A bit of a news for us in the Pel Nation is the Pelicans made a signing. Pelicans have signed Jaylen McDaniels to a one-year nine guaranteed contract according to Sham Sharenia of ESPN. So the Pelicans been looking for another forward and they add one, you know, about a month or so before the NBA season. 27year-old forward who saw limited action in four games last season. He signed a 10-day contract with the Wizards in February. He spent most of his time with the Washington GLeague affiliate, the Capital City Go, where he averaged over 13 points, seven rebounds, and 38 total games. Now, he played his first three and a half seasons in Charlotte after being selected with the 57th pick in the 2019 draft, but he bounced around the league since then. He spent time with Philly, uh, where he went in a four team deal back in 2023’s trade deadline, signed with Toronto that summer. He was traded twice last year being shipped to Sacramento in June and then San Antonio in October. The Spurs waved him a day later and then he ended up going to the G-League affiliate and join Washington there. So in total, McDaniels has appeared in 252 NBA games and averaged a total of seven points, three rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 18 minutes of action. So that’s what we got going on uh to it. And it uh also is reported that it’s a one-year nine guar guaranteed contract that he’s signing with the Pelicans. So Pelicans still trying to add talent with Jaden McDaniels. Also kind of give you guys a bit of a scouting report. All right. Jaylen McDaniels 694 known for his positional versatility, defensive upside. The NBA has shown flashes of scoring ability as a pick and roll baller. uh 101 creator with respectable outside shot has been cons uh his consistency has been a concern uh as well. So he does he’s he’s a 69 guy with a seven foot wingsprint. Guy good length but defensive potential. He’s a plus perimeter defender with quickness, active hands and ability to disrupt in the passing lane. His steels are up there almost a steal and a half per game in 36 minutes. He can score in a variety of ways including off the dribble catch and shoot and finish around the rim though consistency is a problem. So McDaniel is a capable passer especially with the left hand and can make some plays. Now his weaknesses is his scoring and over overall performance has been inconsistent throughout his career. While he shoot from deep his three-point percentage is not reliable. But his defense he can be susceptible to screens losing his man off ball which can be a problem at the level. So they’re saying particularly he has a lot of potential particularly on defense as a vers and as a potential versatile score. However, he needs to improve his consistency and potentially speed up his release on the jump shot to reach his full potential. He recently signed with the Pelicans. There you go. So, this is like a little scouting report on Jaylen McDaniels. Also, he is the brother of Jaden McDaniels, the fantastic uh forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves. So, they have Jaden, we have Jayen. So, we’ll see what coach uh Willie and uh coach Dumos who continue to throw talent at the Pelicans in an attempt to kind of change what’s been happening. All right. So, with that being said, y’all hit the like button, let the subscribe button uh and let me know in the comment section what y’all guys think about the Pels signing jail McDaniels to a one-year non guar guaranteed contract. Uh y’all let us know how y’all feel about the situation. is a good move by the Pelicans to kind of, you know, bring him in here. He has some upside, man.
