want this basketball game. And the Bucks making a change here. Jackson has checked in. Williams has checked in for Oklahoma City. Lou Dord comes in for Joe. Oklahoma City leading by 12. Now here’s Dort left side. Gildas Alexander. Blocked. Koozma against Dort. Koozma with the ball. [Applause] And so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. Lou Dort picks one up. Koozma has the size and the length to challenge defenders on the interior. Nice job drawing the whistle there. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. No good on that one. So Milwaukee going with almost an entirely new group here. Turner, he’s checked in for Portoris. Anakmpo comes in for Smith. Green’s checked in for Jackson. And it’s Porter Jr. in for Anthony. And he can’t make the second free throw either. He missed them both. Oklahoma City leading by 12. Here’s Gilis Alexander. Strong finish by Gilis Alexander. Yeah, teams will try to get physical with SGA, but make sure you understand that wiry frame is big time strong. Pass to Kmpo. Hey, expanding his range. Cash assisting on the play was Porter. Porter’s got three assists in the game and he’s coming off a huge performance and his confidence couldn’t be any higher and his coach knows that, too. Well, the best players to me deliver night night after night after night. So, as long as he’s hot, keep riding it. On the wing, Green. And another three for Milwaukee. Just a selfless play by Giannis. He knows all eyes are on him, so he dishes to a ready shooter. Green against Caruso. Dort the pass to Gilg Alexander. [Applause] Back to Dorf. Pass to Jen from deep. Anakoupo grabs the board. On Koopo’s got five rebounds in the game. Koozma outside. And here’s Turner. Anakmpo outside. And Kmpo with the jam. And I’ll tell you, this thing looked pretty much over heading into the fourth, but give them a lot of credit for fighting their way back. Pass to Jen and he lobbs it up top and the lead increases on a crazy offensive sequence. Man, the dunk alone would have been incredible, let alone the fact that it came off a pinpoint pass. Outside Porter now Green down low and it’s Koozma finishing it off. They’ve been aggressive during this run but they’ve also played under control. I think the communication on offense is working at every level right now. What a run for this group. Now here’s Gilis Alexander [Applause] rebounded by the Bucks. Turner’s got 14 rebounds tonight going after it. Pass to an Kmpo. Turner. A screen on Dort. Oh, don’t let Giannis in. And you can see early on that Giannis wanted to be aggressive. I mean, he’s taken over at the offensive end. And we’ve got a timeout called by Mark Dagno. He’s looking to make some very important adjustments here. [Applause] Trent, he’s checked in for Koosma. Let’s go now to the sideline and catch up with Alli Leforce. Hi guys. Well, Mark Dagnel was just reviewing the plan with his team. He was clapping in the huddle, saying to his guys, loving the effort right now, keep the intensity on them. Leave no doubt in their mind that this game is ours, guys. Back to you. Great work, Ally. Thanks, Dort for three, knocks it down from distance and the Thunder lead by seven. Being ready on the catch, such an important skill and Luke Dort’s confidence really starting to grow. Pass to Kmpo. Turner. A screen on Homegrren. Turner with it. There’s the triple and it’s Homegrren with a rebound. Homegrren’s got his sixth rebound on the night. Now Dort guarded by Trent. Back to Homegrren outside. Gilas Alexander. Homegrren with a screen on on Kmpo from deep. Gilas Alexander. Rebounded by Trent. The Bucks trail by seven. Out to the wing. Holiday against Dort. fades away. Gilchess Alexander with a rebound. Gilis Alexander’s got four rebounds now to the wing on the left. Homegrren finds Gilas Alexander. Now here’s Williams. Back to Dort. Pass to Gilas Alexander. Six to shoot. [Applause] You’re going to dance. [Applause] [Applause] And the first one at the line is good. And he makes the first but misses the second. And so it’s on a Kmpo with it. He brings it up for the Milwaukee Bucks. Trailing by eight. Porter the pass to Green. Porter with a screen on Homegrren. Green for three. Oklahoma City grabs a miss. Gilg Alexander’s got five rebounds in the game. Homegrren. That one doesn’t drop. Good D by Anakmpo. Milwaukee has gone two of four from the perimeter here in the fourth quarter. Trent the pass to Anakmpo. Dor against Green. Here’s Ana Kmpo. Oh, strong move from Yiannis inside with a tough road ahead. They worked hard to get a good shot. Gilis Alexander against Kmpo outside. Gilis Alexander. [Applause] And a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. Well, what a pump fake by Shay. Gil just Alexander gets the defender committed and he’ll go to the foul line. First free throw is good. Both free throws good from Gilas Alexander. Bucks trail by eight. Here’s an Ampo. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’s going to go on Chad Homegrren. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. He drops the first one and that narrows the gap to seven. Push on the miss. Let’s push on the miss. And so on Kmpo nails both of them. And those were big shots. At this point in the game, you can’t afford to leave any points at the line. Williams on the wing. Green covering and Kevin Porter picks up the foul. That’s his first foul of the game. And it’s time to take another look at that powerful block. Yeah, I love that they maintain the defensive energy even when they’re behind. Long range from the inbound. Rebound. Milwaukee. And he probably thought he was going to bury that one. An akmpo outside. And there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’s going to go on Shay Gilis Alexander. No debate there. He he got hammered. shooting two rebound rebound. Big rebound. Let’s get it. Get it. Get it. Good on the first and that brings him within five. [Applause] second free throw. No good that time. He really wanted that one. And trying to cut into this deficit. Tough to leave any points on the table. Oo, took him no time at all to get that one. Gilgis Alexander’s got 31 points. Here’s an Akmpo. [Applause] Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. So, the first one drops and that narrows the gap to seven. [Applause] up. And he makes both free throws. Oklahoma City leading by six. And it’s Gilas Alexander on the drive over on an Ampo. The kick out to Williams from deep. Gilis Alexander. The rebound by Turner. Milwaukee has gone two of four from the perimeter here in the fourth quarter. Here’s an Ampo. The value of good ball movement isn’t lost on this squad. And here’s Gilis Alexander. He’ll bring it up for Oklahoma City. They’ve led by as many as 14. [Applause] And Turner with the block. And here is Hondao. Yes. And he’s brought them within two points now. You talk about stepping up in a big way. I’ll tell you, it takes toughness to pull the trigger in that situation. You love guys who relish the moment. Now here’s Dor Gil Alexander from outside. Oh, he buried the three. SGA, that’s Shay Gil Alexander to you. Big time clutch delivery and Doc Rivers calls timeout. He is not messing around. Calling them into the huddle. [Applause] [Applause] 26 seconds left to play in the fourth. The drive by Anna Kmpo. Let me tell you, on the drive, Giannis is troubled. He takes it right into the defense and gets fouled in the act. The Thunder making a switch here. Caruso is checked in. [Applause] Shooting two. [Applause] He gets the first and that shrinks the margin to just four. [Applause] and the second free throw. No good. Tough break there. Just a tough miss at the line. They’re down two baskets now. Getting a little desperate at this stage. I mean, the clock’s the big factor. First free throw is good. And that puts him up five. Second one is good. Getting both at the line. And it’s a six-point ball game. He doesn’t waste a chance to pad their lead. It’s been some solid free throw shooting. Timeout called. Milwaukee. They’re losing by six. Turning here to our analyst. What elements become the primary keys at this point? They need to answer fast. Well, preferably a three, right? If there’s a clean look, take it. [Applause] pass to Porter. Here’s Turner and he buries it. And now they trail by just four. And they’re going to prolong the game with an intentional foul. Two shots. and no good as the first free throw misses. We’ll see if he can hit the second. Have a second of two is good. And that puts him up five. 15 seconds left in the game. Porter from outside. Oh, he knocked down the trifecta. And we’ve got a timeout called by Mark Dagno. Critical moment here. He’s not taken any chances. 7 seconds left in the final quarter and they stop the clock as soon as they can with the intent. intentional foul. Yeah, and there’s no question they have to foul. Now, I’m sure they would have preferred to avoid it. [Applause] He hits the first one and that makes it a three-point lead. [Applause] He’s off on the free throw, unable to get the second one to drop. And there’s only one option. They need a triple. You’ve got to keep your composure and execute to get a quality look from three. And so it’s the Thunder who come out on top here with the late victory. They upset plenty of these hometown fans. They really should take this win to heart. When the pressure was on, they stepped up and worked twice as hard to overcome it. All right, let’s send it down to Alli Leforce who’s with our player of the game. Shay, you were using those long arms to be disruptive on the defensive end. What’s your focus at that end of the floor? Um, I’m just trying to be as active as possible. Um, and like you said, uh, getting my length involved, something I’ve been blessed with and I just want to use it. That activity, that length was noticed. Congratulations, Ally. Thank you as always. And that about wraps it up for Ali Leforce, Grant Hill, and Doris Burke. I’m Brian Anderson saying thanks for tuning in. And now time for our player of the game, Shay Gilgis Alexander.
