@basketball rewind dragging this on, to just hire bobby, really only made bobbys job harder in trying to get under the luxury tax.
very few trades happen at this time of year as most gm's go on vacation. and after training camp the rosters set till after mid december.
why would cousin eddie drag this on instead of just hiring bobby a week after.
Beyond keeping it real. It was the plan all along to keep Bobby. I don't see how the VP can say it wasn't me when he supported the President. He can not take credit for all the good things and the bad things were Masai's. It was all about being cheap. Why keep Masai for the draft?
It wasn't me is not leadership. Pointing fingers is not leadership.
Bobby said give me a chance to clean up the mess and rollout my plan.. Ed Rogers said okay show me what you got..Pay you some extra dollars to do the job but not assigned the title..I hope Bobby has a plan for his next job.
@basketballrewind bobby signing tells you it was just about money and they didnt like dealing with masai. i am sure they looked at the circumstances also of the covid 2 years. it shows they didnt mind the direction masai and bobby took last 2 years, and the ingram trade. as it was likely rogers who didnt have the patience for a 4 year rebuild that forced the ingram trade and the win now moves that didnt materialize.
you hear about the other execs saying the raptors are the 8th most expensive team and they didnt even make the play in. as well reports execs saying ingram trade was a desperation move.
so when they interviewed the candidates they probably brought that up, which didnt go over well with mlse ownership as they were the ones likely that pressured masai into the ingram trade abandoning the rebuild.
so bobby was there for the entire thing, told them he will fix the luxury cap issue and they will make the play in tournament, and mlse and cousin eddie were happy with that response over the flak they likely got from the candidates they interviewed as what they saw was in reality a mess.
i dont think bobby is on the hot seat as he likely got a 3-4 year extension. but if they dont do well this year, darko is probably the scape goat. and they probably promote jama to the head coach to keep the development going. as he was here when the young guys developed for the championship.
in the rules of power, there is a saying dont outshine the master. well masai became bigger than the raptors and cousin eddie, so in the eyes of cousin eddie, he had to go.
