Kawhi Leonard’s Legacy on the Line: Culprit or Victim of the Clippers’ Scandal? | THE ODD COUPLE

THE ODD COUPLE: Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington go toe-to-toe over the explosive Pablo Torre report that alleges the Los Angeles Clippers funneled $28 million to Kawhi Leonard through a third-party deal — possibly to skirt the NBA salary cap. Kelvin argues the “silent assassin” may have quietly been getting massive side benefits and that this looks like getting away with murder. Rob pushes back hard: he says the responsibility lies with the Clippers/ownership, not Kawhi himself.

  1. Yes, a company can sign an endorsement deal with an athlete or entertainer and then choose not to use them in marketing, but this would typically be due to a breach of the contract or a specific clause allowing for termination or suspension, rather than simply deciding not to fulfill the promotional aspect of the deal. The key is the written contract, which outlines the terms for use, payment, and termination. If the company fails to uphold its end of the deal, such as by not using the athlete's image when promised, the athlete could have grounds for legal action or negotiation to resolve the dispute.

  2. So you think he didn’t know 28 million for doing nothing. Honestly anyone knows this is suss

  3. They got court give me 28 million at least I will plant trees he did nothing apart from signing the contract and got 28 million I planted 10 trees and after to pay tax he gets 28 million for doing nothing. Honestly he’s on 50 million a year how greedy can you get

  4. These guys are clowns in the media. Likes is the in thing. Clippers are guilty but folks love the owner and the coach . Nothing will happen because it not the Lakers. The Clippers will get no punishment and probably get compensated from pain and suffering !!

  5. Aiyo that foo rob Parker is truly one of the worst VOICES in the podcast game. His terrible opinions are just icing on the turd cake that is his podcast.

  6. If this ends up being true, it shows the ownership was desperate for some reason because Kawhi has been with the Clippers how many years now and is always hurt or load managing and hasn't taken them nowhere. Clippers were already paying him good money plus giving him contract extension to a player that is always injured. I would fine the fire out of the Clippers and take picks away and what not. Doesn't matter if the Clippers brought this to Kawhi or not, he knew what the deal was, he didn't have to sign his name to it but guess what he choose to, so he just as guilty, partners in crime, set an example suspend him for the entire upcoming season. If someone offers you to do a crime or break a law with them and you go along with it, your guilty to.

No one is saying Kawhi has been faking his injuries, but I say with the load management part of it he's been taking liberty with it. He has two championships, so he doesn't have to win another plus how do you know he cares about winning he might care about the money more at this stage.

  7. Damn who ratted them out? Brilliant idea. I want the Clippers to win even more now! You guys shouldn’t even be talking about this because as a fan of sports I could care less! I’m sure Tom Brady was taken care of in a similar way his whole career!
