Why Steph Curry is #6 on my NBA player rankings for 2025 NBA season | Golden State Warriors
Jason dives into Stephen Curry’s greatness, how his age factors into his NBA ranking, his chemistry with Golden State Warriors co-stars Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, how Steph compares to a younger star like Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and why his impact goes beyond the box score.

We about to see a full season with Steph and Jimmy….. last y3ar they were overall the top3 best offense and defense, best ft shooting team like yall just dont want the Warriors to be good b3cause they dominated for a decade so yall are over it. But steph h3althy with ANY legit healthy help and he gets a ring. Always has
Curry will literally get MVP and his 5th ring next season. Screen shot it.
Steph glaze on a holiday? 🔥🤗🔥
Steph anywhere below #1 is blasphemous. He’s miles better than Shai and Jokic
Ahh shit here comes the LeGlazers
Bro was on 11th seed without jimmy😭😭
As a Bay Area Dubs fan, I cannot thank the great Wardell Stephen Curry II enough for all that he's done! IMO: On the court, he's right there with Michael, Kobe, LeBron, Magic and Larry as one of the most impactful perimeter players of all time, not just being by far the greatest shooter of all-time! And off the court, he's one of the kindest humans the public has ever had, right there with Keanu Reeves! Even if the team is not in championship contention for the rest of his career, I will gladly sit down and watch him go out there and work with his team to try and get their jobs done. And one day (hopefully not for another 3/4 years) when it's time for him to step away from the game of basketball, we must all commemorate the joy he brought to us all. Personally I wanna thank him for the show he put on during the olympics last year for it took place in the wake of my family losing my father unexpectedly in July at the much too tender age of 56. As Scott Van Pelt once said, "there is nothing better, than sport!" And for me, in the game of basketball, there is nothing better than watching Wardell II compete! =)
the situation with steph since the championship feels parallel to what happened with Brady in his last years with the patriots- they gave him no weapons then spent the season criticizing him for not being able to get over the hump.
Hey Jason! Love your content, long time fan. just to clear up the “steph received 0 finals MVP votes in 2015”. The first round of voting went:
Lebron – 4
Andre – 4
Steph – 3
since you can’t have 2 finals MVPs, the warriors voters decided to break the tie by all voting for Iggy. that’s why the final tally has 0 for steph.
Nick Wright explains it here:

More than a fair rating, especially accounting for age and wear and tear.
Andre should have immediately walked over and given the trophy to Steph. Lost some respect there.
Steph is a very good defender for his size. I have always used this as a litmus test for someone's basketball knowledge – anyone who says he is a bad defender probably isn't worth listening to about Hoops.
post all star break/jimmy trade is absolutely key context when looking at his last year. He was horrible on defense the first few months (i’m a warriors fan), but once jimmy came he turned it up on literally every single front. i mean you just have to watch jimmy butlers first game w the team against chicago to see the fire in steph’s eyes physically get lit up.
Game 3 of the Rockets series is the most impressive game I've seen a star player play (as a relatively new NBA fan). He was getting trapped basically as much as the Rockets could possibly trap him and he playmade perfectly, got his team open looks all game, still almost had 30 and won without Jimmy.
I have Curry slightly lower on my own list–still a top 10 player but not 6th. Mostly because he's dropped off some largely due to age. I factored that in more than Jason did. But I'm not mad at peope ranking him this high. It's very hard to rank guys like Curry and LeBron because in all of our mind's eyes we still tend to see them the way they were in their prime. So we give them legacy consideration in a way a player like SGA doesn't get. Jokic and Giannis are right on the cusp of getting that legacy extra credit though not quite there yet. All truly great players eventually reach that tipping point at a certain stage of their career.
21:12 : "Meet the Gravity Man" lmaooooooo. that graphic was funny alongside the KD one "Meet the Efficiency Man"
2 spots ahead of my glorious king is befuddling didn't think I'd see the day
How is Steph better than Brunson at this stage in both of their careers
MAILBAG: Hope ur doing good Jason. My favorite hoop analyst. Just wondering do you think you're kids are going into hoops. do you plan to coach and train them to be "advantage creators" lol considering u are very well versed with basketball from a physiological improvement etc and from a coaching all that good stuff and yea have a good day brodie
Mailbag: I’ve heard you say the ideal roster construction features a skill guard with the kinds of defensive limitations you said Steph has. Im not sold on that take and I’m curious what you think abt the following construction:
– big two way lead creator at the wing or big position
– big 3nD guards with SOME connective playmaking juice
– versatile defensive big that can space from 3 and/OR vertical as a rim runner
What I like any this construction is your star player doesn’t necessarily have the defensive limitations that come with traditional skill guards.
This means you dont have to spend resources on elite skillsets that cover for your best player’s deficiencies. Those players also have gaping holes in their game unless they too are a max guys.
Instead your two-way star can back up relatively cheap, high-floor role players whose versatility give the team match up resilience even if they aren’t elite in a specific area
Thoughts?
We should cherish and enjoy Steph while we can. He is truly special!
By sheer ability Steph CHANGED the game… basketball changed, everybody needed to adapt because of him, or at least try to for that matter.
Holy glaze he was horrible for 75% of the season but sure he’s number 6
His stat isn’t good but when i watched full game last year … he still so good even before jimmy. Well basketball is team game, if yr team mate isn’t same level or cooperate, then u have to carry the team, and if you carry team alone for long time, u get tired to do that, like no help no motivate
I’m going to miss Steph when he’s gone that’s for sure. Favorite player in any sport ever
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
So let me get this straight: your trues are 36-year-old curry over a younger more athletic guy in Anthony Edwards? So because Carrie runs around a bunch of illegal screens all game That's what's making you more enticing to want to choose Curry? Let's say Steph Curry is not shooting threes all game, what else is he providing on the basketball court that is going to impact winning at a very high level? And please don't say the attention he gains just from being on the court, because last I saw he hasn't elevated his team to winning at a high level unless he has another bona fide scoring next to him to take the load off of him. It's like this bias you have for Curry is just so sickening to watch it times and your fan just eat it up every single time. It's like NOBODY can criticize Curry WHATSOEVER so this is just for ratings and viewership
Higher than Bron this crazy family.. No way
Steph at 6th is insane. Smh
Let's not act like jimmy Butler was not coming back from the tailbone injury
Na Steph top 4
Mailbag: What is preventing statisticians from tracking advantage creation?
I have no idea how there's five players above him, probably would give just to Jokic and SGA and i'd pick Steph over SGA, but i understand the common sense to have him below them
L ranking. He not better than Bron
Mailbag: i am curious why is it that nobody is copying Steph’s off ball movement. It seems that it is an easy skill to adopt and very useful but i dont see players doing it as much. Can you give us some examples of players being good at it, other than Steph.
Thanks Jason am a fan from Saudi Arabia and appreciate your work.
Nuggets fan and Lakers LeBron is not as scary as Steph or Luka. Steph can and does steal a lot of games. Luka to a lesser extent. LeBron maybe steals games from other teams, but not so much from Denver.
Thank you jason, tell em why… lol
Ant ahead of Steph?!?? You’ve lost your mind! You LeBron lovers just hate Steph- I don’t know what else to attribute this whack rating at – un-subscribe!! Block!
Q: Why is Steph Curry #6 on my list? A: Because you're biased, Jason. 🤷♀️
Dude you’re so good a this, you should be on tv… you see the things casual fans miss and explain it to perfection… also about Steph people need to recognize that no player in the NBA has seen the defense Steph deals with every single game and on top of everything gets no respect from the refs… thats a fact.
#5!! Wtf hell no
Completely wrong there is no way curry who pre butler didnt even have his team in the playin is 6 he never reached the level of Lebron which Lebron needed to when AD was out curry never did that he just would of sailed right out of the playoffs this is with there hot 13 and 2 start.. So this take is just wrong..
As long as Steph doesn’t have any baby mama or real mama drama he’ll be good…
You are 100% correct. Everyone is obsessed with statistics. The stuff that a good offensive player OR DEFENSIVE player can do that doesn't show up on the stat sheet is always overlooked.
