Young's ceiling is fixed. Hawks should trade him.
I’m excited for them if everything goes right they can reach the ECF
I think Trae gives them the Kyler Murray problem where he’s always gonna be good enough to keep them afloat when healthy but never good enough to put them in contention for a championship. It’ll drown the hawks in mediocrity for the next 5-10 years. Things could still break right for the hawks and they could end up being really good but Trae is in the unfortunate position of being a franchise centerpiece but not a generational talent and i think it’ll hurt them long term.
When Hawks drafted Trae Young they should’ve put him on a plan to get him upto 175-180lbs to minimize some of his defensive deficiencies (because Trae tries but is not strong enough) or they could’ve just kept Luka. Drafting guys like DeAndre Hunter (only to flip him for bag of chips) and Cam Reddish didn’t help their case. Neither did The head scratching DJM trade. The only reason they don’t get scrutinized because Hornets, Wizards, Kings, Suns still exist.
