Lakers Trade Update on Dalton Knecht! | NEW Trade Value Report + Knecht’s Lakers Role Outlook!
Following a rough summer league for Dalton Connect, it definitely didn’t help his image and both fans and reporters alike have jumped on that opportunity. After Summer League, many fans have not been happy with him. Even want him traded from the team and pretty much want nothing to do with him. Even reporters have said that his trade value has taken a hit from Yoan Buha saying that don’t think connects trade value took a massive hit after some league and teams around the league no longer view him as a first on draft pick though. Is that actually true here? And should the Lakers give up on him even at a potentially lower trade value? And is that trade value even correct? Well, according to a new report from Dan Wilkkey of the Athletic, it’s not correct. According to him, he said that I won’t go too in-d depth on Daltton Connect other than to say that I think NBA valuators haven’t put much stock into his summer league performance. Therefore, kind of contradicting previous reports saying that his trade value took a massive hit and that he might be worth the same that he was last season despite the rough summer league performance, which would obviously be a good thing for the Lakers. I mean, whether or not they want to trade him, they don’t want his trade value going down over time. that would obviously hurt them if they would choose to trade him and put him in a trade to get a better trade asset or better player in return for him or through that said trade package or even if they want to keep him and try to improve upon that trade value. Obviously, better to start higher than lower. So, whatever it might be, the Lakers want his trade value to be higher, want Dolan Connect to be viewed as valuable around the NBA and to be able to build off of that, not have to rebuild it from the ground up, which I personally don’t think it should be that low to begin with. So with that in mind here, given that this report’s true and teams actually do value Daltton connect fairly highly yet, maybe not as much compared to his hot season start last season, maybe kind of somewhere in the middle between that hot start and kind of a rough end to it. Maybe factoring in summer league a little bit. Should they trade him even though it’s not his highest trade value? Or should they keep him and potentially try to raise his value back up and maybe try to help him grow and develop throughout this season? We’ll talk about that and try to break it all down here. Going through both the pros and cons of trading Daltton Connect to keeping Daltton Connect and potentially what he could be for their team and maybe in the rotation this season. And well, I guess beginning with that last part, talking about the rotation and if Dolphin Connect’s even in it. You know, that’s definitely up for debate here. Whether you want to say they’ll run a 9, 10, or 11man rotation, that would ultimately depend on if Dolan Connect will be in there and if he’ll be a part of the rotation. And let’s say that they run a nine or 10 man rotation, then I’d say that he probably won’t be in there, at least not their every game rotation and probably will be more matchup dependent at that point. I mean, we’re obviously going to put the five of Luca, Austin, Ruie, LeBron, and DeAndre Aton in the rotation. So that’s five. Then adding in Marcus Smart, Jake Lavia, Jared Vanderbilt, probably even Jackson Hayes for the every rotation, that’s already nine of them. Then probably having to include Gabe Vincent, that’s 10. So after that point, Daltton Connect probably then becomes 11. Maybe kind of a 10 interchangeably between himself and Gabe Vincent, but even that’s up for debate here and definitely will be a battle between them. So unfortunately for him, he kind of is on the outside looking in at this current moment. Now that definitely could change over time and wouldn’t even take that much time for him to change it. even with a strong training camp and showing that he’s more committed to playing defense, maybe even improved on defense and showing more commitment on that end of the court, which JJ Regg has talked about with him and that being the primary thing that he wants to see more from Dalton Connect. That might be enough to kind of jump him over a guy like Gay Vincent or maybe expand the rotation from 910 to then 11 putting Dalton Connect in their every game rotation at least give him more consistent playing time. That might be all it takes for him. And again, with JJ Reic liking him with them kind of sharing the background of three-point shooting ability and Reic being able to relate to him and really help him with that. I think that Reic definitely wants to put him in there. You know, he obviously won’t over prioritize him and again put him above guys like Marcus Smart or Jake Dravia, but I think he would ideally like to have Dalton connect in the rotation. Again, obviously not going to over prioritize him, but I think Reic would like to have him in there and would definitely welcome him to the rotation if he can show improvement and more consistent ability on the court, really on both ends of the court, too. However, with that in mind here, again, there’s obviously not a consistent pathway for Dolan Connect, barring him showing major improvement and showing that he has much more to offer compared to somebody ahead of him at this current moment. again whether it be Gabe Vincent, Jake Arabia, so on and so forth. That’s obviously not a clear pathway to playing time for him and not a clear pathway to consistent playing time either. So they obviously can’t over prioritize him whether you’re talking about the rotation or potentially including Daltton connecting a trade as you can never completely write that off here. Now reports have said that they’re not actively looking to make a trade. definitely not engaging in any kind of trade talks at the moment, but you never know with the NBA and with different trades happening around the NBA. If one happens, then that could create a domino effect. Maybe some veteran player gets moved to a team that doesn’t want him and therefore puts him on the trade block. That could be an opportunity that then gets Lakers back active in trade talk. Maybe with Daltton Connect not having a clear pathway to playing time and not a clear pathway to the rotation, then they might think about including him in a trade. You know, at that point, I think it would be up for debate, but with him currently being their best trade asset, that’s really not in the rotation, their kind of best young player asset, apart from, I guess, if you want to talk about Austin Reeves or Rui Hatimra, a recently drafted player that does have some semblance of trade value yet. Obviously, they can’t trade a duo yet. Bronny doesn’t have much trade value. So, pointing to Daltton Connect here, I think that would be the most likely young player for them to trade. Kind of the most likely player in general for them to trade that has trade value. So, while I definitely wouldn’t write it off completely here, I don’t find it very likely to happen in general. Yes, I would call him the most likely or probably the most likely player to be traded from their team with trade value, but that doesn’t mean I find it likely for him to be traded. I mean, if you’re going to trade Daltton Connect, then you’re likely not going to trade Daltton Connect alone here. If you don’t know, the Lakers are hardcapped to the first apron. And with him only being 1 million below the first apron, that means they can take back very little money in return through a trade, which doesn’t give them much leeway in a dolphin connect trade. I mean, with him having a salary of only 4 million, that means you got to trade him for a player that’s making less than 5 million, and that really does limit your options. Barring them finding another Mark Williams type trade, which I don’t think they’re going to try to make again, then they’re only going to be able to trade for a minimum contract player, a player on their rookie contract, that’s a late first on draft pick or a second round draft pick. And that does leave them with many options through a Dolan Connect trade. So then if you’re talking about expanding that trade, that means trading Daltton Connect with a Gabe Vincent, Maxi Cleba, Jared Vanderbilt, Rui Hatimura, and then at that point we’re not simply talking about a Daltton Connect trade. So, you got to realize what they’re dealing with here through a trade and especially through a Daltton Connect trade. If you’re only trying to trade Daltton Connect, then you have very limited options and it’s probably not worth it at that point. Then, if you’re talking about expanding the trade, that means trading a likely rotation player from their team. Either again a Vincent, Cleba, Vanderbilt, Hachimura, maybe even Austin Reeves, then again, we’re not simply talking about a Dolan Connect trade. So, it really does complicate it at that point. it’s probably not worth it to trade Daltton Connect given that even though it value is not that that low and not what reports said it might be. It’s still not very high right now and definitely not near its peak and probably won’t be enough to get them a great trade asset in return, a great player in return. If you’re talking about trading just do connect or another player with him that doesn’t have much trade value either. So, in my opinion, probably for the time being, there’s more upside to keeping Dolan Connect, trying to either rebuild his trade value, rebuild his actual onc court value, and trying to actually make him better and develop him with their team. I think there’s more upside to doing that rather than immediately looking for a trade for him at this current moment. Now, again, that certainly could change around the trade deadline. Maybe at that point, they have a bigger need on their team that can’t be filled by Dalton Connect, whether it’s due to injury or a skill set need that can’t be filled by him. then we could revisit that conversation at that point. But for this current moment again, I think there’s more upside to keeping him, trying to develop him, and make him better for their team rather than for a different team. And with his current trade value, even though reports say that it might not be as bad as previous reports say, I’d still look to keep him for the time being. But with all of that being said, what do you guys think? How do you feel about the reports that kind of dictate his trade value? and do you think it’s been affected or that there has been little to no effect from his sum performance and rather poor summary performance? And then on top of that, what would you do with Dolan Connect? Would you be looking to trade him, develop him, keep him, only keep him temporarily, and maybe try to trade him again at the trade deadline? What would you do with him? Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below. But I think that’ll pretty much do it for this one. Where do you think Knecht's value should really be at? And would you keep him or trade him with that in mind? Comment down below!
Thanks for watching! Don't forget to drop a like + subscribe for more content 🙂
Keep him, he’s a shooter but play him more. I’d play him over vando/gabe
This is crazy! He is damn rookie give him chance to develop no wonder the lakers will ever be like the thunder building through the draft it’s one two three kick your young assets away Austin Reeves included
I like DK over AR but what do we know 😂🤷♂️
Pls move Rui Vando Gabe Maxi and Dalton for 2 way guys please!
I cant believe fans want to keep Rui Vando and DK they don’t fit u need 2 WAY PLAYERS! Rui cant guard nothing he a 4 and Luka and Bron guard similar positions. Leaving Rui on an island outta position. Vando is a pure defender and not good on offense. DK is an older rookie and isn’t good on defense. Lakers need to get 2-3 legit 3/D wings and maybe a back up center. Gabe and Maxi must go too!
why is it that rui being a scoring forward can get pt but dk who’s a scoring forward can’t even get bench minutes
KEEP HIM AND TRADE REEVES!!!
LIES…
Heres some names we should remember: Julius Randle, D'Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Mortiz Wagner, Larry Nance Jr Josh Hart, Thomas Bryant, Kyle Kuma, Zubac, Talen Hunter Tucker, Max Christie, Jalen Hood Schifino. These are the draft choices the Lakers have acquired via the draft, with two of them returning to team after being traded. Imo the Lakers need to start to emphasize young players and coach them up, case being opposed to trading draft picks for veteran players. Look no further than the Oklahoma Thunder, you can be successful via the draft with the right selections and good coaching
Fake news. Report this.
dalton can shoot he needs to work on his defense lakers need to believe in him that trade fucked him
up
Another he says and another her says again.
He is the best shooter on the team
dk is interesting dude is hard to find a talented dude with 8 to 10 attempt 3pt ppg a game he is 3 level scorer and underrated off ball scorer is just that jj didnt find time to make a play for dk after luca doncic trade they should have set him up like jj reddick type dude or klay thompson role like they need to pud screen navigator to make him wide open dude will probably be beast next season lakers will not easily gave up on him he is still in rookie deal
He should avoid taking it all the way to the bucket, just pull up and take a short jumper. So just rely on three-pointers and short jumpers preferably in the key
No playing time.
Get this dude off the team already. It’s obvious there’s not a big enough role for him 😴
Hes better than Vincent…
he young athletic can shoot pass on go head
