The only real question I have about the Hawks is health. It’s not just Porzingis, though he’s the most obvious. Jalen has missed big chunks of time, Okongwu also, despite being healthy last season, he’s had two seasons with at least 25 missed games in between his two nearly fully healthy seasons, not counting his rookie campaign. Trae’s been mostly healthy (‘23-‘24 notwithstanding), but small guards can get injured at any time. Dyson was healthy last year but missed 20+ in his first two seasons. And all of Guye, Krejci, Bufkin, and Kennard have had real injury problems among the second unit.
So, with health? Absolutely can make serious noise. But there could be serious injury problems beyond Tingus Pingus.

I definitely think the hawks can compete this year. If the pacers could do it so can they. Trae young can do EVERYTHING Tyrese can. And I personally feel like he’s a better offensive player and there’s a big gap. I think the pacers doing what they did is proving to these mid teams and small markets that they can compete with a good system and a well constructed roster.
