The Celtics were a well oiled machine at this point – people talk about Jordan struggling in his career it’s bc he played legends like Bird with full teams – Bird even said he was god disguised as MJ the way he moved and played – it’s just that he couldn’t win by himself.
I've never denied the superiority of Michael Jordan and his game. I've always had him as my GOAT, just like the majority. As time has went by, I've always liked Larry Bird. I am friends with Garfield Smith, who also wore #33 and played for the Celtics. Told me he gave Larry his number and didn't want anyone to have it but him. I've been in Garfield's mancave. Celtics jacket and memorabilia all around. Shaking hands with Ted Kennedy in a photo. We are former business partners as well. Anyway, he is a great guy and played in the earlier 70s for Boston just before Bird. More and more hype about Bird than I was aware of was coming out. I had no idea!! No idea just how dominate this man was. I've been on that bandwagon for decades. Not doing my homework. A GOAT goes way beyond high flying dunks and athleticism along with even being able to score. It should describe a complete, all-around basketball player. One that does most everything better than anyone else. That describes Larry Bird to a tee. A cold blooded killer. A lethal assassin. Clutch your azz and tell you before he does it. And this man dominated in a most dominate era! Injured! Broken back and bone spurs on both feet that required surgery and still dominated! Larry Bird is the most complete player ever. Make 20 categories describing a GOAT. Larry Bird would fill more categories and fill them better than anyone who's ever played the game. Sure, give the points column to this guy and the dunks column to Jordan. Larry is going to fill 75% of everything else. Do your homework guys. It starts with what defines a GOAT. A GOAT is a complete player. One that does virtually everything better than anyone else.. ever. Larry Bird gets the nod for GOAT of the NBA. Not taking away from the dozens of dynamite players that have made this sport so special. They are the athletes we could never be and they were fun to rute for and watch. Don't call Jordan the GOAT because you like him. Call Larry Bird the GOAT because you did your homework and found out you were wrong like me. If I was known to be ONE OF the greatest basketball players of all time, I could take that to the grave with me with pride. Michael Jordan will be able to do that.
I agree with Jordan here, if you take the career is Lebron James. If you take the best period , it is Bird, he dominated the league above everyone more than any other SF.

Jordan defender spotted…
Bird and Jordan are my top two. The rest are a toss.
Both of these guys are great. Where was the "game winner over Jordan"? It was a 10 pt win. Click bait.
My favorite quote about Bird: Jordan made you look slow, Bird made you look stupid.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That wasn’t a game winner…
I can watch LB and the Celtics over and over and over.
Wow, what a shot from Larry bird
Larry Bird is the best all-around player I ever saw. 💯🔥🏀
