Good morning
Inflation is easy to see in nba contracts
As the 25-26 unfolds, the salary figures will gradually clarify themselves… Rick Carlisle and the Pacers coaching staff can be depended on to manage the situation for a good number of wins.
It will be an interesting year. I think Cam Jones’ skill set is a wild card…
Pretty sure Double A's agent said they and the Pacers are already negotiating and were close on the numbers.
Adam Silver picks where he wants generational talent to go anyways. Considering we've never had a 1-5 pick. We might as well keep playing to win. We were in the Finals last year. First time in a long time that we've had this much good young talent. Having the 6th and 7th picks of previous drafts.
The Celtics are obviously trying to tank. They will likely be the 13th ranked team in the East this year. Adam will probably say here, have AJ Dybansta. But we don't reward tanking.
Barring a trade, someone has to move on next summer to make a roster spot and tax room for our FRP. The likely choice would be Bradley or Wiseman.
I'd like to find a way to bring in Nick Richards or Nikola Vucevic. They will be a UFA's. Should be cheap, maybe a younger backup stretch C/PF type. If our current C's aren't what we need. But either way a Nick Richards, or Vucevic for cheap on a flexible role. Would be idea for our team. The 3 C's we have need to prove they belong here and who should start this season. If we have 2/3 that stick, would be the best case scenario. It's highly unlikely we keep them all. Pacers should be looking at these C's and thinking. We need 3pt shooting, transition speed, defense, rebounding and hustle/intangibles. Do we have one, or two of the player's who bring us the most of those skills. Then ask can we improve on that position in FA. What are we lacking the most of those thing's and who will best fill that void. Sign that player and have all our C's compete again for their spots on the team. If we don't have enough depth at the C position. We can only hope that Obi Toppin can keep improving as a PF/C defensively. Right now he checks the most of those boxes overall. In my mind I can see Jackson and Huff playing some good minutes for us. I'm hoping Wiseman can outplay one of them for the most part. Because we desperately need a C with some size. Who can give us solid D and rebounding. This season should help Wiseman. Since we will probably play a bit slower. Not sure if he can play the transition speed we are used to. I'd like to have a C with size for certain matchups. Maybe then you bring in guy's around him who like to play at a different speed. If we need to go to that at some point. If he struggles, or Huff/Jackson. We should look to make a move. If a good deal presents itself at the deadline. Make a deal then, work on solidifying that backup role asap. Keep the best out of the 3 C's. Then upgrade with a C in FA. Day'Ron Sharpe and Jalen Smith are on good contracts. Js. If Time Lord can stay healthy, maybe him.. But that's a big IF.
