Nikola Jović Leads Serbia Over Germany! | Miami Heat Forward Answers Erik Spoelstra’s Challenge!
Welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. The two best words that Heat Nation needed to hear after 24 hours of angst. Yo, dude, listen. I understand this was for his national team in Serbia. So it is not completely for Heat Nation, but Heat Nation, think of yourselves as honorary members of Serbia right now and and support what Nicolola Yoic is doing because this kid balled out today and exactly what Eric Spolster was talking about. Remember what was his challenge in Las Vegas to Nico? He said, “I want to see him flourish in the moments of truth.” And I was getting set to record. But I was watching this game along I found it in in uh on YouTube on a very very squirly link. I mean it was not in English. Uh it was buffering weirdly at times. There were strange commercial breaks but either way we found it. Serbia v Germany in the Super Cup final which just sounds awesome as they’re getting ready for Euro Basket. And Nico led Serbia today with 22 points. And they needed every piece of them. They did not exactly get the best game in the world today from the Joker. So Serbia really needed somebody to step up for him today. And mind you, Germany is no frigin slouch when it comes to the uh when it comes to the international game. This is a this is a team that beat them in the World Cup a couple of years ago. Remember, you had Nico crying on the court, and this was a hell of a matchup that he had going for him because he had to go up against France Vagner, who ended up being the leading uh the leading scoreer for this uh for this German team today. But he and Nico were having a fun back and forth. And there was a time in that fourth quarter where my cheeks got a little squeaky because Nico was uh taking the inbounds and Fran Vagner swiped it right from him and Germany scored. And they did that like two straight possessions to get themselves from a six-point game to a two-point game. And I was like uh I don’t need that to be the lasting image because by the way I was trying to get uh Frog Boy and Leroy to watch this with me. And I was like, “Hey, you guys want the link for for Serbia Germany?” And I was I was laughed out of the group chat. So, their loss, their loss, not mine, because just a couple of possessions later, a stones three from Nico to put Serbia up seven and really just took control back of the game. He was huge in this one. And I mean, he was feeling the three ball today. He was 47 from downtown, but he had he had himself a couple that were with confidence and rhythm. He had a step back bomb over France Vagner in the second half of this game. Maybe it was the first half. No, I’m sorry. It was the second quarter of this game. And it was like, oo, he was taking it from Stefand. Yoic was feeling it today, dude. And everything that Eric Spolster could have wanted from Nico, he got in a performance like this against some real tough competition. and him and Vagner. Vagner, let me tell you something. Vagner looks beefy. I don’t know if it’s a German if the the German jersey the German jersey. That’s a mouthful. I don’t know if it’s the German jersey or he’s just put on a lot of muscle this off seasonason, but he looked like an absolute moose. And I was like, man, this is going to be a fun test for Yoic. Because I think a lot of people look at Vagner and they’re like, all right, is is is that what Yoic is going to be? Like what is what is uh what is happening here? and and Vagner’s going to turn 24. He’s two years older than Nico. He’s going to turn 24 in a couple of weeks. And just to see uh just to see this battle back and forth like this is this is a fun one because you got these two young stallions trying to lead their their teams, their national teams. Now, mind you, this is a this is this is the other thing that made this interesting was look, typically with Serbia, it’s give the ball to Joker and get the hell out of the way. But I don’t think he was feeling well. I don’t know if this has been a typical thing or not, but I noticed that he was wearing a back support today. He didn’t look fantastic. He did not look like his normal self. And I’m sure there’s a lot of teams right now because these these nations are already getting getting after it. Mind you, this Super Cup, whatever they’re playing for, this was in Munich, so it’s in Germany. The atmosphere is pretty crazy. The team’s all there. You got uh Tristan Dilva also from the Orlando Magic on this team. So they’re little Magic. We’re a little Heat. Okay, we gota, you know, I’m sure, you know, the Nuggets fans are trying to claim Serbia, too, but sorry, dude. Who was the leading scoreer today? Boom. We’re little Heat today. Um, Schroeders’s on this team. There was a time where Nico was out there on the wing. He was he was trying to stop Schroeder. I was like, “This is great.” Um, and honestly, I think there was times where Serbia like I I I almost feel like they, you know, need to trust Nico more. Like I think there’s a lot of he’s still the baby of the team even though Topic is the new baby of the team. There was like a clip uh that was going viral a couple games ago of Joker trying to teach Topic like hey you better give high five to everybody’s who comes off the court. But Nico is now like that was Nico and now Nico’s like no he’s starting he’s closing he’s coming up with big baskets. So it was a vibe today dude. It was really, really cool to see him show up defensively against a a big-time challenger. And look, Vagner still got his 26, but it was, you know, it was not like, you know, he it’s not like he cooked him like eight for nine, you know, he he did he he had positions where he definitely had to work for that. Uh got to the free throw line a ton today. So, like, you know, Vagner’s a stud, dude. Like, I mean, like that that’s what the fun of this is. You have a guy there who’s looked upon as one of the big three for his Orlando Magic and Nico is trying to make his way and and he was going shot forshot with him at times. Like really really impressive stuff. Um but I I was I had a lot of fun watching this game. Almost too much fun. Couldn’t understand a damn word the commentators were saying. Uh, and then the game closes. The the dagger on the game was a Joker pass to Nico for like it wasn’t like a pure alley, but he just kind of found him cutting for a big time slam. And I’m just like, man, that was good. I enjoyed that very much. Uh, he finished today with 22 points. That’s it was pretty much in the scoring column because he had uh one rebound, one assist, one steal. all the uh the rebounding in this game was uh was pretty much that’s all Joker was really bringing to the table. I don’t I hope he’s all right. The uh but but Serbia, you know, look, I they were the favorite for Euro Basket. I imagine they still are. By the way, I don’t know if you guys saw uh Luca Donuch took a uh took a took a shot today, but I think he’s okay. He was really pissed at the officials after that happened. Um, but Serbia and Slovenia are going to play next week and I’m looking forward to that one, dude. I I I am looking forward to that one. You need to have like Goi as like uh as as like Michael Buffer like introducing everybody at at midcourt for that game. That would be something. As far as the Heat’s concerned, look, there was a it wasn’t a report. It was a it was some intel from Barry Jackson yesterday and he was like saying like look there’s a lot of people because the report came out that basically Yoic is the reason why the Heat didn’t get Kevin Durant like he was the guy. Now that’s the Heat being unwilling. It still remains to be seen whether or not, you know, the number 10 pick and Jaylen Green if that still would have been too much of a better offer than what the than you know what the Heat would have been able to beat them with with Yoic. I still think it would have taken KL Wear just because it felt like they really wanted a center center. Um, but on the heels of all the Haywood Highmith drama, Barry came out and he he tweeted out that the the player that the offer the Heat were willing to give up for Kevin Durant was Hakez, Wiggins, Highmith, the 20th pick, I think. Oh, I I think Roier, whatever the salary cap mechanism was. And let me just get the damn tweet. I don’t want to I don’t want to screw it up. I don’t want to screw up Barry’s hard work. So, the direct knowledge heat was willing to offer Wiggins, Roier, Highmith, Hakez, and the 20th pick. Uh, the Suns wanted Hakez, Yoic, Highmith, 20th pick, and a pick swap with the salary cap to work. So he adds, “So Yoic and Casper’s Yakachonis need to work out to justify the decision, which is a difficult one to reach.” But honestly, if they were going to give up the 20th pick either way, like it’s it’s more on Yoic to show, you know, because people were making the point like, “Hey, wasn’t hemith the reason?” And I’m telling you right now, dude, like put on your put on your big boy brain. Like, do you really think the Heat didn’t trade Kevin Durant for Haywood Highmith? And I love Haywood, but like really, come on. like don’t let’s let’s let’s let’s be logical about this stuff. So, in the midst of all that, Barry was tweeting out some stuff and I think he was responding I want to say it was to Heat Muse and Barry had just pointed out that internally that Nico has a lot of fans. I’m going to get the exact tweet here. Bear was doing a lot of he was doing a lot of tweeting about the ah here we go. He was tweeting to heat muse and he said some internally are extremely high on yovic is one big reason. And look, dude, first of all, everybody who knows and watches this channel or watches my radio show or listens to my radio show, they know how I feel about Nico. And I don’t know if I’m going to end up being, you know, right that this kid has got something to him special. It just seems like he does. Um, I think he’s talented. I think he’s coming from one of the best basketball countries in the world. He’s literally learning under the wing of the best basketball player on the planet right now. He is 22 years old. 22 years old. And I’m sorry. I’m just like I was really really reluctant for the Heat to give up on that. Um, the problem with it is with this is he is a unique player and now I do think he’s going to be more comfortable being a guy who can just take open shots and knock down open threes. He’s really done a good job with his shooting. I think that really rattled him last year. I don’t think that will this year. Um, it remains to be seen if the Heat go in a direction where it’s probably not going to happen with Andrew Wiggins on the team. But this does bring the heat to an interesting decision of like if there are big fans of him in the organization. Can we be in a situation where he’s not starting? Like are we just going to go and he’s going to be the sixman? All right. Because I don’t know if that’s prudent. Now he did find a comfortability with it last year and I am full go let’s go six man of the year Nico or most improved player of the year Nicoola Yoic. He stays healthy, dude. And he had, you know, and he had been doing a better job of that. He’s bulked up. Fluke injuries the last couple of ones. A lot like Tyler Hero, like broke the foot, broke the hand. Um, and I don’t know, there’s just an accountability to him. There is a work ethic to him, and there’s also just like an honesty about the way he carries himself that I I don’t know. There’s just something that I think that he should believe in this guy. I really really do. I may look like a a by the end of this. And I also think that him and Kell have a very good chemistry with one another and that him Bam and Kell I think can make the team a little cool and weird. Like Bam, Nico Wear, Norman Powell, Tyler Herro. I’m kind of into seeing a lot of that this year, dude. I know it’s not going to be the starting lineup, but I’m into seeing that combination. I’m into seeing what that brings to the table or Dave or put Dave whatever Dave on spot in the guard too. I’m into seeing that and I and I’m I’m excited about it, you know? Like I’m excited like rebound. You spray out those two shooters alongside him as he’s starting a fast break. Like let’s let’s go, dude. Let’s see what that that can turn into. You got to get the ball in this guy’s hands and let him make some decisions cuz his passing is very very pretty. Very pretty. But I just thought today was an important day. You guys may not care that it was against Germany, but it was a good opponent. He was taking on a good player who’s in his division that he was going headtohead with to lead his team. That team beat Serbia in the World Cup a year ago. And for him to lead him in scoring today in a day where Joker was having a down night on the road, defending his ass off, responding to what could have been a crippling moment where things were unraveling in the fourth quarter. You talk about moments of truth. Eric Sper wanted moments of truth from Nicola Yoic. Well, listen. in a truth of dare game. He picked truth and he came through with some pure basketball honesty. And I’m going to be honest with you, yo, dude.

What a game from Jovic! On awful turnover but otherwise awesome! Guarded Franz, dunks, step back logo 3s, closed the game, took it coast to coast a few times, defensive tips. Just awesome!
Niko just like Herro ie: If he could be healthy for a whole season he’d be an All-Star.
Can we stop talking about old a$$ sensitive can’t win without Steph KD?!? 🙏 For the love of God! No more KD talk EVER AGAIN
Who's ready for another unbelievably mediocre season again?
jooooooooviicccccc duuuuuuuuuuuuddddeee
Jovic is a real rare talent. You don't trade your Young talent
Bro the bam era is over he needs to go so this team can develop ware and Jovic
Spo wasted him last season from lack of minutes
Jovic for that game was the best player on the floor I’m proud of Jovic like a stepson 😆 he really played
They need to let him off his leash this season. Let him prove his worth
We signed dru smith 3 more years
i don’t think we will de much of jovic bam and kelel together only because we don’t have enough frontcourt depth for lineups like that
if we sign a big on a minimum or if Vlad Goldin looks good then maybe we see more of that down the stretch but i doubt it happens early on
So happy for Niko, on a day where they needed it. He brought it against a legit NBA talent in Franz. A step back into a near logo three was insane. Once it left his hand you knew it was in
NIKO JOVIC DUDE…. Ive been saying it for a long time now. If he gets the opportunity, he can be an all-star. He was the best player on the court. I couldn't understand a word those announcers were saying beside when they said JOVIC..That was a fun game to watch. Its not prudent to not have Niko starting and finishing games. PERIOD
Naw Tobin it’s Dru Smith 😂
JOVIC DUUUUDE
Yeah he had a great game he's a good player congrats he still play defense like Herro.😢
spo is not impressed. he will now have kai jones playing over jovic…
Great game for Jovic, it is not saying much as it is a friendly but he is becoming the third player in the team per usage behind Jokic and Bogdan, which is huge as he was not that in the Olympics. For all the Heat fans that want Niko at SF this is great sample, as it seems that he will start at SF throughout the Euro – or at least against tall teams like Germany. My only concern for him would be if Heat play slow and simple offense made for athleticism and not IQ and creation again. See him blossom in Jokic (IQ) oriented system. And the weird thing is that Heat have players that played support in IQ systems (Mitchell-TOR, Powell-LAC, Wiggins-GSW, Fontecchio-Euroleague/Italy, Bam-USA), if the Heat does not change the offense I will stop following them until they trade Jovic..
I’ve been saying it, will keep saying it, and it will come to fruition as long as this horrendous front office and coaching staff don’t screw it up. The Heat will be lousy until they maximize Jovic and build around his unique skillset.
No one on the team can be an offensive engine except him.
They need to trade Herro and Wiggins for as much young talent and picks as possible, and I would also encourage them to trade Bam or Powell as well, but definitely Herro and Wiggins.
They need to surround Jovic with athletic defenders. Already have Ware who Jovic elevates. I don’t mind Bam filling out the front court, but he needs to play off of Jovic instead of the other way around. Then you have 2 point of attack defenders that can hit 3s as your back court. That’s the formula.
So don’t be surprised when our best lineups this don’t have Herro and Powell, but rather Davion/Pelle/Dru Smith with Jovic/Ware/Bam.
One thing I will say Tobin makes me question if I’m a real sports fan or not because watching European basketball on a Saturday is wild
I liked the commercials. Had to find out that $1. U.S. dollar is about 100 Serbian Dinars.
