Lakers & Nets Trade For Terance Mann & Haywood Highsmith Makes Sense

Lakers & Nets Trade For Terance Mann & Haywood Highsmith Makes Sense

What’s going on everyone? So, the Los Angeles Lakers I think should call up the Brooklyn Nets and try to see if they could make a type of trade. Talked about uh when we got the announcement of the Miami Heat as well as the Brooklyn Nets uh and they’re basically salary dump to the Nets. Miami sending uh Haywood uh Highmith to the Brooklyn Nets uh basically in a salary dump trade, right? Well, now Brooklyn has Highmith who 6’5 long, you know, seven foot wingspan, 3ND style guard wing. You can saw it in basically two or three can defend one through three for you, right? Lakers are interested in guys like Matise thy bowl, stuff like that. Highmith would give you that other player. He’d give you that other piece. So, just gives you that defensive versatility in that regard. Guy that you can start in the pinch, bring off the bench. I kind of look at him more in just the rotation, not necessarily a starter, but a guy that could slot in, come off the bench and be that versatile kind of 3 and D guard wan for you. You know, you I mean, if you were to trade a Gabe Vincent or something, you could slot in a Marcus Smart with a Highmith and you’re in business, right? Jake Laavia, Jared Vanderbelt, whomever, right? Really start to round out the depth of this roster. But the Brooklyn Nets have several other pieces. I mean, you could go kind of like the the backup center route, go try to get a couple pieces, you know, try to, you know, maybe do a Don Sharp at some point or, you know, even like a Zair Williams if they end up keeping High Smith or something. But, you know, that’d be more later on down the road. But, if you wanted to do something right now, I would wouldn’t even hate going and trying to go after like a a Terrence man, right? Gives you a guy, you know, another 66 versatile forward that could saw it in at the, you know, two through four for you. um can defend. Again, multiple positions for you. Uh he’s still both guys are still young enough. Both guys will be 29 in Highmith and Terrence Man. Um talking with Terren Man and his kind of contract. He the the problem with Terrence man and I don’t really think it’s a problem, but it like the Lakers would look at it that way. Um he his contract extends into that 2027 season where the Lakers don’t want to have cap space. They want to preserve the cap space. So that could be the kind of one hiccup, but he’s making 15.5 million this year, 15.5 million next, and then 16 million in 2027, 2028. So it’s not a contract that has like this huge, you know, growth over the years. But you’re talking about again another versatile 3 and D Wayne that you can plug in, bring in, play multiple positions, defend multiple positions. Like if you could bring in a Terrence man and a highmith, right? That gives you again two versatile just defensive pieces to slot in and you’re talking, you know, with him and his 15 Terrence man and his 15.5 million and then um you know, you add in a high smith and he’s making like 5.6. Let’s call it 5.7. Um so you’re talking 20, let’s call it 22 million roughly that you’d have to you’d have to send out, right? Okay. Well, you could do Maxi Clea and Gabe Vincent, right? And if you wanted to, they’re willing to take on salary. We just saw them do it. They need to They have a ton of cap space, right? So, but they also want the flexibility. They also want to clear as much salary as possible, right? We’re doing you a favor. We’re taking on Terrence man and his 15 million. What if you could do a Gabe Vincent, Maxi Cleba, and Dalton Connect, right? No picks, no nothing. Like just because again, we’re taking on Terrence man and his cap space. You’re getting, you know, a two veteran guys that you could trade and also clear salary off your books, right? But you’re also getting a young player in a Daltton Connect who could come in and be a piece and he’s making, you know, 5 million a year or whatever, right? So, we’re clearing, you know, basically four three years, 40, what is it, 44 million or something like that off your books, right? Which again has that value, especially for a team in Brooklyn that wants to just shed as much salary as possible. The reason they were willing to take on salary in the Miami trade is because he’s an expiring contract. Well, so is Gabe Vincent. So is Maxi Cleba. Throw in a Dalton Connect. If you want to throw in a pick swap or say your second round pick, say you did a 20 32 second round pick, fine. Right? Because now again, now not only did you land a Terren man that gives you a 66 versatile defensive piece that can defend one through three for you and on many occasions the four, but you also do the same thing in a in a highmith that gives you again that versatility that you’re looking for. And now you got two kind of key defensive pieces that can, you know, play and saw it in in multiple positions, but you also clear a salary spot and you clear, you know, 4 million in salary cap space. So now you have the money to fill your 15th roster spot and your 14th roster spot, right? Because you do a three for two trade. So not only do you do which the Lakers have been looking for, the Lakers have been looking for that consolidation trade. They’ve been looking for that salary filler trade, but like I’ve talked about, I don’t want to see the Lakers just shed salary just to shed salary, right? I want to see them do it through the the the thick of things, right? Like I don’t want to give up Gabe Vincent, have to give up a a second round pick or something like that in order to clear it, right? Like I’d rather, hey, let’s get a highmith. Let’s get a Trey man. Now you have two versatile defensive kind of wings that can defend multiple positions for you. Slaw in off the bench, they could start whatever. You still keep Rui Hachimura, you still keep all your key core pieces, right? Uh Highmith is an is an expiring contract still. So if that trade ends up presenting itself later on down the road where you want do want to trade Ruie or something like that, you could easily pull that off and do it. Right. Trade uh Terren Man, right? Terren man would be an expiring in that 2027 season which also having 16 million on your books I don’t think is the end of the world right because chances are you’re probably going to have to trade for a Giannis or Jokic I’ve talked about that right at some point you’re probably like the likelihood of those guys actually hitting free agency is very slim very slim right and real so realistically you’re probably going to have to trade for those guys and you’re probably going to need salary filler in order to do so you’re probably going to need some even if you are willing to absorb most of the contract if not some of it you you could always trade Darren’s man Darren’s man Austin Reeves whatever and you’re going to have to pay Austin Reeves you’re going to have to pay all these guys it’s why I don’t really buy the Lakers are trying to preserve the salary cap because if works for you guess what you’re paying if um Austin Reeves is going to get 30 plus million next year if Jake Loravia works for you he’s getting paid right are you just you really going to just let Ruy Hachimura walk like it’s just Lakers are going to to what like you know to having Terren man on the contract again. Try to win now. If you want to trade Terren man next season, try trade him next season. Figure it out next season when he has a year off his books. Like what if you win the championship? Run it back. Like to me again if if there’s an opportunity that’s there that you could make and take. I don’t want to see the Lakers t reject it on a maybe, right? like going and trading for Terrence man by himself at 15.5 million again doesn’t really make a ton of sense right it’s like okay like what are you going to do because you’d have you’d have to do something like you’d either have to like trade Ruie to get the salary dump or you’d have to you know do like even if you did a Dalton a Dalton or I guess Gabe Vincent and a Dalton connect right could get you there get you slightly over but you’re only clearing like half a million off your books right so you still don’t have enough money to sign to guys So, right now, you know, as it stands, pun intended, right? Like, you you can’t even like just go trade for Terence Bank because he’s kind of in that like he’s he’s on that middle contract, but Lakers don’t have like a middle contract to to salary match. All their contracts kind of more towards the bottom or in in Ruy’s case, you got that higherend contract, and you’re not trading like an Austin Reeves or something like that for Terrence, man. But now you add in a highmith who he’s making, you know, a smaller in contract at 5.6 million, just under 5.7. Let’s just call it 5.7 million. Now you can get to where you can trade Gabe Vincent, you can trade Maxi Cleba, right? And then also add in a Dalton Connect, right? And now you’ve got you adding in two defensive 3 and D style wings on top of clearing salary space on top of opening up a roster spot to bring in a Nicole Vousvich if he gets bought out right to where now and he might have more incentive to do that or an Al Horford right you could go to Al Horford right and be like dude you’re waiting around for the Warriors and who knows when they’re going to do what they’re going to do we have an open roster spot right now that you could come in, fill in, and we can go right. Look at what look at this team now. Look at this roster now. We got multiple defensive versatile guards and wins, a bunch of, you know, 65, 66 versatile with high lawn wings spans, right? Like that’s the difference. So again, if I’m the Lakers, I I think that that’s something that is worth looking into. I think that that is something that I would be I would be very interesting or interested in trying to see if you could maybe pull that type of move off to consolidate and bring in some of these guys, right? Did a whole video on Highmith, right? So, I I won’t go like too crazy in Highmith, but real quick to go over Terrence Man and his stats, right? So, he’s a guy for his career, 37.2% from three-point range. You look at last year when he went to Atlanta um on 2.9 attempts, 38.6% 6% from three-point range. Uh the Clippers, uh he was on, uh two attempts, he was 35% overall shot, 36.8%, but again, he’s had multiple seasons where he was 38 39% from three-point range, right? So, if you could pull something off to where, you know, you’re bringing in somebody like a Terrence man, you’re bringing in somebody like a highmith, right? Or like I said, maybe you’re not doing a Terren man, maybe you’re doing, you know, a Cam Thomas or something like that, right? like you could do other options, other trades and you know, but to me it’s like if you can go and bring in two versatile 65 defensive wings and pieces, why not? Why not bring those guys in, help clear some salary, help do some things, right? Like I just I think it’s something that could make some sense. I think it’s something that could uh potentially work for a team like the Lakers, right? Highmith again is a guy that you know is a career 37 almost 38% three-point shooter, right? on on three attempts. So, you’re adding in multiple guys. So, I don’t know. I think the Brooklyn Nets uh definitely could kind of help. And I think you might be able to get Terrence man and um and a a Haywood Highmith. I think you might be able to get them cheaper than Matis Style and Robert Williams just cuz it’s Portland and the Nets and the Lakers actually have a relationship. Lakers need defense and 2 way help. The Brooklyn Nets have 2 guys that could really help Lakers Nation in Terence Mann and Haywood Highsmith. Lakers Trade with the Neta could really help solve alot of the Lakers issues and better upgrade the roster which is the exact Lakers News needed.

  1. Maybe if we can get them at a fair price but idk if either of them can solve our startng SF problem.

  2. Excellent video exploring different roster moves and salary cap ideas. Explore an unlikely trade for Max Christie since he might fall out of the rotation. Perhaps explore salary cap moves that could help both teams

  3. Tyler the Lakers only need 2 things offensive minded but ctr who can start when Ayton is out that is Vu period. The 2nd piece is a starting 3 and D wing trade Rui he can't defend our starters need a defender get Wiggins period. We don't need more defense off the bench we need offense of the bench we need a better bu ctr than Hayes and more defense in starting rotation!

  4. u should do a video on ur ideal moves for the season after our new additions to the team
