Why I’m Leaving Radio To Work for the Wizards & Mystics

After years behind the mic, I’m starting a brand new chapter. I’m leaving radio to join the Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics as the new Senior Director of Basketball Identity & Integration at Monumental Basketball.

In this clip from The Hoffman Show, I share why I made the decision, what the role means, and how it all came together.

  1. Congrats Craig. You have been the best local radio host for the Wizards fanbase and its not even close. Im excited for you and trust you will play a part in making these two franchises to championship status!

  2. Congrats Craig. I tended to give you a hard time but always thought you were a hard worker bringing the best contént in the DC Metro area for the Commanders. As a DC native I am excited about the path of the Wizards and Mystics. I am sure you will kill it.

  3. Craig! Congrats, man! I’m not sure who I’m going to listen to every day now… you’ve easily been my favorite Commanders host, and it’s going to feel strange going through the season without your content. That aside, best of luck! I know you’ll crush it.

  4. Congrats Craig! Im sure you are going to absolutely kill it. Can't say Im not sad. Your content was def a highlight of my day. Appreciated all your hard work and wish you nothing but the best.

  5. Aw, Craig: I consider you part of the karma, the Good Joojoo that turned the Commanders around. Now I will worry that goodness will be affected. 😅 I will let you know that I have thought about you outside of this show and what I was thinking is you are a good human. It was easy to support you. And certainly you are a consummate professional. Good luck with Monumental. Years ago I got teary-eyed when a guy named Buckhantz left for the Wiz; he did pretty well there. All I ask is you help the Wiz give us fans something to truly cheer and care about. Good luck!

  6. Serious question for all the diehard Craig fans, who are you going to listen to now for DC sports commentary? Genuinely looking for recommendations.

    All the best Craig!

  7. The NBA/Wizards are my least interesting sports among the 4 main sports in DC and nationally for that matter. With that said I do hope the Wizards/Bullets can return to the days of the 1970's.

  8. I'm all about career growth. It's 2025, and having blind allegiance to one company no matter what you do is just idiotic. If you have an opportunity or a chance to grow your career, you should always be open to it. The days of just sitting in one job in one position for 30+ years with no actual growth or raises are a dead idea in America, as well it should be. No person should provide blind loyalty to a company that would fire you in a heartbeat if it knew it would make them more money. You are nothing more than a number to a company. Never forget that. This whole "we're family" shit is just that a PR mind fuck to gaslight you into staying in a job. That being said, I also would never leave a position for growth if I knew the new position wasn't guaranteed in some way. Giving up what I assume is a decently paying job to work in a sports front office in a random "Newly created", aka made-up job, seems ludicrous. #1 It's a random job someone made up, meaning it's a random job they can easily end whenever they feel like it on a random Tuesday. #2 It's in a sports front office for a team that is notoriously bad. AKA, like the Redskins used to be a team that cleans house every 4 to 5 years, if that. Again, all for career growth but not for career gambling, especially when you are married or have kids. People depend on you. To take a job that, in all seriousness, won't exist in 2 to 3 years just seems like a dead end to me. Unless they are doubling or even paying you more than double your current salary, it's not worth the gamble. Ask Julie Donaldson how her random title of "Senior Vice President of Media and Content" is working out for her 5 years later, after Washington cleaned house. Even if the position lasts, the job won't when they are cleaning house every 3 to 5 years. Not worth the gamble.

  9. Best of luck, Craig. I enjoyed watching your intelligent Commanders analysis. I'll miss your Summer Series chats with Louie Tee.
