BREAKING: Raptors Make MASSIVE Move… This is Absolutely Perfect

We have some breaking news as a bombshell report just dropped regarding the Raptors front office as Shams Trania revealed Bobby Webster is going to be the head of basketball operations for this team moving forward. Now, a lot of Raptors fans were worried that this might get messed up by Edward Rogers and ownership. And all eyes are now pointed to what the next moves will be for this Toronto Raptors team given the fact that they are over the tax and now have Bobby Webster in a position of leadership ready to make his moves and get his fingerprints all over this roster. So, we’re going to break down how this signing went, what are the specifics behind Bobby Webster becoming the head of basketball operations? because a lot of people were hoping this would be the case, expecting this to be the case, but the actual specifics of this hiring are a little bit different than a lot of people expected. So, we’ll break down those specifics and most importantly what it means for the Toronto Raptors moving forward. So, lots of stuff to discuss out here in this video, but folks, you guys have been supporting the channel all summer and I cannot thank you enough. And now we have leadership in place, everything is set up. The season is just around the corner. Make sure you guys hit that subscribe button if you’re part of the 53% that haven’t hit that sub button yet so you stay up to date with everything that’s going on with this new era of Toronto Raptors basketball. But let’s dive into it because frankly this is exactly the move, the decision I wanted to be made by the Raptors front office. So let’s take a look at the report. Chomps dropped today that Toronto Raptors are appointing general manager Bobby Webster as the team’s head of basketball operations and the sides have reached a new contract. sources have told ESPN Webster joined the Raptors in 2013 as Messiah Jerry’s first hire and now lands the top executive role. So, first things first, just to clarify what’s going on, Bobby Webster is now the lead decision maker. He’s the guy, you know, all these terms, all these things. He is the top of the pecking gord. He’s the top of the food chain with the exception of ownership, you know, because of course, you know, Eddie Rogers, Uncle Eddie can come in and try to veto and move any any of these types of deals. But Bobby Webster is now the lead guy in terms of shaping the direction for this Toronto Raptors front office negoti all that type of stuff. It all goes through him now at this point. So that is very exciting. And Shams went on to say out there in this report essentially that the Raptor spoke to several candidates from the team’s top executive position. But Webster impressed Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO Keith Ple and other MLSC officials ever since the process for Eugur’s replacement started in late June. PY and Webster spent critical time together during the NBA summer league in Las Vegas, allowing MLSC to view Webster’s management style and giving Webster the opportunity to explain the process, his process in the role. So, basically, they uh took some time. They really looked at candidates. It took a very, very long time. And honestly, the longer this process went, the more worried I was about Bobby Webster actually getting this role. and you know Keith Pelle the front office Edward Rogers who you know P is the spokesperson for Eddie but uh basically them end up going in the different direction and just not going with the pick that made the most sense which was Bobby Webster. Of course there were some exciting names out there. Bob Myers would be really cool. You know you have different guys out there in terms of Pritchard from the Indiana Pacers. There were some cool pieces but of course it was unrealistic that they’d actually leave leave their current role. Whether it be broadcasting, whether it be, you know, leading a team that just made the NBA finals and joining this Raptors group. So even, you know, I’m not saying they’d be better than Bobby Webster, but even if those guys were interesting, Bobby Webster was the clear most likely and favorite option. But getting this present, this head of basketball operations role, some people are misconstruing what this actually is. So, uh, essentially Josh Loomberg cleared it up pretty, uh, well, saying that. Interesting thing to note here, per Shams, Webster will run president of basketball operations in the GM role for now. So, allows the organization to continue grooming Bobby and Dan Tolsman with flexibility to pivot if this season goes poorly. So, what does that mean? What is the specifics of this whole situation here now at this point? So, Bobby Webster was brought in uh was given this position because once Messiah Jerry was fired, a lot of people were kind of initially expecting, okay, maybe just run Bobby as GM, see how things go, rather than promoting him to the level that Messiah Jerry was in, right, in the president of basketball operations because of course, Messiah is more established, went through the whole process, all that type of stuff. Bobby Webster is not getting classified as the president of basketball operations with which come with, you know, an elevated role, elevated title and all these types of things. Bobby Webster was the GM. He’s been acting as GM for this entire summer. He’s been acting as GM for, you know, when Messiah Jerry was president. Bobby Webster is still the general manager of this Raptors team. Nothing has changed out there at that point. He’s still extended on between the 2026 2027 season. What has changed and when um you know Messiah was initially fired the board Keith Ple they wanted to bring in a new president of basketball operations essentially a replacement for Messiah Juri to be the overseer of the general manager. That is now not the case. They have not hired a president. Bobby Webster is not the president of basketball operations but they will not be bringing in someone to be go over Bobby Webster’s head. And that’s essentially what’s going on with this entire situation. Bobby Webster is now given full reigns to control basketball operations but is not the present. So he still has something to work towards and you know if they gave him this president role it would probably come with a new contract a longerterm deal and they’d be locked and carved in in that situation. And now what they’ve done with this is even though you know he now has an elevated you know position role and stuff it’s not an elevated title and they have that flexibility. If Bobby Webster does struggle as general manager of the Toronto Raptors, they can pivot and move in a different direction. So, that’s essentially what Shamps has come out and reported. That’s what’s different about what’s going on. The team did not go in the direction of bringing in, you know, a new president. Same way when Shanahan was fired from the Leafs, they uh, you know, let Treving kind of run wild as the GM. They didn’t bring in a new president or do anything like that. That is what they did with the Toronto Raptors. So, I think that’s a perfect move. Of course, I’m very high on Bobby Webster. think he’s going to do a great job. But of course, if he doesn’t, it’s nice to have that flexibility because he was there with Messiah Jerry for a very long time. And Messiah is regarded as one of the top execs in the league, no matter what you think of his last couple seasons. So, I think it’s a right move. I think, you know, as much as we want trash on ownership and, you know, make fun of all this, essentially Edward Rogers, the team did a good job. And what this also clarifies, too, it was less about Messiah Jerry being bad at basketball operations because, of course, Bobby Webster was in the room. He was a key part of this current front office regime in terms of rebuilding the squad, rebuilding the squad. They just did not want to pay Messiah Jury that money. That’s essentially what we can take away from this and it’s what a lot of reporters are saying out there as well. So, uh that’s that’s something to discuss. And Bobby Webster had some quotes as well on the whole situation saying, “I’m grateful to Keith, the board, and our ownership for this opportunity, the chance to continue to work uh that I love for a team, a city, a country that’s become my home. The things that are important to me, a deep love for basketball, thoughtful, empowering leadership, and a competitive fire are all pillars of what who I am as a leader. And that’s what you’ll see from me every single day. This is a new chapter, the rap in Raptors basketball. But one thing that will not change is our passion for winning and our goal to bring another championship to Toronto. So, all the right things this from this press release. So, good stuff there from Bobby Webster. But so you love all that and uh they’re going to continue down the path cuz I don’t think the Raptors, you know, need a huge huge pivot in terms of what they were doing. I think they were rebuilding this team well not don’t want to bring in someone like there were some rumored names that wouldn’t have been that great. Would have been very risky in terms of the direction. But what’s going to happen now? Because the Toronto Raptors, if we look at the, you know, current cap situation, they are over the tax. They have, uh, you know, are over the luxury tax space. And while I do like this roster, I do like the players that are out here on this team. I think we’re going to be more competitive than we have been in seasons past. It is still a little bit uh you know scary in terms of what we have going because you know you have a lot of money tied up in your top five. Scotty Burns, Brandon, Emanuel Quickley, RJ Bar, Yaka Purle, and this team was not that competitive last season. Deled a ton of injuries, dealt with a lot of other factors that you prevented them from being a competitive team. But now you really have to show it. You have to prove it. And Bobby Webster wasn’t given the president of Aspirations. He does have that long-term timeline here now. So, uh, we’ll see how things play out with this roster and given the fact that they are over the tax, they are over that situation, there’s going to be a lot more, you know, now that Bobb’s established, you know, in that position of president of basketball ops, he’s has more free reign to make different trades, to make different moves, to adjust this roster. And RJ Barrett’s the guy that’s been linked in a ton of these trade discussions, a ton of these uh, you know, trade rumors. I am of uh the proponent at least at the start of the season, you know, keep RJ Barrett, see what you have out here in this group and then go from there because I think we have a lot of talent. If we can stay healthy, we’re going to be a very, very competitive team. But we’ll see how things shake out. Let me know what you guys think about all this in the comment section down below. You guys have best thing as far. Subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already. Anyways, I’m signing out.

  1. I guess their cutting cost story was true after all because they’re operating both the Leafs and Raptors without presidents. The only question left to be answered is will these cash saving moves make these teams better or worse ? To be continued…..

  2. With Masai gone this really was the best case scenario for the teams long term future. If we had brought someone in without the right understanding of what Masai built and how to build on that we would have been going in the wrong decision.

  3. I kind of believe this was their whole plan from the start. The power dynamics would have been way off if they brought in someone new to leap frog Bobby, and they just made it sound that was a possibility for leverage in the new contract negotiation.

  4. As long as keep someone who cares about our long time identity. Even American analysts know our identity is defence, now we can continue to build on that

    🍻

  5. "Raptors confirm that Bobby Webster's contract has been extended further and he'll lead the team as GM with the support of MLSE leadership. They won't appoint a team president at this time"

  6. It was the case even before they got rid of Masai Ujiri. They were just waiting for the right moment for us as fans to forget about Masai. I'll never forgive this organization.
