To be fair Leif we aren't finding out next how soon they'll be contenders, we get your opinion next.
Petterson is absolutely the better player, he's not as athletic but he's better everywhere else. Only if AJ hits his ceiling will he be better

4 years of rebuild! What's a shit show
I think the Jazz will be better than everybody thinks. A lot of young guys trying to earn that second contract and it sounds like the team will let Lauri play. If Flip shoots near 40% from the 3, alongside Lauri, and if Kessler steps up for that 30M contract he likely wants, we could easily be better than people think.
I would point a few things out:
That '07 team got some luck, but not enough. Had the Spurs not mauled Nash, which ended up costing 3 or 4 starters a suspension, Phoenix may have ended up in the WCF. The Jazz may have been able to knock them off, then crush Cleveland for a title. Phoenix was really good, so maybe the Jazz don't get by them. (Also, the Jazz lost to the Spurs 4-1 that year)
Hayward/Gobert only made 1 playoff, but ended the Lob City Clippers. And no one was beating that Warriors team (first year with KD on it).
Don/Rudy got some bad luck in that '21 season. Don with a nasty ankle sprain that hobbled him for the playoffs. Mike pulling his hammy on a 1st quarter buzzer beating attempt. I think the Jazz beat the Clippers with either of those 2 healthy. Suns/Jazz WCF would've been fun and matching up with Giannis may have gotten a title for the Jazz…

I agree- I think that AJ is more of a “fan-favorite”, since he played HS in Utah, is playing college ball in Utah, and could potentially play pro in Utah, but from what I see and have heard indicates, Peterson might be the better prospect.
If the Jazz miraculously luck into the number 1 overall pick, it will absolutely divide the fans to have to potentially choose between AJ (fan-favorite) Peterson (potentially the most valuable), and Carlos Boozer’s son (dad is Jazz legend and part of staff). If they do take Peterson over AJ, I think that there will be a lot of upset fans; especially if AJ turns out to be better.
But, if we have the luxury of getting one of those 3 guys- as things stand now- before evaluating their college profile, I think that we’d be quite fortunate.
They ruined this team and made other Teams better in the west. I'm getting the numbers one pick lol unbelievable, you so-called experts want the team to Tank again lol
Hard to imagine that between Bryce, Kyle, Keyonte, Taylor, Isiah, Walt, and Cody that we don't have a legit starter and 1 or 2 good bench guys. Add in Ace and I see a big jump next year.
People saying Peterson is going to be better than AJ are the same as those saying Scoot was going to be better than Wemby.
Jazz did get one game against the Spurs in '07…Darren made Jacque Vaughn touch earth that game.
Will we break through the NBA conspiracy against the Jazz next year? We are building the right foundation. Great coach, Lauri, Kessler, and a large youth movement. Then Bailey and hopefully one other solid draft next summer. Hopefully this time next year we’ll be super optimistic as Jazz fans going into the following season. I think the one other piece is using our assets to bring in a really good player. Then we’ll have a shot in about the timeframe you outlined. Let’s GOOO Jazz!
I used to think a Jazz rebuild would be the worst possible option. This is the first real rebuild in my lifetime and I gotta say i’m very excited about it
