Why Nikola Jokic is BY FAR #1 player in NBA | Denver Nuggets

We’ve reached the conclusion of our NBA Player Rankings and Jason explains why Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets has such a stranglehold on the top spot. He also breaks down why the gap between him and the other top tier superstars (Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Giannis Antetokounmpo) is so large.

  1. Even as a big Jokic fan, I feel like last year was the last time Jokic will be regarded as the definite best player in the world. Players like Luka and SGA are hitting their peaks, Wemby is knocking on the door. Even Sengun outplayed Jokic in Eurobasket.

  2. In my opinion, Steph Curry is still the best player in basketball because he is the best at being the most valuable archetype there is in basketball. Which is the three level offensive engine. There is no better player to build your team around in the history of basketball than Stephen Curry. His scoring output along with the goat level play making ability and offensive flexibility he gives you is unmatched.

  3. It's not even about box score numbers, the impact on the game Jokic has, NOBODY has ever had…Denver was lottary team without him last year…29th in NET raiting…with him on the floor they played like Clevland Cavs who won 60 games…
He is like 7 foot Cris Paul, unselfish FOR REAL makes his teammates better…Joker could averrage 35-40ppg plus still 8-10apg if he played selfish basketball like pretty much all other superstars in the league….
But he is UNSELFISH, lets others play, thats the thing.

  4. You should do a bubbling into the top 20 where you predict people that could make the top 20 if they were to elevate their game

  5. It's inevitable that SGA bout to snatch the best player on planet earth crown from Jokic! But you will never hear it from jason

  6. I guess we starting off the season on nonsense. A strangle hold, tho?!… this feel more bias towards the Shai and Giannis .. I’ll holler back when the season is about to begin

  7. I would like to say only Giannis and Luka could’ve maybe beaten the Clippers in Round 1 on that Nuggets team with a first time head coach in the playoffs, and the severe lack of depth and inconsistency from his costars except for AG and to a lesser extent Braun. I do believe that no one else could’ve taken OKC to 7 games with the way that roster was constructed. Indy is different because they were built like OKC where they could be 9-10 guys throughout the playoffs they just weren’t as talented and their best player got hurt.

  8. Mailbag: Simple question, What’s
the highest you could see jokic climb all time? Such a tough guy to put up against other all timers, particularly bigs, because of his lack of rim protection as a center (sometimes I feel like you’re almost better off not judging him as a big). But I truly think he finishes top 10 all time.

Keep up the good work Jason, love the show!

  9. If he was “by far the best player in the NBA” he wouldn’t have lost the MVP and head to head against SGA in playoffs with a veteran squad while SGA was leading one of the youngest teams ever… Jason just can’t see past his biases he won’t even admit it’s close 😢

  10. You can make an argument for SGA over Joker here! He did just beat him out for the Mvp & handed his team a playoff exit!

  11. He's the best player but I'm not taking the odds they win it tho. Only 2 ever conference finals appearances in his entire 10 years so far. Odds actually say no he won't make it this year either.

  12. Mailbag: Long-time NBA fan here. It seems that, in the old days, teams could have LESS supporting players and 2 or 3 stars while winning multiple titles. Has that really changed, or is that just a perception? If it’s real, what are your ideas on why this phenomenon exists now?
