Jaime Jaquez Jr. had a disappointing 2024-25 season following his rookie year that landed him on the NBA All-Rookie first-team. The former 18th overall pick out of UCLA in the 2023 NBA Draft will need a big third season.
Heat president Pat Riley acquired Norman Powell in a three-team trade during the NBA Offseason. Powell was almost an All-Star for the Clippers last season as he averaged a career-high 21 points per game.

Bleacher Report on Jaime Jaquez Jr.:
“Progress isn’t always linear, but it was still jarring to see Jaquez fall off quite as steeply as he did in his second season. After finishing fourth in Rookie of the Year and ninth in Sixth Man voting, the rugged forward lost minutes, shots and efficiency as a sophomore. This is not Jaquez, just 24, being on some irreversible downward slide. He still plays with force, still generally makes good decisions with the ball and does enough of the little things to deserve a shot at redemption. If he can get the ball to go in a little more consistently (46.1/31.1/75.4 shooting split last year), he’ll retake his spot in the rotation and perhaps even warrant more than the 17 starts he got in 2024-25.”

Bleacher Report on Norman Powell:
“Career years at age 31 are rare, but it’s even less common for a player to sustain such a late-blooming breakout. Powell put up a personal-best 21.8 points on a 61.5 true shooting percentage for the Clippers last season, starting a career-high 60 games and even earning some All-Star consideration. He might still be a solid offensive starter for the Heat, but he’s not going to duplicate last season’s efforts.”

Spo will hold down the development of both just like he did Jovic
I think Powell will have more open looks due to Herro’s slashing to the hoop. And if Powell drives in he doesn’t need to finish having Bam or Ware who can dunk it with a pass.
The biggest riser is going to be Pelle Larsson. The biggest faller might be Andrew Wiggins (offensively at least)
We’re going to be the first NBA TEAM TO HAVE 4 people averaging 20 ppg watch this
Hope Jaime Jacquez will be able to improve his game particularly on the offensive side. He makes good decisions, doesn’t force shots, and plays with a lot of intensity. 😊
Nic I think Jaime will prove you wrong. I think Jaime is the reason why the Heat felt they can do without Highsmith. Jovic, Jaime, and Pele will be studs off the bench for us this year.
In the regurlar season we usually go 10 deep. Powell, Herro, Wiggins, Bam, Ware are our starters. Mitchell, Jovic, Pelle and Jaime makes 9.
If JJJ just improve his rebounding by 5 or 6 and his assists go up. Plays better D I'll be happy
Y because he’s entering his 3rd year and his game should already be developed
I'm rooting for Jaquez 🇲🇽💪🏽
