Miami Heat Legacy Season For Bam Adebayo On Deck? | NBA All Star Believes He Can Be Heat’s Giannis
Hey, welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. Hope you’re doing well there. If you guys could subscribe, that’d be great and I appreciate you stopping by. So, Miami Heat in the midst of the offseason. Saw this weekend Bam Adabio uh posted some stuff himself back in the lab uh as we are inching closer to training camp at the end of September and finally can welcome the basketball team back. And um you know, no international ball this year. Bam Ada, of course, coming off of a gold medal run with Team USA, but that is not here this year. This has just been a full off season for BAM. And it is going to be an interesting year. And I think in a lot of ways, we talked about this a few videos back. If you guys want to go check it out, please do. Um, I know a lot of people have been away, but we, you know, I talked a couple of videos back about how interesting it is that in very in in all likelihood is going to end this year as the number two all-time leading scorer for the Miami Heat. that it’s very likely that Bam is going to finish this season at uh passing Glenn Rice and passing Alonzo Morning and will have only one person in front of him. Now, it’s going to be a very tall window to catch number one. Number one is of course Dwayne Wade. Um, but the fact that he’s going to march his way very likely to a year where he is becoming the Miami Heat’s number two all-time leading scoreer because we, you know, for and it was something that kind of caught me by surprise too cuz you know I was like, you know, we know that I know the one that he really wants to get is Udon’s Hlam rebounds like but he’s probably still a couple of years away from that. Um, but I was like looking at I was like, “Oh man, this dude is this this dude is probably gonna he’s gonna pass Glenn Rice. He’s going to probably pass Alonzo Morning. And we’re going to be sitting here at a spot where Bam is the is one of only two players with 10,000 all-time career points with the Miami Heat. It’s pretty wild. He’s 325 away from uh being with Glenn Rice. He’s 536 from Alonzo Morning. Um, and I mean, Bam Adabio has scored 500 at He scored at least that many in uh in every season. Obviously, he had 1400 a career-high 1410 points last year. And yeah, what is he at? I think at um he’s a,077 from being second all time. and he’s done that every year except 21-22 when he had the thumb injury. So basically, if Bamio plays 60 games, he’s going to be the number he’s not only going to be the number two all-time leading scorer, but he’s probably going to get to 10,000 career points. Now, why do I bring this up? I bring this up because I think this is an interesting year for Bam Autobio because I do feel like with all of the Jimmy drama, I do feel like in some ways, I don’t want to say his legacy is tarnished because I don’t think that’s correct, but I do think it’s been a little bit forgotten. And I do think that in some ways this is a legacy season for Bam Autoio because he is the currently the Max player on this team which means that the Miami Heat have invested everything they got into him. Um still one of the best defenders on the planet. One of the best two-way centers on the on the planet but has wanted to move away from that and he’s wanted to become more of a four. He’s want he’s, you know, as he said, been begging Eric Spolstra to play another center to him, a true center that can get him out on the wing. It could probably make him more of a uh a vicious, you know, piranha defender and and maybe take a little bit of strain off him with with banging with the bigs all the time. I don’t know if it’s a torch that’s completely passed because obviously Kel Wear still has some work to do and that’s going to be on some of of Bam’s leadership too. But I think some of the things that also bear with his responsibility is like, no, dude, not only you’re the max player, not only defend the best player, teach these young guys to do what you do. Um, and also give us at least 20 points or you’re a bum. That’s how everyone’s going to treat you. So, I’m interested in this year because I thought last year was a pretty fascinating year for Bam and I think in a lot of ways a frustrating year because, you know, he averaged the fewest points that he had since 2021 and really had a a a rotten start to the season offensively. Had no touch. Couldn’t get any of these chippies and bunnies to go. And it it did feel like a at some point it was mentally wearing on him. Now to his credit, it did feel like he pushed through. And then in the midst of it did something that fans always wanted from him, which was, “Hey, go hit threes. Everybody hits threes these days. You hit threes. You go hit some threes. You become you become one of these guys that we can really trust out there.” And he’s really really worked on it. I mean really really like you could see even in just the windows you get before these games where he’s gone from taking token shots to it being part of his warm-up rep repertoire. Um this has definitely become something where you know you’re talking about a guy who like it wasn’t even something that’s on the scouting report to hey he’s going to take three of these a game. He’s probably going to make at least one of them and maybe better on some nights. So, you better respect it. And it’s going to be interesting to see where he goes from there. Now, I think the thing that we did notice and that took a a dip last year is as the threes went up, the free throws went down. And I do think that there does have to be this is going to be the interesting year for Bam to to marry those two together. like how do you have the long range bomb to still have your physicality and be somebody because it is one of those things the Heat was sorely sorely mistaken with Jimmy Butler and though Tyler Herro has made strides in it he is not like still this ferocious guy at getting to the free throw line and I do think that you know that that the Heat are going to need Bam to give them something from there. So, I say this is a legacy season because I do think that a lot of the the the the great moments and the importance that he had with Jimmy just leaving and Jimmy saying, you know, basically being you guys can’t do this without me and then he and Tyler basically going out and not really proving anything against that. They got waxed in the first round against the Celtics when Jimmy got hurt. Again, the Celtics were a historically great offensive team and they got waxed by a Cleveland Cavaliers team that, yeah, was positioned in a place. Now, they fought through the playin and they’ve maybe, you know, have a better regular season. We’re not fighting through the play at all times, but one of Bamaio or Tyler Herro needs to be that go-to guy in the fourth quarter that the team can rely upon. And, you know, if you look at some of the clutch numbers, Bam has been a more efficient player in those periods than Tyler has. But, obviously, you know, big to to guard, guard’s going to have the ball in his hands in those moments. And so I don’t know if we’re going to go to a place where BAM is getting it at the end of Shock. But it has been fascinating hearing some of the the peers talk about this around the league. Like Jeff Teague recently had some things on his podcast. And I like Jeff Teague’s podcast. Sometimes he says wacky things like thinking that James Harden’s better than Dwayne Wade. But all in all, very entertaining podcast. Probably one of my favorite player podcasts that’s out there. Um because he will he’ll he while he will say ridiculous things, he’ll also say some things that um will leave you to think a little bit. And I think this is interesting because I do feel like Bam, I’ve heard this from a couple of players about him. And it always kind of makes you wonder about what things are like in the Heat hub because I always wonder when you’re drafted by the Miami Heat and you’re the culture guy and you’re the flag bearer of the culture and you’re the captain when you’re in culture, do you allow are you allowed to have your artistic wings spread as much as they should as a basketball player? Um, it’s not that there’s not good things with heat culture. There is. We all love it. We love the shirts. Love the mantra. Love Pat Riley. But I do wonder from time to time, and this happens with with some of the other guys because you, you know, you have a guy who follows the example and has been doing it since he was a teenager so well that you wonder like, hey, if I ever want to branch out, am I like am I going against the family here? And I wonder sometimes with Eric Spolstra having Bam. Like he thinks to himself like, nah, if there’s a problem, Bam can just fix it. Nah, Bam will just be he’ll be my guy. And look, in a lot of ways, Spo has because Spo’s kind of cut from that same cloth. It’s like, if we have a roster deficiency, Spo will figure it out. You know, the the front office makes a oopsy daisy. They’ll be like, Spo will figure it out. So, I think in a lot of ways, you know, I know why that there’s been some butdding of heads in the past of like how I’m used, I didn’t play enough, all this type of stuff. I do think there’s a lot of philosophical similarities in the way those guys are built to and where they come from and what they’ve turned themselves into. But I do wonder like I heard Jeff Teague say, “Hey, Bam can be Miami’s Giannis.” He’s like, “Not Giannis.” Like I’m not trying to say he’s Giannis, but I think that he can do some of those things with from a physical standpoint and be the hub for Miami. And he also says that this this guy’s as good. He should be averaging 24 points a game. There’s no reason he can’t. Um, we’ve heard what Michael Beasley has said about him. Michael Beasley, by the way, back-to-back big three MVP. Shout out to Super Cool Bees. You want to talk about a basketball artiste? That’s Michael Beasley. Michael Beasley has said like this guy is is is a point guard in a center’s body. Like what are we doing? He needs to be, you know, he needs the ball in his hands more to to create. And we’ve all seen these flashes from him, right? We we’ve seen the gamewinners from Bam. We’ve seen the transition buckets. Um and and you’re and I think everybody’s like knocking on we all know that the talent from this guy is immense but is the mentality in him being the no you I’m the guy I’m the star of this team or is it I’m always going to do the right thing for the team and is there a hard marriage with that because you’ve always been like I’m gonna do what’s what my coach wants me to do but also So, you know, I I have these aspirations because all of my peers get the chance. Tatum gets to be a one. Donovan Mitchell gets to be a one. I’ve, you know, had Jimmy here my prime of my career. This is kind of my first chance. And now Tyler gets the torch. Like that’s that’s where we’re going to go. And look, maybe Bam Albio is never going to be a 20. You know, there’s plenty of people who have the skepticism where like he’s a finished product. He is what he is. Stop trying to think that there’s this other layer to him. Move your projections out to Nicola Yovic and hope that he’s going to become baby Joker. Like that’s where you Tobin, you should just be thinking about that. But I don’t know cuz I just hear from too many people who respect this guy as a basketball player. And I wonder in this season where he’s going to become the number two all-time scorer for the Miami Heat. He might hit likely will hit 10,000 points which has only been done other on this organization by one other person who just got a statue outside of the building. Can this be the season where Bam Adobaya’s heat legacy goes to a different place? Because I do think right now it’s not tarnished, but I think it’s forgotten. And I think that it would be nice to give people a little bit of a reminder because the Heat had such a a aed up year last year where, you know, it all just kind of got sent to hell. And that’s fine. I’ve I I understand all that, but nobody wants to hear that anymore either. So, we’re we’re going to we’re going to give everybody okay, we’ll let you do that, but we don’t really want to hear about the big bad Jimmy Butler made a stinkier anymore. And so, now that that’s all behind everybody now that you have this clean slate, what are you going to be? Because you can look at a Bam autobio and I think you could look at somebody who’s even on this roster right now and you could wonder like all right is Bam is he is there going to be something that is like going to be like hey this is the my team moment or is he going to be the center version of Andrew Wiggins which is everybody watches Andrew Wiggins sometimes and you’re like this is the greatest basketball player I’ve ever seen on the planet. He’s a piranha two ways. He helped a team win a championship. He’s a winning player. Nobody doesn’t like having that guy on the team. Everybody respects him. He is by all accounts an A+ dude who also happens to be a physical freak. But nobody would ever say I’m building my franchise around that guy. Nobody’s going to say he’s my one. He might be my three four. And I think this is the year where we know Ban has been the two. And there’s always been a time where like people say if Bam takes the leap and he’s the one and you have Jimmy riding riding coattails then maybe you have something. And it just never really blended the right way. I am I am fascinated to see this year for him because I feel like it’s kind of gone unspoken because everybody I think has almost resigned themselves to the fact of hey he’s going to at least give you 18 and 910. He’s going to defend better than anybody on this on this planet when it comes to basketball. He’s going to set his teammates up. No one is going to make life easier for him because nobody nobody makes life easier for that guy. That’s one thing you can say about Bon Deio. Rare are the times he’s had teammates who have made his life easier. He makes everybody else’s life easier. Remember when Pat Riley said he should give X, Y, and Z? They should give Ban half their check. So, I’m curious to see is there something else this year, which I think there can be, or is this going to be a guy where it’s like he’s always going to do the right stuff? He’s always going to be and you know, people have mentioned like how much he wants to We talk about heat legacy. Does does he is he gonna want to stick all this out, too? Does he think at a certain point? You saw that Luca flirtation, which in hindsight now I do not like because Luca has now signed his extension with the Lakers. And I don’t like that his, you know, adorable Slovenian ass was out here flirting with Bam all over the place being like, “Hey, Baratt, come to LA.” Because we know that Luca’s been chirping all about being a recruit and Bam sitting here being like, “I recruited Dame and I recruited Spa and I recruited XYZ and you guys got none of them. You did. All my work went to waste.” So, is there also on the flip side of it, does Bam ever get to the point where he says, “I think I’ve grown as much as I can grow in Miami, and I’d like to have the chance to do it somewhere else.” So, I think that is really one of the fascinating things about this season. It is really to me a true legacy season for Bam Adobay’s Miami Heat career in a fork in the road. Where are we going to go with this? you know, that is and and I’m excited for it because I do think it’s been a little bit forgotten because I do think most people have resigned. In fact, we know what BAM’s going to do and I think that’s what everybody is at and and I get that. I’m not saying that’s not fair, especially the way the last two years have ended. But there h there were things that changed last year with him as a basketball player. If he can blend those things and marry those things and we go into this year with a different mentality with no baggage of the year, can there be more meat on that bone? That is going to be the fascinating thing to see and we will see what is going to be the story of Bam Abio’s heat legacy.
Tobin reacts to some of the calls for Bam Adebayo to take a jump this season. Is that possible or is he at his peak? He will very likely become the Heat’s 2nd All-Time leading scorer this year and possibly eclipse 10,000 points. Does he also have to think if he can win in Miami long term?

Need heat basketball to come back
I can appreciate the sentiment, but no one in the fanbase believes that or frankly even wants to hear it from the guy who just finished scoring under 20 pts per game in his 8th season
bambi heat's giannis? this is too funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
