I’m from Atlanta. When this trade happened the whole city was ready to storm the hawks organization and tear something up! They disrespected an all time great and traded him for trash! Nique came off an achilles tear playing better than ever, they didn’t want to pay him.

I remember going to work the next morning and on the radio there was a tape delayed interview on V-103 of Mookie Blaylock talking about the fans and their cheering for the Clippers. He said it made the Hawks feel like it was an away game for them!
It was either disc jock Mike Roberts or someone else who then said, Blaylock needs to understand something,
"Dominique Wilkins built this city❗️HE IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE ATLANTA'S OWN👊❗️"
They weren't cheering for the Clippers, they were cheering for him❗️
For us, Nique was to Atlanta, what Magic was to L.A.! What MJ was to Chicago! What Bird was to Boston!
To this very day I've NEVER went back to see the Hawks play, and never will again because of them trading Nique for soft weak azz Danny Manning who left the following year.

I was so mad when Atlanta traded Dominique away I didn’t like them as much anymore. I only started watching them play again because I got stationed at Fort Benning, Ga (I’m from PA) and it was an hour and a half away so I could go to games. Then they traded Steve Smith away and I was done with them. Followed him to Portland and been a fan of the Blazers ever since
