Inviting Ant to the Dark-Side of the Force with foul grifting is not what I was hoping to hear. If Ant starts putting his energy to foul grifting like Luka, Embiid, SGA, and Brunson then we've become totally lost.

NBA mailbag: You said Shai doesn’t have best in the world potential even after having a season comparable to prime Micheal Jordan in terms of output and efficiency, I’m genuinely curious if at this point it’s more about the aesthetics of his game and that he doesn’t do hard and flashy dunks like Ant edwards or is there another reason? I also get get the being transcendent at multiple things but I feel this is skewed towards playmakers as being transcendent at defensive I feel is inherently more difficult as it is much harder to sustain playing at the level on both sides of the floor while playmaking and scoring requires energy on one side, and I don’t think ant really can ever reach that level on defense especially given the stamina requirements which I don’t believe support his style of play in offense, is there a way that someone could be best in the world on scoring alone?Love the show!

SGA is arguably the best player in the world already… he just had one of the best seasons ever and beat Jokic head to head with a way younger roster. His defense is better than Ants
17:25 Ant has said so himself that he doesn’t know how to flop but I hope he never tries to do it like SGA. Cry all you want about me calling sga a flopper but it’s true that at the least he oversells legit calls and creates fouls out of nowhere. Ant almost always plays through contact and doesn’t dive into people and dive into the ground to create a foul. And obviously it hasn’t equated to the success and winning that sga has had but I would lose respect if he started doing all that just to try and win

The reason Ant altered his shot profile and dropped the midrange and post shots was because he lost Towns and replaced him with Randle, who works much more at the elbows, thereby crowing his interior looks. With Gobert and Randle on the floor Ant is gonna keep on shooting threes and occasionally get to the hole.
P.S. – It's a known thing in OKC that Shai's attention on defense is bad. He gives up two or three straight baskets a game because he just zones out and forgets his guy. He did it a bunch of times in the playoffs too. He gets steals because he has quick hands and when the action is right in front of him he's fine. But ask him to box out, to watch the back cut, to be aware – and he's quite bad. Again this is known in OKC, the announcers even mention it exasparatingly.

I wouldn’t pick 5 players over ant
And should be taking 6 to 7 threes max. He should not be taking as many threes as a Steph Curry. He can do so much more. It’s a waste of his ability. His over field goal will increase if he attacks the rim and works in his mid range. His playmaking is coming along nicely. He needs to work on his defensive IQ as well. He has the ability and is already a solid 1v1 defender but his awareness is bad. He needs to see the ball see his man at all times, and make the appropriate rotations.
If ant was on OKC, the gap between him and SGA would be much less.
