Boston Celtics vs Los Angeles Lakers Full Game 2010 NBA Finals Game 3

and Billy Kennedy officiating his first Finals game crawford will throw it up binham and Kendrick Perkins will gather at center court last time the Celtics played a finals game here on this floor it was game six in 2008 when they beat the Lakers by 39 to win the championship during the postseason so far home they’re seven and two whereas the Lakers just four and four on the road so far in these playoffs garnett trying to get on track nice move and that’s a big bucket for Garnett and his confidence been struggling mightily in the first two games especially on the offensive end talk about game two started off the same way with Kevin Garnett scoring but it was a fortunate basket that time was a big time postman gaul against Perkins martes left open now garnett comes up to contest shot clock at three won’t go and on the rebound celtics will look to push lot to Garnett garnett had two field goals the entire game two he’s got two in the first minute but if you remember late in that game they threw him an alleyoop he tried to catch it with one hand there he caught it with two and put it down bryant misses again rondo pushing the floor alioop to Don again oh you’re the Lakers that got to be a concern that’s too easy kevin Garnett out running every big on the floor rond doing a great job of getting him involved in transition the Garnett struggles have been a hot topic as they go to Bayham baym misses the dunk our test right there and he lays it in and the Lakers get on the board garnett struggles have been such a topic is maybe thinking that perhaps he was hurt but the knee was bothering more his shoulder was hurt but Doc Rivers saying before the game he’s just fine he just needs to slow it down a little bit but when you run in transition as Allen goes up for his first shot when you run and you get ahead of the play that gives the point guard so many more options offensive foul on our call for a hook you’re struggling get yourself going get ahead of the play here he beats Cassaul down the floor good catch and finish with two hands and then he beats both big men by him inexplicably hugging Perkins instead of going to Garnett in transition because you know you got a big guy or anybody on the floor struggling the worst thing to do is allow him to get some easy lane all of a sudden he establishes a rhythm and gains confidence art trips up Allen and Allen hurt look like he got a Charlie horse as he lies down artest quickly picks up his second and that’s been one of the stories of the first two games there’s a key player picks up two quick fouls before you break a sweat not a smart play by Ron Artes because now all of a sudden Luke Walton comes into the ball game you have Ron Artes defensive presence off of Paul Pierce and now you’re asking Luke Walton to defend it and a lot of players nowadays are wearing football type pads to prevent those Charlie Horse type in injuries as Pierce isolates against Walton perkins the offensive rebound knocked away picked up by Garnett walton only played in one of the first two games there’s Rondo a little shake and bake and knocks down the jumper and that’s where he’s become so dangerous he’s starting to hit that on a consistent basis crowd chanting defense already defense the catalyst for all the fast break opportunities in game two fischer shot too strong tipped by Gasoling for Fischer on the drive good aggressive move pallet and a foul and Derek Fischer gets on the board a chance for a three-point play lack of communication defensively by the Celtics kevin Garnett playing power on the top side paul Pierce allows Fischer to go baseline where there’s no help the ability to get all the way to the cup and take the contact and you’re right Garnett was too high on that on the top side that’s his help responsibility there he’s got to adjust on the dribble get behind and then trap the baseline drive walt on Pierce pierce on the pull up pierce has not shot the ball well in the first couple of games perkins another offensive board blocked by Bryant rondo inside back out Allen that’s a three and Bum oh stolen by Rondo left-handed he banks it in rondo all over the place once again fischer the drive three on two allen fakes the three goes to the rim and Bayham grabs a rebound bham’s been one of the key stories for the Lakers even with that slight tear of his knee still playing very effectively especially in game two kyle Gaul misses here’s the rebound and I like that match up perkins on Gasol rondo looking Garnett back to Rondo good ball movement they did an excellent job in game two 28 assists on their 36 field goals and Phil Jackson wants to talk he normally doesn’t like to take early timeouts little different in the playoffs and especially with the start as the Celics score by seven want to know why they up by seven two words Ron Do great job active hands finishing with the left pushing it in transition getting in the seams not just standing around but cutting to the basket high percentage plays celtics rolling early she’s out shooting before every game three hours before the game that doesn’t mean whether it’s a finals game or a regular season game know Michael touch on that ray Allen how hard he works really is a compliment how many guys master something and continue to work at it here’s a guy has no reason to continue to work on his shooting ability but continues to put himself in position to be great perkins called for travel and that’s the case mark is now in his 14th year he’s 34 he they said he put up about a million jumpers after game one he was very upset with his performance obviously foul trouble was a key part so he didn’t get as many minutes but it made him work extra hard as he always does you know what he talks about he talks about how the key for him is being able to get open he’s got the great shooting skill but his non-stop energy to get open all the time ryan kicks it out walton good extra pass two on the shot clock fisher on the pull up short and a 24sec violation bill Jackson feeling it hit the rim that’s the second time tonight I thought Ray Allen had a wideopen shot turned it down and put it on the floor that time Derek Fischer wide open look turns it down and puts it on the floor you got to be ready to take your shot again kobe Bryant on Rondo and Fischer is on Ray Allen pierce Rondo tipping it you alluded to at the top Marcondo he’s a talented rebounder his timing is terrific and those long arms bryant hearts to the basket draws the foul and I think right there Paul Pierce has to realize he’s guarding Luke Law that has to be a help when Kobe Bryant blows by Rondo pierce has had three good looks missed him here in transition he leaves his help position usually don’t want to give up the corner three but I think it’s a better play to stop Kobe Bryant penetrating and make that ball go to Luke Walton and a key for the Celtics in game two was keeping Kobe Bryant off the free throw line he only took three free throw attempts and gets his first couple here tonight you know just like we saw Rondo is more difficult to deal with in transition because your help is not set it’s the same thing with Kobe Bryant if you can’t get your help set he’s going to have more gaps and more ability to work his way to the free throw line let me remix the crowd yelling that Hobie is not good you think they really believe that i really think crowd should go to the other way and a foul called down the other end you remember back in 2007 in this building that was the year that the Celtics went won 24 games there was a late season game the Lakers played in and the crowd was chanting MVP for him a lot of longtime suffering Celtic fans during that tough year were very upset but he heard MVP chants in this building back in 07 the work chanting MVP just now shot clock at seven and a moving screen called against Boston and it’s going to be Perkins so once again Perkins picks up two quick fouls every game there’s been a starter two quick ones you can see Derek Fischer doing a better job of fighting over screens that time just a solid screen from Bergens fisher as good as it gets at selling those type of offensive fouls so Rasheed Wallace comes in and also into the game very quickly is Lamar Odum bill Jackson said felt that he has to take some of the blame for ODM struggles he feel he’s hadn’t been giving him the regular minutes he hasn’t put him in as early as he normally does because they wanted Binham to get that knee going and and get it loose but he’s got Odum in halfway through the first and that’s understandable but Binham was playing great and the foul they’re going to call it in the active shooting rondo picks up his first and to get back to that I’m sure if you ask Lamar Holdm the bottom line is he’s got to play better he’s a guy that’s a veteran understands what they need from him did not deliver and he’s got to respond well he had a terrific conference finals against Phoenix but he’s been in foul trouble the whole time crowd looking at the replay didn’t feel it was a foul as the Soul misses you know it was the same thing back in 2008 when these two teams played in the finals first three games for ODM he was in foul trouble every game he had 5,000 games one two and three he’s had 5,000 games one two this year yeah I love that rule that’s a great rule let’s have our best players sit out is anybody ready to say they should get a seventh foul i’m going to ask every game until I get an amen jeff Van Gun who put one more foul in the game you asked me the same question at lunch i answered no what makes you think a couple hours later I’m going to change my answer my name’s not Jeff Van Gun because I really think at some time you’re going to see the error of your ways allen struggling with his dribble two on the clock ray Allen fires in and out so after that great start the other night he’s 0 for four to start here this evening but you see the defense by Fischer he’s not giving him any air space making those shots a little tougher kobe Bryant and a foul and Rondo picks up his second personal and again the cross match co Kobe Bryant guarding Rondo leaves Rondo on Bryant that’s not a foul and they said he hit him on the elbow and I like that call i thought he hit him right on the elbow any shooter knows you you get that elbow in the act of shooting the ball makes all the difference well obviously didn’t for Brian cuz he still put it in i’m glad you’re looking at me and not this guy next to us eight straight points for the Lakers and they’ve got two starters with two fouls rondo remains in the game rashid Wallace has Walton on him and he wants the ball wallace a good passer gets it inside and Garnett four for four kyle Gasol decided to half double Rashid Wallace as he posted up a good job by Wallace finding Garnett [Applause] ryan wants to post up odm steps back banks it in a three-pointer for Odum and knocks it in off the glass as his teammates get a kick out of it [Applause] lakers by two after trailing early by seven so a nine-point turnaround for LA Garnett so aggressive inside he hit his first five from the field but if you see he’s made a dramatic change in his approach instead of taking turnaround jump shots where Gasol can impact with his length he has taken it right to his body first one was an up andunder move that he used the rim as Gasol scores on the other end to take away the length of Gasol he’s attacking his body a good adjustment from Garnett meanwhile a nice adjustment from Bryant as he finds Py Gasol can you eat your jersey like Bryant’s doing that should be a something it’s not a violation garnett again shot clock down to six garnett flips it back out rondo up top to Pierce straight on three who’s diving for Garnett comes up with it finds Rondo back out garnett wide open jump shot ronda comes the other way and Rondo’s got to be careful not to pick up a loose ball foul going up for the offensive board where he could pick up his third rondo gets the rebound there pierce quick spin move lost it and they say knock out of bounds still Celtic ball and we’ll have a timeout as we get under the threeminute mark talk about coaching the Celtics well just what the doc ordered kevin Garnett getting it going on the offensive end great job they’re going to allow Pal Gasol to play one-on-one will KG be in attack mode you help off of KG you must pay the price early garnett 10 big points five of six from the field allen with quality looks 0 for nine garnett by himself along with Rondo has gotten him off to a good start those two have all 16 of their points glenn Davis in and Garnett sitting good defense from Fiser gets whacked on a screen rondo a three it’s the side of the backboard they’re 0 for four from downtown after hitting 11 in game two [Applause] the solve tipped by Wallace brian for three and Davis the rebound davis with some big minutes in game two the victory in Los Angeles alex spots up gasol blocks the shot odm the rebound that’s a great job by Pal Gasol chasing down Ray Allen in the corner that’s a big shot attempt to block inside pass and a foul on the pass it’s going to go against Pierce and now that’s two on Pierce two on Perkins two on Rondo you can’t run this break any better rondo puts it on point but Pal Gasol does not quit on the play look at that limp outstanding job of blocking the three-point attempt of Al that’s where Gassol is different than 2008 he talked about it in fact he said that physically he knew he needed to improve after 08 he was outplayed by Garnett so he hit the weights he got himself in better condition and you can see he can deal with the banging he’s able to run up and down the floor very durable player plays big minutes you know everything had been working for him up until that point but he got on the big stage and was thoroughly outplayed i love the fact that he didn’t make any excuses and he’s found a way that when he got back on the stage he was prepared for the moment but I’m going to say this look at those numbers if you average 15 and 10 most people are celebrating that but if you want to be the best big man in the game which he most certainly is offensively he got better and better and better ryan hits the free throw lakers by four got some lead changes game one had just one lead change game two had 22 lead changes we’ve already had a bunch here tonight so far as Tony Allen getting his first minutes davis against ODM davis falling away again side of the backboard rough shooting start for Boston odm was in the back court they got to get it over and Shannon Brown [Applause] odum to Gasol [Applause] now Gaul nice play wallace shut him off first wanted a foul and excellent rejection rondo tries again [Applause] rondo on the drive blocked by Odin with a foul the Celtics want to goend don’t think they’re going to get it as we listen to a Doc Rivers huddle [Music] i like the pace let’s keep that pace going all right hey Paul y’all got great shots we get those shots all game we’re going to have a lot of points tonight we talked about the pace that’s the key wants to force the tempo but that all starts with the defense Jeff right and it’s not just getting the stop but it’s really staying out of foul trouble and not fouling the best transition defense the Lakers can have is get to the free throw line i think the Celtics really have to be concerned 31 free throws given up in game one 41 and now they’re in the penalty early tonight they’re going to have to keep out of the bonus and keep him off the free throw line so they have more transition opportunities rondo’s struggles there continue he’s 3 for 10 in this series now three for 11 in the finals he was shooting better earlier in the playoffs but struggling right now that last foul was on Shannon Brown davis falls down owned him inside to Gasol another whistle and Paso will shoot and the M playing much better tonight it’s not about scoring but you’re talking about rebounding active underneath altering shots and that time making plays that’s when he’s at his best so Gaul will get to the line [Applause] game four of the NBA finals Thursday back here in Boston on ABC tip off shortly after 9:00 and game five Sunday an hour earlier start 8 Eastern time and then if the series goes back to Los Angeles game six and seven will be at the Staple Center misses Brown tips it right to [Applause] final minute first quarter great start for the Celtics recovery by the Lakers pretty pass Allen can’t finish and a foul was So now Allen will go to the line nate Robinson’s going to get some early minutes as the Lakers lead by five there you see Rondo and Garnett all 16 of the points rest of the team without a field goal but Doc River said it well paul Pierce and Ray Allen had very quality looks they just got to knock them in is Rondo will sit Robinson who had six huge minutes in game two when Rondo was absolutely physically spent he had played the entire first three quarters sat down and Robinson had seven points in those six minutes rondo caught his breath came back out and took over the game four-point Laker lead [Applause] brown inside shoots it over Big Baby Davis [Applause] and the crowd has gone silent they were going crazy for about a half hour before tip off all fired up team jumped out to a 6.7 point lead but it’s been a 13-point turnaround shot clock down to five robinson wallace for three fiser ahead to Odum odum on the drive gets inside and a foul wallace hit him in the head and a chance for a three-point play as the Lakers have opened up an eight-point lead but they shot too early and that allowed what should have been a last shot of the quarter situation to turn into a three-point play good advance pass by Derek Fiser good attack by Lamar Odum poor transition defense by the Celtics and you can’t have touch fouls and Lamar Odum getting himself going and coming in the first two games he had more fouls than points he had more fouls than rebounds who’s got five points three boards in just six quick minutes and hits the free throw pink seven remaining davis will not get it off in time and that will end the first quarter as the Lakers end with a 21-5 run celtics came out focused and strong went up by seven with a 16-point turnaround for the road team first quarter complete here in game three lakers a nine-point advantage welcome back to Boston with Phil Jackson what allowed you guys to turn things around after Boston got started so quickly we got off to such a slow start i mean they came out on fire did all the things we didn’t want him to do fast broke got offensive rebounds hey we just had to call a timeout and say “Let’s get ourselves together here and let’s get back out there and do the right things.” And then we started doing the things that we wanted to do your intention was to get Lamar started and you did that why why was he able to get going well I just substituted Lamar in there a little bit early he had a couple breaks had some things to penetration and got a bank shot for a three and those things really help all right Doris he can smile with his nine-point lead and Jeff he mentioned had to call timeout it was unusual for him to do that he uses his timeouts differently than most coaches exactly regular season he’ll allow teams to play through bad runs mistakes to build a self-reliance for them to be able to correct themselves on the floor not so much in the playoffs much more willing to take an early timeout knowing the magnitude of the games it certainly helped them turn it around jordan Farard’s in wallace knocks it away from Bayham nate Robinson stays in the game again rondo a good start but he picked up two fouls pierce two fouls and Perkins two fouls our test has two for LA wallace quick turnaround [Applause] bryant already with four rebounds [Applause] tony Allen on Bryant bryant to the basket banks it in and a foul good aggressive move from Kobe Bryant he’s got nine points and it’s a double figure lead for LA again you’re in a quandry do you help off the corner or you stay at home rasheed Wallace arm help glenn Davis late tony Allen’s doing his job that help has to come earlier and I really think the the free throw differential didn’t cost them in game two but you play at a 15 free throw differential right now it’s an eight free throw differential you’re you’re in big trouble but you say you’re in a quandry you’re really not if you’re in position to help on Kobe Bryant’s drive you have to help stop the basketball and then get back to your man you live with those corner jump shots these are not This is not Ray Allen standing in the corner so you have to give allout help and be able to get back to your man right it was Luke Walton initially and then Lamar Odum and to me you have to step up and prevent like a Fischer from that corner three but I think I agree with you not Lamar ODM not Luke Wall davis he’s going to have trouble over the length of binding backs in up knocked away good help again from the Laker defense laker defense that was so impressive in game one shannon Brown pulls up knocks down the jumper and it’s a 14-point Laker lead and I think Doc R is going to call a timeout [Music] the Celtics struggling after that initial burst of energy they’re shooting just 33% from the field and again the only field goals so far are from Garnett and Rondo the 2010 FIFA World Cup begins ESPN Friday June 11th first at 9:30 a.m eastern south Africa against Mexico then Eastern Uruguay and France the FIFA World Cup on ESPN Friday June 11th like an interesting substitution in the first quarter when Kevin Garnett was rolling about two and change left to go don Gers as Nate Robinson knocks down that jump shot decided to take Kevin Garnett out of the ball game that was a quandry when you talk about waiting for this guy to explode he all of a sudden establishes a rhythm and now he’s he’s got to find it again when he gets back into the ball game that’s their first field goal in six and a half minutes you heard Doc Rivers or perhaps saw him say extra pass extra pass that’s what he keeps telling his team they admit it there binham nice post move from Andrew Bayham and to go along with what Mark said I’m going to go back to him right now we’re struggling he’s rolling and right now they have no post presence because the length is bothering Glen Davis robinson reached in to knock it away but they call him for a foul that’s his first you listen to Doc Rivers we got to get stops we got to get stops that’s how they got this lead they’re attacking you we’re off balance we got to get our balance on defense and we got to get stopped they got the stops in game two when they held the Lakers to 41% shooting farar banks it in they are not getting the stop so far tonight you give this Laker bench a lot of credit they’ve been challenged 15 points in game one found a way all of a sudden to respond 14 points already in game three wallace not close 15-point Laker lead two and a half gone by here in the second our test back in after picking up those two quick fouls nice bounce pass to Odum and Odum gets it to go lamar Odum excellent job off the bench with eight points already that’s as many points as he had the first two games combined how about in game two we saw Ron Artes over dribble that time dribbled just enough and then got rid of the basketball pierce nice lead pass big baby hy that size with that kind of agility in soft hands lakers have made their last seven shots from the field they’re shooting 56% palmar’s bad pass winds up in the hands of our test Shannon Brown robinson creating the floater boy he can score points in a hurry talked about it earlier in the game with the Knicks before he was traded to Boston had a 41-point game off the bench he’s got a bunch of 40-point games in his career [Applause] far fires away tony Allen the rebound you have Allen Robinson Davis out on the floor at the same time with Wallace and the one starter it’s Pierce but they don’t have five guys down the floor and you’re not going to get transition opportunities if you don’t have a big guy sprinting the floor kendrick Perkins is yelling at his teammate from the bench doc Rivers was upset somebody wasn’t doing what they’re supposed to really not running offense right now you push the basketball and nothing’s there you got to get into a set vm trying to get position far off the dribble lost it got it back wallace knocks it away farmer out of bounds good help defense from Rasheed Wallace that’s five turnovers for the Lakers it’s a great job by Lamar not standing around cutting to the basket finishes in traffic and then you talk about the react from the guys on the bench fisher Brian Palo said Kuzi has been very supportive and you ask all the current Celtics and they love the fact there’s Garnett alley can’t handle it and picked up by Gasol they love seeing the former Celtic rates the Hall of Famers the ones whose numbers are up in the Raptors here in the crowd [Applause] and Koozie has become a big fan of Rajan Rondo even though Rondo’s broken some of his records [Applause] perkins gets all up on Bay here comes Allen you talk about those former greats is not like guys hanging around saying what I used to do no it’s a fact what those guys used to do and how great they were just have to look up in the numbers as Garnett puts it in garnett six of eight from the field and he wasn’t a Hall of Famer but beloved Walter Mccardi in the crowd as well tommy Heinson would say “I love Walter.” [Music] [Applause] Marty cheering on Rondo perhaps couple of Kentucky Wildcats bryant lost it condo trying to get it strips him again ball knocked out of bounds lakers have three to shoot ray Allen returns for Tony Allen ray had 27 in the first half game two scoreless so far [Applause] he’s got very quick hands but he does have to be concerned about picking up a cheap third foul high off the glass won’t go pierce the rebound bryant nearly steals it playing a hot potato rondo goes at Fischer scoot layup and they’re going to call a foul on Fischer so Rondo will go to the line as Fischer picks up his second and we’re going to have a timeout just past the midway point here in the second fischer trying to draw the charge rondo eludes him well as the Celtics on a 6-0 run free throws coming up for the point guard thanks for watching ESPN on ABC home of the NBA Finals the Home Run Derby returns to ESPN Monday July 12th there’s eight of the best sluggers in the game swing for the fences at Angel Stadium the State Farm Home Run Derby on ESPN Monday July 12th at 8 Eastern we’re midway through the second here in Boston uh game three of the NBA finals these playoffs have been the emergence of Rajan Rondo as one of the best point guards in the NBA part of his success is his terrific temperament on the court but Rondo is not as low-key as you think i’m I’m more of laidback very observant i try to fill out everything before I um you know start to speak or say anything so that’s what I did I guess when I first came in um they’ll tell you I’m not really quiet on the court or in the locker room so it’s just my demeanor i try to keep even kill demeanor rondo is not what you think he is i can tell you that no he’s a uh he’s very verbal uh extremely verbal uh you know the loudest guy on the airplane uh at times you can hear him all the way in the front of the plane you know yapping and talking and all that stuff uh but uh you know I I think he doesn’t want a lot a lot of people in and I actually think that’s good well you can’t tell he’s got that poker demeanor on the court can’t tell whether he’s too high or too low and you love that Mark as a point guard correct oh absolutely and the thing I love most about him is his IQ and secondly the way the guy competes he has no quit in it well coming up at halftime a very interesting conversation couple of point guards Magic Johnson and Rajan Rondo the soul nearly tips it in twice garnett the rebound that’s coming up and the halftime report rondo right to the basket well Kobe Bryant mad at himself and rightfully so tried to gamble in the back court and paid the price and that wakes up the crowd nine straight points now [Music] Barnett had a great start at his first five he’s six of eight overall show off there by Gasol shot clock down to three rondo makes his move flips it up won’t go perkins with the tip in looked like it should have been offensive goalending and the Lakers upset about it [Applause] tim Jackson rarely looks upset about anything on his comfortable high chair there on the bench [Applause] bham wants the ball art can’t get it to him bryant sets for three perkins the rebound knocked out of his hands good play for Mart and the new 24 for LA bryant the pull up perkins rips that one down quick outlet to Allen twoonone break allen goes up can’t get it to go and an offensive foul called derek Fiser taking the charge as Ray Allen picks up his first i thought that was an excellent call the Lakers are gambling in the back court which is opening up them for transition opportunities good position by Fiser takes the hit you’ve got to get a basket on a twoon one derek Fischer always amongst the leaders in drawing charges does it there as his team leads by 10 in that area but he is still not easy to play with sometimes from a standpoint of he can be very rough and difficult on his teammates which is good your better your best player better not be the best life or you got the wrong best player you got to push sometimes you got to probe and you got to demand barette similar in in some aspects as well with Boston can be very rough on the teammates but you know what Mike you make a good point but give me Kobe Bryant as a teammate any day of the week cuz I know the guy is going to leave it on the floor he’s an all-time great competitor he’s an all-time great player and he’s going to make me better phil Bill Jackson raving about though how last couple years he’s really learned to be a better teammate and trusting him on the floor rondo sets up Pierce pierce finally gets one to go he was 0 for six from the field that’s his first three-pointer of the series and getting back to your point about Bryant he has someone on his team in Derek Fiser that can also keep him in check you know Fischer had a great line the other day as the fouls called he said “I know Kobe wishes I was a little faster and a little quicker and I wish he’d pass a little bit more.” So you have to have someone that doesn’t cower in the face of a strong personality well they came in the league the same time they’ve won four championships together brian has such respect for Derek Fischer the two of them as rookies used to go at it in practice and after practice all the time trying to make each other better pierce by the way picked up that last foul he has three ryan short rondo perkins rolling the floor misses the layup but he got fouled the big guy getting rewarded from his buddy Rondo and he’ll head to the line walton’s first foul see the Celtics understand how they’re going to be most effective pushing the basketball and look at the effort by Kendrick Perkins going coast to coast not able to finish the play but puts himself in position to get to the foul and if you have a big that sprints the floor it’s going to compact it and it will open up the transition three and I like this move by Doc Rivers three fouls on Paul Pierce he’s in the game still he made his first three first bucket of the night and he only he’s not guarding a primary option in Luke Walton coming up at halftime Steuart Scott Magic Johnson Michael Wilbon John Barry the T-Mobile halftime report that analyze the first half and as we said a conversation between former great point guard Hall of Famer Magic Johnson and Rajan Rondo who has been in many ways the best player in the 2010 playoffs [Applause] lake group by eight two minutes remaining in the half bryant can’t get it to fall b trying to keep it alive bryant takes it away from Garnett finds Bon inside counted a foul great hustle play from Kobe Bryant and a chance for a three-point play for the Lakers again not snatching the ball with two hands tipping it with one leaves it loose and leads to a Bryant hustle play and a bindum finish but it’s all starts with the one hand rebound attempt by Garnett you have to rebound the ball in traffic with two garnett’s foul his first ber is coming off the best playoff game of his career hadn’t played obviously a lot 39 total playoff games but he was terrific in game two in that Laker loss lina finishing with 21 points at seven block shots lakers set a finals record for a team with 14 blocks pierce draws the foul and Pierce gets to the line for the first time tonight at the line has been a disaster for Boston here in the first half they’re just three of eight a good job by Paul Pierce attacking not settling on the offensive end putting pressure on our test and if you’re a Laker defense you’ve got to somehow communicate to our test that there’s no help on the baseline side pierce has hit 18 of 19 from the line in the series that’s where he scored much of his points he was shooting 33% from the field coming in just one of seven but he’s been automatic at the line and I thought Pal did a good job there going up straight and vertical and Pierce brought the elbow to him to create the contact look at the shooting numbers from their two main guys their two leading scorers combined one for 12 and they need Paul Pierce especially Pierce because he can create his own shot he can get shots and also get to the free throw line which is going to open up offensive attempts for everybody else on the floor the beauty of the Celtics is they can have one of their key players have an off night offensively and others to pick up the slack don’t know if they can do it with both guys having such off nights i really think the only way that they’re going to score in bunches is pushing the ball pushing the ball off of makes and misses and obviously that’s when they’ve been most effective in this series bryant gets away from Ronda oh what a pretty move left-handed floats it in kobe Bryant 14 points here in the first half he has been superb [Applause] pierce doubled up garnett the drive gets inside again banks it in how about Garnett first two games 22 points total he’s got 14 in the first half in game three aggressive and looking to attack not settling for jump shots going at Palo B soft touch between two Celtics now you can tell already Kobe Bryant has his foot on the gas pedal hasn’t been hot yet but he certainly is getting his looks and putting pressure on this Celtic defense here’s Stubble dangerous pass rondo able to get it shot clock down to three is going to have to put it up steps back too short garnett the rebound and Garnett is fouled luke Walton upset with a call and that puts the Lakers in the penalty so free throws coming up for Boston but the Lakers up 11 as Kobe Bryant has led the way and the question is Kobe or not Kobe left hand floater over the contested hand of Kevin Garnett outstanding job getting into the seams and then talk about touch good defense by Perkins being there but better offense by Bryant kobe or not Kobe i’m working on some things here Mike all right and that last rebound by Garnett not to belabor the two-hand rebound but because he rebounded with two he was able to hold on to it as Walton fouled him and he earned his way to the free throw line in foul trouble in game two just just under 24 minutes well he has played well here in the first half celtics six of 12 from the free throw line shot clock about a second difference with the game clock nice back door walton inside blocked by Garnett for a foul garnett won’t let the foul shot even after the whistle go in but he picks up the personal that’s his second but but because of the pressure that the Celtics put on the Lakers that time they’re going to get another possession it forced the Lakers to go early luke Walton in trouble back door and they got to go towards the hoop really you say bad offense but it’s because of the pressure of the Celtics [Applause] aerial coverage provided by Metife see how Metife can provide the coverage you need visit metlife.com today on a beautiful night in Boston Celtic fans were fired up but Paul Pearson the Celtics struggling shooting the ball just 41% they’re two of 10 from downtown pierce is one of seven ray Allen who had the 27 points in the first half of game two he’s scoreless 0 for five and it’s an 11-point game right now phil Jackson going small because he looks on the floor and Doc RZ has gone small other than Kevin Garnett to try to get a quick possession and a quality look on the offensive end [Applause] and he matches up Lamar Odman on Paul Pierce william’s on Ray Allen shot clock turned off celtics look to hold it for the final shot of the half crowd getting on its feet pierce steps back puts it up and fittingly for the Celtics that’s the way the first half ends trouble shooting the basketball as Pierce just one of eight from the floor and the Lakers after that tough home loss in game two have a 12-point Wyatt made the point they’ve got to get stops when they get stops then they can push the ball and get transition offense and then guys like Pierce and Allen can get it going [Applause] brian Allen in pursuit brian rises up way off the mark here comes Rondo rondo in that first half had nine early points but he had some foul problems picked up a couple of quick fouls the only player with three fouls is Pierce a host of players have two wet was key for Boston allen steps back and remain scoreless same mistake by Kobe Bryant to start the third quarter in game two resulted in a wide open but made three ray Allen same mistake by Bryant leads to a wide open three he misses and that is the vulnerability of the three-point shot as Garnett I mean as Gassol knocks it in gasol having a nice allaround game has eight points seven boards and three assists leads back to 14 the highest it was was 17 garnett continues his hot shooting night eight for 10 from the field body just looks so much different lot live the other night making high percentage moves aggressively and ironically comes after you know the quick turnaround he had some rest before games one and two and was not effective the quick turnaround and he’s sharp tonight our test line drive binham with a rebound rebounding numbers plus seven for the Lakers but that long rebound Mike isn’t just on as this one isn’t it’s not just on the big when that ball rebounds long pierce and Allen and Rondo does it well have to come in and get those long rebounds versus expect Perkins and Garnett to get the long i thought a bad possession by Bryant had Gassoul fresh off of making a jump shot on the block turned him down to get his own action and then missed a tough jump shot pierce jump shot that’s a three just his second field goal of the night they’re both three-pointers and it brings the Celtics within nine crowd looking for something to cheer they were pretty quiet on that great run from the Lakers fiser trying to answer with a three bum the rebound bham tied up hits under the backboard has it blocked the soul trying to get it knocked and it’s going to be Sel excellent post defense from Boston little help from the bench but they are getting pounded on the board here to start the third quarter and that is never a good sign it’s what really hurt them in game one all the second chance points barnett nice pass and a foul call on Fischer three fouls on Derek Fiser and you can see the momentum swinging right now pierce does a good job getting rid of the basketball and then getting it back so moving without the ball being patient offensively and that patience is rewarded and Ray Allen will go to the line allen scoreless 0 for six from the field 0 for four from three and he talks about here’s one of the great shooters in the history of the league now sometimes getting to the free throw line and seeing the ball go in the basket can get you started no doubt when you’re struggling as a scorer/shooter to get a free throw get a layup to see the ball go in the basket that can get you started they’re asking him before the game who are shooters that he likes he said first guy he mentioned Dale Ellis another guy Dale Curry he said had the quickest release and then he mentioned Reggie Miller surprisingly enough all three of those guys former teammates of mine here comes Rondo off the turnover looking Allen for three he got a piece of it i think Otess got a piece of it they’ve done that twice now on and that’s where he’s got to drive versus the hard close out to run him off his shot it’s also where the Lakers are making a second effort defensively to contest and Perkins I think it’s on Perkins or is it Pierce [Music] paul Pierce just picked up his fourth foul and that’s a bad foul obviously pierce is going to have to sit down doc Rivers looking at his bench right now he stays in the game with four well I’m Doc Rivers i leave him in the ball game but I make sure he stays on Ron Artes i don’t want him guarding Kobe Bryant because it’s too much pressure for him to pick up that fifth even this early in the third keep him in with four well because he he would be guarding Ron Artes and I think it’s an easier matchup and he can be smart but I need his presence on the offensive end i’m fine with him staying there garnett the drive tried to draw the foul ray Allen gets it flips it up that won’t go bottom the rebound good defense from the Lakers they’ve played excellent defense all night bryant too strong on the three he’s had a good solid game but he hasn’t shot well six of 17 but this just in he’s not going to stop he’s 0 for four from downtown garnett to the basket and he gets hit hard good hard playoff foul send Garnett to the free throw line but his whole mindset has to been to go to the basket on his post up game and his face up game off the block versus trying to create space for a jump shot he sees this all crowding him good inside pivot good attack and good foul by Binham trying to fire himself up that’s normally not a problem as Binham picks up his first do you think he bruises himself when he does that like if I hit myself that hard I’d be black and blue but you easily bruise don’t you well I don’t know but I’m just saying that those are some shots you should be used to those type of shots when people were taking your lunch when you were younger you know I did get bullied no I was at a little league game right and my dad until I was a high school freshman made me have a buzz cut and that’s when the buzz cut wasn’t cool i had a kid spit on my head and make a wish as he rupted why did you ask her that question why i still feel bad hope your brother Stan stepped in and protected you it was Stan that did it celtics within seven fisher fakes rondo got a piece of it and Fischer got the shot off he also got a piece of the arm and Rondo has picked up his third foul well you Doc Rivers you take Paul Pierce out of the ball game and put in Tony Allen now you’re challenged to score but let’s remember Tony Allen is a guy that has given big minutes in this playoff season it’s not Tony Allen’s game it’s how it fits with Rondo’s game and Perkins game to me in that you’ve got three not non-shooters but limited range players so it really puts the squeeze on Allen and Garnett because they’re not going to play with as much space i think you’re being very nice that’s three nonshooters now are they capable of making shots yes but those are three nonshooters lead back to nine brian has done a good job on Rondo tonight and after the early hot start [Applause] i like this matchup much better for the Lakers putting Andrew Bayham on Kevin Garnett using that length and able to contest on the first allen misses got away with a push off beforehand and it’s going to be Laker ball let’s see arguing now they’re going to check and they say still LA but Doc Rivers was talking to us before the game about they need simultaneous action to defeat the Laker link right there that was all one-sided action and so the help came early as Allen got that shot and Gaul impacted the arc and trajectory of Allen’s floater allen the post kevin Garnett getting too aggressive so Garnett has his third foul not a penalty yet see it’s just Ray Allen you got Tony Allen stationary so now Artest can clog the lane gasol can now come over and contest and Artest is sitting and helping the helper [Applause] art posting up now gets it in the bottom bum gathers himself can’t get it the ball gasol nearly tips it in the length of the Lakers really causing problems [Applause] pearson Art already grappling Ali to Bryant oh blocked by Bryant off the turnover kobe Bryant and that’s an NBA record set for the jump shot knocks it down the greatest rivalry in NBA history it’s their 12th Finals matchup and some of those who participated in earlier ones on hand killer Male now a broadcaster with NBA TV dm Danny A and Bill Walton watching his son got to throw a Laker in there there’s Magic Johnson with us here on ABC kobe Bryant trying to add to a new chapter of this terrific rivalry what’s cool is that even the general managers of each team are part of it mitch Cupjack won a title with the Lakers danny Ames won a couple with the Celtics now they’re running the show as B can’t keep it alive try to Salvatore asking for help they’re going to say Laker ball i’ll tell you what I would love to coach the guys that we have shown on TV tonight and that’s clearly off Vinham but unlike the end of game two they can’t look at a replay it’s only the last two minutes in overtime [Applause] even on miss call i like that i’d like to extend it a little bit more in the fourth quarter but not all the way into the first quarter offensive foul ray Allen did a good job shuffling the feet that’s Kobe Bryant’s first that’s good defense by Ray Allen all by himself able to take the hit kobe Bryant says to Shannon Brown he’s got to be further away to give him space where Tony Allen can’t sit in the lap and help brian had five fouls in game two almost fouled out he hasn’t fouled out in a playoff game since 2002 nice pass perkins blocked gets it back puts it up again and find him the rebound once again the Lakers size stopping the Celtics great reaction by Kobe Bryant [Applause] fisher inside pass the song eighth turnover for the Lakers great screen set but Kobe Bryant doesn’t give up on the play blocks the first shot bayham impacts the second shot and again there’s just not much room on the floor for the Celtics right now and it almost seems like with Kobe Bryant he’s thinking at some point I’m going to put a string together and you feel it coming along because he’s not taking his foot off the gas pedal rushing some shots but it’s just a matter of time if you’re the Celtics you got to get a run so Basol another nice pass four assists for the Laker big man fisher up on Allen ray Allen 0 for 10 tonight inside pass Tony Allen and the finish good read by Ray Allen putting the ball on the floor and making the play for Tony Allen celtics have had a number of droughts in this game that’s their first field goal in nearly six minutes they’ve gotten some points at the free throw line and Kendrick Perkins doesn’t need help here and he’s one of the best in the league in post defense bryant on the pull up gets it to go again ryan’s had some very big road games in these playoffs especially in those clinchers in the first three rounds ray Allen still without a field goal and a foul’s going to be called on ODM a loose ball foul 14 foul against the Lakers and second on ODM you see the mentality of Bryant struggling a little bit from the field so he gets something going to the paint area all of a sudden confidence and he sees the ball going into the rim now he can get to his spot elevate over the contested hand that’s easy offense for Bryant celtics will take it out of bounds again the 14 foul with 326 remaining you talk about so many fouls the first two games actually it’s been the most fouls in first two games of a final since 96 not nearly as many tonight they’d let them play a little bit more shot clock at eight ray Allen’s got the soul on him trying to take him off the dribble inside pass and it’s still going to be Celtic Paul they call a foul they do call a foul hard to hear the whistle there and Big Baby will go to the line and that’s the second straight play that Ray Allen has made off the dribble and Kobe Bryant with a 22point five assists game and tie with Jerry West the great Jerry West his big baby Davis hits the free throw davis in the first couple of games at Staple Center he was wearing earplugs but it wasn’t to drown out the crowd it was because remember that concussion he suffered in the Orlando series who said the noise was bothering him he has recovered from that concussion it’s had a nice impact for the Celtics off the bench where caring happens plenty of green here at the TD Garden but their Celtics are down by eight with 304 remaining here in the third and big baby to the line had a strong game too 18 minutes he took 13 shots but he had eight points seven rebounds a block a steal just plays so hard in the minutes that he gets and it’s back to seven the largest lead was 17 celtics starting to hit their free throws they’ve hit all eight here in the period after the bad first half a deflection but right to Bryant great feet there by Glenn Davis as Bryant takes another jump shot guarding the leaner Lamar Odum did a great job of keeping him in front coming up on two and a half left in the third rondo Tony Allen left open in and out nine rebounds for Gassol shannon Brown looking for Fiser good job from Tony Allen fighting through the screen the soul tipped by Rasheed Wallace he’s done that a couple of times tonight but again they’re not running with their big guys like their starting bigs run tony Allen the drive banks it in kobe Bryant wanted a charge just good aggressive move from Tony Allen under two minutes remaining here in the third quarter of game three cel fans starting to come alive their team down by as many as 17 have cut it to five and a whistle away from the ball with a 14 foul as Rasheed Wallace picks up his second kobe Bryant playing him right encouraging the jump shot looks like he takes it into the chest good finish by Allen I thought good defense by Bryant [Applause] boston will take it out with 141 remaining in the third rivers team had that early surge they led by seven in the opening minutes came out on fire but then the Lakers were on a huge run a 24-point turnaround in the first half allen again deflexing Bryan the three puts it in kobe Bryant from downtown those are the shots that hurt you he plays outstanding defense and then a great player makes a tough shot he’s got 25 inside to Wallace wallace back shot once again wallace contributing off the bench all he did is bring it out give this bench for the for Doctors a lot of credit they’ve given them a chance to be back in this ball game and win gaul to Bryant shot clock down to seven final minute third quarter falling away double clutch won’t go odm couldn’t get it rondo tipped it away celtics have numbers allen to Rondo nice pass cody Allen but the Lakers are getting into the habit of give it to Bryant and think he’s going to do it all that was a very unaggressive post move by Pal just catch it every now and then as been terrific 62% shooting in this series and 57% from the playoffs he’s four of nine tonight shot clock is off against Fiser pulls back jump shot at the buzzer won’t go and the third quarter will come to an end the Celtics were down 17 in the first half down 12 at halftime and they’ll head to the fourth quarter down six as the Lakers Kobe Bryant having one of those games Mark oh absolutely not shooting the type of percentage that he would love to shoot but finding a way to will the basketball in until he gets hot this is a big time shot gets the defense in the air knocks down the dagger jump shot lakers up by six 25 as the bench helping out in that third quarter cutting the lead in half from halftime as Tony Allen had six of those 10 points rashid Wallace helping on the boards the Lakers still have the lead by six as we head to the fourth you know we talked so much about the Celtics resiliency this year and how they struggled through injuries and inconsistent play to get that fourth seed and make it to the finals lakers did the same thing they didn’t finish the season well either they were four and seven their last 11 games phil Jackson said as they headed to the playoffs this team still has some issues but they have shown great resiliency especially the way they bounced back that disappointing loss in game two they’ve been very strong here tonight and we’ll have a jump ball and I thought Rondo right there should have turned the corner thinking score it’s going to open up his passing lanes more that time I thought he came up thinking pass rondo’s taken eight shots in the game he said one of the keys for game two was how aggressive he was said Danny A told him be aggressive look for your shot he took 18 shots in game two doc R’s got to be satisfied right now being down six going into this fourth quarter you talk about if you said to him “Well KD has 19 points.” He’d be excited the problem is that Rondo Pierce and Allen have 19 also combined tony Allen to Glenn Davis it’s a four-point game allen and Davis again providing the energy off the bench shannon Brown and Jordan Far back right now for the Lakers is Kobe Bryant getting that early fourth quarter rest and a foul is going to go I believe against Paul Pierce pierce has not been able to get anything going that’s his fifth foul he’s just two of nine from the field he’s played sporadic minutes because of the foul problems [Applause] there were two of them jostling for position pierce is the one that got caught and he’ll sit down and Ray Allen will return and Kobe Bryant comes in for Ron Artes so a quick rest for Kobe Bryant well and that’s because Pierce goes out that’s our test you saw one for two five-point Laker lead opening minute fourth quarter game three of the NBA finals they’ve already had one road win in this series davis back to Rondo davis wants the ball against ODM odm still taller than him davis bullies his way in and banks it in what a tough move for Glenn Davis once again great minute from Glenn Davis this is the closest they’ve been since the first quarter gaul [Applause] now Gaul the runner davis rips it down he is energizing his team and the crowd here goes Rondo shuffle pass Davis and an offensive foul farar steps in and draws the charge that’s good defense by Jordan Farar double high screen your job as the guard is to get back into the play so rather than quitting on the play he gets in position takes the hit from Glenn Davis a clear offensive foul but you love the energy by Davis puts him in an isolation situation and he attacks the body of Lamar that’s the first Celtic turnover of the second half they only had two turnovers in the second half of game two [Applause] rondo deflects it but it goes to Brown shannon Brown the drive bryant puts up a three rondo looks to push rondo to the basket flips it up banks it in one-point game timeout Lakers [Applause] 15 Celtic points has the bench DNA all over i know coming into these playoffs there was question marks about the bench they had ups and downs during the regular season some said the bench in ‘ 08 was better and they certainly had some big games well this bench is starting to have some huge games as well and let’s face it they have turned up the defense the Lakers have 16 points in 15 and 12 minutes brian tied up nicely by Tony Allen’s going to have to force it up won’t go good boxing out from Ray Allen here come the Celtics and Fiser on a reaching that’s four fouls on Fiser boston ball you got to give credit tony Allen is doing an outstanding job defending Kobe Bryant without fouling him that’s where you get in trouble staying down staying down and then does a good job of contesting great defense by Allen not just on that possession but he has made it hard for Bryant and he’s influencing Bryant to his left hand when he’s up beyond the three-point line against Fisher offensive foul on Glenn Davis they call Ray Allen so Allen picks up his f his second and it’s only the sixth turnover of the game for Boston what a night it’s been for Ray Allen after one of the great shooting performances in NBA Finals history he’s 0 for 11 and could tie the worst shooting performance in NBA Finals history which is 0 for 14 dennis Johnson one of those who had it he did it with Seattle fischer to the basket oh tough drive from Daryl Fischer and the Lakers back up by three [Applause] but you know Ray Allen’s 0 for 11 i don’t think he’s going to turn a good open look down where a lot of guys would wallace for three ming his ninth rebound that’s a good shot for Rasheed Wallace he’s a knockbound shooter had air space just couldn’t knock it down and what a difference a game makes they’re just three of 15 from downtown after lighting it up in game two shot clock down to five bryant puts up a three well short and the Celtics will take control with 815 remaining tony Allen shaking up i thought a bad job by the Lakers had Rondo defending Luke Walton and went away from him he’s got to get up you don’t want to waste a timeout here stagger off they’re going to That’s exactly what he’s going to do a shot connect fighting over that screen [Applause] it over the foot the foot hit him in the neck allen’s going to stay in the game pierce checks back in pierce with five fouls hard to believe for Boston you got Allen and Pierce to combine two for 20 and the Celtics are only down by three and now Allen’s going to sit maybe Lert they’ll check on him and because of Paul P coming back into the game Phil Jackson calls on Ronald waiting at the scores table garnett jumper knocks it down what a game for Garnett 21 points and just coming in his first touch since sitting out over eight minutes he doesn’t hesitate and he knocks it in luke Walton playing some big minutes for the Lakers shot clock down to seven again fischer from way downtown odum the offensive rebound and the put back odm with his best game of the series 10 points four rebounds the Lakers are getting horrible shots right now over dribbling this is no resemblance to the Triangle offense rondo gets it to Davis davis goes reverse misses the layup but a foul called and Davis will shoot more free throws lakers upset bill Jackson says to him “Calm down and Rondo dribble penetration glenn Davis that’s not a foul that’s a missed layup yep bum agrees with you Mark once again Davis on the court in the fourth quarter important time doc Rivers showing trust in Big Baby i was just wondering do you think Phil Jackson’s parents ever had to tell him to calm down i don’t think so like I think that guy was calm coming out at birth he probably never cried as a baby either he had his moments as a player he was a very physical player with the Knicks on them elbows around called him action Jackson you’re a little too young to remember that jackson with 10 NBA titles and as we said in game one this is his 13th final in the last 20 years think about what you just said unbelievable 13 finals in 20 years he and Bill Russell have dominated the finals fischer misses bingham the rebound the put back on go still loose and Garnett comes away with it rondo a good transition defense from the Lakers just over five minutes gone by fourth quarter two-point game rondo to the basket davis the offensive rebound knocked out of his hands dives on it but can’t hold on [Applause] ryan against Pierce art combo falls down Fischer trying to force it in and gets it to go eric Fischer gives the Lakers a four-point lead what a playoff performer he has been over the years but with all these stops the Celtics are still playing slower instead of faster even after makes they should be pushing that thing garnett against Bayham binham got a piece of it nice block shot and Odum the rebound and once again that’s what we talked about having Bayum on Garnett rather than Gassoul’s ability to contest and make it tough they’ll pass the midway point here in the fourth celtics come back from 17 down but have not been able to regain the lead foul on Rondo and we’ll have a timeout as Rondo picks up his fourth talk so much about Kobe Bryant in the four rings derek Fischer has them too and he’s been a big part of all of them and these are shots that he works on every single day so he puts himself in position when the lights are on to knock them down derek Fishing with a big time leaner since their second half defense has been above and beyond great fischer a contested shot gets it to go again derek Fischer not afraid to take the big shots give me this guy any day of the week certainly not afraid for what I talked about before the break he puts the time in inside to Davis davis banks it in and a foul big baby with a big impact once again andrew Bayham taken out of the game less shot blocking in there kobe Bryant a little bit late on the rotation and big baby making faces to the crowd second foul on Bryant if you’re down in a game you there should be a no face policy to the crowd home wrote no pose policy i don’t agree with that no sticking out your tongue i don’t agree with that when you talk about what this guy has done he’s put his team in position because of his energy his passion and playing with force he’s earned the right to pose big baby he’s got eight points in the fourth quarter in the first seven minutes crowd getting on its feet rondo on Fiser odm artist from the corner won’t go ray Allen the rebound this defense has been outstanding too much dribbling by the Celtics good defense from Mart almost steals it yes knocks it off of Davis’s leg and it’s Laker ball and that’s what you want from a guy don’t just surrender a entry pass active hands in the passing lane and then pursuing the basketball and so crafty with that left hand knocks it off the body of Glen Davis great call by Bennett Salv fischer again bangs it in derek Fiser huge contributions here in the fourth quarter eight points and it’s a five-point game and that one two pick and roll is right now killing the Celtics they’re trying to show instead of switching and Fish is turning the corner fisherounding and just a little too aggressive on his denial on Ray Allen so Fischer picks up his fifth foul and Lakers with their 14 foul and the problem is if you switch this then Rondo’s on Bryant if you just show then Fish is going to his strong hand which is his left rond got away with some contact but Fischer right now having his way and that’s where Rondo gambling from behind makes it easier for Fiser to line up a wide open shot knocks down the three and it’s back to a two-point game he’s three for 10 from the field but three for four from downtown under four to play and the Celtics this time switch it odm the drive oh pretty move from Odum odm’s five for five from the field it’s a good aggressive play by ODM getting into the paint area three and a half remaining [Music] ray Allen allen still without a field goal 0 for 11 try to get on track puts up the three won’t go davis nearly tips it in and Gassoul comes away with a rebound and once again coach Blake has get away with cheating the screen ray Allen another wide open look just not able to knock it down he’s 0 for seven from three-point range unbelievable after his record setting performance in game two bryant off the mark davidson on a rebound under three to play garnett spins puts it up puts it in kevin Garnett what a game he’s had 23 points more than the first two games combined [Applause] the Lakers right now leading by four with 217 remaining here in the fourth quarter from Boston kobe Bryant is 0 for four in the fourth so who has come to their rescue derek Fischer 13 points but eight here tough points in the fourth four for six from the floor a little leaner then the one two pick and roll that Mark was talking about into the left hand pull up and then Rondo gamble and he hits a tough banker you know these are really will shots right now he’s got great will and he’s not afraid to shoot with the game on the line bill Jackson says he wants to be part of critical plays because he has such belief in himself to take the big shot now he’s going to be a unrestricted free agent after this season lakers want to have to make a decision to sign him fischer says he still has a number of years left in him but he is showing it once again in the playoffs garnett pulls up knocks it down again devin Garnett with 25 and it’s a two-point game and that’s good defense by Pow Goul but better offense by Kevin Garnett celtics have a foul to give bryant on the drive allen stays with him brian rises up knocks it down that’s his first points of the fourth quarter tough shot by Bryant 10 for 28 a lot of bad shots tonight but when it matters most he’s not thinking about that rondo [Applause] [Music] here’s trying to get on track he’s had a rough shooting night except from three garnett double team knocked out of bounds still Celtic ball 13 to shoot lakers felt that it was off Garnett now they can check it on the replay if they want and we’re going to have a timeout a 20 second timeout and they will review that play we’ll take a break while the officials look at the replay kobe Bryant his first points of the fourth quarter but big ones it’s given the Lakers a four-point lead 129 remaining fourth quarter game three [Music] t-mobile asked now 129 remaining fourth quarter as you see both teams with multiple timeouts celtics have a foul to give the officials looking at an out- of- bounds call they had one at the end of game two and it looks like it looks like it went off the left hand of Garnett initially I thought Bryant hit it out of bounds but certainly the left hand of Garnett oh nice play by Bryant just got the ball but a good play by Lamar ODM not allowing Garnett to play Bryant one-on-one he comes over and doubles takes him out of a rhythm poster and it was very interesting too the Lakers basically called for it there was no indication right away by the officials that they wanted to review it the Lakers then Phil Jackson moved down the sideline or and requested it and then they reacted to go to the review and again it’s a brand new rule this year last two minutes of the fourth quarter in overtime on out of bounds plays the officials can see whether or not Danny Crawford telling Doc Rivers and it looks like they’re going to overturn it because Doc Rivers is not happy it’s going to be a dude who’s going to be like the ball and if Doc Rivers hadn’t called the timeout they wouldn’t have reviewed it because until Phil Jackson made the request they were not going to review that great hands from Bryant and then you see after he slapped it away it went off the fingertips of Garnett after it left his hand that’s a good call and the right call and obviously the rule gets the right thing going here so it’s Laker ball with 129 remaining gasol Fischer Odum Artest and Brian on the floor for the Lakers that’s the fourth Celtic turnover in the fourth quarter they had four total in the first three lakers haven’t turned it over in the fourth completely different from game two [Applause] bryant pulls up won’t go rebound odum tips it rondo trying to get it knocked out of bounds and it’s still Danny crawford says jump ball it looked like Rondo touched it last now Doc Rivers looks at Danny Groin and says “Why don’t you take a look at that?” And that’s what they’re going to do oh now on the replay that looks like it’s off ODM yeah it looked like it was off ODM absolutely and the the the thing about the jump ball call that’s really good is it gives him the option even if it’s inconclusive he can go with one or the other right let’s see if this one Well that that’s clearly off of ODM well we said that the last game when it was clearly off Garnett celtics ball so they call it Celtics call the replay rule effective two times in a row here with 110 remaining this is exactly why they put it in a huge game like this you want to get those calls right and as a coach you may be frustrated but the bottom line is both calls have been made correctly and again because of the review on that first one Celtics got that 20 second timeout back coming up on a minute remaining Allen for three won’t go again allen off the mark 0 for 13 from the field same type of makes he had fisher to the basket gets hammered and he puts it in derek Fiser hard to the basket and the Lakers go up by six with 48.3 remaining but the Celtics played that like the game was over trotting back no transition defense no urgency 10 points now in the period for Fiser gets hammered still gets it to go and he can add to the lead the foul is on Glenn Davis his third you talked before about Kobe Bryant has so much admiration and respect for his longtime teammate how about Ray Allen after that magnificent performance in game two he’s 0 for13 and 0 for8 from three-point range and they’ve been good looks now Doc Rivers will call a full timeout and the Celtics in a little bit of trouble 22nd 87 central on ABC and this place has gone silent the TD Garden rockus all night long hoping for a huge comeback but right now the Lakers in control seven-point lead 48.3 remaining pierce looking for an opening pierce on the drive gets inside and banks it in and a foul paul Pierce with a chance for the traditional three-point play phil Jackson can’t believe it lakers switching a lot of these screens ends up where Pierce is being guarded by Gasol odm switches out and that’s a good call and a good finish by Pierce all right now Pierce hits this it would make it a four-point game celtics do not have to foul yet with 40 seconds remaining and they still have two timeouts two 20 second timeouts a lot of time still left in this ball game you want to extend your defense ball knocked out of bounds that it’s Laker ball but they’re going to review it again and how critical has this replay rule it actually looked like it went off Lamar and Rondo does a great job of getting into the paint area trying to get the offensive rebound yeah but he fouls him see the problem is here it’s clearly off ODM but Rondo clearly fouled him to knock it off ODM and that’s not reviewable right the foul isn’t so the officials are going to check it why not it’s the rule it’s an NBA Finals game even though it obviously extends the game the rules there they got to look at it but you’re right Jeff that’s a hard thing you’re not going to call a foul on Rondo but ODM touched it last rondo so good on the boards now obviously he fouls here but he’s just such a pest [Music] so for the third time in these last two minutes they’ll use the instant replay for an out- of- bounds and the additional benefit is the Celtics get a free timeout to diagram what they’re going to run i think the other thing also if if you call the foul on Rondo and Lamar ODM’s going to the foul line to shoot two free throws so that’s been stripped away also all right so now 39 seconds remain both teams are now in the penalty so any foul go to the free throw line except for the offensive foul celtics will take it out of bounds rasheed Wallace is in the game with Rondo Pierce Allen and Garnett if I’m Derek Fischer I don’t care how many shots Ray Allen has missed all night i don’t want to give him any open look if I’m the Celtics I’m thinking two for one i’m thinking about going quick right here rondo looking for Allen allen trying to find room on the drive gets inside offensive foul garnett on a moving screen and the Lakers get the ball and Ray Allen had a dead layup and still couldn’t put it in even though it wouldn’t have counted and this is the correct call clearly a shove by Kevin Garnett an unnecessary one because Ray Allen had already turned the corner and Garnett picks up his fourth because it’s an offensive foul you don’t shoot now do they have to foul here Jeff i think absolutely buyic in the game and I would have fouled on the catch you haven’t played and there’s the foul luichic just coming in he played 11 seconds so far tonight before coming in here now so Sasha Vuyo was a big part of the team in 2008 when they lost to the Celtics not playing that much in these playoffs these are his first free throws of this series in fact his first free throws of the playoffs [Applause] frank if you’re a great free throw shooter you’re a great free throw shooter i saw Jeff Van Gundy with a suit and tie on knock down free throw after free 85% during the season but he only took 33 free throws all season but pressure right there vichic cold goes to the line knocks down two and it’s a seven-point game doc Rivers calls another timeout celtics certainly had their opportunities but couldn’t convert on some key possessions just the opposite of game two and the Lakers on the verge of regaining the homecourt advantage now the series will continue Thursday night and then Sunday both those games four and five right back here at the TD Garden 9:00 Eastern on Thursday an hour earlier Sunday and that would head back to the Staple Center if necessary but again the Lakers showing resiliency they were disappointed phil Jackson upset after the loss they bounced back and withtood every rally here tonight Mark and you got to point the finger at Derek Fischer when it mattered most this guy stepped up and made plays tough shots but made tough shots giving the Lakers some breathing room and Derek Fischer just so huge 11 of his 16 here in the fourth quarter once again a clutch performer at the most important time of the year they go aloop to Garnett has to come down and then throws it away and the Lakers are going to regain homecourt advantage they come to Boston and beat the Celtics here in game three a terrific victory for LA they led almost the entire game and withtood a furious rally by the Celtics the place was going crazy here in the fourth quarter with Derek Fischer and the Lakers pulled off the Celtics think about it kobe Bryant 10 for 29 pal Gasol 5 for 11 ronard Test 1 for four bayham three for nine no starter other than Derek Fischer played at a really high level offensively and yet they come out of here with the win because of Fischer’s greatness in the fourth and also because their defense was good and they built themselves a cushion key part of the defense forcing turnovers lakers had four turnovers through the first three quarters six of them here in the fourth quarter and the Lakers lead the NBA finals two games to one paul Pierce lets it go in 91 to 84 and a big road victory for Los Angeles silence in the crowd kobe Bryant and his backcourt partner who played more playoff games had more playoff wins

  1. The Lakers had a good team, but they only had one All-Star and that was Pau Gasol who was an All-Star two years before he joined the Lakers and then became an All-Star as a lakers, just think Jordan had at least two to three all stars, and LeKaren had 21 All-Stars, it's Kobe and Jordan or Jordan and Kobe at the top and LeKaren is not top 50.

  2. Luke Walton was like sleepwalking the whole game.He kept making mistakes, doing wrong defense and appearing where he shouldn't be wtf😂😂

  3. Derek Fisher's 4th quarter takeover. Saved Kobe's bacon, no two ways about it.

11 points for the 5x champ. Kobe had four, two of which were FT's in garbage time. Was completely MIA in the 4th quarter on offense. I'm tired of the way so called Lakers fans try to shit on these teams like it was all Kobe when that great frontcourt was the real advantage the team had in every game.

  4. Watch the possession that starts at around 1:12:30. Kobe doesn't touch the ball until the shot clock is almost up, he chucks up a 3pt prayer. Box score says inefficient, missed the shot. Eye test says no shi sherlock, he heaved a contested prayer with the clock running out. Multiply that 1000x in a career.

  5. Boston never lost they got robbed money is man's worse IDOLATRY
    God said.
The love for money is the root of all Evil.
I got to find out is true.
Please to everyone be very careful

  6. KG Absolutely Abused pau gasol KOBE Really beat a Superteam Without another Superstar KOBE&MJ are the Best!!!!

  7. 38:55 look at this play by Kobe (specifically for the KOBE HATERS): up to this point he's not having a particularly great shooting night, but his impact has been felt, especially on DEFENSE.

But here on this play, he drives, misses, but then look at the effort to keep the play alive, and look how ramped up he gets his team after the success of his hustle. THIS is the type of EFFORT and LEADERSHIP that gets your team LOCKED IN to WIN. Thats all that matters at the end of the day: WINNING, not STATS.

  8. 51:16 LMFAOOOOOO KG fell back in slow motion like an OLD MAN, young KG woulda posterized that shit… even KG laughing as he's getting up 🤣🤣🤣

  9. Why is the crowd going THIS CRAZY at the very beginning. You'd think the Celtics were closing the game out lmaoo
