And all those so called” analysts “ who bashed him relentlessly before, will be forced to get in line . So to the people who haven’t watched Luka his entire NBA career or Euro career Luka was a extremely good off ball player at Real Madrid and his rookie season he was used as an off ball player as well up until the Mavs traded for Kristaps Porzingis which sent away Dennis Smith Jr the Mavs year prior lottery pick Luka was playing the 2/3 and after that trade the Mavs heavily leaned on give the ball to Luka and let him go to work. His 2nd & half of his 3rd year he was even more ball dominant due to the rosters not having guards who could initiate the offense until they added Seth Curry, Trey Burke etc guys who could run the offense and allow Luka to play off ball and come off screens cut etc etc. The issue has always been the roster and Jason Kidd once he got to the Mavs forced Luka to have the ball 24/7 because Kidd couldn’t draw up plays or had the proper pieces to run an offense that’s less dependent on Luka. Also when Kidd did finally get the pieces in 2022 the issue was yea having Luka off ball worked but when it came down to absolutely needing a bucket Kidd would always default to give the ball to Luka and let him get us a great shot. Last year the problem was Kidd wasn’t allowing Luka to ever find a rhythm in games Kidd would mess with Luka’s minutes every game and when he was in rhythm and hot Kidd would pull him for no reason he wasn’t getting the same looks every game. For example one game Luka would be used as a SG and Kyrie as the PG then the next game Luka was used as the PG and Kyrie as the SG and even in games Luka would be used as a SG being that pure scorer and Kyrie as the PG and in the 2nd half of games Luka would be relegated to a catch and shoot in the corner guy like a SF and Luka could just never get in a rhythm because he never knew what his role was. I know I’m rambling but this is how I knew by game 10 Luka was going to be traded last year I just didn’t know when or to which team but you could see the team wanted to go so far away from Luka and it costed them games in clutch time as well. If JJ wants to run a system Luka will buy in but JJ has to stick to his guns and consistently do it not just go away from it and basically say “Luka we can’t score or create a good/great shot right now we need you to play Luka ball to get us going”. I wouldn’t want to be Luka’s coach that’s for sure because you can’t deny if you just give Luka the ball he’s always going to get his team and himself a great shot and a high percentage one.
They should go all out. Their efforts will pay off in the long run.
I guess the trip is a good idea, but it seems like a political junket. It certainly wouldn't have happened under the mom/pop ownership. 😎
