Dame has had so many great performances for Portland. But in his time there, so many players were traded to and from the Blazers to try to fit around him. It was very odd to me after the year the Blazers went to the WCF, that nearly the whole starting roster left. I think there is more to that story. In the two years that Dame left, the blazers seem to be taking on a new identity and trying to recreate OKC or the Pacers. I hope the Dame and the Blazers go in this new direction rather than trying to go back in time.

Family is everything. he wasn't happy away from them, and now he gets a year to recover and mentor Portland's young guards before coming back on the court.

I think a lot of people who say it doesn’t make sense basketball wise don’t understand the Blazers missing pieces. They’re relying on development yes, but the missing piece is a vet leader in the locker room and offensive fire punch bc they’re so defensive heavy rn. There’s only three guards that’s Jrue scoot and Dame Shaedon is a guard that can play wing too this. I think Dame prob wouldn’t have came back if he didn’t think they can compete when he’s recovered. His role will depend on scoots year this year if he breaks out I don’t even think dame would care about coming off the bench. Also the team is up for sale dame has always stated he wanted a stake in ownership so maybe that’s another part of it as well. The blazers in 3 years will be contenders and Dame is the perfect mentor to help Chauncey with the transition of the culture esp bc he was the foundation
Having your kids close to you tops everything if you are a real father. I hope he kids gets the Disney ending in Portland and gets the championship but he is already a winner a great father that won the lottery in Milwaukee and gets to play in front of his kids

This video summarizes Dame's situation very well. Other people may not realize it but Dame is royalty in Portland. He will be welcomed back with open arms and he knows it. It's his home and his family's home and that's what matters at this point in his career.
