So yeah, go do that as hippie. Hey, no Project Marvel talk today. Yeah, can you believe it? We’re not going to dive into the weeds. We’re not going to get into what they said and the politics and all that. I know, right? Even I was getting a little tired of it as well. But the only thing I will say about Project Marvel is this. PSA, don’t be threatening to kill people. Be serious. Y’all probably heard about that, right? San Antonio, there was uh some people they found on social media threatening to kill the mayor over Project Marvel. Yeah, not cool. Don’t do that. We’re just debating an arena and a sports district. Okay, chill San Antonio, chill out. But what we are talking about today is the Spurs new schedule. 202526 schedule is out. We’re going to take a look at that. Take care of some housekeeping as far as the big dates. I think you all probably know about the big dates and then kind of get our reaction. You know, what what do we like about the schedule? What don’t we like about the schedule? Uh when do they start playing their home games? Yeah, it’s going to be a while. Believe it or not, the schedule’s out, but it’s going to be a few extra days before they come to San Antonio and then how they close it out. So, you know, all to that road trip and whatnot. And then we’re going to talk about the roster. Are there any holes in the roster? Because it seemingly seems like this is the team they’re going to go to war with. All right. So, we’re going to be talking about that and more, but we’re going to talk about the schedule with Rudy Cppos coming up next. And then later in the show, Casey Vieira is going to join to talk about the holes on the roster. They need to be filled. So, keep that in mind moving forward. is going to bring in our guest. He is back everybody. Mr. Rudy Compost sporting the new logo for Sweep the League. Follow him on X at Sweep the League. Rudy, welcome back, buddy. Thanks, man. Thanks. Yeah, we been talking about rebranding on sweep. So, this is the a sneak peek at one of the logos that’s going to be used for the re I like. You know what? It gives me a like NCAA final four um look uh the patches they wear on the jerseys like or the logo for you know they’re going to the final four city is going to be that’s what it gives me vibes of yeah we’ve got great uh producers and designers and part of sweep the league they do a fantastic job as you can tell and again we’ve got like maybe nine different logos that are going to be branded on uh yeah merchandise and everything so just be on the lookout for it. All right, once again, he’s Rudy Copos. He is on next at Sweep the League. Check out his show, Sweeps the League on YouTube. All right, Rudy, we know you’re pressed for time, so let’s go and dive into it. The schedule is out. Yeah, the Spurs 2025 26 season schedule is out. Now, before we get our reaction, just some quick housekeeping and some of these dates you already know cuz they were already put out there. Uh the Spurs will open the season against Dallas in Dallas on October 22 and then they’ll play another road game against the Pelicans before coming to San Antonio for the third game of the regular season on October 26 when they host interesting enough the Brooklyn Nets are coming to San Antonio very early in the season. So that’ll be at the Frost. Uh other notes to uh keep in mind the Christmas Day game the Spurs will play. They’re playing against Oklahoma City Thunder, the defending NBA champs. Uh New Year’s Eve is going to be Spurs hosting the Knicks. So, New York is going to be in San Antonio. And then, uh you got the Boston Celtics coming in on March 10th. Uh the Bucks are coming in on January 15th. Uh again, some more housekeeping stuff about the schedule. 22 Nationally TV televised games this season. So, the Spurs are definitely going to get their fill of uh national games on TV. That’s pretty good for there. As y’all know, the NBA Cup Spurs schedule is out already. It’s been out for a couple days. The Spurs are on group C in the Western Conference. They’ll be playing, I guess, the Rockets, the Warriors, and the Blazers, and the Nuggets. Those are the four teams are playing for the cup. For the Cup game, Rockets, it’s on November 7th. Cup game Warriors on November 14th. Cup Game Blazers November 26th and Cup Game Nuggets 28th. Uh so there’s that as well. And uh for those of youall wondering about the Austin games, again, we’re just getting these quick housekeeping dates out of the way first. They’ll be hosting in Austin the Suns and the Kings. So it looks like the Suns are going to come back as did last year. Suns in Austin versus Spurs. That’s a home game, quote unquote. That’s February 19th. And then the Kings game is going to be on February 21. So for those interested in the Austin games, those are it right there. All right. So there’s like kind of the housekeeping stuff out of the way. Uh the out Rudy, um why don’t you take a first crack at it? What jumped out at you right away when you looked at the schedule? So the surprising thing for me was looking at that first part of the schedule. I mean, you’re talking the first 20 games of the year. I think only about seven of those games, possibly eight. You’re talking about teams that were in the playoffs last year. Playoff Jack, a lot of these teams took a step back. So, they didn’t have very good offseason. The Lakers I really feel is a team that did take a step back. So, they’re playing them there as well. Miami is another team that they took a step back in the offseason. So, you’re talking maybe 14 wins out of these first 20 games. That really shocked me at all. That was the very first thing that surprised me when it came to the schedule, seeing it for the very first time. Yeah. Yeah. And uh look u I kind of hit it already. For me it was a 22 games on national TV. I mean that is huge. That’s a good testament to the Spurs. Kind of a I guess a thermometer or measuring stick of where the at least the NBA views the Spurs as mustsee TV. So 22 of those games uh Spurs games are going to be on uh TV. Again that’s split again everybody. Just a reminder uh it’s no more TNT and upcoming. It’s now Prime and Peacock. So again, it’ll be ESPN Prime, NBA TV, of course, the local channels, uh, NBC, ESPN, ABC, and all that stuff. All right, so keep that in mind. But what’s interesting, too, about these national games, Rudy, what caught my eye, I think all games against the Rockets are on national TV, Rudy, what do you think about that? That that that’s saying something there. They they think this is a rivalry. Well, not only that, I mean, if you look at all Texas teams, I mean, obviously including the Spurs, they’re all figured to be in the mix, at least in the playoffs this year. So, I mean, going off of what odds are saying in Vegas, they had the Spurs are, I think, 43 44 wins in the season, I’ve got them a little bit higher. So, it’s not a surprise to me to see all the Texas teams being pretty much nationally televised games. It’s mustwatch TV when it comes to Texas games this year. Absolutely. I have on the screen right now the schedule for those y’all interested in looking at and kind of following me and Rudy at least. I’ll leave it on the screen for a little while everybody y’all can take a look at it. Uh, another thing that jumped out at me too is the rodeo road trip is short this year. It’s not a long one. Uh, it begins at Detroit on January 23 26 and it’s just a I got it right here. As far as on the road, now keep in mind that includes I guess the Austin games, but as far as on the road ro road trip again at Detroit on uh February 23, 26 and then that’s it. Then it’s at Toronto, at Brooklyn, at New York, and at Philadelphia. It’s just a fivegame road trip. And I think that bodess well for the Spurs because that road trip can be grueling. Now, if you want to lump in uh you know, the Austin games, fine. But at least the Austin game serve as a break because they’ll be on the road on J, sorry, February 10th, 2026 against the Lakers and then the Warriors. So, in actuality, you have about a good, you know, break in the middle and I think that bodess well. So ro road trip again begins my mistake on against the Lakers then it ends at Philadelphia but they got that Austin break in to start it. So I think that’s good for them. But as far as the main leg of it is just a fivegame road trip. So I think that bs well for the Spurs uh to close out the season. Uh the longest home stand next year uh well this upcoming season I should say. It looks like they got a couple of them. They got one early in November. It’s a back-to-back versus Golden State. to one of those games and it’ll be on prime. So that’s a three, four, five, five game home stand right there. But if you fast forward to the uh March 5th, March 5th, 2026, that’s a three six game home stand right there, which begins against Detroit, ends against the Hornets on March 14th. Rudy, I want to bring this up to you real fast. Look how they close out the the season. It’s kind of tough. If you look at the end of March heading into April, you got Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Chicago, which is a young upand cominging team. Then it’s at Warriors, at Clippers, at Denver, maybe throw Philly out, Portland’s an if they’re if they’re trying to get position in the playoffs or play in, look how they close it out. It’s a little bit of a rough ending. Hey, but first I want to talk to you about monarch money. Most people can’t name all their financial accounts or even know what they’re worth. This is KG Tang, voice of San Misha Zugawa and Demon Slayer, and you’re watching Locked on Spurs with Jeff Garcia. I’d rather have that at the end than towards the beginning of the season. You know, you talk about who’s uh evolving and teams getting together and becoming, you know, one focal group. That that would be perfect at the end because you’ve got to figure I’ve always told you on past lockdown Spurs where they are at that rodeo road trip is going to determine the rest of the season. If they’re balling and they’re jelling at that time and they’re over here by X number of games, I’m not so much worried about the end of the season because if that’s the case, teams like Denver, uh, possibly Dallas, a healthy Dallas team, is going to be really, really good. They may be looking to rest some of their starters heading into the playoffs. So, we don’t know exactly what’s going to happen towards the end. That is a brutal end of the season for them, but I think if this team is mentally ready by that time, Yeah. then it’s going to be really good for this team to experience that because what happens after they’re in the playoffs, these are the teams they’re going to stay in the playoffs, it gives them just that much more experience heading into the playoff. Yeah. And and the good thing too is that at least that the way they close out the season according to the schedule, it’s a four game home stand. So it’s not like they’re back and forth. So again, that the last road trip will be uh April 1 through April 4 all on road and then they close it out with four games at home. And so I think that bodess well for the Spurs if they’re positioning for a playoff. And you look at other road trips that could be tough. Look at that. January 10th through 13. Um they go at Boston, at Minnesota, at Oklahoma City. That’s going to be a brutal three-game home road trip right there. Rudy, your thoughts? Uh, possibly one of the few times on this schedule that you can see a small little losing streak, which is possible because all three of things are on the road, but again, you know, trying to determine wins and losses and everything ahead of time, not figuring injuries, stuff like that, it’s very hard to see. But, I mean, if you’re looking at one tough one tough span on the road, it’s definitely right there. But again, I think the way the team has been assembled in the off season, it’s built to win starting now. So, a lot of these games that we kind of expected them to lose, it’s going to be those games where we’re like, “Okay, let’s see what you’ve really got.” I think they’re ready for a lot of these tougher opponents. Yeah, exactly. And even in that uh that long their longest home stand which is 19 uh of March uh Detroit Clippers Houston Boston Denver Charlotte you know me you can’t count out the Pistons that’s for sure but then Clippers same thing Houston same thing Boston same thing Denver and Charlotte could be a team on the rise they may be they may give Spurs fits that’s a tough sixgame home stand right there again towards the end of the season. Thank you schedule makers for doing that because you come off the rodeo road trip the second leg of it maybe on what should be a W which will be at Philadelphia but man and then you come home to Detroit Clippers Houston Boston Denver Charlotte all at towards the end of the season all where playoff position could be I fear some of these tougher trips like we just mentioned right now at Boston Minnesota and then at OKC you you need to pick up some W so if they They come out of that like 0 and three early and then you got to face these kind of teams at home. That could be tough really based on the schedule. It looks like they’re going to have their moments where you mentioned a small losing skid that could bite them in the butt later in the season. Yeah, it’s possible. And you know, we got to consider teams like you were mentioning, Milwaukee and Boston. These two teams, I mean, one’s going to be without Jason Tatum, I would think, for the entirety of the seasons. Milwaukee, they took a really big step back. I know Dame Liard was going to be out regardless, but it’s not like they went out there and loaded up around Jiannis Kono. So, a lot of these teams that, you know, you would probably fear are not going to be, you know, in position to make moves like to get it probably into the playoff spot or something like that. So, I think the schedule makers did a really good job and a really big favor for the Spurs. Like I mentioned, their first 20 games would not surprise me at all to have them come out on a very fast start uh with this team. And then you may see that struggle come in. Like I said, they have that tough three-game road trip that you mentioned. You could see a struggle there, one and two, possibly 0 and three. But it just seems like the schedule overall is if they’re kind of having some difficulty. There’s some games there where it kind of can get them back on the right track and some momentum back on track. So, I love the fact that the Rudy road trip is technically like a five game skid and it’s really what your five Eastern conference. So, you’re kind of taking that east coast trip. So, the schedule I I looking at it and just overlooking the skiing itself, it it really favors the San Antonio Spurs with kind of why Vegas has them at that 44 wins I believe right now. It it makes a whole lot of sense. Yeah, Vegas has them at at 43 and a half. So, yeah, 44 wins. Uh, and I think that sounds about right. I know we’ll get into it later on the show with Casey, but uh, I think that’s about right. You You look at the schedule and it’s kind of balanced. It really is because you look at another road trip that he got late in the season at Miami, at Memphis, at Milwaukee. Doable. That’s doable. You know what? And I got to stop giving Boston, you know, too much credit here because I, you know, we’re used to them just being there all the time and wrecking shop for the regular season, but they’ve changed, man. I mean, Tatum, as you mentioned, is out for the season. You know, they’re, this is not the same championship team that we saw because uh the roster turnover they had recently. Keep that in mind. Uh, as far as backtobacks, of course, the schedule is peppered with them. I’ll put it back everybody here. Y’all can see it here. There you all go. All right. Uh, so yes, the Spurs ever have their backto-back. One interesting one is February 5th and 7th at Dallas, then home um in San Antonio versus Dallas. I think that’s going to be a fun I would say back toback, but a home home series there. Uh, that’ll be one to keep an eye on. Ry, you’re looking at the schedule here. If you had to pick one home game to go to, what would it be? Oh god, one home game to go to. Uh, everybody likes the Dallas one and you know everybody thinks Cooper Flag Gil and Harper one and two that’d be a good one to go to. For me personally, the one game and it’s kind of funny is probably one of my teams that’s been on the rise for the past couple of years and showed a lot of promise last year. I’d love to go to an Orlando San Antonio game. Yes. Yeah. The Magic continued to build and they continue to improve. They’re my fastest rising team and they have been in the past couple of years. you see them take leaps and bounds, but adding Desmond Bane to that mix already of no young guys and all they needed was a shooter which they got. I think Orlando San Antonio will be flying. Don’t count out Detroit San Antonio. That’s another fun one. But again, I think with what Orlando did, seeing the Orlando Magic and the San Antonio Spurs, I think that’s a game that’s going to be a real fun one to watch. Go back and forth. A lot of young talent on the court, that’ll be a fun game to be at. For me is it’s the Dallas game is and it’s not just because of Cooper Flag and Harper. It’s just because Dallas seemingly is, you know, kind of recovering from losing uh Luca. I think um they on paper it looks like it’s going to be pretty good. Anthony Davis tends to have the best of Wimi when they face of course. Yes. Flag and Harper. Yeah. So for me it’s a Dallas game. Uh, by the way, everybody, for those of y’all with a little uh that need to know some nostalgia or like when former Spurs are coming, uh, if they still on Washington, well, if he’s still on Washington, uh, Malachi Brandham uh, comes to back to San Antonio on December 1st. So, there’s that. And then for Blake Wesley, he’s with the Blazers now, right? I think so. Right. Yeah, he signed with the Blazers. Believe he’s with Portland. Yeah, he’s with Portland now. Let’s see if we can find it out. Uh that’ll be January 3rd as when that happens. So uh for those former Spurs there coming back to San Antonio. Uh but overall balanced balanced games, balanced schedule. It’s not too heavy road. It’s not too heavy home. Uh you know, you got the rodeo road trip down. My god. Let’s see. I want to go back to that the opening month here. All right, let’s do this. Let’s let’s let’s go. Let’s go. Win loss and we’ll take the first 10 games here. Okay. You ready? Uh at Dallas, I got a W. What do you got? Dallas is healthy or not. Um give me a W on that one. All right. New Orleans. I got a W. What do you got? Yeah, same thing. I got a W on there. Okay. Then they host Brooklyn. I think they got a W there. So, I got them three and0 to start the season. I won’t argue that fact. I got three and0 on that one. Do we go 4-0? Then they host Toronto. I got them 4-0. Yes. There’s nothing about Toronto that scares me other than the Spurs committing a lot of turnovers. This is going to be dicey, but you got Miami led by Spra. He gets the best out of this his teams. I’m going to go Yes. I’m gonna go 5-0 to start this season. So, I’m gonna give them the win over Miami. But you know what, Jeff? X that Dallas game. I’m gonna It’s on the road. I think I’m going to end up taking Dallas on that one. Um, but I got him at four and one, but I do have him beating Miami. All right, fine. Then we go to Phoenix. I got him six and0, Rudy. Six and0 in my book. What do you got him at? Five and one. They got to win over Sunnet. All right, now it gets a little dicey at Lakers. Luca lost some weight. You got LeBron, you know, coming back again. I’m gonna get the first loss at Lakers. What do you think? I’ve actually got him beating the Lakers. I’m not very high on LA. I haven’t been all out season, but give me the win over LA. Then we got the main event early in the season. Spurs host Houston. That’ll be on prime. Spurs. I got se I got Oh, I I got seven and one. So, you got five and two so far. No. Yeah, I got him seven. Yeah. Yeah. Excuse me. I got him at 701 right now. Um, then we got New Orleans visiting San Antonio. That’s a win in my book. What do you got? Oh, yeah. I mean, New Orleans is not going to be a team to worry about district. All right. All right. So, I got him uh eight and one right now. And then finally for the 10 at Chicago, this one’s interesting. I’m give me a W. Give me a W. Give me a W. I got them nine and one to start the season. Um I definitely have them beating Chicago. Um that’ll be six over that. You have nine and one, I have eight and two to start the year. But again, 14 wins is not out of the question. I think it gets a little dicey for me when the Golden State comes up in that back. Yeah. So, what we’re trying to get at here, everybody, is that the Spurs definitely have a quote unquote soft start to the season. Oh, yeah. Um, that there’s definitely more uh winnable games on paper than losable games. So, look, if this first come out like I predict maybe 9 and one or even Rudy predicts, what do you come out? Uh, eight and two or seven and three. Uh, eight and three. Eight and two. Either way, no matter how you spin it, that’s a great start to the season and which would help them uh because as you all saw, it’s going to get tougher and tougher throughout the season, especially the way they close out the year. So, there you have it. All right, there is your 202526 Spurs regular season schedule. Hey, what do y’all think? Y’all think it’s uh even, fair, not fair? You can let Rudy know on X at Sweep the League. And speaking of Sweep the League, Rudy, we’re gonna let you go right now. tell us about Sweep. Yeah, so as you can tell by the logo, that’s one of the new logos that we’re going to be rebranding here towards the end of the year. But Sweep the League, we just did our NFL preview. We’re about to do our NCAA football preview on next week coming up. So you should join myself, Coach Dio, all the networks, all the shows we have on the network, they’re all going strong. It’s really, really great. So basketball season’s coming up, obviously with a schedule release, but NFL’s here, NCAA’s here. We’re we’re just getting super busy over at Swiss League. There you have it. He is Rudy Capos of Sweep to Lee. Make sure to follow him on X at Sweep to League. You want to do that right now. Don’t go anywhere. When we get back, we’re going to bring on Casey Vieira. We’re going to be asking the question, are there any holes on the roster? That’s up next right here on Locked on Spurs. And you want to make sure you follow him on X at Casey_Vier. You do that right now. Casey, surprise, surprise. No Project Marvel talk for this episode. That was the rule today. No Project Marvel. That’s the He’s for today. Yeah. Jesus. I think we all needed a strategic pause. A good one. Sort of dialogue because it’s um it’s getting to be a lot. I understand why it’s a lot. Yeah. It’s getting to be. Yeah. Yeah. Well, the network does say, you know, they want the local guys to be on the local beat. So, you can’t get more local about what everybody’s talking about with Project Marvel right now. So, uh, but yeah. Yeah, we we decided hella got to give the bosses what they want, man. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. All right, with that being said, uh, yeah, we’re so we’re going to wrap up this episode of Lockdown SP discussing the current roster. Are there any holes on the roster? Now, on paper looks pretty strong. You got yourself a franchise player. Wimby, you got his running mate, D Fox. How about some young guns? Yeah, you got Castle, you got Harper. What about some good veterans? Well, you got Vel K. And what about veteran veterans? Barnes, Olen. Yeah, looks good. But there actually are some holes on this roster that perhaps could rear their ugly heads if the Spurs do not address it heading into the new season. And right off the bat, Casey, I’m going to go with still the lack of perimeter shooting. At least consistent, reliable perimeter shooting. Now, don’t knock on Kelly Oolen. Good shooting big man. Don’t knock on Julian Champeni, but as we’ve seen historically, starts off strong, kind of fizzles out towards the end. Not consistent. And you look at the guards, Fox, Castle, Harper, at least in college. Not strong three shooters, long two shooters. I fear that’s still a hole that needs to be addressed. But my gut is say that they’re going to we’re going to roll with this. They’re going to roll with the team they got right now when it comes to the shooting Casey and just maybe Castle will take that lead in that department. Maybe. Well, I don’t know about I think Fox Fox is Fox at this point of his career. So, and maybe Harper gets better at it through training camp and preseason work. What do you think about that? Do you think that lack of perimeter consistent, reliable shooting is still an issue? I do. I do. Okay. Uh while they’ve helped with fixing that a little bit, uh I don’t think, and you alluded to it, I don’t think they’ve done done enough to solve it. uh because they’re putting a lot of eggs in the basket and and rightfully so of guys who are not known to be terrific three-point shooters for lack of a better term. Uh and that’s fine because you prioritize all the other good things Stefon Castle does and what Dearon Fox does and what that man Dylan Harper what you expect him to do. WBY not entirely the most efficient three-point shooter in the world either. There’s that. Yep. But you take what you can go with right there. A Vel, hot or cold. We know that. And your your main shot takers again are not are are not your particular gunners in the world. Uh they have to put stock into their growth though. And they know that. They know that it’s still a flaw of theirs. consistent three-point shooting. Uh you know that when you’re signing up for that three guard backcourt. You know that when you’re signing up when you give WBY the green light on some nights and he’s launching 35footers in motion just because that’s that’s how he plays the game. You know what you’re signing up for. That said, you still need the shot creation when you can get it. Um, and for me a lot of that and where I a hole that I need to think that they need to uh I think they need to fill that shot creation itself because as a result it should lead to more opportunities and open opportunities and theoretically the sample size that we do have is not good. But the sample size that we have with De’Aran Fox with for the handful of games that he played last year still largely unproven. So if we’re going by what we know, a guy who can create his own shot, a guy in Fox, a guy who can create those opportunities for those around him to get them good looks, you would be encouraged that that would help and like you said, maximize the three-point shooting ability. To each their own, though, you could very much look on the other side of the spectrum and and say, well, yeah, okay, the ball’s going to be in his hands. There’s also very much the uncertainty of whether Stefon Castle can become a true facilitator. Is he more of that offball guy? Is is is the focus going to be his keeping him more at that three spot in these small ball lineups? then you’re putting a lot of that stock in in Dylan Harper who’s a rookie and you have a good idea what he can do but at the end of the day a rookie is still a rookie. So I think as a result that shot creation void is still there a little bit more than you want it to be. Yeah. But if it does happen I think it plays handinhand with what you’re saying. I think it should create better opportunities more efficient opportunities from deep. Yeah. And and the thing what worries me a little bit is because they’re obviously committed to the three guard lineup or at least you know they’ll trout those three guys out there at one point of the season and defenses may be all right we know you’re good in that paint area or a little close to the rim you know go for it you know try it you know we’ll we’ll we’ll give you we’ll dare you to take the long two or the three shot and not to say that Fox or Castle could make it they can but again they’re I cringe a little bit whenever time they’re they’re getting ready to fire one out from deep. And of course, Harper is the unknown. I I don’t think in summer league he didn’t really show that much of a three shot. He was really attacking the rim. Really not certainly not enough for us to be talking about it. Exactly. So, we didn’t really get to see that, too. So, that’s the only little fear of my how our defense is going to play on that and will they expose that? Will be that will that be an Achilles heel the Spurs moving into the new season? And you know, look, Olen, he’s pretty good. You know, he’s perhaps as of now maybe the most reliable him and Champenni, but you need that type of reliability from the big boys, you know, your castle foxes and hopefully that big boy will be Harper soon. You know, who knows with Carter Bryant, you know, he really had an offshooting uh showing during summer play. He got better that last game, but again, you know, unknown as you mentioned, him being a rookie. So that that that for me is like kind of one of the holes right now on the roster is that three shot. Um where is it going to come from? And hopefully look Castle is showing out, you know. Oh, look at these videos. Look at me. I’m in the gym with the point guard guru guy. I’m I’m making my threes, you know. Okay, that’s great. I’m love to see you, Stefan. But do it when you have an elite NBA defender on you. Let me see you do that when L Dort’s on you. When you have Dorture Chamber. Let’s see see how you react to that. Um, so we’ll see how that transitions, but aside from three shot and reliable three shooting, you have something very interesting you told me before we hit the record button here. Go ahead and take it away, Casey. What do you think is a weakness of this roster? I think with the yeah with the with the shot creation it of course the focal point is the the Fox Castle and uh Harper dynamic of it expectedly so they run the point guard position that that’s the given but I think beyond that what what we need to keep an eye out for with Victor this year and it seems like from an offensive standpoint defensively we know he’s pretty much got figured offensively. I think the next step in his game where it elevates is making everybody else around him better where we have yet to really see that at this point. Mind you, a lot of a lot of those opportunities to make people better are conducive to people hitting their shots in fairness. But that goes back to what we’re saying about being able to knock down three if we’re being fair and diplomatic about it. But up to this point, there hasn’t been a huge sign or a huge moment it feels like or or consistent probably a consistent stretch probably the best way to phrase it, better way to phrase it where we can say Victor as a facilitator is maximizing everybody else around them. We haven’t seen it yet. You would think though that’s probably the next step. That’s the next step in his game. That’s the next step in the focal point of the offense. That’s the next step in terms of the relationship with him and Fox because there’s going to be times where it’ll be on him to make sure Fox gets his looks. Fox, of course, is the primary operator with the basketball, but it’s going to be on him to Victor to reciprocate and make it work. It’s going to be on Victor at times. He’s going to be on the floor with Kelly Oolen. Victor hasn’t played great at the power forward spot when I mean you saw it primarily when it was he was opposite of Zack Collins, but who is not the shooter Kelly Olen is, but Victor hasn’t excelled at the four like the way he has at the five. So that could be a different challenge that needs to be embraced a little bit more. Uh so the shot creation for me runs a lot through his growth as well. I mean, I’m not really telling saying anything we don’t already know. He’s the best player on the team. He’s the best player on the team, the generational, the focal point of the offense, the focal point of the squad. I’m not saying anything we don’t already know. But in terms of them taking that next step, I think that’s going to be a big time aspect whether they do that that focal point of with what if they are able to make that next step and hit those threes and do those things because of what he does or doesn’t do. Yeah. Um, and you look beyond that too, I think I would call it a hold of the roster, more like an expectation of him to elevate his game to impact the rest of his teammates. Yeah. Yeah. I think that because first of all, first step is play close to maybe a game you can win. I we’re year three now and haven’t even gotten close to that. Uh, so yeah, what about like 65 games in his rookie season than last year mudplot issue qualified? Can he get close to that? I think that will help as well. Yeah, exactly. Qualifies. Yeah, exactly. But so I I I I think that is um where guys are going to have to do their part too. Slash to the rim, you know, creating space for him to operate. or the three shot early long two shooters uh come in. So yeah, I mean look, the the roster is a lot better than it was last year. You up and down is it’s it’s better. You know, you you no knock on Chris Paul, but you know, you got a younger breed in now. You got a younger guys in there that’ll run that point guard spot. Vox is where he’s going to finally, you know, be healthy and play close to 82 as you can. So everything’s shaping up right now. Vegas has the Spurs right now winning about 40 they got about 43 44 wins next season. That sounds about right. Um what do you think about that? You know, we’re saying yeah, there’s still some holes in the roster, but Vegas gives them a kind of a 500ish season. What do you think? I think so. I think that sounds about right given where they are, given where they expect to be fully healthy, given the fact that the Western Conference is a gauntlet this year. It’s even more loaded than the West than the the West we already know it to be. Uh I I think there’s going to be a lot of parody from spots, you know, less less than four or five games between spots in the West from four to eight, four to nine. I could see scenarios where there is only a four. It it it’s going to be one of those seasons where if you go on a losing stretch, you lose four in a row, you lose seven of 10 or something like that, you can really lose some ground because of how competitive everybody else is. You go on that stretch losing seven, eight of 10 and when you do that, you’re at the three seed. We saw it a lot last year, especially with a team like me. Memphis is the one that comes fresh to mind. uh they hit a little bit of a rut and they’re go from floating around that two three seat conversation all the way down into the playing. I think the Spurs will find themselves kind of in that pack where there’s very very little margin of error where they get hot. They could sneak in maybe in the top four spot with 46 47 wins but the bar below that at 43 might knock you down to the nine seed. I could see both of those happening for sure. Yeah. So that 40, you said 43 and a half. Yeah, I think that’s a good number. No, 43 and a half. Yeah, that that Yeah, I’m with I’m with Vegas on that one. About it’s about right. Uh, you know, again, the conference are in young, you know, got to integrate some players. Fox is really going to have his first real goound with this team and he was he’s not he was on a mid-season acquisition, so he’ll definitely have time to mesh with the team. So, you got to factor that in. Wimby getting back, you know, he didn’t play in the Euro basket. There’s that. You got to worry about Sohan. He’s injured again. You know, he says he’ll be ready to go for the preseason and the training camp. We’ll see. So, there’s still some pieces to come together, but as of right now, the the roster is much significantly improved from him last year, but there are some holes that, you know, keep an eye on as the season approaches. He is Casey Vieira. You want to follow him on X at Casecore Vieira. He’s the man to go to for all things, not just Spurs, just anything. Anything, including Project Marvel, right, Casey, because you love talking about Project Marvel every single day. Well, honestly, the reason I don’t talk about it enough, here’s my general rule of life and why people might think better of me than I really am is I I try not to in insert myself into arguments that I don’t know what I’m talking about, you know? I I I don’t I don’t try to I don’t try to make myself the smartest guy in I I might have takes, but if I don’t feel fully knowledgeable about it. I don’t interject in the conversation just to do that. I I’ll listen to both sides. I’ll be like, “All right, got it. Got it.” I’ll just kind of be quiet to myself. I I’ve kind of played that Switzerland all the way through. It’s come It’s got me this far in life. So, the Project Marble side of things, I understand. I understand both parts of it, but there’s a lot of things, a lot of parts that I don’t particularly understand or don’t have a clearer lens. So, for the sake of not ending up clickbait, you retweeting something I tweet or something like that or say, I’m just going to keep my mouth shut and watch the whole thing play out. I have a st I I have a stance on whether or not I would I would vote for it. I’m not going to tell you. Well, actually, I have told you in the past, but I’m not going to tell the audience masses on it. Yeah, don’t tell the audience because it’s not totally it’s not totally educated. And two, I just don’t have the time to deal with my Twitter blowing up like that. I don’t I I don’t I don’t, man. It was a little chaos. It’s You know, you messed it up, too, because No. Okay. I will say this one thing. I I will say you’re an idiot if you’re over here threatening people’s lives over this project. Just saying. Thank you. That’s one thing I think all confident. Thank you. Yeah. Yes. I will say that. Anyways, go ahead. Sure. Yeah. And you know, for me too, it was just like um I think everybody knows in San Antonio that you know there’s like a major comic convent or anime con. I’m usually tap to MC hosted. So that happened you know a new one popped up. It was pretty big and I’m ready to go. But all right, let me tell San Antonio, you know, I’m about to do this. And then Project Marvel popped up. Well, got to delay it. Well, can’t say anything about it now because it’s going to get buried in the news cycle or at least the social media news cycle that is. I said, never mind. So, yeah, it’s been dominating, man. It’s just do I’m just glad we had an episode where we didn’t go deep into the weeds of that cuz I was getting tired of it already. Buckle up. You would think something so fun, you know, or an arena. No, not just an arena, an entertainment district wouldn’t create this mess. And it did. It did. But all right. Well, again, heads up everybody. I’m being quiet with myself. This topic of Project Marvel probably will come up again because it is just a hot topic in San Antonio and and among Spurs fans. So, there it is. Again, he is Casey Vieier. You want to follow my next at kc_vie, do that right now. We’ll be back next week as the offseason continues. We just need one young Power Forward in next years 2026 NBA Draft. F/C Chris Cenac Jr 6'10 230 Houston, F Caleb Wilson 6'9 210 North Carolina or F Alex Condon 7'0 230 Florida.
The 5 man iineup with the highest netrtg (+16.3) for the spurs last season for 5 man lineups with more than 100 minutes togethers was cp3 – pg, Vassel sg, Barnes -sf, Wemby – c, Sochan – pf. That was the 10 games when those players started and went 5-5 with the only "bad" teams being Portland and the Nets . It was after Vassell moved back to the starting lineup and before Sochan got injured. If those players are all healthy at the start of the season and replacing CP3 with Fox I can't see any good reason why they shouldn't be the starters. Vassell played SG most of his college and professional career and Harrison Barnes played SF for most of his college and professional career. Talking about the Spurs starting with a 3 guard lineup consisting of Fox, Castle, and Harper is borderline insane.
Trade (any of Devin, Kelton etc, draft picks) for Klay and sign Seth Curry.
Carter Bryant and Luke Kornet will be killing it from three. And if Devon doesn’t develop consistency den he doesn’t deserve da big minutes.
Here’s a question to ask on your podcast…
GM Wright said they were ready to trade up for Carter Bryant?
I DEFINITELY BELIEVE IT BECAUSE HE SAID IT RIGHT OFF THE BAT RIGHT WHEN HE WAS DRAFTED .
SO THE QUESTION IS
WHO WOULD YOU HAVE BEEN WILLING AND WHO DO YOU THINK THE SPURS WERE WILLING TO GIVE UP TO TRADE UP TO GET CARTER (JUMPS HIGHER THAN KOBE) BRYANT?
I WDVE GIVEN UP Sochan, Johnson or draft picks.
