Not going to happen. W's management wants LeBron, but not the players who still have bad feelings from the up 3-1 Finals lost assisted by refs. Would the Dodgers want Alex Cora or any of the sign stealing Astros? Anything can happen so if Jimmy Butler doesn't work out in GS, then W's management will try again for LBJ to get out of the JB contract. The Lakers need to grab as many near future Warriors FR picks in such trade because the W's are near their sunset and the picks are highly valuable. They're just play-in quality so their mgmt is still looking to upgrade.
The Warriors-Lakers trade that would make the most mutually upgrading, marketing, and most sense but no one dares to talk about it: Steph Curry for LeBron trade. The Warrior fans would go nuts like the Mavs fans over Luka, and the Lakers fans would be like what's new. Curry alongside Luka in LA and LeBron with Butler in GS would be a huge draw outside of the small markets of OKC and Indiana. The NBA probably needs it with small market top two finish last season. LBJ with Butler would be like an old school LeBron team. The Warriors go a new direction with an easy soft landing of getting rid of big contracts if the new direction fails while the Lakers put up their version of splash brothers. Warriors trade for LeBron talks will continue this season as they barely scratch out of the play-in or unable to defeat OKC.
Something more realistic: the Lakers need to rid players from the "Just stay greedy" era. They should trade Rui and AR for RJ Barret.
