Not a single public dollar should go to a team stadium until they televise local games for free.
The pushback is from a newly elected Socialist mayor- the City Council is generally on board.
Saved you a click. If you want actual info about new arena plan look up SA local news.
What do you mean alot of pushback (caller)? There is some. The new mayor wants to be cautious because there was a conflict of interest in the analysis of the Marvel Project… it wasnt a clean analysis… so thats where the static comes from. Let's make one thing clear, San Antonio IS the Spurs and vice versa, and that's that. It will be built, or more people will be more unhappy than happy… the team has got an incredible future at this current moment. I love the idea of free broadcasts locally btw… but I doubt that will happen… but should be argued for!.
As a San Antonio native, i 100% support this new arena. The taxes will be raised by a hotel and tourism tax that the locals will NOT pay. The spurs are paying for the rest. There's a lot of fear mongering going on but the fact of the matter is this thing will pass.
98% of people in San Antonio want this. What a fake narrative.
San Antonio would burn the entire city to the ground for Los Spurs. San Antonio would bulldoze the Alamo itself to expand the Spurs parking lot
The SBC center or whatever it is now is only two decades old? Crazy.
