Boston Celtics Sign Ron Harper Jr To A Deal
Ron Harper Jr. the brother older brother of this year’s number two overall pick Dylan Harper and the son of one of the best point guards in NBA history top 20 at least Ron Harper senior is signing with the Boston Celtics. Yes, if you guys have seen the report it came out earlier today and that report is from Mr. Michael Scott of hoopsype.com, my colleague, the Boston Celtics and Ron Harper Jr. have agreed to a deal, more than likely a training camp deal. He has spent the past three NBA seasons with the Raptors Pistons. The guy is a swing man. He can play the two or the three, more of a three, and he’s been a pretty solid three-point shooter. So for a Boston Celtics team that is clearly going to have a gap year transition year as Jason Tatum recovers from injury. Derrick White, Anthony Simons, who they are trying to trade. Jaylen Brown, Chris Boucher, and Neimus Kada are their expected starting lineup. Actually, I think take off Anthony Simons. I think he’s going to if he remains on the team, he’s going to come off the bench because they did say Peyton Pritcher starting. So it would actually be Derek White, Payton Pritchard, Jaylen Brown, Chris Bush, Neim Kada. Then with Anthony Simon, Sam Hower, Baylor Shyman, Jordan Walsh, Luga Garza, Josh Minot, Xavier Tilman, Hugo Gonzalez, Max Scholut, Amari Williams, and RJ Lewis. Those last three guys are on two ways. Hayden Gray and Ron Harper Jr. are seemingly probably going to be on exhibit 10’s competing for the final roster spot. And I would give a shot to Ron Harper Jr. I mean, this is a a guy who’s got a decent frame. He’s what, 66 almost. Um, last year he averaged 47 and two in the NBA. He’s 6’4, 6’5″, 230 lbs listed. And he’s someone that obviously has the size and the ability to be a solid NBA player. Um, I think obviously he’s more of a role guy who’s going to defend multiple positions, can play in transition, and is someone who will space the floor. Obviously, he’s been someone who’s been bouncing around the G and been on the two-ways, so it’s all about opportunity. Still young, you know, a guy who’s just turned 25 with him so far with the Raptors in 2022. He was someone that in 30 games had averaged 16 points, just under 17 points a game. And then this past season, he averaged 18 points a night. So there, you know, obviously he can put up buckets and he showed that when he’s playing in the G and been given the opportunity. And this isn’t his first goaround with Boston either. He had played with the main Celtics before getting picked up by the Detroit Pistons. And for him, one of the things is that he actually set the Cruise record for the most three-pointers made in a single game by making 11 of his 18 three-point attempts as the Motor City Crews had defeated the Long Island Nets. So, ironically, two other like NBA guys who were like guys who end up ultimately going overseas had held that record. But yeah, he had last year played in the 2024 NBA summer league with the Boston Celtics and then he had actually signed a exhibit deal last year with Boston. So, he’s rejoining them and he played for the main Celtics last year till he got picked up by Detroit. So, it’s really just kind of a homecoming. So, let me hear your thoughts on that one down below.
